Haven't been in a few years and we will never be returning. Had to wait at the door for a long time before anyone came to the front. the host had no personality at all. Walked up to the front and said "2?" in a rude tone and that was the only thing she said to us. Once seated we had to wait 10 minutes before anyone came to take our drink order. there were only 6 tables in the building. there were multiple employees standing around. the food was not very good. the lettuce was brown and the bang bang shrimp was burnt. although the wrap wasn't bad. I was pleased. Gaslight is a big sports bar, very spacious, modern and clean. Booth seating plus high tops and a long bar. Natural light pouring in, but the many windows have pull down shades for when that's needed. Decor is limited to classic sports photos here and there. The emphasis is on the TVs and there's plenty of them. If you're here to watch a game you'll have no problems. Each booth has its own TV screen! Menu is definitely a step up from typical sports bar. My husband had the ribs which were a large portion. He proclaimed them AOK. I was very happy with my sirloin steak (MP today $23), it was well seasoned, flavorful and came out rare as ordered. The Brussels Sprouts tossed in Sriracha glaze were very special. There was a little sweetness to it to mitigate the heat. If you want a healthier side, go for this. I would order again. I was annoyed that the steak comes with Cajun black beans but the ribs with baked beans, and you CAN'T swap the side. Our kind waitress was apologetic for this, but the kitchen put their foot down. I didn't like the Cajun beans, but happily my husband was willing to trade beans with me. Service was very good, food came fast, we were checked on, and free soft drink refill arrived without asking. We ordered online with a 15-20 minute pickup window. We got there, they started it would be a few minutes. Not a big deal. We waited 45 minutes to get the food. Meanwhile two separate tables were seated and fed. Once the food was ready, they forgot to make the shakes, which took another 15 minutes to make. By then the food was no longer warm. Burger was ordered medium, came out closer to well done. I expected mediocrity as this place gets 3/5 stars, but this didn't even meet that benchmark. For my GF friends and honestly anyone... Wish I could give 0/5 stars. At my recent visit, I requested a coffee and asked the server what gf options there were. She brought a gf "menu", which listed foods I could order and what substitutions I could replace certain ingredients with, and listed foods that were NOT GF. Seems great, love the look of how much thought they have put into this upon first glance. A little hard to order, given you need to look at their GF list and actual dining menu to figure out what to order. Coffee comes out. I ask the server for some cream and sugar. She comes out with just some sugar packets and says they do not have creamer. Okay, no problem. Later, my mom asks for some milk or anything else to substitute for creamer for her coffee. The server responds even having milk might not be an option and she has to check. We place an order for buffalo chicken dip, GF chips instead of tortilla chips. App comes out from a busser. Tortilla chips are on the plate. Their GF "menu" specifically states NOT GF with tortilla chips listed underneath. It also has that any dip can be ordered with GF chips to make GF. We wait 20 minutes for our server to come around. We didn't touch the appetizer since my party felt bad about me not being able to have the chips. The server tries taking the tortilla chips back to the BOH after sitting there for 20+ minutes to replace them with GF chips. Our server and a guy walks to our table to give a cup of milk and some heavy cream, and to say these chips that we have are the GF chips. I brought to their attention how on the GF menu it says NOT GF tortilla chips. She did not respond or do anything. I did not eat the chips. Time to order... after sitting there for 30 minutes. I wanted a burger with a GF bun. She states how they are out of those. i then change my order quickly to a lettuce wrapped grilled buffalo chicken wrap... a lettuce wrap is nicer than a burger on a plate with toppings. She asks what I want as a side... I wanted to say GF chips because that is listed as a side, but obviously those don't exist. So I ended up having to get a side salad. Just was not happy with lack of options - especially when they have GF "menu" with so many potential options listed. Food comes out. My food is thrown on a plate. No lettuce wrap. At this point, I am just upset. My salad lettuce was starting to turn brown and was wet and slimy, someone in my party also had same complaint. My party also said their food tasted off and bad. The burgers tasted like they just came out of the freezer. Some of the meatballs were good, others cooked horribly. Not to mention - coffee had so much grounds at the bottom it was nasty. Could not recommend people to run from this place faster. 45 minutes wait time for customers when we were leaving... I wonder why? Loyal, local customer banned for requesting a mistake be corrected. The other night I ordered the Grilled cheese (add avocado) with tomato basil bisque soup. I also requested a side of cucumber and tomato salad (in the past it's hit and miss if this adds a charge - perfectly fine either way). Please know, over many years we dine here 1-2 times a month - as can be confirmed through their loyal customer rewards. When the meal came it had fries and no soup, I was told no charge for the fries as it was a mistake. I asked about the missing soup and was told I didn't order the soup. After I asked to still get the soup the waitress rolled her eyes and very reluctantly said "I'll go get it". A few minutes later she came back and said "we won't be bringing the soup, the menu has mistakes and you substituted the two sides for it. (Wait?- is the menu wrong? I've ordered this same meal multiple times here. I didn't substitute anything, and I didn't order the fries.) Now the waitress, arguing with me about their "mistake " on the menu says she will get the manager (tone of a threat to me - not to make things right). So, I asked that she come back with manager, the "manager" comes back alone, with major attitude and tells me I made her waitress cry. Very confused, I asked how? Manager claims I yelled at her waitress (definitely did not). She also says the menu does not offer soup, so I asked to see the menu, she gets it, I point to "Grilled Cheese with generous portion of tomato basil bisque soup". Now a very aggravated "manager" says "we already told you our menu has mistakes." (Losing track of which story to believe now - we finish eating confused and without soup). A third person brings the bill, in the manner of "bouncer" - I am at this point very frustrated at our treatment - we have done nothing wrong at any point, I did request for something we paid for - never complained (Even left a tip - nothing like we normally do, but reasonable still). A forth person stops us at the door claiming to be the "actual manager". We, assuming she is about to apologize step to the side with her. She explains that she is asking we not come back. We question what is going on and try to tell her what actually happened, she cuts us off threatening to call the police - we still have yet to raise our voices or even complain in any way. She claims we were heard yelling and cussing (Did not happen) - So, I ask who has claimed this - to which a young lady very proudly raises her hand saying she heard me - false, this did not happen. So I ask "what did you hear me say?" - the "manager" now says "we are not doing this, we are asking you to leave and you are banned". We do leave, honestly we have always supported this place because it's local, we have plenty other choices. Seems like this current staff gave us a permanent solution to their temporary problems. read more

First-timers to the Gaslight - I got the EPIC, Bacon Jam Donut Burger, which was an exceptional burger of the month. The glazed donut bun was fluffy, fresh and amazingly juicy (after absorbing the juice from the smashed beef patty). The jam was not overbearing, and the firm bacon was cooked perfectly for this concoction. Highly recommended before September comes along. The wings were cooked the way I like 'em: Crispy, crunchy, and stout and the cauliflower wings appetizer was a hit for the family matriarch. Overall a great, unique introduction to Oxford. read more

Workers are really friendly! Food is average. I have been here twice, once for takeout another for dining in. The time I ordered takeout my food was made wrong and Im glad I caught it before I left! Chicken in my salad both times was dry and chewy almost. Cauliflower pizza was decent and I appreciate that they did offer gluten free. VERY small portion of salad for $10 lunch "special". I have been to Gaslight several times and been pleased. We ordered chicken salads today for pick up and was quite disappointed in the portion size. It was a styrofoam container the size of a small hamburger that was filled exactly to the half rim. The flavor was good but $10 (without tax) was too much for this portion. I realize with inflation prices have risen but they drastically lowered the size of the lunch salads from the past. read more

We were staying at a nearby property and just needed a simple dinner after a long day. I really wanted to be able to score this better because it's a neat concept, good bar / drink choices, and fairly detailed menu. However, there was just something always slightly "off". We admittedly arrived about 5:00 PM so it wasn't busy yet, but there were maybe 6-8 other parties already seated. We waited a couple of awkward minutes at the entrance, unsure if it was seat yourself or if we'd be seated. No big deal. A couple more minutes passed until our server arrived. We did receive an apology for the wait. Again, wasn't really a big deal. Ordered our food and to my surprise the pizza came out really dark in color. It was then explained to me that their pizzas tend to come out undercooked unless the cooks are told to go all the way to well done. Now, the pizza did not taste anything near what it looked (burnt) and it was actually pretty good. But it's true we "eat with our eyes" too, and this is perhaps the third event that really wasn't a big deal... I do wonder why they can't dial it in a bit more in the kitchen though, if this is a known issue? Kind of wish I could go 3.5 stars because I think future visits would be more like 4 stars. The food was great, the distance was social, the place was spotless clean, and the service was top notch. We ordered the buffalo chicken wrap, the Mac and cheese, as well as the barbecue chicken ranch salad with the pretzel appetizers and beer cheese dip. Everything arrived quickly to our table and the five dollar margarita was excellent. Our server was attentive although we were seated in an area far away from the other diners, and a few times we felt like the strategy for service of customers so far apart wasn't as well planned as it should have been. Regardless, that might be the price you pay for a safe dining experience during a pandemic. Our one sour point on the entire visit was getting dessert to go. We ordered the mini cinni and the peanut butter pie. Both were a complete disappointment. We got them to go in the serving portion for the peanut butter pie was almost laughable and the taste was meh. The mini cinni came with ice cream and I received it melted and soupy. I tried to flag our waitress down but because of the distancing of all the tables it was hard to get her attention so I had to go to the front desk to get it replaced. This was the first time I've been in since they switched to Gaslight. The food was delicious, the service not great. Not horrible but could of been better. I had a Fat Daddy Mac which is three of my favorite things shoved into one; mac and cheese, pulled pork, and grilled cheese. It's phenomenal. The sourdough bread it's on is perfectly toasty. It's an amazing sandwich but it can be so messy. My dad had the unlimited soup and salad; he got Chili and a House Salad. He said the salad and chili were very good but not enough (yes unlimited but more on that in a second) I don't usually get dessert but today I decided to good for it and got their Carrot Cake. The waitress said the cake they get from somewhere in Indiana but the frosting is all made in house. The cake was amazing, very moist with great flavor. The frosting was very smooth, creaming, and not shockingly simply delicious. When we got there a little after 2 and there was no one at the podIum to seat us (only one staff we could see that was headed into the kitchen). We had to wait a few minutes before someone walked up and sat us. We didn't have to wait to long to get waited on. The food however took quite a while to come out which is shocking since there were only four other tables (three of which already had their food) and part of our order was just soup and salad. Once we got our food our waitress (the only one waiting tables) checked on us a couple times but never once asked if my dad would like to place another order for soup or salad (so much for unlimited). When I ordered the carrot cake, just a slice of cake, it again took longer than it probably should of. I will be back because the food is fantastic. read more

UPDATE: As Scotty's continuously went downhill, I thought any replacement would be an improvement; The new Gaslight Brewhouse proved me wrong--dead wrong. This was a horrible dining experience. The lunch salad that I ordered wasn't even big enough to be qualified as a side salad. It's embarrassing that the wait staff even tried to defend this. The fried chicken was ice cold, and it still took over thirty minutes to get our food at lunch. I've given this restaurant too many chances, and I'm finished. What a shame. Scotty's is a great addition to Oxford. Lots of different options on the menu, and solid lunch specials. I preferred their old menu, but they recently slimmed down a bunch of options. Very good salads and sandwiches, and prices are usually affordable. The vibe inside is relaxed and fun. I know I can always get a good meal at Scotty's. read more

Mixed experience. Friendly waitstaff seated us quickly and got our drink order. Pointed out to our waitress that there was a big sticky spot that the drink menu actually had to be pried loose from. She said she would be back to wipe it down. We placed our order. (It never got wiped down but the table was big enough we just let the drink menu stick in its spot) I ordered the spicy fried pickle spears to start. They came out quickly but were a 3 on a 10 scale. There were 8 small spears - not one was more than half coated. As a result there was a lot of grease coating the pickle. Flavor was ok but not worth the money or calories. My wife ordered the Special burger. She loved it ! It was a chorizo patty topped with Poblano sauce and other goodies. It had great flavor. Tots as a side were hot, crunchy & not at all greasy.
