Brick Street Bar is great for what it is- a college bar. Don't come here expecting to have a good meal and get great drinks The bartenders only know the most basic of cocktails, they don't have limes- only fake lime juice, the only food is the free chicken they pass out on Saturday afternoons so kids don't pass out, and it's going to be full of drunk kids, that throw their drinks on the ground. Keeping this in mind there are valid criticisms that don't relate to the cleanliness or the crowds. The cover charge to get in for 21+-year-olds is pretty ridiculous, but not as ridiculous as the amount of under 21-year-olds you see that get in through the 21 line. They used to be more concerned about it but it's obvious they just don't care as much. Beat the clock is a fun excuse to drink early on the weekends, but the Natty Light is VERY WATERED DOWN which takes away from the deal (it's already Natty, you're still profiting Will). The atmosphere can be really fun when there's a good DJ, although the regular DJ they have there is pretty mid. read more

At Brick Street you never know what your gonna get, that is if you can even get in. The girls at the door have the authority to judge you based off of looks. My boyfriend wasn't allowed in tonight because the girl at the door 'didn't believe he went to college' even though he showed his drivers license and his college ID, but she denied him saying "it could be fake, i had a fake college ID.....". i believe she was being racist, and judging him off his looks. his ID was real and his other friends got in behind him showing the same student ID's from UC. Something needs to be done about this and have a better system at the door, not discriminating off of looks. read more

Dark, big dance floor, a signature Trash Can drink that looks like Windex, lots of posters which indicates it's a live music venue. We were there before the regulars showed up, which was fine as I didn't need to experience the debauchery of a dive college bar. Oh, First Run (this place will always be known as First Run to me). You get two stars for memories alone. You were there for me when I first discovered Amaretto Sours ten years ago and needed a place that wouldn't judge me because just because of the inconvenience of being underage. You embraced me, my freshman "go-get-em" pants and my backless shirts with open arms. You provided me and my fellow freshmen with man candy that wasn't the least bit interested in us. Yes, I frequented this place a lot when I was 19, and no, I never let a little thing like two gigantic X's on my hands get in the way of enjoying a girly drink or six. I don't know whether theyl've upped the security or what... actually, I don't know much about First Run anymore at all, because the last time I went there, I was only 22 and felt really, really old. After about 5 minutes of being gratuitously felt up on the dance floor, I found a place to sit at the bar and stayed there the rest of the night. I did eat lunch there about six months ago and the service was really, really bad. The food was okay. I think I got a tomato and mozzarella sandwich. But I would imagine the lunch scene is not why you're reading this review. read more

No lmao. This bar is a joke. It's always dirty. The drinks barely contain alcohol. They charge both unders and overs a cover to get in. The bouncers have no clue what's going on, and management is a joke as well. Luckily for them, they have the largest venue space in town. This place is horrible. We went to see a national country act and it was a cluster frack from the get go. We had our tickets at Will Call. No will call window at the bar, called the bar, the girl tells us to come inside for tickets. We go to the door and the cheesy bouncer won't let us in. I told him we called and were told to come in for our tickets. He asked the manager and she finally let us in. Then we stood in line for half an hour. Once inside I tried to order a Sam Adams beer. Sorry, the Sam Adams isn't cold, someone forgot to stock the beer cooler. I would figure if you have a sold out crowd, you have plenty of different brands of ice cold beer. I guess since I wasn't drinking Bud light I was SOL. Finally after two hours into the show, I got a cold Sam Adams. There was no room to sit anywhere, the place was overcrowded, it was overrun with underage kids who were able to buy alcohol at the bar without presenting any type of ID. Plenty of drunk teenagers falling down, throwing up, and passing out. Security was there but nonreactive. There was an ongoing domestic dispute between a boyfriend & girlfriend that was ignored by security. The urinals in the men's room for clogged up and leaking. It was about an inch of urine on the floor that was being tracked out into the main area of the bar. This place is a dump and it's only a matter of time before somebody gets killed in here. read more

There are no rules posted saying that you must have a student ID to enter. That being said, I went there with some friends and one didn't have a Miami ID so they didn't let the in. We said f it and all left without even stepping foot in the building. We asked for a refund because we didn't enter and the employees refused with snarky and rude comments. Proud Miami alum here! Brick-Street will forever be my favorite bar in Oxford. There's absolutely nothing like it to be honest. There's plenty of room to dance and have fun with friends. The patio area is also very spacious as well. Trashcans are the way to go if your ever in town. Do not ask whats in it because I still don't know lol. They are very strict about having a Miami ID nowadays. Before you could get it in with ease. And I still think its kinda lame to charge 21+ to enter in. Where do I begin? The renovations are terrific. The extended Sky Box, chargers along the bar, extra AC, and new and improved lights/sound system/dance floor are amazing. This is by far the best bar in town. And I didn't even mention the Trashcans. read more

I know it's a very busy bar, but I've been standing at the bar before and its taken up to 15 minutes for me to order a drink despite me being one of the first to approach. I try each time I return to like this place, and I just don't. As an undergrad it was a place to drink and dance and get crazy: I was 21 and sheltered in little Oxford. The staff are halfway unpleasant and grumpy, and I thought this is just how it rolls at a bar. Then I moved to Cincy and realized bartenders can be happy and fabulous and everything Brickstreet is not. The floor is always sticky, the drinks are strong but hard to swallow, and the food is mediocre. The only redeeming quality is the fun nights they have, like Monday Karaoke and Wednesday 90's Night. Nostalgia makes this place bearable to remember days gone by, but if you're looking for a drink in Oxford that you'll enjoy, head somewhere else. read more

I used to go to Brick Street a lot when I was an undergraduate at Miami. It's your typical college bar where everyone goes to get sloppy and drink excessively. The place is dirty, bathrooms unkept, and staff is hit or miss. Normally a 2 star bar, but with the renovations and the ability to go up to sky box on the weekends bring it up to 3. Only recommended if you're trying to have one of those nights that know one remembers in the morning. read more
