Guys this place is so adorbs!! This was one of my first saved dessert places in Chicago purely for the fact that I LOVE cute things. The cuter, the better!! Step aside clean modern aesthetics! I want my future house to have pastel furniture and pastel exteriors and cutesy tootsy everything. I had the mint chocolate stracciatella ice cream, and you have the option to make your scoop into an animal, ranging from koala, monkey, pig, and unicorn to capybara. I'm OBSESSED with capybaras, owing tribute to the song on tiktok "Capybaraaaaa! Capybara capybara capybara capybara. Capybaraaaaaa! Capybara capybara capybara." (You get it I'll stop now). The ice cream scoop was SO generous, and it was refreshing. The capybara design was so incredibly adorable, so aptly designed. We were one of the first customers at 1pm on a Saturday, so there was no wait time and the staff were very friendly! There is a bathroom in here, and they let you try flavors before buying!
I've said it before, and I'll say it again. The only thing I post on Instagram with any regularity is my cat. All those ice cream cones that look like various animals? Cute, no doubt, and same for the names of flavors. However, I eat for enjoyment of food, not likes on social media. After sampling the 'You Pecan Do It,' 'I got Ube,' and a "Miso Mon Cherie," The ube has mild ube flavors, and the Miso Mon Cherie was spectacularly chocolatey, seemingly having very dark chocolate. I opted for the pecan flavor, not because there was anything wrong with the others, simply that's where my mood was. I got the smallest size, with a cone on top, for 'ice cream hands' is only fun on TV. ' In a word, I found the ice cream underwhelming. The pecan pieces were too small to make a notable impact, and the ice cream itself lacked that creamy, luscious goodness that makes ice cream so great. Not that it was bad per se, but not very enjoyable. The same thing goes for the macaron. I asked to be surprised, and I think I was given a raspberry, but am unsure. What I can tell you is this once lacked the textures that makes macaron fantastic, without the necessary contrast of textures. In terms of value, I felt that ~$4 for the smaller size is reasonable. On that note, I want to point out that while their menu seems simple, it can bring some confusion. A single scoop can be done in the style of an animal without additional cost, but 'piggybacking' does cost extra? What is 'piggybacking' anyway? As I said, confusing. The vibe inside is clean and modern, however, I feel they have plenty of unused space that could be taken up by more tables (though, to be fair, it was not very busy that night). Final verdict: The product at Eli's Ark decidedly did not hit the spot. In a situation where I find myself preferring ice cream from the grocer's (store brand, to boot), a return visit is not in the cards.

The ube flavor is probably my favorite ube desert in the city, they have to be using some high quality ube in their mix. The mango is also super fresh tasting. The service is always great with my gelato served up with a smile. The decor is simple yet inviting. A perfect spot for the family.

Cutest dessert spot ever! I got the pig-shaped soft serve with the Pretty in Pink flavor (yakult + strawberry + rose) -- so refreshing and unique. My friend's koala soft serve was just as adorable. They also offer 4 non-dairy flavors and are super accommodating about it, which I really appreciated. Fun vibe, great service, and desserts that are as delicious as they are Instagram-worthy.
If, like me, you have been craving animal shaped gelato your whole life, boy do I have the place for you. Eli's Ark. This place is so stinking cute. A variety of unique flavors and designs. Well priced, nothing crazy. I got the ube, and my friend (vegan) got the vegan chocolate. Lots of vegan choices! They were very nice and did such a perfect job making our animal gelatos. I will be sure to come back and bring friends!
My friend found Eli's Ark on Instagram so on my next visit we went looking for it. During a Thursday afternoon the shop was pretty calm, only a few other guests at the same time. The adorable shaping of the different animals from gelato and things like cookies, nuts, or marshmallows was a fun touch. I tried Dulce de Banana in the shape of a monkey. I liked the flavor of the gelato! We also picked out some macarons to try later. They had a lot of fun flavors, a mix of fruity options and other dessert options. The texture of the macarons was good and we liked some flavors more than others.
A cute space offering a variety of gelatos, all interesting riffs on classic Western flavors (e.g. a cookies 'n' cream that includes panna cotta, a lemon flavor that includes yuzu) or tropical/Asian-inspired gelatos (Vietnamese coffee, ube, mango with an optional sprinkling of Tajín, etc.). I can say the ube is subtle but definitely there. The animal faces are a super fun touch and I want to come back to try not just more flavors but more animal faces too . I also like that they offer a slightly smaller kiddie size that's still plenty generous, and they also allow samples, in case you're not sure what to pick. Note: there's not too much seating inside and unless they put up a large menu board for the flavors or print menus, I'd recommend browsing their flavors online before getting to the front to make your ordering go faster.

Adorable and delicious! Great spot to stop by for a sweet treat. My husband got the ube (not pictured) and he loved the flavor. Service was good and it was a nice place to drop by for a quick sweet treat. read more
Good flavors and cute. You are able to try samples. I always get the 3 of a kind flavor. You can get a different animal in a cup or cone. I think it would be helpful if they had signs of what's included on the animal to save time. To account for allergies, they do get quite busy, and it's hard to hear the staff members sometimes when they're explaining the options. Parking is difficult to find on North Ave. read more

Came in before closing and the staff was patient and very quick with our order. The interior was cute and clean. They have homemade specialty flavors with the cutest animals faces. Everything we tried was amazing. Prices were very reasonable too! read more

oh my gosh!!!! the absolute cutest place to get ice cream. although the draw is the animal shaped ice cream, the flavors are so good and plenty a reason to come back. I had the strawberry yakult flavor and it was super rich and creamy. we also tried the vegan berry flavor and it was pretty good but not as sweet as the yakult flavor so definitely recommend if you don't like sweet ice cream. the staff was extremely friendly and helpful in explaining how it worked since it was our first time there. the only downside is the limited seating area, but it was a really nice day and Wicker park is only a few blocks away, so a quick walk to the park to enjoy your ice cream is a good idea if it's busy! read more
Lovely neighborhood gelato shop. Really fun for kids to choose an animal along with their scoop flavor. Work on refining those young taste palates early! I tried the miso chocolate cherry and it was delicious! Super smooth. My daughter got the vanilla butterfly pea (blue color) which was also good! Staff is super friendly and patient. The Ice cream is so cute! It wasn't too busy when I went. But I did notice it's off a Main Street which is hard to find parking. I had the dog shaped one with cookies and cream ice cream. I thought it was really good. I would definitely recommend, especially if you're a tourist visiting Chicago. read more

Usually when it's animal shaped cones I think of it more as a cute gimmick than a really good ice cream shop. That is not the case here. The gelato here is not only delicious, they have a lot of unique flavors of all varieties. If I had more stomach space I would have had at least 2 more flavors. The dragonfruit yuzu I got was like a refreshing fruit lemonade on a cone. My friend got I think a white peach lychee? Some other flavors I would have tried were the black sesame and mango. There was a longish line when we got there but it moved pretty quick. The store doesn't have a ton of seating but it does have several 2-4 people tables. Otherwise it's located in a nice downtown area which is great for walking around and eating gelato on a warm day. read more
This place is great! I've had a bunch of different flavors over the years but more recently that mango is amazing! Tried that bright purple one this time too with the graham cracker crumbles. Very good. I love the ice cream here. Great for kids with all the animal faces they do on the cones. Can't wait to bring my niece & nephew here. Great for adults too! Ha ha. read more

THIS PLACE IS SO CUTE AND TASTY. Just go!!!!! You can get one, two, or three animal-shaped ice cream scoops on a cone or cup. Flavors are unique, classic, or a mix. There is something for everyone here! This place is sure to put a smile on your face. Really cute instagrammable desserts, that taste amazing. I finally had the chance to try it since I wasn't able to during my last visit to Chicago. I stopped by after having a late lunch. The flavors here can be underwhelming, but they do offer a few traditional fruit options. I was disappointed that they didn't have black sesame. I ended up ordering the horchata and Vanilla Sky, both of which have a milky flavor. The Vanilla Sky is less sweet compared to the horchata, likely because of the butterfly pea flower. It's a fun place, just alittle pricey. read more

This place is cute as heck! The gelato was good, but not great so if you're here for the flavors you may be slightly underwhelmed. It's a wonderful spot to go to with friends and I saw a number of families with small children. We snagged the child's size and were really happy with our choices. read more
I'm impressed. I went at the end of the night, was quite a line, so it's popular, you'd think the staff would be tired, but they had great welcoming attitudes and they put so much effort into each cone. The animals are adorable, and the ice cream flavors are unique and yummy. read more

Came in for a late night snack and there was no line no wait. Very cute yet simple and spacious setting. The staff serving tonight was super friendly and generous. They offered samples to us to help us decide what flavors we wanted. I chose the koala with a Ube ice cream flavor base. I enjoyed the ice cream because their ube is amazing but the ears of the ice cream weren't anything special. Honestly thought I was eating ritz crackers lol but it wasn't bad. I also indulged and got myself two macrons, one pistachio and one passion fruit. The passion fruit is tangy and the pistachio isn't heavily sweet. Nice flavor and the size of the macrons for $2.50/ piece isn't bad. read more
What a fun way to eat yummy gelato! You choose how many scoops, then the gelato flavors, the animals, and finally the cone type. The gelato itself is not too sweet, just the perfect amount of yumminess. The animal ears and noses add crunchy notes to the smooth gelato. There are only 6 small tables and a window-facing counter. But it is still a fun place to hang out and enjoy the animal decorated gelato. I wanted to come again the next day to try more animal and gelato flavor combinations. read more

Stopped by on a lazy Sunday after dinner at Kama. Really cute concept and execution, you choose number of scoops and then toppings which are animal themed. Pretty unique idea! Unfortunately the gelato was not very good, I ordered a vegan coconut flavor with the MONKI that tasted like Play Doh and my friend ordered the blue vanilla with the UNICORN which tasted like wet paper, but without the satisfying smack Went to Jenni's and then got some real ice cream. Fun photo opportunity, but that's about it. Maybe just don't come on a Sunday? read more
Eli's Ark has THE cutest gelato's I've ever seen! I found Eli's Ark through Yelp and had to go. The ladies working were sweet and let us sample as many flavors as we wanted. I liked all of the flavors that I sampled and it was a tough decision. The gelato is creamy and tastes like it's made with high quality ingredients. I decided to get the mint chip flavor and I had mine made into a koala. The mint chip has thin mints mixed into it and tastes amazing. I also liked the coffee flavor and the plain chocolate. Each of us ordered a different flavor and a different animal. The different animals are all so cute! You can get a bear, dog, monkey, panda, unicorn, koala, and a pig. Not only does Eli's Ark have the cutest gelatos, but they also have amazing tasting gelato. This place is a must visit! read more
I saw this place pop up on TikTok when researching new places to try while visiting Chicago. Of course the adorable gelato animals drew me in. They have a lot of flavor options and once you choose those then you choose your animals. The gelato looks amazing, almost too cute to eat! The taste however was nothing special in my opinion and honestly I've had better store bought gelato. I took my photos ate what I could and tossed out the rest. read more
So I liked that the flavor selections are super unique here! A lot that peaked our interest however they aren't offering samples and it's pricey so you're taking a gamble... which is a shame. I got salted caramel and my husband got banana, great texture and good portions. We both enjoyed our flavors but would try something else next time. The animal details are cute, especially for kids, but the extra components (waffle ears, cookie pieces) were stale. Overall, not a contender for Jeni's with tha flavors we tried but we may try others in the future. read more

Who knew gelato could be this ADORABLE? I went to Eli's for an after-dinner treat and my scoops magically transformed into adorable animals! From the welcoming smiles of the staff to the variety of gelato flavors, this place will not disappoint... And let's talk about the birthday cake macaroon--so good it's criminal. Be sure to take a pic in front of the greenery wall- so cute! ... I swear my piggy scoop winked at me #besties. read more
Life is sweeter once you've experienced the joy of Eli's Ark. The decorations are honestly the most well done animal impressions we've ever seen- whoever took the time to pick them out did a fantastic job and we got a lot of joy just oohing over the ice cream before we tucked in. The ice cream itself was solid- we went for the sorbets because ube was OUT OF STOCK but we enjoyed our choices. All the ice cream flavors are on the sweeter side so pick carefully. Our unicorn was raspberry, the piggy was greens and avocado, and the koala was mango tajin. My partner liked raspberry most and I enjoyed the avocado one because it was least sweet. Mango was a solid mango sherbet as well although the tajin flavor could be stronger. We think Eli's Ark, while not the world's best ice cream, was a delicious and fun experience and outshone a good number of ice cream shops in the area- their flavors were well-done and definitely much more tasty than Oberweis. read more
Wow, this is one of those reviews that I feel must have gotten swallowed up by Yelp--have I really not reviewed Eli's Ark? I've visited here only a couple of times, because it's not in my neighborhood. Wicker Park/Bucktown is not a great place to drive and/or park. Luckily, if you want to visit, the CTA Blue Line (I think that's it) is around the corner. It's an adorable concept. I think it's super clever that they make the ice cream into animals and it's just fun; it brings a smile to my face. They have unique flavors too, like ube flavored gelato, and I had a banana one that was amazing. Banana flavor that comes from anything but an actual banana is generally the worst thing in the world, but this must have real banana in it because it is delicious. They don't have a lot of flavors--maybe a dozen or so--but they're interesting. And it's very good. There isn't a lot of seating in here, so you're likely to take it to go. It's also not cheap, so be prepared to spend more than you probably expected for an ice cream cone. But if you can swing it, it's worth the experience. read more
