Jorge and Houston Tree Team did work on my neighbors property and I watched their guys drop a huge limb on the roof of my shed. When I asked the guy point blank if there was any damage he said no. When I went up there, of course there was damage. Now I have to take them to court because even though I saw them do it, they said they didn't. I contacted the company via Yelp and had an estimate from Jorge the same day. The estimate was the lowest of the three I had obtained. Mind you the other two estimates were from highly rated company's as well. I decided around noon to choose HTT and to my amazement, they came out around 1pm to do the job. This involved cutting down 2 large pine trees in my front yard. The largest 80 foot tall tree was only 3 feet from the house and surrounded by landscape plants. The team from HTT were very careful and after the Job was done only one branch on a shrub and a corner of a piece of flagstone sustained damage. I fully expected much more damage. I was impressed with their skill to zip line the huge pine branches into the middle of the yard avoiding the extensive plantings around the trees. I've had many trees cut down and I have never seen that technique! The cleanup of my property was sufficiently done with only a few pine cones and needles left. I had read all of the reviews regarding HTT and saw only a couple of administrative complaints. The technical expertise of the crew was extraordinary. They all worked together and it appeared they ran like a well oiled machine! After the trees were down the stumps were ground and everything raked and cleaned up to my satisfaction. I called the Houston Tree Team to have get a quote on trimming four trees rooted in an easement behind our house. They were able to have George dispatched the same day, and he arrived within the time frame provided by the receptionist. George quickly provided an estimate and was able to get the work scheduled for the following morning. The team arrived early the next morning (about 30 min ahead of schedule) and got to work immediately. Cesar and Carlos made an impressive team with Carlos climbing and cutting while Cesar spotted for Carlos and trimmed down the dropped limbs. They worked together to make sure the canopy of the trees remained balanced and aesthetically pleasing. Carlos also made a conscious effort to minimize any damage (gouges/dents) to the lawn by lowering and dropping the limbs bushy end first, to break the fall. He also kept an eye on safety by always ensuring his harness was properly secured prior to cutting. When all the cutting and clearing was finished, Cesar went over the lawn with a leaf blower to make sure none of the smaller twigs were left behind. This company is staffed with very experienced individuals, who conduct themselves professionally and are a real pleasure to work with. I hired Houston Tree Team to cut my tree in my backyard. They seemed nice at first but the problems quickly arose. Here are the highlights of what they did wrong: 1. The first quote they gave me was $300 to cut the tree above my roof. 2. I agreed and they came out the next day but discovered they had given me a quote for the wrong tree. So they changed it to $1500. Ok fine, it's a big tree. 3. The day they were supposed to cut the tree, they argued with me for HOURS about what should be cut or not. We had already agreed to what was SUPPOSED to be done, however they stopped working and said they would not do anything more. I had to pay them an EXTRA $350 to finish cutting the treat like we had ORIGINALLY AGREED. I got SCAMMED. Moral of the story is: - Take pictures of your tree and circle each branch to be cut - Keep a record of your conversations with them (not over the phone) to make sure they stick to their word - If you can, find a different company to work with Hope this helps others!! read more

Got several quotes from several different tree companies. Their price was great and their work was amazing! Couldn't tell by looking at the ground that they had even been there. It wasn't until I looked up that I could really see they had come. The trees look amazing! I couldn't be happier. They trimmed my two tall oaks, my one massive oak (that is about 7' wide) and my one large magnolia. My only regret is that I didn't get them to trim the rest of the trees on the property. I had numerous estimates from other companies. Decided to go with Houston tree team for their price point and the fact their quote showed the companies insurance certificate. They had to cancel due to weather, which is totally understandable. When they showed up promptly the next day I was impressed how fast they started to work. Within minutes they had one team in the front yard trimming two pines and one more team in back yard trimming a water oak tree. I would say it took them an hour to have everything trimmed and cleaned. They did an awesome job of cutting all dead limbs and opening up the upper canopy. I really wish that I had read John D.'s review on Houston Tree Team before hiring HTT's services. I am writing this review after having them do work on my yard today and regretting the experience. At 1st they seemed very nice and easy to work with but things were just as John D.'s review predicted. This morning they claimed that the estimate was undervalued. My original quote was for a tree removal of an unhealthy tree, a tree timing on a tree close to power lines and a tree topping (i.e. reduction of at least 10 feet) of my tallest tree + an existing stump grinding and hauling. HTT ended only doing partial trimming of 2 of the trees and major trimming of the one I wanted removed. They did do an additional stump grinding. But in essence, I will still have to call another company in order to remove the tree that is unhealthy and to do tree topping on the tallest tree I got in the yard. If I had read John D's review I would have sent them away this morning the second they claimed that the quote was wrong. All of the lessons his review stated do apply: - take pictures of your tree and circle all the work that needs to be done - keep a written record of all conversations and always associate an agreed upon action to the picture of the tree (i.e. they will try to claim that they meant a different tree). - do your best to find a different company to work with. read more

After receiving an estimate from HTT for tree trimming service, I scheduled the actual service for a subsequent Saturday morning. HTT then failed to show up for the scheduled service. And not only did they not show up, no one even bothered to call me to inform me they weren't coming. So after rearranging my day to set aside the scheduled service time, I ultimately ended up with a wasted Saturday. Several weeks later, I called HTT again to give them a second chance. Again I scheduled service for the following Saturday morning and was told someone would call before end-of-week to specify a particular service time. By Friday afternoon, no one had called to confirm my appointment time, so I called HTT to inquire. I spoke with Denise, who told me I wasn't on her schedule for service the next day. Irritated, I reminded her that we had spoken earlier that week and that she scheduled me for service that Saturday. She again said she had no record of that. So I told her I would call another tree trimming service to arrange for the service, one that was competent enough to not botch -- twice -- a scheduled service appointment. She later called back telling me that I was in fact on their schedule for that Saturday, an obvious attempt to shoe-horn me in at the last minute after realizing that HTT had dropped the ball not once, but twice. Incompetent. Don't waste your time with this company, there are too many other good tree service companies in Houston competing for your business! My neighbor hired Houston Tree Team to trim his dying tree. I was kind enough to allow them access to my back yard to make their job easier. I have a brand new 8' stained cedar fence that they carelessly drug their oversized branches along and severely scratched in various places plus they damaged my gate. I spoke with the crew leader who told me his boss would come by to look at the damages. My neighbor paid them in cash when they finished, so of course the owner never showed. Why would they? Their phone number will get you in touch with Denise who told me that it was my neighbors fault that my new fence has been severely scratched. She would not give me the contact information for the owner of the company and even went so far as to tell me he did not have a phone which is clearly a lie. She told me I need to pressure wash the fence and restain it. Wow thank you for the advice! I guess I will just be out the few hundred dollars that will cost. They got their money and screwed me over in the process, but clearly these people do not care. Who would want to support a business like this? read more

I had a large old oak next to my garage that needed to come down. It had dropped a 5" diameter limb through my house roof about 6 years ago and now that I have a car parked under it, I got that uneasy feeling. After reading the HTT reviews and others, I gave HTT a call for an estimate. They showed up the same day as my call and on time because I had to meet friends for lunch. The estimate was good so when I asked when they could take the tree out and stump it, the answer was, "how about today?" I wasn't expecting that but said I would be gone until 3 PM (this was at 11:15 or so). I got back at 3 PM and they had finished about 10 minutes earlier. I knocked one star off because I wanted the 2 bushes gone with the trees, and they didn't remove the 2 bushes because it wasn't written on the work order. Jorge Ramos, the owner, came by a few weeks ago and gave me a quote. It was so much more reasonable compared to the other quotes that I got. His office staff was very helpful with our special needs. The crew that came out to do the job, couldn't have been more considerate and their work ethic was outstanding. They finished up the job very quickly, but their work was professional and thorough.
