We've been utilizing Houston Tree Surgeons' services for the last 6 years for tree trimmings and removals. Unfortunately, after the last storm, we decided to go ahead and remove all of our 8 mature pines (75'-100' tall each) and a fallen one. Not only were they reasonably priced compared to the other quotes we received, they were fast, efficient and extremely responsive. We did had a minor mishap, but they completely took care of what was needed and we're truly thankful for their services. We now have peace of mind when we sleep at night knowing we don't have massive trees directly looming over our property anymore. We had an issue with an ornamental pear tree so we called HTS and easily schedule an appointment. An actual tree doctor came out, diagnosed the problem and provided a solution. Plus we learned a lot of very important info concerning our other yard trees and what trees to put in more likely to last in the future. Considering all the monies spent on the trees we've lost because of recent freezes, the cost for them to come out was less than a 15 gallon tree. What a bargain.! Very glad we called them. read more

They have removed several trees over the years, and fixed some things to let my trees become healthier, and trimmed the large oak so it wouldn't scrape my roof. This time around I called them about a large dead tree, and got an estimate the next day, and the tree removed the day after I agreed to have it done. Oh, and their estimate was about half the price I expected it to be. To make things more complicated, the tree was sitting tightly between my fence and my garage. I have no idea how they managed to remove it without any damage to anything, but they did! To make all of this even more perfect, all communication can be done via email and you don't have to be home for any of this. I am incredibly impressed with Houston Tree Surgeons. I bought a townhome with a nuisance of a palm tree in the front yard. #1 I hate palm trees, #2 its hideous (see before photo.) Of course, my HOA also doesn't care for this palm tree so I'm not quite sure why it was placed there in the first place. I received several quotes for trimming as did my neighbor, and Houston Tree Surgeons was by far the most reasonable. And their work is glorious. The palm tree actually looks pretty good now. As context I have a massive oak tree in my front yard, and the 3 additional trees running between my property and my neighbors. We wanted the branches cleaned up. I see 2 types of reviews for this our tree project. 1) The impact: I did not appreciate nor know the improvement in quality and beauty from having Houston Tree Surgeon come and work. My grass gets sun now, the natural light on our patio is incredible. Opens up the whole space. It would be dramatic, but i can't say it any other way, it has changed our outdoor life and home. 2) The experience: Estimate came as the least of 3 - but the variation in pricing was about $200 on a $1000 job. Making an appointment was easy, just had to be in for the following week by the Friday afternoon appointment publishing (I would guess that during busier times, that might change). The team came, introduced themselves, and worked diligently to do more than i expected. The complaints: like folks who review restaurants who they say they did not have a reservation, waited 2 hours and the food was amazing - yet only give 1 star. The team did arrive late, but i am not that type of reviewer. The team worked hard, was organized, and respectful. It is understandable they are busy and run a few hours late. HTS did a fantastic job with the trees in our yard. They took our wishes into account and ensured that the trees were properly shaped, and cut back to eliminate any brushing on homes. They also did a great job ensuring any debris that fell into our neighbors' yards was cleaned up, and took care to get any debris out of our pool as well. If I could give 0 stars I would. Don't believe their coverage map. I am within their service area, but 1st said their service didn't go that far south. I told them to get that fixed on Yelp. Then they gave me a different coverage that was even past my address. I know the location service on Yelp is identifying my address correctly. This is the second time I have used this company to remove trees in my front yard and once again they have impressed me. They are professionals and the tree surgeon name is fitting. I have never seen anyone remove trees, grind stumps, clean up and haul off so fast and with such accuracy. I was not that impressed. Had $8,000 of tree trim work. They did not use a chipper, so I ended up with branches over my front yard until next morning because their truck was full. Chipper would have resolved this. I have large trees and never had a Tree Co. not use a chipper. read more

I may a request for an estimate online. I followed up with a phone call. I was told that someone would be out on Thursday. I followed up on Thursday morning and was told that the appointment wouldn't occur until Friday. The biggest problem is that once the estimate is made you must wait another couple of days before the job can be done. It appears to me the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. A stellar establishment in terms of promptness, thoroughness, quality of work and honesty. I needed advice on a number of issues, some small ones mine, but their larger problems were my neighbors trees. It was one of those very cold drizzly nasty days in early February that I had my consult. Dustin must have spent 45 minutes out there listening to all my woes, taking photos and giving advice continually. He's very passionate and knowledgeable about his work. I received my quote (with embedded photos!) and ones for my neighbors that evening. I had my work done the following week and one of my neighbor had hers done by Houston Tree Surgeons last Friday. They cut down the tree in my neighbor's yard as it was a very old Ash rotting from the inside about to fall on my home. What an efficient job of cutting the tree down and terrific job cleaning up in my yard (and theirs) as about 1/3 of the tree ended up in my yard. I told them it was fine to use my yard for access or whatever they needed. Such a professional cleanup! Wow! The neighbor opted to go with an independent person for the stump grinding yesterday. He left a terrific mess in my yard and hers. Houston Tree Surgeons isn't the least expensive but you absolutely get what you pay for with them. One neighbor down, one to go. The roots of my other neighbors cypress tree have invaded half my front yard such that I can't take a step without tripping on a root. I'm concerned for what the roots may be doing to my foundation and again, Houston Tree Surgeons offered expert advice on the situation. Wish me luck with that neighbor, although I think he will come through because I have great neighbors on both sides. read more

I waited a week for them to come to my property to assess a leaning tree from a storm which needed to be cabled. They said the trip out would cost 150$ which would be applied to my service. I was told I would get an estimate. I waited till the following week, called and then was told I would need to wait longer for the estimate. I asked to go ahead and get on e schedule for service as I waited for estimate. I was put on the schedule for weeks end (now two weeks from date I called for service). I received an email stating my time for that service date. I called the evening before my service date because I never got an estimate and was told that there were complications on my tree and service couldn't be provided. Furthermore, the tech would call me the following day and explain why. (Which he never did) . These people are terrible don't waste your time because they will waste yours! I finally got another landscape company to come cable my tree and it looks great . read more

I know there is a sea of five-star reviews. My experience does not warrant that rating. The initial consultation/diagnosis was prompt, thorough, and helpful. But the follow-up was unsatisfactory. When I asked when the treatment would occur, I was told that I would receive a text on the morning of treatment...no more advance notice or specific information than that. Also, after hearing one of my trees was dying, I wanted the treatment ASAP, but after waiting patiently for more than TWO WEEKS, I finally had to call and say that if they couldn't visit by the end of the day tomorrow, I would cancel. So then they showed. I just wasn't impressed with the time they spent on the treatment or its effectiveness...even on the more healthy trees. Also, although I knew the charges up front, in hindsight the charge (four figures) did not seem to be reasonable. I paid it and have moved on. read more

The arborist came out to diagnose and treat one of my trees. I got a quick response after my initial call and the arborist was quick and courteous when he came to my place. I did a horrible job explaining what I needed because this was my first time having tree issues but Dustin was patient and he took his time figuring out what I was saying and made a game plan for how to fix it. I had them trim an overgrown oak and 2 pecans that need some TLC. the oak looks great and the pecans look much better (though no leaves right now so it's harder to tell). Dustin saved our beautiful tree... I'm so happy to be able to write those words. See, almost a year ago we noticed a critter had made home right at the base of our tree, right INSIDE IT!!! But that's not all. We realized the base of the tree was now HOLLOW. Hollow and mushy in some areas. Mushy!!! Mind you, this a beautiful Chinese Tallow that is about 50ft high, is angled and stands less than 20ft from my 3-story home. I'm a tree lover as is, but this tree was a factor in buying our home: it gave us good privacy from neighbors as well as made the view from our living room and bedroom simply gorgeous. I love watching the seasons come ago looking at it and was beyond broken-hearted thinking we would likely need to cut it down. Dustin explained what he was observing (he did not sugar coat things) and put together a plan and explained the options we would have as milestones in that plan were reached (or not). He guided us through each step and and was incredibly patient (I asked a ridiculous amount of questions, sometimes more than once I bet, because I was so emotional about the situation - not to mention concerned for our home!). He has applied 3 treatments now and the root is healing beautifully. Our tree is looking strong and happy. Look no further - Houston Tree Surgeons is the best tree company out there. Incredible experience, from the professional arborist consult to the final cleanup. The team was so professional, friendly and efficient. We had a tree in the deep back corner of our yard that was 70% dead with limbs (one completely dead) hanging precariously over our garage apartment and the neighboring apartment complex. There was a fence built to each side of it and electrical wires everywhere. It was roughly 85' tall and maybe 100 years old (a shame to have to take it down, really). This work is dangerous and has to be carefully planned and executed. This team was so good that even our neighbors came to watch. Great company, fair prices, excellent service.
