We have used Gateway for years and we were always pleased with their service. However, on a previous visit, we were told that we owed $11 from the last visit because our credit card did not go through! ??? When you swipe or put in your chip, the transaction is either approved or denied. Our card has never been denied! So we paid the $11, again! Several weeks ago we took some suits and dress shirts. I was spending $40. a month there! $1.65 to launder a shirt? Try Seminary Cleaners on Imperial and State College for $.99 and the customer service there is much better. I only come here because it is convenient as it is in the shopping center where I work. This place however, is a bit pricey, I can find some place cheaper near my home in La Habra. Secondly, the girls that work here have REALLY BAD attitudes. They don't smile, no courtesy. You walk in and all you get is a "phone number?" Not even a dam greeting. The location is ideal and that is really the best thing about Gateway Cleaners. Yes, the clothes come back clean and pressed but the prices are high and the girls who work at the counter seem to be irritated that they have to provide service to customers. One of the worst dry cleaners I have ever experienced! My wife brought her wedding dress here to be dry cleaned. We asked the owner if they can do the dry cleaning for something so delicate as her wedding dress, since it had a lot of beading, pearls, and lace. The owner said they do wedding dresses regularly- so we decided to use them, since they are close to home. When we got the wedding dress back, it was ruined! The beads came off, the lace torn, etc. When we confronted the owner about it, he did not take responsibility for the damage. He said the wedding dress was poorly made! Mind you this is a designer wedding dress that cost $5000. He did not offer to pay for the repairs. He just said he will not charge us for the dry cleaning. Can you believe that?! Do not bring your dry cleaning here. They do a shoddy job- not quality. And no customer service. They don't try and make the customer happy. Beware! read more

Went to pick up my cleaning only to discover one of my blouses had been ruined. I dropped it off asking if they could get the black transfer from a sweater to my blouse off and they said they would try. Fair enough, but when I picked up my blouse the black stripe bled into the white stripe leaving a blue line and they argued with me that I dropped off the blouse that way. Have been a customer for five years now. Cleaning service is good, but not the lowest prices you'll find in the area. The alteration service is poor, though the pricing is OK. Recently the dresser is almost never there. I sent in 2 pairs of pants a month ago for heming. I pinned the pants and provided written instructions for the preferred length of inseam. The pants first came back 2 inches too long; the store offered to fix at no additional charge. The second time the pants came back 2 inches too short. The manager is not there today. I will try to reach him tomorrow. Highly recommned you look for alteration service elsewhere. read more

I've been using this Cleaner since high school. great service and very friendly staff. Prices are reasonable and they do wonderful work, I've even had them sew up a ripped seam from suit pants and they were are good as new. The staff will even go out their way to secure any loose jewelry that you may leave in your garments, that was such a great gesture. I dropped off my comforter Saturday morning. I was told, and my printed ticket stated, that my blanket would be ready Wednesday after 5. I arrived Wednesday at 6:10pm. The women there could now find my blanket. They said "it's ready but we can't find it" - excuse me... what!? She asked me to come back tomorrow morning, which I cannot due because of my work schedule. I asked that she call her boss. She did. He could not tell her where it was. I spoke to him on the phone, explained how upset I was, and asked if he could help them find it via phone or come back to find it himself. He stated I was being unreasonable. I was very upset snout my list blanket - which he kept yelling at me was "not lost" - umm if no one can find it, pretty sure that means is lost. After some back and forth - he hung up on me. I'm appalled they get any business. I asked the women if I could go back there and look for it myself - which they allowed. Could it find it. I asked if the items ever leave their facility. She said sometimes - if it was labeled wrong. Oh great. Anyway, I don't have my blanket still and I'll NEVER go here again. read more

This incident took place in 2007 and I'm not surprised that their rating is horrible. I took my bridesmaid dress here to get altered 3 weeks before I fly to Chicago for my friend's wedding. So the seamstress got all my measurements and I was told that I will get the dress a week after. A week later I came back to pick it up and they said the seamstress wasn't there and they couldn't find the dress and just come back the next day. Since I live 2 minutes away, I decided to come back for it next day. The following day there was still no dress. I went in the following week and still no dress. 4 days before I fly to Chicago I finally got an answer from them and they said they lost the dress!!! I was furious! They said that the seamstress took the dress home and left it in the bus. Seriously!? I told them that they have to pay me (actually my friend since she paid for all the bridesmaids' dresses) for the price of the dress and they said that they can only refund like $50 or something since it was a poorly made dress but actually that was a $500 bridesmaid dress. I had to tell my friend the situation and tried to look for a similar dress few days before I flew to Chicago but didn't find one. read more

We have been customers here for over 5 years now. The customer service has gotten better over the years. Maybe there have been enough complaints about the bad attitudes of the staff from customers that the owner finally tried to hire friendlier employees? They lost my husband's shirt once, but the owner was able to find it by check his security cameras. Overall it's an average place to get dry cleaning done, but it is a little pricey. read more

Patronized this establishment for about 8 years. In the past year their quality plummeted. After they destroyed a wool scarf by hanging a heavy tag from one corner with a giant safety pin, creating a bug hole, I spoke with the owner, Neil, who promised to reimburse me for a replacement. I followed instructions and he put a $65 credit on my "tab". Thereafter, his crew crushed three buttons on one of my husband's shirts and replaced them with cheap white plastic buttons and didn't confess to the deed (the buttons on the shirt were brownish tortoise-shell looking, not white), delivered a tuxedo shirt with smashed cuffs and dirt on the collar and starched everything despite my standing "no starch" order. I told the owner I really could not continue using his business and asked for a refund of the credit balance. That was a month ago. He has told me twice that he mailed a check to me - no check has ever been received. I would have given them a bad review for their terrible cleaning performance but now I have to add dishonesty to my complaint. read more

I am so upset, I cannot even tell you. I have used this cleaners for about 9 months and have lost 2 shirts and most recently a jacket. And in the same 9 months, I have had a red scarf, Hawaiian shirt, Navy Jacket mixed with my clothing, which I returned back to the cleaners. Once I was even asked, is this your shirt? OMG!!!!!! Of course, my pieces have never been recovered. I also agree with the attitudes of the girls, it is ridiculous. I actually dread picking up my clothing. I am sad to say the best cleaners in town closed this year. Wild West cleaners, I dropped off my clothes there for 17 years and in all that time, I only had two shirts messed up. I also, did not have one item missing, nor did I get anyone else's clothing. What has happened to service. I am really not sure what to do. Does anyone have recommendations for another cleaners?
