Took a newly purchased (used car) in for an inspection and to fix a couple known issues…read more They did not preform an inspection at all, but still charged for it. When emailed asking why there was no inspection report given with the receipt they sent an incomplete, still in progress while my car is at home and verifiably false report. Did not check the CV at all that area is left blank, lied about the cabin air filter being good and about the brake pad life, did not mention anything about a gouge in one tire sidewall or the AC not working. I am not a mechanic so who knows what else. Driver side wheel well trim was busted and they attempted to blame the towing company, zero chance it was them, zero accountability. They also charged 5% 'shop supplies' which amounted to almost 80$, but they wiped grease on the trim of my car so im not sure what 'supplies' were consumed changing my struts(parts were seperate), certainly not shop towels at a minimum. When asked for a list of 'supplies' they needed, they did not provide it and instead claim all shops charge this. Sinclair auto did not charge it just a couple years ago. 5% hidden fee essentially. Charged nearly 10$ for 2 new lug nuts, not a single one was brand new upon receiving my car. I dont mind a used nut but if youre charging near 5$(per!) it better be brand new as claimed. And to top it all off not even one week later the check engine has come on, I wanted peace of mind with an inspection and they lied about checking the vehicle, infact not a single issue was found besides the ones I told them were already known. The only good thing to be said was the work was prompt, completed the day after drop off. That will not be enough to make me return. Used to be a great shop, never had a problem for many years and even recommended Sinclair auto to a lot of friends and family, the new owner is not living up to the name. I will not be returning, will be telling everyone I can about my experience and recommending against this shop.

My vehicle stayed in their shop for 4 days, and after the inspection they told me that my driver-side lower control arm was broken and that the thermostat needed replacement. They charged me $3,600, but never provided any proof, photos, or explanation showing that the arm was actually broken. They also refused to give me the parts invoice, never showed the cost of the parts they used, and provided no breakdown at all. They charged me $2,200 just for labor, yet this job normally takes around 3 hours, not multiple days. When I asked for labor rate, time, or details, they didn't provide anything. The whole process felt unprofessional, unclear, and extremely overpriced. The worst part is that after I picked up my car, it had even bigger problems than before. The vehicle started having new issues immediately, and now I have to take it to another certified Mercedes mechanic to fix whatever was done to it. I honestly have no idea what they did to my car, but the quality of work seems extremely poor. I am very disappointed and strongly warn anyone with a high-end vehicle: do not trust this shop with your car. They provided no transparency, no proof, no proper documentation, overcharged for labor, and returned my car in worse condition than it arrived.

They looked over the van but didn't bother with the full inspection because it was in such poor shape that it would not pass any out of province inspection unless 8k of work was completed. They also did NOT charge be for this service! They saved me 1000's of dollars in repairs after the seller assured me the van was running great, no problems and would be good to drive across Canada. The take away here... 1.Never Buy a vehicle without having it inspected 1st. 2.Never trust the seller, people can not be trusted nowadays! :(

Updating my review…read more Still coming to Chase and his team at Gate Avenue Service - I think we've brought 4 vehicles here now over 10 years. First and most importantly, Chase and his team are honest and hard working. They are extremely busy but always make time to diagnose and give second opinions. They have saved me money and given me solid advice multiple times when dealerships were leaving me astray. Most recently Chase and his team helped me to advocate (aka fight) Hyundai to get a replacement on my engine. Chase provided me all the documentation that Hyundai required not once, but twice, and in paper and in e-mail after Hyundai "misplaced" it. Chase did both of these requests same day. Chase has seen me at my worst (in tears) completely overwhelmed with car stress (and I don't speak car) and also completely flustered trying to explain what felt off with my vehicle when I seriously was not describing it well. The team at Gate is always courteous and treat me and all the customers I have ever seen with respect. The only limitation or downside with Gate is that they are really busy - and for good reason! So you may have to wait a bit for an appointment but they will always treat you right! PS They offer a program to store your tires for you! My 73 yr old Aunt took her 2018 Lexus RX 350 to Kal Tire in St Albert yesterday because she had a…read moreslow leak on her rear passenger tire. She was told by Kal Tire St Albert her rear brakes had 1mm of brake pad remaining and should not drive her car until repaired. Trusting what the service manager said she left her vehicle with them and walked home. She called me later and asked me if this was normal for a vehicle with only 64000km on it and I said I will go down and talk to them. I looked at her rear brakes and could clearly see that there was more than 1mm on the rear brake pads. I walked in and said can you bring it in and pull the rear wheels off so I we can see the brake pad thickness and they so they did. I looked at the pads and said there is more like 3 or 4 mm of pad left which would mean she would still have at least 20000km of driving left before needing the brake pads replaced and the car was very safe to continue driving. The service technician measured them and there was 3.5 mm and I said nice way to treat the elderly with your up sell on brakes. They quoted her $520 for the rear service and she was scared to drive thanks to their lie. I picked up my aunt and drove her back to take her car. Upset and embarrassed over all this she will never return to Kal Tire for any service because they are dishonest and ripping off customers who trust them. It's a shame businesses like this are in business and did nothing but scare a sweet senior and waste my time and hers. Shame on you Kal Tire St Albert
