Miami Tradition
Les R.

Disappointing sums it up. I had the Miami tradition. It was so cold and took forever to get our food. Server only came by to take order and to drop off the check. Some other person brought out the food. Tater tots were amazing. Bathrooms are gross, no soap. I really wanted to like this place more.

This place is located in the back alley with no windows and up the stairs. This is a very local bar restaurant with unique atmosphere. The food was good or average, but it was very nice to visit a local atmosphere in town.

Regular menu prices are a bit steep, but their lunch and happy hour specials are well priced for a college town pub. Our server was new but she did a great job! It's got a lot of personality lacked a tiny space but feels cozy rather than cramped.

Visit to Oxford for my son's football camp. What an awesome town and we hit Mac and Joe's for a fun dinner. Standard pub fare and the service was awesome. We had the the buffalo dip, an order of wings and their "famous turkey sandwich". All was delicious. Not sure if we'll be back to Oxford but wouldn't hesitate in eating here again.

Delicious pizza sub with chips. Definitely my new go to when I drop off my son in Oxford..

Cool ambience. Very old-school feeling dive bar. The food is very good and a nice break from the normal. The menu has a few quirky items which will be fun to try over time.

Cozy pub which prides itself on a 75+ year history. It's small with a lot of seating - great utilization of space- so it's loud. All the booths, chairs and barstools are wood. The end booths have a "snuggery " feel. I noted some early Cincinnati Reds/Pete Rose memorabilia. A lot of TVs for such a small place. The ceiling is very unique! Plenty of beers on tap with numerous rotating craft selections plus an interesting cocktail list. My husband wanted a margarita and it was good! I had a shock top. Along the top of the bar are chalkboards with all the beers and their ABVs listed. I had the curry chicken salad. The chicken salad itself was very good though I thought a little on the salty side. I didn't care for the green salad part though which was all 'mesclun mix' plus chopped tomato/cucumber. Would have been much better over crispy iceberg lettuce. I would have it again but as a sandwich and skip those greens. He had the steakburger, done medium. It was perfect. Both portions were generous and reasonably priced. Service was good and attentive. The tiny bathroom (ladies) was heated and the hot water was HOT; so important on a cold winter's day. They are open 7 days starting at 11 am.

A nice family joint. Mac & cheese bites were okay. Wings were good. Chicken fingers were standard. Service friendly.

Classic bar food, nice staff, college vibe. Exactly what you sign up for when you go. Their only downfall is no coke products.

I started smiling as soon as we walked in. Such a cool and fun atmosphere. Chicago sports memorabilia everywhere you look along with Chicago food favorites on offer. The bar is old and wooden with comfortable seats. It has a really nostalgic feel, like an urban neighborhood pub from decades ago. Plenty of tables, and I've heard rumors of an upper deck that is open at appropriate times. There is also outdoor seating on High Street. The atmosphere is undoubtedly very different on a Friday night when it's packed with upper classmen throwing back shots, but on a weekday late afternoon suppertime I'd say it's family friendly and welcoming to all. (I even saw a sign behind the bar: No explicit lyrics before 9 pm.) There were several staff members at work either making food or behind the bar. They were all quite young, and quite friendly and cheerful. I'm holding off on the fifth star till we get a chance to try the food. We had already eaten and just stopped for a couple of beers (a Truth and a Mich Ultra, on tap). But now I'm writing this I'm getting a serious craving for Italian Beef, so hope to be back soon.

The only issue we encountered is that we had originally wanted the taco pizza, but they were out. The pretzel bites were good but the beer cheese was too strong for me. We both ordered Caesar salads with buffalo chicken fritters, and the chicken fritters were absolutely DISGUSTINGLY salty. We literally could not eat them. At first, we wondered if maybe we were just being overly sensitive to the salt, so we asked the other person we were eating with to try them. Everyone agreed that they were excessively salty and essentially inedible. In fact, one person actually spit it out after tasting it. Unfortunately, we ordered takeout, so we weren't able to send the food back or have it corrected. It was especially frustrating to spend money on food that we simply couldn't eat. I'm hoping this was just an off night, because my son has had really good experiences here before. But the amount of salt in these chicken fritters was far beyond what would be considered acceptable, and I felt it was important to mention it. Like the other reviewer said, it was so terrible it was impressive.

One person did not receive any. I ordered the chef salad with thousand island dressing. Salad was of a good portion but the dressing had very little taste. My wife got the Greek salad and hers tasted fine. My beer (tall draft) Michelob Lite and it arrived flat. I'm going to add that we were here with another couple who said they have been here a dozen times before and the service was never like this. I even saw a snuggery for goodness' sake. And I am SO sitting there when we return soon for a meal. It was just a couple beers this first visit. It's just brick and old wood everywhere you look. Tiffany lamps. It's gorgeous and dark. The beer garden is a big comfy outdoor area, walled off from the street, with tons of tables, all with big umbrellas, plus a comfy couch under its own shelter. I saw four giant heaters ready for the wintertime. The taproom and beer garden are strictly 21+. There's a pulltab dispenser machine for your gambling pleasure. The menu looks interesting, unfortunately nothing on offer that's really English other than fish and chips which is a shame. The atmosphere just cries out for black pudding or a shepherds pie. So I'm really rating 4 1/2 on that account but definitely rounding up, as it is such a cozy feelgood place.
