Mylon and Malikyah were very friendly and sweet and helped me out. Customer Service always makes it better.
Fast and friendly service. The two employees were both very patient w us and helpful. Popcorn is really good every visit. Consistency is key here- you know you'll get the good stuff lol. Wish they had seating.
The ladies at this location weren't super friendly on Sunday night. We weren't greeted when we walked in and they weren't very helpful or accommodating to the customers in front of us. We came in wanting kettle corn and the lady in front of us asked for some, but the display case was barely empty. One of the workers went back and grabbed 2 small buckets to "fill" the case and said, "that's all we got after this." Oh okay. Lol There's plenty of Garrett's around. Literally every couple blocks there's a Garrett's so we walked a little further for (hopefully) better service and kettle corn.
The line was a decent length at 12:30pm on a Tuesday. There 10 people in front of us and it tus about 5-10 minutes to place our order. I ordered the caramel crisp and it was super tasty.
Classic. One of our first stops in Chicago. I remember eating Garrett's popcorn whenever flying through Chicago as well as having it at home whenever someone brought some back after visiting the city. It was just as (if not more) tasty eating it on-site. For the ultimate and somewhat unexpected combination of sweet & savory, go for the mix of cheddar and caramel. Delicious.
Seeing that this location lacks in customer service- it comes up one star short. Went in on a Sunday evening and upon arriving to the front of the line I was told that the caramel corn was a 15 minute wait (they were still making it). I said okay, could I pay for it now and return to pick it up? Their reply; "We can't do that". (Why ???) they say "it's first come first serve " My reply; "I'm here now!".... Suggestion number 2- I asked if I could wait in the store until the popcorn was ready? Their reply; "we can't do that". (Again, why???) are we seeing a running theme here? Seems like these two can't do much of anything except tell you what they can't do. So, since I wasn't allowed to wait it out, I purchased the sad corn that remained at the bottom of the bins. When I then finished with my purchase and was waiting for my ride to pick me up off of the busy street, I was asked why I was waiting in the store? I had said I was waiting for my ride. I will give you one guess as to their reply... You guessed it, "YOU CAN'T DO THAT". So, they had me wait outside on a cold Chicago night when the real feel was 8 degrees. So, now the big question is; Will I be going back to the Garrett's on Randolph? "I CAN'T DO THAT!"
If you visit Chicago and don't go to Garrett, did you really go to Chicago? Having been a veteran of many Garrett visits, I've found that the CaramelCrisp and CheeseCorn are my favorite flavors here. Everything is always super fresh and holds very well even after taking it back to wherever it is you visited from. Staff here were very friendly. Told me of a sick deal for a tin and a bag of popcorn for $25, which is definitely substantial savings as a regular-sized tin is $33. Definitely get yourself some Garrett if you're in Chicago. It's the best!
I like popcorn and every time I'm in Chicago I try to stop by Garrett's to get some for the road. On a recent trip to the city we passed by this shop as we were walking back to our hotel from dinner. We caught them just before closing, which was evident by the look of the popcorn cases and by the employees' attitudes. A few of us wanted tins to carry on the plane but we were told that there wasn't enough of the Chicago mix - cheddar and caramel - left for two orders. There appeared to us to be more than enough actually and after mine was filled, the employees realized this. I just so happened to be with family a few days after my Chicago trip so we opened the tin and dug in. The sweet caramel and savory cheese hits all the right notes for me every time. Until next time...
We stopped by Garrett Popcorn for a quick treat. We ordered a regular buttered popcorn. Unfortunately, it did not taste fresh. As my son put it, the regular buttered popcorn was o.k. I was disappointed, but plan on going back to try other popcorn options.
3.5 stars but minus .5 for "friendliness." Great popcorn - indifferent service. We dropped in as the flyer that came with our bus tour - that came with our City Pass - offered a free sample. Since we had 2 passes, we received 2 samples of the house blend. The house blend is cheddar and caramel which is a great combo. The samples were a good size - think sandwich bag - so decent for free. We also purchased a large to take home but a couple of nights in a hotel room didn't really allow for survival. By the time we got home, the staleness has started so eat soon or plan to store in an airtight container. They offer samples but employees seemed disinterested in any kind of customer service so I subtracted half a star for this location.
I've passed by so many Garrett's that I've lost count. We finally stopped inside to try the popcorn that is the talk of the town. We couldn't settle on which flavor to buy, so we bought all 3 (butter, cheese, caramel). I've tried them together and apart. Each flavor is pretty tasty. I had high expectations, as so many people told me I "HAVE to try it". The popcorn is a good texture and they are super flavorful. I would say that it's a little too salty for my preference, but the hubby loved it. It's worth checking out. My fav: caramel.
I have to stop by here every trip to Chicago! Just next door to the Nederlander theater, this shop is small and less crowded than others. Staff is friendly and gives free samples in cute mini bags. I got a small bag of cheesecorn (approx $5). read more

Whenever I'm in Chicago, I make it a point to go to Garrett's. (I adore their cheddar cheese popcorn.) When walking back to the car, we stopped by this location on Monday, December 4th around 1:45pm. There was a bit of a line, but it wasn't too bad. Probably waited about 10-15 minutes. Since we were going to be in Chicago for another couple of days, I just got a medium CheeseCorn ($5.80). I know their Garrett Mix: caramelcrisp & cheesecorn is popular, but I'm not a huge fan of sweet and savory together. That cheesecorn though. Cheesy, buttery, and so rich! I love it! We actually finished the whole bag before we headed back home, so I bought more at another location the next day. This location is convenient due to the area. Bottom Line: Oddly addicting popcorn. I rarely eat popcorn but for some reason I feel compelled to visit Garrett's when in Chicago. And I soon find my hands covered in sticky caramel and cheese residue. While this popcorn isn't something I'd order or carry home on the plane with me, I do enjoy sharing a small bag (or two) of the "Garrett's Mix" (formerly Chicago Mix) when in town. read more

Nice store around the corner. Easily missed but it's a worthwhile stop. Freshesh popcorn are the best. A few of the selections are not available in the pre packaged ones such as walnut and peach cam caramelized popcorn. They are absolutely delicious. read more
This Garrets Popcorn is a decent location. Unfortunately, I didn't smell that fresh popped aroma that I normally smell upon entering the other Garretts locations. The customer service was decent. I always get a Cheddar and Caramel mix. This time it was a tad bit salty. The store was clean. The line was short with fast service. read more
The popcorn here is okay in my opinion. I personally think some of the flavors are too sweet. They do have good deals if you're buying it as a souvenir to bring home. I do like that they let you sample some of the popcorn flavors before you decide what you want! read more

Garrett's is a must try if you're visiting Chicago. Before my visit, I've read about this place and how their popcorn make great souvenirs to bring home too. This was my second visit to Garrett's since arriving and I was back to pick up some freshly made popcorn to bring home. My favorite was the caramel mix. While I'm not usually a fan of caramel in general, this was really good. The Garrett mix of the cheddar and caramel is popular but I couldn't get on board with the salty and sweet combination. They offer other flavors like cheddar cheese, caramel and almond, caramel and cashew, and butter popcorn. They even had a a caramel and white chocolate mix for a limited amount of time too. The white chocolate and caramel and almond were just not as good as the caramel by itself. Skip the butter flavor too. That one was the least impressive. This location is their most popular location and they're constantly making fresh batches of popcorn throughout the day. We ended up buying two of the one gallon buckets of just the caramel to bring home. It's that addicting. read more

Who doesn't like Garrett Popcorn. They staff is really friendly and ordering is super simple as they had the basic flavors for you to choose and sample from. Caramel is my favorite, the right about of sweetness and crunch. Beware of the buttery one as it makes your hands orange due to its full explosion of flavors. It's made fresh daily and service is quick. read more

A Chicago classic! We happened to be walking by right when they opened, and were able to grab a bag really quickly! Or course, we had to go with the Chicago mix -- chedder with caramel -- but it also looked like they had a lot of other exciting flavors. But if it ain't broke, why fix it? The Chicago mix is the perfect balance if sweet and salty, and is so gosh darn addicting. They do include some napkins in the bag, but it's probably a good idea to grab some more because the cheese can get a little messy and greasy. For $7 a medium size is pretty big. Shareable with maybe 3 or 4 people, especially if people aren't trying to eat too much. Regardless, Garrett's is the perfect treat for any time and would be a great gift for anyone! read more

I hate so much that I love Garrett's so much and they are not out West in Arizona. I crave it constantly. There's nothing even remotely like it here. We've even got so many Chicago people here that we have Portillos, Lou Malnati's, Giordano's, the Cubs, the White Sox, but we can't have Garrett's??? Seriously? I end up spending like $50 every time I go to visit just in popcorn. It's insane. It's probably for the better that they aren't here. read more
You have to have Garrett's when visiting Chicago! My favorite is the cheese and Carmel mix! The popcorn is so amazing. It is expensive for popcorn but I make sure to get it every time I can! It's delicious and you can smell it for blocks! read more
