My family had been with the same eye care practitioner for almost ten years, and suffered through countless patient service issues (front desk, optometrist, technicians, etc.) Still, we liked and trusted the docs and that kept us going back. However, when I recently tried to make appointments for all five of us to have eye exams, I was told we were only allowed to schedule two people per family per day. Hmmm...news to me even though I'm a long-time patient and have never missed an appointment. So, rather than suffer three 60-minute round trips, I went looking for another practitioner. I found Vaughn Vision, which is closer to home and accepts my insurance. When I called to make appointments, I was treated with warmth and kindess. This was a refreshing change already. I had to call back and switch appointments around more than once, and it was never a problem. The first patient in my family to see Dr. Vaughn was my 13-year old daughter, who needed a a new supply of contact lenses. She had been seen in July and her prescription had not changed at that time. It was now December. Yet, something told me to ask her on the way to the appointment if she was still seeing alright. She confessed that "things are a little blurry." Great! I had only scheduled a fitting and now she needed an eye exam too. Dr. Vaughn was more than accommodating and was able to give her a full exam so we could order the correct lenses that day. My husband and I went next, and he noted how thorough the exam was, which was also not something we were used to from our past practitioner. I can't remember the last time my eyes were even dialated, but they were at Vaughn Vision. We were all set, then my younger daughters (10 and 6) had exams. My six year old really wanted glasses, but it was not to be -- this year anyway. My ten year old was interested in moving from glasses to contact lenses, which Dr. Vaughn said she could do without a problem. The only problem was teaching her how to put them into her eyes! We ended up making three trips to the office, and stayed over an hour each time, while she attempted to put in and take out her lenses. I was amazed by Dr. Vaughn's patience during this ordeal. As opposed to my older daughter's first contact lenses experience at our former practitioner (where she worked with a tech who constantly told her she was taking too long and spent most of the time huffing irritatedly), Dr. Vaughn stayed with my 10 year old the entire time, and gave her nothing but positive encouragement. Even I had to step away every once in a while, as the process was excruciating! She has now mastered her lenses and loves them. We love Vaughn Vision! read more
