Thought about giving a 4 star because the final price was $250 instead of the original $200 estimate. Also, we had to follow up with an additional $40 fix a few days later relating to the spark plugs. Even with these minor pricing issues though, I would still have chosen this place because of their local professionaliam, and is the shop to go to if you need repairs from reliable mechanics not too far from downtown.

Our regular mechanic couldn't check it until Friday, but recommended Twins Auto. I contacted them and was told to come over so a mechanic could take a short drive with me to see what it might be. I called to say I arrived and was told to park. Someone would be out soon. Jerry came out and sat in the passenger seat. He started asking questions after I gave a description of the noise. He explained what he thought it was, and that it wasn't dangerous or harmful to drive. Then he walked around and looked at all the brakes which he said still looked new. He gave me a reasonable price to stop the noise if it was really bothersome, but said his car did it too, and it wasn't a problem. No pressure, no "man 'splaining", just a clear description and solution if I wanted. Knowledgeable and great customer service.

I'd already been to a couple other places including dealerships - with each telling me my transmission was the problem and needed it rebuilt at the very least (costing between $4-6,000!!) I initially went to Car Tech but each time, the lights were not flashing where the diagnostic machine would be able to detect it. In the meantime, my car began having issues with starting. Took it to Car Tech, and it was the starter. While Shannon was fixing that, he also discovered the solenoid was also going bad. He fixed that at a fraction of the cost other shops quoted. Then I had a few other issues pop up and once again, Shannon fixed those quickly and didn't rake me over the coals with charges on doing it. Within a few weeks of having the Starter done, my car began not wanting to start again. Shannon stands behind his work. He told me to bring it back in. It wasn't the Starter. He spent the day, running all the electrical lines and discovered my wiring harness had been tampered with (maybe one of the other shops I had taken it to?? It clearly wasn't done by any animal). A new one was gonna run over $1000. Didn't make sense to do for me car and to be honest I just didn't have that kind of money. Shannon had Brandi (the other mechanic) find that part used and it was installed on my 2013 Impala. Ended up being what was actually causing the initial issue with my car to begin with -- the one that everyone else was wanting to charge me over $4k to put in a rebuilt transmission!! Obviously not needed!! Shannon saved me a crap ton of money that I just didn't have and fixed what was truly wrong with my car and didn't over charge me for it!! My car has been running like it did 8yr ago when I bought it!! Shannon does amazing work, turned his love for working on cars into a successful business that actually HELPS people while doing it!!! I was introduced to him by word of mouth marketing; a co-worker of my wife's mentioned him to my wife when her vehicle wouldn't run after she arrived to work. We called Larry and he came over with a jump pack, got the vehicle going, said it was the alternator and he could have it ready in two hours. Almost to the minute, two hours later I got a call, car was ready and the price was his very reasonable estimate. The dealership was taken over by new management. They wanted to go with more "industry-standard" pricing and upselling. Larry was not a fan and resigned rather than follow the pressure to pad bills with pre-determined hours for a service, or trying to push additional repairs that may not be needed immediately. Within a month, the dealer had to close the service department, and was towing repairs to a second facility. Within a year, the dealership closed down. Larry opened Honest Auto Repair. He is pretty much a "one man" operation, and he keeps his estimates fair for parts and labor (my brakes were squeaking last November when the first snow fell, and I asked him to check them out. He said he brushed the rust off them, so the squeaking stopped, and quoted me a price to repair them, but said I could probably wait until spring for the work. There was no charge for brushing the rust off. I got through the winter just fine, and in May the brake light on the dash board came on. I took the car back to Larry, and he did the work, for his quoted estimate from November.) He handles the maintenance that he is equipped to do, will make recommendations for anything he isn't prepared to do, and his warranty is his personal commitment to "make it right" if your repair doesn't hold up. I took my car there one time to get work done and I recommended doing something else to car and they asked, "why?" They asked if I was having trouble or any issue and used the common sense of "if it isn't broke, don't fix it." I think another garage would have seen $$$ and performed unnecessary work. The first business found a major problem and used scare tactics to get it done right away. CB also identified the problem but the technician said it was not serious and reassured me that I would have no issues on my trip. The repair wasn't as extreme as the first had reported. Very honest service: I had the dealership tell me I need multiple things replaced; however, when I went to Exclusive Repair, they were realistic and said many of the items did not to be replaced quite yet. Overall, they made the repair process so seamless as they texted me their recommendations / photos and pricing, and then I could respond with which repairs I wanted to have done. I had oil change, engine and cabin filters replaced, and brake light replaced. I needed a wheel alignment, but that was not something they could do. Very reasonable pricing, and they even gave me a discount for being a UNMC employee. The drop off appointments are easy to get, but the waiting appointments book out 6 weeks or so. Asked about schedule issues and if they can confidently do this job. Then was replied with: "no no scheduled issues sir , the car is in line with the space of it still being occupied by the car itself it was just one of those days unfortunetly and we couldnt start on it today , the work time is still the same im just backed up by 1 day sir , i apologize for this inconvinience and since we dont open sundays , the best bet will be to finish it by monday" Told specifically not to start it or drive it due to timing being off and creating additional damage. But that was disregarded and started any way. Highly unprofessional place and strongly don't recommend bringing your car here if you love or care for your car. I have been lied to and disrespected.
