Reviewing the experience as a passenger for an auto repair; mine is 2400 km away :-) Auto mechanics have descended to the least-trusted job over the years, propelled by TV exposé and miserable personal experiences, especially by women. So when the bunny's car had issues and needed some diagnosis and loving, she had trepidations, and I puffed up to help out and run interference (even though my hardware experience is centered around something many nanometers smaller than an oil dipstick). Neither of us needn't have worried. The staff at Ital Motors were reassuring on the phone, honored our Groupon, saw us the same day as the check engine light turned on, gave us advice and recommendations about not only the issue at hand but helpfully triaged the next needed repairs on the bunny's car. No pressure, no frisson of of sleazy, just well-communicated car love. Highly recommended. read more

Great service, got my winter tires from them . Fred knows tires, found a great choice for me

Took my car in here with a Groupon. Not only were they able to get me in within a day, they were super nice on the phone. The other oil change place I checked on Groupon had a 3.5 week wait. Going to Ital Motors was a no-brainer. They seemed like they really wanted my business. Showed up and dropped off my car, then walked down the road for some Dim Sum. The neighborhood is a bit sketchy but in the middle of the day, it seems safe enough. By the time we got back, my car was done. The man at the front was very thorough and explained the issues with my car. He was really honest and give his personal opinion. I felt like for the first time, I wasn't being played by a mechanic to get more money out of me. It was quite refreshing. I was given several tips and ideas of thing I could do with my car. I really appreciated the kindness of the mechanic (Chris I think?) who took extra time to show me around my engine. I will be taking my car here again if I ever need any work. read more

Ital Motors - Auto Repair Near Me - Edmonton, Alberta

I brought my car here for an inspection. They told me my drive belt needed to be replaced and I needed to get 2 new control arms and said my wheels would fall off when I hit the next pothole. As such, they told me I could not drive it. So I parked it for a couple days and cabbed to work. On the advice of someone, and because I am not car savvy, I brought my car to another shop for a second opinion. They contradicted this and told me my drive belt is fine, but my wheel bearing was shot. Curious, I then brought it to a THIRD shop to see what they said, and they told the same thing as the second one. I had it fixed based on the 2nd/3rd opinions. The sounds are gone, the issues are gone, the car is working GREAT. Fast forward to today when I called them to *politely* advise of the misdiagnosis. I told them it didn't matter to me because I had it fixed but just wanted to give him the heads up. The owner flat out told me never come back because he saw what he saw and he's right and when my car falls apart it's going to be my fault. I found this extremely rude considering I was just calling to politely let him know that he had someone misdiagnosing things. Prior to this conversation today, I would have continued using their services for oil changes/tire rotations/etc. I have recommended this shop to numerous people. After speaking with the owner, I will never go back here, I will never recommend this shop, and I will tell people to go anywhere else. read more

This is the only place I trust to take any of my vehicles to. I have never, once, felt like I was being taken advantage of. They always discuss what needs immediate attention and what can wait (and for how long). I have been going to them for 3 years now. They have some of the best prices in town, hands down. I live out of town and it's still worth it for me to go there. I just trust their service. The staff are always pleasant, diligent, and make sure you understand all your options. They have even taken me in as a walk-in, when my tires were bald and they refused to let me leave until it was fixed, although the staff was booked solid and they had to order a tire. One of the reasons I trust them so much and feel like they are just genuine good people, was on the occasion where my vehicle wouldn't turn over after heavy/long driving periods. So I booked an appointment and they spent a good 2 hours checking the vehicle, ruling out mechanical issues and they deemed it an issue with the electrical unit. They explained to me that the cost to dismantle/reassemble and figure out the exact reason may be more than the car is worth. And guess what? They didn't even charge me! From then on, I began exclusively going to them. read more

Horrible!!! Bought and installed a battery with 2 years warrant. Kept shutting down 1.5 yrs later. Took back to them for checking and they said everything is fine. In next 7 days, car didn't start 10 times. Had to boost the battery each time. Last time, called towing service for boosting and found that the connection was loose, which apparently they didn't check during battery checking. Anyway, the boosting service failed to boost the car and told that the battery is no good. Called Ital motors. The owner was very rude and aggressive when I told that the connection was loose. He said everything was fine when they checked, might be boosting guy made it loose. He is not to blame. He did everything right. Finally told me that, if you want to bring your car here, then bring here. If you don't, I don't care. PS: The battery still has 6 months warranty left. But I am not going back to them and I will voluntarily request everyone I know (and don't know) to avoid their store at any cost. Horrible behavior and customer service. read more

I was excited when I found a motor shop so close by me and with good reviews; I am questioning if they are real. I purchased a groupon for a oil change at $27. When I called to book they told me they charge an additional $20 and the customer must tip generously!? Even as a environmental fee, it does not cost $20 to dispose. It is simply a profit for them. What type of shop tells you straight up you must tip them? I never had that before. It is for me to decide after their services to tip them or not. read more

I was having lots of problems with my car and had went to the Hyundai dealership and was quoted at over $1000.00 for repairs and was told that I NEEDED to fix these repairs. I was feeling a bit distraught and disappointed as I didn't have the money for these repairs and then a good friend who said he'd been going to Fred at Ital Motors for years said Fred would give me an honest opinion and a fair quote and that he'd take good care of me. Sure enough, I went to Fred and was not disappointed. Fred quoted me at only $300.00 for the repairs (Including parts AND labor) and honestly told me that the repairs weren't serious and it was my choice if I wanted to fix them, but they weren't of any danger to me or harming my car if I put them off. I ended up fixing the repairs and Fred did an awesome job and I haven't had the same problem since. Since then I've went to Fred for any problems I've had with my car, they installed my catalytic converter for me, fixed my brakes when I was having problems, installed my sister's tires for a great price, worked on my boyfriend's' truck when he was having problems with it. Every time I've taken my car here Fred gives me a 100% honest opinion of what's wrong with my car, quotes me a fair price and lets me know if I can put off the repairs or if it's something that needs to be fixed immediately. He's super flexible and if you can't bring your car during business hours they offer a drop box where you can drop your car off before the store opens and pick it up after work, they're open on Saturdays and do the best they can to help you. Every time I'm sitting in the shop waiting for my car, Fred and his staff are all talking to the customers as if they're family and they've known them for years. When you come to pick up your car Fred doesn't just had you the keys, he's always came out and explained to met exactly what they did, what was wrong and why it's not working. He doesn't just fix your car, he shares his knowledge and love of cars with you so you can learn how your car works and understand why something went wrong. The receptionist is the same girl every time I go and she's the nicest girl you'll ever meet, all the mechanics are super friendly and Fred (The owner) is unbelievable. As long as this shop is open I will take my car here for the rest of my life and would STRONGLY recommend this shop to anyone that asks. You won't be disappointed. read more

excellent and very reasonably priced service on an heater motor replacement / oil change inspection

There is no one else I trust when it comes to issues with my vehicle. Fred is honest and tells it to you straight.

last year I brought my truck in for service I mentioned to him the noise that was making he called telling me it was the left side bearings on the right wheel so I told him to go ahead and then he claes he had to change the other side and then the steering arms and the brakes and billed me 2800.00 but only did the bearings in one side and told me everything is done I will never go there again read more

SO basically, I'm a super suspicious dude when it comes to mechanics/ mechanic shops. But the owner of Ital Motors put a little bit of faith back in humanity after my dealings there. First off I brought my car in via a Groupon deal back in January and got a 27 point inspection, tire rotation, and oil change for ridiculously cheap and I was told then because I drive a bit of a junker( my word not his) that there are many, many, many potential problems coming up that could cost a lot of money and that I should, in the mean time, really try to be as rational as possible and decide if fixing those problems would be worth it. Sounds like good advice right? But the emphasis here wasn't "let US fix your car's potential problems, give me your money" it was, "Look, you drive a $2000 car and these fixes could be worth more than what you're hoping to spend so you might want to reevaluate." I left knowing if and when anything went bad on my car I'd go back to Ital Motors. But here's the big one for me: My car's been squeaking recently when I've been braking. I took the car in to get what I thought obviously were the front brake pads needing to be replaced. I dropped the car off and I went for a walk as he told me to come back in an hour. Half way through my walk he phoned me to tell me that the brake pads are still thick and they are fine and that I would be wasting my money getting new ones. I assured him that there was some intermittent squealing when I braked and he said, "Ok, we'll get our guy out on the road with it to do a road test." I walked back to the shop and waited while the owner was dealing with a young lady at the counter, I wasn't intending to eavesdrop but I heard their conversation and it was very similar to the aforementioned one I had with him back in January (basically, he was telling her that before she spends any money in her old car she should really think twice). Eventually I made my way to the counter and he told me that after the road test they reached the same conclusion that the brakes didn't need to be replaced, it would be a waste of my money. He said that they could go on a mission to find the cause of the intermittent squeal but that could cost me hundreds of dollars and considering the state of my vehicle, etc... I felt dumb assuming I knew the brakes were needing replacement and he joked with me and told me that it was no big deal. He handed me the key and I asked how much I owed for having them check my brakes and doing the road test and spending at least an hour if not slightly more checking out my vehicle and he said, "No charge." I could barely believe it. Here's a business whose model isn't based on get what you can in a single transaction but rather through integrity, friendliness and professionalism, to succeed by making customers for life. And hopefully word of mouth. read more

I really appreciate the service and honesty from these guys. They are a family iwned business and its an old school type of shop. No frills but they do good work and you can rely in their work. They tell you exactly what you need and don't do the whole "upsell ". They replace and fix what needs tonand that's it. I have a new vehicle now with a service package, but when it expires I will continue to be a client. read more

Ital Motors is across from Victoria High School at 10827 101 Street, (780) 424-5210, so it's very centrally located and accessible. The place is family owned, small, caring, reasonable and as honest as the day is long. I've been going there for 36 years and have seen so many acts of generosity on their part, both to myself and others. They always try to save me money. Ital Motors services all makes and models, and look after my Alfa and Subaru with equal expertise. If you want a fancy waiting room, skip the place, but if you want a shop that does good work and that you can trust, run don't walk. read more

I went here for an Oil change because I found a Groupon online. I the store did not look too clean, but it is a mechanic shop so go figure. They quoted a couple hours and it took a couple hours. They were very honest and polite. They told me what was wrong and the price to fix it. I will be back there again because of their candor. read more

I purchased an oil special from Groupon for $54 it just so happened I received a discount that day. It was supposed to be 3 oil changes in a pkg. I thought this was a Great deal. I called to book my apt and was informed by the receptionist there was an additional $19 fee for each oil change. I said this is totally outrageous, who charges $19 for enviro fees.? The lady then told me if I didn't like it you don't have to come here. Go somewhere else!! Well guess what, I did go somewhere else and I sure didn't pay a $19 enviro fee. I paid Nothing!!! MY advice is Buyer Beware and read the fine print. read more

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, DON'T LET THE "NICE" LADY ON THE OTHER END FOOL YOU I bought a groupon for ital motors for $29 it includes oil change and inspection for my mothers car. This is the 2nd time I went to them, first was with my own vehicle. First time I went it was a very good experience the lady at the desk which im guessing is the owner of the shop was very pleasant and very knowledgeable which i appreciated. So I decided to buy another groupon with them but this time it was for my mothers vehicle. I work at the hospital near by which was walking distance to the shop. It worked out great because of the fact that I just dropped the vehicle off and picked it up when I finished work. When I picked up the vehicle it was a man that helped me out. He explained to me everything that was on the paperwork that they inspected and things that needed work. Theres a few things he mentioned that needed fixing and replaced but no mention of anything critical that needed done ASAP. I told him that it wasnt my vehicle and that I will pass it along to my parents. I had to pay extra which was understandable it was less than $30. My parents returned a couple of days after from their vacation. My dad calls me and tells me that the steering wheel was really hard to move for turning and he felt unsafe driving it. My brother who is in 3rd year of automotives came over to check it and he said that there was no power steering fluid in the vehicle and some sort of hose was busted that is connected to it. I checked on the notes and theres nowhere on the notes mentioning it was low on power steer fluid. So I called them because at this point my parents have to get the vehicle towed to the shop. The lady on the other end was less than helpful to the issue. As I explained to her the issue she just kept referring to other issues that was written on the notes. Yes there was something written about the power steering but no mention of it being low or leaking. I passed the phone to my brother who has a bit more understanding of terms. He just basically told me that she also just kept on referring to other things that was wrong with the vehicle nothing connecting to how they missed the leaking/low ps fluid. So when I talked to her again she sounded so uninterested on what I had to say. She said that " ITS DISGUSTING THAT YOUR BROTHER WHO IS ON HIS 3RD YEAR WOULD LET YOUR MOMS CAR HAVE ALL THESE ISSUES" she also said in her exact words to me was and she said this while laughing " COME ON ITS $29!" at this point I was very upset I told her that it wasn't $29. Then she said " OH SORRY $60 SOMETHING" I felt so INSULTED i felt that at this point she was mocking me. NO PAYING CUSTOMERS at fault or not at fault should EVER FEEL INSULTED. She also said " TRUST ME WHEN OUR CONTRACT WITH GROUPON IS FINISHED WE WILL PULL IT OUT," I'm a healthcare worker and it is ABSOLUTELY not accepted to profile anyone or insult anyone you serve. I feel that I didn't get the proper service i was supposed to receive because of the fact that i paid "$29" Not only am terribly upset, my parents now have to deal with this issue that could have been prevented. I WILL DEFINITELY NOT BE REFERRING ANYONE TO ITAL MOTORS. BBB will definitely be hearing about this awful experience. read more

Was one of the worst experiences in my life. I went for oil change and 27 point inspection. After 2 hours of waiting I got a car back with broken side mirror. They refused to fix it and said I had it broken already when I came (I hadn`t). The manager was very rude and absolutely disrespectful. Also the tire that they`d " fixed" got flat next day. When I related all this to my co-worker, she said she also went there once for oil change and on the next day her car lost all antifreeze liquid (it just leaked). Before she never had any problem with her car. read more

I have an 84 ALFA spider and they have supplied some genuine ALFA ROMEO boxed and bagged parts from Milan on a number of occasions. I'm glad to know that they can, and often rely on their expert advice. They have, on occasion, sent me the parts before I've paid for them for goodness sakes. They also have OEM stuff that is unavailable elsewhere. All good, and yes she's quite friendly ... Don Jamieson, Duncan Vancouver Island B.C. read more

Ital motors is a great shop to have almost anything fixed with your car. Fred and his staff and extremely professional and will not find problems you don't really have. I have been taking my cars there for years, and have never had an issue. Support small local business! read more

As another person reported, the enviro/shop fees for an oil change are very high, more so than almost anywhere else I have seen, or been to, so dropped a star for that. As far as service and attention to checking out a vehicle with their vehicle check, this company is completely A-1. They do only the work needed, and suggest if other things should be looked into for the future, but never at a 'bring it here to be done' attitude. Just like down home cooking, a place you can trust for the best in what they do. read more

Worst treatment at a shop ever! The manager is very rude and basically called me a lier on the phone. I went to get an oil change with my groupon, paid an extra $50 for taxes and shop supplies, ok. When I booked the appointment the girl said my car takes synthetic oil, ok. I expected an extra charge for synthetic. When my car was done I looked at the bill and asked if they used synthetic, she said to ask mechanic? They rushed me out the door. I called the manager the next day, wow talk about rude!!! Needless to say I won't be using my other groupons there. Don't go here!!! read more

I was provided a quote for work to be done and when I went to book it in, the quote increased by over double. I told them I was going to think about it, and when I called back to cancel, they didn't seem to really care. Went there once, not sure I'll go back. read more

I started going to Fred just 2 years ago and I will never take my car anywhere else other than him whether if it's an old or new car. As a female I will be the first to admit my ignorance when it comes to cars and I have been taken advantage of in the past from other mechanic shops. With Fred he is straight up and honest. For example...today I took my car in for an oil change and asked him to quote me on new tires and brakes. In the end he said you don't need new tires or brakes right now which of course saved me a lot of money. Because I go there for all my oil changes I trust Fred to tell me when and if I need to have other work done. What I really like about Fred is he also walks me through the issues, educating me on what's wrong with the car, the effect it will have on performance and what they would like to do for it. read more

This place needs to be shut down for their crooked ways. I went to another mechanic when they said they fixed both of my tie rod ends only to find out they didn't. They charged me for both and only fixed one. That's when the next problem shot me right on Christmas Eve. I was so furious and frustrated. And had to do my holidays taking a bus. then waited for the holidays to passed by to informed them of what happened and for them to fix it will cost me $440 just because I had to argue about quoting me a $1,000 to fix both sides even when they haven't look at it yet and they said they had an idea!!! of what's the problem. What a unbelievable people! then just to end their illness of stealing peoples money not to mention just an average person like me whose just earning a minimal amount of salary, trying to save money that's why I bought their change oil deal on groupon and this is what I got! Its a freakin lesson to me and hopefully you guys can avoid it too if you just stay away on this stupid crooked place! read more
