Interesting experience. I called a well-known tree service company that had an arborist but despite a conversation with the office, as well as sending a text with photos of the tree problem and shrubbery issues, and the promise that an arborist would look at the photos, I never heard back from the company. After several days, I gave up and called Garrett Tree Services and spoke with Theo,. He came over to the residence very quickly, took a look at the problem and made his suggestions. I thought I was dealing with a major fungus problem with a tree and a large shrub, it really looked bad. But he said that this could be normal aging, treatment wasn't needed at this time because that was very expensive to do, and that we should just prune and clean up the plants and see how they did, revisiting the issue if it recurred. it looked pretty bad and I figured the neighbors thought we were trashing the street. :-) Anyway, Theo turned up the next day with two other people and in about an hour they had the large pear tree pruned and cleaned up, the large shrub in front of the house pruned and trimmed and shaped, and they hauled away a large limb from a water oak that had fallen in the last storm. He charged a very good price and I was happy to pay and not worry about things anymore. If there are issues down the road, then I can call Theo, and we'll look at it and discuss it again, but for now I think everything's in great shape and the front garden certainly looks better attended. I called Garrett Tree Service yesterday for a second estimate for tree trimming, the person who gave us our first estimate was pretty flaky. Anyway, we met with TC from Garrett Tree Service. TC was awesome. He is a great guy with a wonderful personality. He and my husband hit it right off which is saying a lot since my husband is always skeptical. Anyway, TC knew exactly what we wanted. We decided to go with Garrett even thought our first estimate was less. The main reason because they seemed like an honest company with great customer service. The crew came out today since we are expecting rain all next week. They did a fantastic job on the trees. The trees should come back this Spring and look great. Did a good job thinning out my large oak. You can tell professional jobs from DIY's. After some point my little electric chain saw was no match for this tree and had to call someone in to clean it up. Now I will get more light and water down the yard as well help protect the tree from hurricanes and other high wind speed storms. Some people let their tree grow into the ground or worse, let it make contact with the roof. If you're a homeowner with a tree this is eventually something you will need to do and after seeing the results here I think I'll use them again. read more

All my concerns to get my tree trimmed and healthy went away when I decided to go with this AWESOME team of professionals for an arborist! The job was done with good planning, safely and by skilled tree men. There were large, dead and dying limbs as high as up 30ft high on the tree, this concerned me most. I have also had many large limbs fall out of the tree, even without a strong wind. I would feel absolutely awful if one of those limbs were to fall down and cause injury. Now, with hurricane season coming, this pushed me to pull the trigger and give the green light to start the job on the same day as our initial meeting and estimate. Not only did the 4 man crew come quickly after the agreement, they got started quickly and worked like a well-oiled machine. I couldn't have been more pleased with the outcome! I hired TC last year to trim my large oak trees, tall palm trees, and mulch my yard. TC replied to my inquiry the same day and he came out to see me either that day or the next day. We walked my property (which is about one acre) and talked about each tree individually. What I liked was that TC is not about a quick fix. We talked about the health of the tree and about how we want the property to look as the trees matured. I want it to look like the stately manor that it is. Ok, money talk, haggle, haggle, haggle! Ok, this is in my blood. TC might be easy, but he sure ain't cheap. I told him this too! After agreeing on a price, he had guys out the next day. When the guys were trimming and thinning out the branches, they had let all the branches and leaves fall into my pool! After they trimmed a certain tree, I decided I wanted that tree removed. I went out and told them to remove the tree. The guy was very polite and told me that he would have to talk to TC, totally understand, he was ensuring that there was good communication between all of us. After a few minutes, he removed the tree for me. They continued working on my property when I had to step out for a bit. When I drove up to my house, I could not recognize it. It was so beautiful. Ladies, its like getting a makeover for your hair, new color and cut. The trees really took my breath away. I can now picture putting up an old fashioned swing on one oak branch and climbing up another branch to enjoy the view from up top. I remembered my pool with all the leaves and branches. They cleaned it. They cleaned up everything. Let's talk about the mulching in the front yard. TC underestimated the amount of mulch so I ended up having to pay him extra. They did clear out the weeds for me before mulching. If you hire their mulching service, get a jug of Preen ready to make sure the weeds don't grow back. I also had to pay a little extra to cut down the tree I mentioned earlier. It's been a year and the trees are growing in nicely and are all healthy. Final verdict--He's expensive, but I would definitely hire him again. He's worth every penny. read more

The guys did an excellent job, we even got compliments from neighbors. They cleaned up so well that you wouldn't even know they had been there, other than how much better the trees looked! We had a giant palm tree and stump taken out, a couple of large topiary trees removed, and all of our trees trimmed/cleaned up. I touched base with TC on yelp, and eventually spoke with him on the phone throughout the day (via text and then on the phone). He was very nice and professional on the phone and put my worries at ease about having my trees trimmed while I wasn't home (I have dogs so was concerned they would be upset by it). He was able to get me a quote the same day, and after I agreed to the price they were able to come quite quickly (the same week) to complete the job. Even though I was not home they did a great job trimming the trees and getting it away from my house, while also ensuring it would grow up in the future. Even in the midst of quarantine, TC and the guys at Garrett were on top of things. I called and was able to talk to them right away. They were very friendly and professional. When TC came out for the quote he was respectful and approachable. The cost was fine (tree pruning is not the cheapest service, after all). I called this service because of the excellent YELP reviews and was not disappointed. Response with in 2 hours and TC came out that evening to assess and give a quote. I had 2 pines that had dies, one was close to 3 feet in diameter and 80 feet tall. It was amazing watching the process of them taking down that giant. And it was maybe 8 feet from the back of the house and porch, but nothing was damaged. That's professional work! All of the crew were very friendly and I got to meet Theo, TC's son who came right up to me and introduced himself and shook my hand. I am really pleased with the customer service and the work performed. They did a great job trimming up our trees. No complaints, they were professional, courteous, prompt and no surprises. We now have more light coming through to our backyard. Also, we asked them to avoid a nest in our front yard and they even avoided a Robin's nest in our backyard we didn't know was there.
