This place easily has the best matcha soft serve out there right now, and with a rotating second flavor! We've tried the jasmine osmanthus, and as of 5/24/26 the most recent flavor is ube (and apparently still is at the time of this review according to their Instagram). All the flavors have been incredible so far and we always look forward to the next time we can go. Additionally, it's vegan so everyone can enjoy it! They have been known to run out though, so get there early if you can. They also have beautifully decorated bonbons, caramels, and chocolates, all with some really unique flavors I haven't seen anywhere else - check out the pictures to see some of them! I'd feel guilty eating the bonbons because they're so elegant, but they would make a fantastic gift. They make their matcha lattes using matcha powder that they also sell, and you can actually choose which matcha powder you want to try based on its profile. They have a chart that shows the matcha choices and their descriptions; I'll try to grab a picture of and post here the next time we go which will hopefully be soon, but someone may have already posted it. It's a small place so it can get busy and crowded quickly, especially since they're only open on the weekends. Everyone has been so nice and helpful whenever we go though, despite how busy they get! We shared a vegan matcha soft serve and matcha/ube swirl! Matcha was not too sweet, ube was on the sweeter side so they paired well as a swirl. We also bought some of the specialty chocolates! Truly a hidden gem. Tucked in Noble Square/West Town is a matcha/bonbon shack. You wouldn't have thought they would be whipping up a mean tasty matcha. No frills just a simple standard matcha & only $6! You can add upgrades depending on the matcha variety you prefer but being it was my first time I wanted to keep it simple. Very tiny, quaint sweets shop that has amazing soft serve. The staff are all friendly and let you try samples of the bar chocolates if you want to try the flavors before buying them. Bars of chocolate are definitely on the pricier side ($15 each) but there's some unique flavors that you don't typically see, like soy milk and you tiao, high quality tea flavors, etc. The matcha soft serve was perfectly smooth and not too sweet. Portion size was perfect for $6 and they use high quality matcha. When we went, they also had a seasonal milk tea flavor that was really good too. Highly recommend giving them a visit! There's lots of paid street parking around the shop. There's only a small counter to eat at, and when there's a few people in the shop it gets a bit crowded. read more

We only got the matchas, but this is such a cute little store so many varieties of chocolate, perfect for adventurous chocolate lovers! Came to Sugoi Sweets last summer and they only had matcha soft serve and bon bons at the time. Decided to make a pit stop last week and they now have a second rotating soft serve flavor and matcha/hojicha lattes. The soft serve flavor they had on rotation was jasmine osmanthus which was AMAZING. I had the standard matcha latte and was also happy to see that they did not upcharge for oat milk. There is an extra charge to use the other marukyu koyamaen matcha powders other than the standard ones. Came back again a week later for the jasmine osmanthus soft serve before the flavor was rotated out. Safe to say that we'll probably be regulars here. Definitely a great place to pick up gifts or a little treat-yoself pick-me-up. They have truffles, bars, caramels, and more! You can find some really intriguing flavors like mala and tom yum flavored chocolate bars, plus some seasonal truffle flavors like Dubai chocolate. While you're there, treat yourself to an extremely tasty and reasonably priced matcha drink and/or soft serve! Really appreciate that the drinks and soft serve menu have vegan and dairy-free options, too! One random note: we tried the Marz Sweat drink that they carry here once, and while the packaging was extremely reminiscent of the best drink of all time (Pocari), the flavor was not. I love this place. They have me coming back constantly for their vegan matcha soft serve and their marukyu koyamaen matcha stock. Their staff are always so friendly. The owners are super knowledgeable about their ingredients and are so happy to talk about all things matcha and Japan! The shop is small, but very mighty. There is no seating area, however there is a small standing counter to get your ice cream indoors. The shop is also filled with hand crafted bon bons and unique asian flavoured chocolates. Would reorder everything again! Their matcha soft serve was so creamy and tasted like ceremonial grade matcha, however I recommend sharing it because the matcha flavor starts to linger on your tongue and get bitter. The bon bons were so perfect- we got the cookie and black sesame salted egg flavor. The cookie one tasted like the name and had a good crunch, and the other one tasted exactly like salted egg which I love. Chocolate was not too sweet and they're so pretty too. This cute little dessert/confection store is only a 15 min walk away from my apt but I've only been to it twice!! The only con is that they're only open weekends and close at 6pm. I tried their matcha and cereal soft serve yesterday (with caramel popcorn pieces) and I can now confidently say I like their matcha ice cream better than a very popular matcha place in Chinatown this matcha flavor is more rich and a bit more bitter but in a good way. Sugoi Sweets had a booth at the Renegade Craft Fair in Wicker Park, and I couldn't help but take home a colorful box of their beautiful chocolates. While their box of six was "Chef's Choice", the gentleman there kindly showed me a few choices, and I picked one that avoided a flavor I tend not to like. Over the course of the next several days, I made my way through the box and was absolutely blown away. I mean, must I say more. These gourmet chocolates are very delicious and spot on with creative flavors. Husband and I was walking along Ashland and going into all the little boutique stores when we stumbled upon this colorful awning of a place. I've heard of them somewhere on social media somewhere so was very surprised to see a brick and mortar store. We tried the you pick 6 which was 22 dollars.. I know.. I had to take away one star for the price. But when we went home, we saw how BEautiful they were and also how crazy good it was. If you can afford them, I highly recommend them. I was hosting a dinner party last night so wanted to pick up some small bonbons just to finish off the night when everybody was done and ready to go. I'm impressed by how many interesting flavors they have that you can choose from . The amount of attention and detail put into the design and flavor was amazing. Every single person that had one loved it, and even those people that tend to eat at nicer restaurants were complementing the presentation of the box, the candy, essentially the entire product. Whether you're just looking to treat yourself to a small indulgence on the way home from work, or looking to impress your Guests with a small bite at the end of the night to leave them with a sweet memory, I would highly recommend trying this place out. I will admit, it is a bit on the pricey side, but I haven't found anything else like these, alongside the wide range of flavors they have, and I think they're worth it. I'll be back soon. read more

Then there are these subtle, delicate flavors, with delightful Asian accents: pandan, yuzu, matcha, sudachi. The owner, Elle, is so talented and precise with what she does.
