Updating my review. Still coming to Chase and his team at Gate Avenue Service - I think we've brought 4 vehicles here now over 10 years. First and most importantly, Chase and his team are honest and hard working. They are extremely busy but always make time to diagnose and give second opinions. They have saved me money and given me solid advice multiple times when dealerships were leaving me astray. Most recently Chase and his team helped me to advocate (aka fight) Hyundai to get a replacement on my engine. Chase provided me all the documentation that Hyundai required not once, but twice, and in paper and in e-mail after Hyundai "misplaced" it. Chase did both of these requests same day. Chase has seen me at my worst (in tears) completely overwhelmed with car stress (and I don't speak car) and also completely flustered trying to explain what felt off with my vehicle when I seriously was not describing it well. The team at Gate is always courteous and treat me and all the customers I have ever seen with respect. The only limitation or downside with Gate is that they are really busy - and for good reason! So you may have to wait a bit for an appointment but they will always treat you right! PS They offer a program to store your tires for you! February 25,2026 review: My wife and I have been bringing our cars for repair, summer/ winter tire switch outs/ storage to Gate Avenue Service in St. Albert for 5 plus years. So I am comfortable in providing an honest and reliable review of this business. All of our dealings during that time have been with this company's first point of customer contact, that being Chase, the Manager. Chase has mastered the art of making clients feel welcome as soon as they enter the premises. I can easily say that Chase has provided top notch,first class customer service to us. It goes without saying but for those who do not know; always get a second opinion. I first went to another auto shop to diagnose an issue regarding an oil pump pressure. They did a "Professional scan and a visual confirmation" etc.... In the end, it turned out to be the Oil Pump issue and I needed to replace it altogether. In the report they stated: "Visual Inspection: Correct Oil Level, removed oil pressure sensor and screen, both look in GREAT CONDITION" I then went to ' Gate Ave Service' which I have been to many times with no issues before and they deemed after I explained the symptoms, they asked " did they check the oil switch?" I told staff at GATE Ave Service that the other auto shop apparently did check it and they said it was good. Even though I told the mechanic that and described the symptoms at Gate Ave Service; they still suggested that based on what I described that it is most likely the oil switch to be the issue and take my truck there. I did just that. They fixed the issue. It now runs great. It was as they suspected a faulty oil switch and very dirty screen and charged me a 3rd of the cost that the other auto shop would have raped me $2500.00 PLUS. I appreciate their honesty, professionalism, and knowledge. It is why I will continue to take any issues I have to Gate Ave Service! Much Appreciated and thanks to Gate Ave Service team. read more

I've taken two vehicles here over the years. I came for the yearly tire-change deal, and stayed for the amazing service and quality. I've had multiple things repaired here, including a starter, an ignition coil, air conditioning, wheel alignment, and of course, multiple tire changes. I'm consistently impressed with their customer service and complimentary services, including a courtesy shuttle. I once called them after my vehicle stopped working on my way home from work with half an hour before they closed, and they arranged a tow with AMA for me and had my vehicle back to me the next day. They understand that a vehicle is an important thing, and on more than one occasion I've heard the front-end staff offer genuine compassion to customers whose vehicles had serious problems. The price on all repairs has always been fair, and as a young woman who's not the most mechanically-savvy, I truly appreciate that. Two thumbs way up! read more

Not to be that person but if I could I would give this place NEGATIVE stars. This place is awful and is a scam. My mom went here multiple times for her car and payed thousands of dollars on so many things to get fixed but almost nothing did. Or at lease they just fixed all the wrong things. Horrible horrible service, and just such a waste of not only so much money but time. I am writing this review to save everyone the expense and frustration, and to teach this man a lesson. please do not give this place your business. read more

They lie! Needed the air conditioning compressor repaired on my vehicle. Asked if they could fix it same day. They said definitely. I was called before noon with the cost, again asked if I would be able to pick it up same day - I was told it shouldn't take long to fix. I called around 3:30 because I hadn't heard from the garage and asked again if I could get it back same day, again I was told to come down and pick it up around 5pm. At 4:30 I received a call saying the machine used to recharge air conditioning broke and the vehicle wouldn't be ready until the next day. I took it there because they said it would be repaired same day. There were plans for the next day. After they heard the pure panic and anger in my voice I was offered a loaner car - it was filthy! It smelled and looked like someone had given birth in the front seat. Neither was I compensated for my time or inconvenience, I didn't even receive an apology - only excuses. Don't go there if you want the truth! read more

Excellent Customer Service! I had used their online apt calendar to book an apt on Friday April 19th (some businesses are still open and figured I would try). It was accepted but unfortunately when I arrived it was closed. Richard was so apologetic and nice, he offered to have my car picked up and dropped off while I was at work so I didn't need to make the drive again. I have always been impressed with their service and I trust their recommendations, they are knowledgeable and reasonable. I called around and they were the cheapest to do an insurance inspection on out of the five I called. Shuttle service is really convenient. It looks clean inside the customer area as did the shop. Now the thing I'm upset about. I was told they wouldn't sign off on my insurance inspection without replacing the rear swaybar bushings which were "worn out." Well, I said I'd do them myself and take it back to them to have a look and sign off on the inspection. When I said that on the phone i could hear the guy on the line deflate with disappointment and reluctantly, he agreed. Upon checking the car myself, I found no play in the bushings when applying force to them and I even went as far as driving over ungulating roads surfaces and confimed that there was no knocking or clunking from the rear suspension. Once I removed the bushings I noticed, the rubber had no cracks, it wasn't brittle and, it was the same shape and size as the replacements. I had to change perfectly good bushings for these people to sign off on my car. Sounds like they were hoping I wasn't savy enough to do them myself so they could charge me the hour they quoted me and do them in less than the 30 minutes it took me to do them on the driveway. Bushings are gravy on a car like this and take no time to do on a hoist, how many others have been quoted huge amounts of money for jobs that don't require the amount of time quoted or are not necessary. I feel like they held me hostage... Not happy with that. read more

Auto Select at 174 St. Albert Road - just behind the Petro-Can that sits next to the St. Albert Inn - is a fairly new business in that building but there's little doubt that it'll do just fine if the friendly atmosphere, the attention to detail and the customer service standards are maintained as they are now. The business is involved will all types of automotive repairs, has several excellent mechanics and a manger that goes the extra mile to ensure that you're comfortable. The hourly rate is comparable to most of the other garages and mechanics shops - in the $120 hour range - but these guys work to get the job done right - and with expediency. By the way - if you are looking for winter tires, Auto Select is my recommendation. I bought four new Hanook "I" Pike winter tires and had them installed on our new car last week. The price was between $320 and $560 less than any of the other (four) locations we contacted - so check them out before you buy anywhere else. read more
