My health insurance pays for the yearly visit which includes the eye exam which determines what script I need. They claim insurance companies actually "pay" for that script but now many do not. So if the patient pays up front they get their money. If the insurance does by chance cover it ( and mine does- I called) I will get reimbursed. No way am I paying $50 for a script to get glasses. It's part of the visit and exam covered by my insurance! I will most certainly find another eye care provider in which a few scribbles on a pad of paper is included! Seems fishy to me. Any primary visit I have and if I need a script, I don't pay for it. Very bizarre and how funny: my script changed this time. It has been the same for many, many years.

I recently went to vision works to replace my glasses that had a prescription change, initially at…read moremy first visit the lady told me that's even though I had faxed my script over that she would not look to find it because it would take too long. I then went a second time and was told I can have everything switched over for free since my prescription changed, I forgot my old glasses to switch out the frames so I had to go back again. I went back today and waited for an hour and a half, other people that walked in after me were helped first, when I finally sat down with a lady she was yelling at me telling me that my prescription didn't change that much and she doesn't understand the problem. I explained how I can't see out of my glasses and she told me that's it was normal... then proceeded to tell me that if I want new glasses it's going to be over $400 because I waited too long to have my lenses changed. I understand there are rules to everything but I was never informed of this and the staff were very rude to me everytime I had a conversation with them. I ended up leaving holding back tears due to frustration and how upset I was with the customer service provided. I have been going through vision works to get my glasses since I was younger because not a lot of places accepts my insurance. I can say that I have never left satisfied or seen, I work in healthcare and I understand sometimes people are just having an off day, but this is a reoccurring issue.

I called, made sure they accepted my insurance, and made my appointment. A month later I went to my appointment. The doctor and his staff we more than friendly. It was the standard check up with charts, fuzzy eye drops, and picking out frames. I picked up my new glasses 2 weeks later and all is said and done. I can't speak of the prices because my insurance covered everything, I didn't have to pay 1 cent.

I was referred to Vaughan Vision for a refraction by my Opthalmologist because he felt I might need…read moreglasses (he was right of course I just couldn't see it at the time -lol #lamepun). They got me in really quick, and I was surprised to see they had later evening appointments and Saturday appointments-perfect for those of us who work full time for the insurance we rarely get to use because most doctors don't like working Fridays or weekends either. I got in and out very quickly, my appointment took very little time surprisingly, the office was clean and the staff was very friendly and efficient. Dr. Vaughan was honest, frank, and answered my questions addressing concerns thoroughly and efficiently without making me feel like I was keeping him or boring him (that sounds odd but I've had a few eye docs and even worked for one for a while so it's something I've experienced more than once). After my appointment I was taken to the optician, Nikki (who of course was cool as sh*% because we had the same name), and she thoroughly explained my insurance, and helped me find a pair of glasses that not only looked good on my stupid-shaped face, but had beneficial attributes for me -like being lightweight and not giving me a headache because of where they sit on my ears. I also want to say that their selection of glasses was much better than other places I've been to in the area. They didn't all look exactly alike and their was a variety of brands and styles, and they didn't look like my mother or grandmothers glasses from 1980. I even found sunglasses I liked-which was important to me because I wear them for driving and get migraines. My glasses were ordered and I was out in like an hour from beginning to end. My glasses came in about a week as expected, and they gave me a few extra cleaning cloths and solution that they would refill for free anytime-unheard of in my experience and really awesome for those of us who clean their glasses frequently. This is also where the unique hours really helped me out because I didn't have to take off work to go pick them up! And I know if I ever need them adjusted I won't have to take off for that either.
