I can document at least 30 years of visiting this Catfish house. It's truly amazing how consistently wonderful this place is. They've had the same formula every time I go there-- friendly service and smiles from every worker there, excellent food served fresh and hot, and plenty of food for the price point. I would guess that I've been served at David's maybe 80 times in the last 30 years and they have never missed. Can't wait to go back again!!! read more

While driving back to Florida from Alabama we happen to see a sign for David's Catfish House and decided to stop and give it a try. Right away we could tell that it was a popular spot. Since it was an unplanned stop we did take out. The food was really good. I must give a special mention for the cole slaw which was delicious. There are multiple David's catfish House restaurants in the area, but this location is the original and the best. The menu is different and the quality of the foods are much better. We usually start of with the fried crab claws, which a large and good quantity. My wife gets the catfish basket with turnip greens and fries and I usually get the fried oysters and shrimp with turnip greens and baked potato. The food is always good and so much better than the other locations. The only I wished that was different was more options that are not fried. This place is worth the drive from Pensacola. read more

FOOD -good catfish, albeit a tad bit salty -best coleslaw I've ever tasted in my life -my companion said the shrimp was nothing to write home about. I agree they had a funny taste -first time ever trying fried green tomatoes. they were piping hot, with delicious crust. for some reason, I didn't expect the tomatoes to be tangy. I'd eat them again. SERVICE -seated very promptly -attentive service -waitress brought us dirty, greasy plates to eat our tomatoes off of. when I pointed out that they were dirty, she said "oh yea, I saw that." and promptly took them away and brought clean replacements. I can never get tired of fish. I was on the road and came across David's Catfish House. Wow a drive through was right on time especially since we are having to social distance. Me and the fam rolled right on through and placed our order, and waited 15mins in the parking lot. The thing is you still have to wait in the drive through to pick up your order up. I appreciated the hot fish, oysters, shrimp fries and hush puppies that were freshly cooked. The coleslaw was awesome in taste and fresh. The seafood was crispy and seasoned perfectly. I must say that the oysters were small bite size not what I'm use to eating. Everything was good, and it's no secret because it was quite a crowd of people at the time. Same everytime. The coleslaw and sweet tea are on point. I'm pretty sure my dad would by coleslaw from them in bulk for his party's sometimes. The prices are not too high and the service is very nice here. I grew up going here and don't really go hear anymore as I don't personally trust farm raised fish of any sort. Visited this charming country catfish house while visiting my mom in Pensacola. They serve huge servings! The all you can eat catfish and shrimp was delicious but very filling. Very good prices only $16.99 all you can eat and kids meals are only $4.99. It comes with 2 sides and I chose collard greens and sweet potato and because the sides are also all you can eat I opted to try the cheese grits which were also southernly delicious. Really casual restaurant, good service, and food made really well. I had the shrimp and grits, the shrimp were tender and not over cooked, the grits were perfect, the bowl had some bid chips in it and should've been thrown out. The only reason I am short a 5th star is the service was lacking a bit. The place wasn't busy but we hardly saw our server. Food was amazing. We both had catfish fillet dinners and different sides. My husband also had the fried green tomatoes which he said were the best ever. Steak fries were average, could use some seasoning salt. My husband had cheese grits and sweet potato.
