The selection of chocolates was very large. This is where the old Ghirardelli store was. The dark chocolate peppermint latte was average. Checkout was fast.

Ehhh. Located in the former Ghirardelli location, this new chocolate shop and beverage Café has been gaining traction around the globe and social media. I decided to check it out while in town because I do like a café style hot chocolate/drinkable chocolate. It's adorable when you walk in as there are many displays of various types of chocolate, truffles, etc. very well packaged and displayed. Seems reasonably priced although I haven't tasted them for flavor or freshness. I approached the counter. It was warmly greeted by two female employees. I opted for the hot chocolate flight to kind of get a well-rounded flavor of multiple drinks. It was brought to my table a few minutes later. I opted for the vegan version. It came with a 80% dark, peppermint, hot chocolate, I think a hazelnut version and a surprise which seemed to be like a chili ginger. To be honest, it was just OK. I know they use less sugar and they want the chocolate flavors to come through, which is fine and that's what you taste. However overall, the flavors were just OK. For $10 it was fun just to try it. They offer another one which is a classic tasting/flight which had other flavors like salted caramel, 70% dark, etc. I opted not to have the chocolate whipped cream, but it did look delicious. I did end up purchasing three different varieties of chocolate. Those are normally eight dollars each or three for 20. Neighborhood parking lot some street parking but I would use public transportation. Just a minute off of Michigan Avenue near Loyola university. Close to a lot of other tourist areas. You can easily take the 151 bus to get here it's a few minutes walk from the Chicago redline station. It's worth a shot to try once I probably wouldn't come back as I think there's other better hot chocolate/coffee/beverage cafés throughout the city.

Love all of it! The cafe is large enough to hold lots of customers and still be able to move easily! There is a nice bow front window with seating and great displays of very interesting chocolate. Our order taker was the nicest and our drinks came out quickly and accurately! The hot chocolate was absolutely the best I've ever had. Just wonderful Tasty chocolate! I had 85% with the whip and I'm thinking about going back today!

While the chocolate is good it's not any better than Ghirardelli or Lindt.

If you want to try to find something new for a change, check out Hotel Chocolat. The Classic hot with 70% real chocolate with milk is amazing. There are plenty of high level chocolate products to choose with beautiful packaging for gift giving. The service is good. Friendly casual staff. The noise level can vary. I like to go earlier in the morning when it's quiet and I can write in my journal and plan out my weekend. By 10am, young parents with kids tricks in for parent meetups. There is the occasional book club that gathers at the community stainless steel table. I suggest wearing headphones if you plan on staying for a few hours to focus. I forgot to mention that there is a small assortment of pastries to pair with a selection of hot, iced, and frozen chocolate concoctions. Enjoy!

My fav so far is the macaroon and sour cherry. Did not like the strawberry cheesecake as a candy though. I hear, they had 5 stores in New York which shut dpwn sometime during covid, and these two stores in Chicago opened about a year ago. They are really soft. Keeping them out at room temperature kind of melted them so I put them in the fridge. texas heat is too much for their sensitive fruity nature ;) There's a little card which tells exactly which chocolate is what flavor . Packing is really cool. Goes great as a gift.

Everything is covered in soft velour and velvet and it's just beautiful! There's a great mural on the wall with different cute sayings painted on the leaves. I'll be sharing pictures of those so make sure you take a look! It's a little pricey for your average person but the quality of the chocolate which is from France and Germany makes it worth it! Their coffees come with a lot of options, some with very unique flavor combinations. I tried the rosemary caramel iced latte and I loved it! Which I was surprised by because I'm not usually a rosemary fan. They have a great variety of homemade marshmallows which I will also show you in the pictures, I can't resist a good marshmallow! So I had to try the brown butter marshmallows to bring home with me and oh my goodness! But the real winner for me was Homemade caramels! I would go back just for those! Especially the bacon one ! If you go there and try absolutely nothing else , get yourself a couple of those. you can thank me later ! The staff is super friendly and helpful! I also love that you can see back into the Candy Kitchen! So you know that all the Truffles and caramels and everything is prepared in-house and are super fresh and extra delicious! If you're ever near one of their many locations I encourage you to stop in! The coffee price point is actually very affordable, the truffle and marshmallow prices are truthfully probably comparable with like Godiva or Fannie May but they are made with much higher quality ingredients. Not someplace I would visit everyday, but definitely great for a special occasion! This would be a great business to visit for some sweet holiday treats! They have multiple shops! It's a nice coffee-with-your-peeps stop or maybe a small lunch. It's quite cozy and they have a nice variety to choose from. Certainly, many as a drop in bakery and take their treasures to-go. I had a lovely strawberry Belgian waffle and a Marocchino Caldo. Good to the last drop. I noticed many people ordering crepes and croissants. There's just so much here. Robert always walks out with macarons that he snacks on throughout the day. So even the health wise has his days. I chose the Chocolate Raspberry Bombe and don't regret it! Our service was terrific. Worth the wait from when the old meat market closed for Leonidas to finally open. I only got hot chocolate, but I'm telling you it was the BEST hot chocolate of my life. I got a dark chocolate with orange, with fresh hand-whipped cream. Yummmm. I brought some little chocolate truffles home and their flavor selection was fantastic - think Bergamot Caramel, Strawberry Balsamic, Sesame Nougat...it was impossible to choose. Only regret is that I wasn't there for a full meal. The crepes and waffles sound incredible. Gotta make my way back soon!
