Wow! this was my second time eating there and they worked their butts off to take our rather large party without any fuss or drama. I'm sure someone called ahead to tell them to expect our party of 500 [not a typo], but we may have shown up with more. The waitstaff, the kitchen and the cashier were just as friendly to the last person to sit as they were to the first. Michelin rates restaurants by its worthiness to travel a distance to enjoy... two stars indicated good food, worth a detour, 3 stars was exceptional food worth a special trip. I cannot say that the food is exceptional, it is exactly what I expect... good southern fried pork chop, good sides, and good comfort food dessert... I had the Banana Pudding. That would make this a Michelin Two Star raised to a power of 2... one fella drove over 4500 miles for the Buttermilk Pie. Very good low-key spot to visit on Sunday. Nice staff. Terrific fried chicken and banana pudding. The place is a bit spare inside and could perhaps use some festive decorations (its VERY spare inside) to lighten it up a bit. It's an easy drive from Mobile or lower Baldwin County. Great place to get some southern cooking! Simple, down to earth, delicious. I've been here twice now and was not disappointed either time. People are very friendly and the food was great - fried chicken, greens, shrimp and grits, corn - what's not to love? I will start off with the service being beyond excellent and our waitress was super sweet(which is why I gave it two stars)! We all had the lunch buffet, which was very disappointing. Everything was picked over and barely warm. When I eat at a Southern Buffet, or any buffet, mashed potatoes is a staple, except for this buffet. I have dined at stagecoach three times and I guess the first two times, by chance, lunched on a Friday. I was really impressed the fish, it was delicious, homemade fries, homemade coleslaw and other great items. Today I dined on a Monday and regret it. I thoroughly enjoy the home made fixins: french fries, coleslaw, vegetables, etc. Today everything was canned and warmed except for some kind of can corn that was fried in a skillet. The main meat items was fried chicken, baked chicken, roast beef all school cafeteria quality. So do I recommend stagecoach? , absolutely yes! just not on Mondays. I was told below is the following typical schedule a buffet items: Monday: avoid Tuesday: pork chops, hamburger steak Wednesday: fried shrimp Thursday: salmon patties Friday: fried fish Another bad report: the buffet table lights were out and you really couldn't see your food. The cleanliness of the store could be dramatically improved; replace the ceiling tiles please. What worries me when I go to a restaurant and the customers seating area is dirty, my mind starts to wonder what's behind the kitchen walls....... The food is so good, the people are so friendly, and the family atmosphere is like eating at your grandma's house (and boy can she cook!). Ignore the dated decor, the not so modern bathrooms and furnishings, because the food and service are so good it doesn't matter. On the buffet the fried chicken is by far the best you'll ever eat, and if you are lucky enough to get shrimp and grits, make sure you are seated when you eat it. You have to try the buttermilk pie with ice cream as it is truly a heavenly experience. Overall tasty southern goodness. The staff was fun and very attentive with us as well as the regulars. The server recommended the fried chicken tenders and she was right! Had lunch yesterday and it was great. Salmon patties and meatloaf just like my mom's. All sorts of great veggies and delicious desserts. Cabbage is awesome as are the fried green tomatoes. Some days they have fried okra and fried zucchini strips or fried squash. Menu varies with the day of the week, but any day is awesome Southern cooking! Oh, did I mention the variety of desserts? It has taken me a minute to write this review. My family went to Stagecoach last Sunday for what we thought was going to be a wonderful lunch. Although the food was good the service was horrible. If you have any type of food allergies this wouldn't be a restaurant for you. My niece is allergic to eggs. Everywhere we go we have to ask if food items have egg in them or have been cook on the same surface as eggs. When we asked which foods may contain egg, we were told very rudely that they didn't know and if there was a chance just don't eat it. We were very stunned by the response because we have never had this type of response from any other place we have been. We spoke to the owner at the end of our visit. She was unapologetic and very rude giving excuse after excuse as to why she would not check to see what foods had egg. We asked about other food allergies and what she would say to those people. Her response "I would tell them to eat the green beans" and laughed. Food allergies can be serious and are nothing to joke about. We will not return to this restaurant but I felt it important to share our experience here so others with food allergies doesn't have to endure the rudeness of this owner and her employees. read more

About 3 miles off of I-65 Stockton Exit, this restaurant is well worth the short detour. Their southern food is delicious and fresh, even off the buffet. They serve seafood and steak (we didn't get either), but their fried chicken, gravy and rice, fried okra, beans, and desserts were delicious. Buffet is affordable and worth it. After a week in New Orleans, it was nice to finally get some sweet tea with lunch. Locals definitely eat here. Not for those who are easily offended by frequent displays of religion. read more
