If you want to try to find something new for a change, check out Hotel Chocolat. The Classic hot with 70% real chocolate with milk is amazing. There are plenty of high level chocolate products to choose with beautiful packaging for gift giving. The service is good. Friendly casual staff. The noise level can vary. I like to go earlier in the morning when it's quiet and I can write in my journal and plan out my weekend. By 10am, young parents with kids tricks in for parent meetups. There is the occasional book club that gathers at the community stainless steel table. I suggest wearing headphones if you plan on staying for a few hours to focus. A gift received from Chicago, one of the only two stores currently operating in the US. Received this 18 piece fruity chocolate box. It is impressive that not a single candy is repeated. My fav so far is the macaroon and sour cherry. Did not like the strawberry cheesecake as a candy though. I hear, they had 5 stores in New York which shut dpwn sometime during covid, and these two stores in Chicago opened about a year ago. They are really soft. Keeping them out at room temperature kind of melted them so I put them in the fridge. texas heat is too much for their sensitive fruity nature ;) There's a little card which tells exactly which chocolate is what flavor . Hotel Chocolat is not a hotel, but it's a fabulous emporium of chocolates and other treats that recently opened on Southport. They are innovative and ethical, so you can feel good about tasting the goodies sold here. Everything looks appealing in the store, and the folks here seem generous in giving out samples. We tried sips of warm drinking chocolate, as well as the delectable little caramel bunnies. With a crazy name like Billionaire's salted caramel sundae, I had to try it out! It was certainly pretty yummy, but not quite worth a billion dollars. My lovely wife enjoyed her cup of iced coffee too. The Wall of Chocolate has sooooo many eyecatching and reasonably priced selections, so you don't have to buy a giant box of candy. Visited opening day. Having people outside with drink samples was an excellent way to let people know they opened. Tried the hot chocolate sample and it was delicious. Went inside to check out the interior and what else they had inside. Chocolate candy samples were delicious and I will be back to buy chocolates for gifts, etc. Tried the chocolate croissant and chocolate chip scone. I've been becoming a regular at Hotel Chocolat, and I have to say, it's a pretty great place to spend time. We popped by here on a Saturday after brunch to check it out. The ambiance is cute inside the store and they have a lot of chocolate options! I appreciate there is a lot of size variations in their offerings too so you can mix and match. The service we received while in the shop was helpful and friendly. There was always an employee around to answer questions and they were good at making recommendations based on what you were looking for. My husband and I tried the drinking chocolate. Personally I wasn't really a fan as the drink was pretty thick in my opinion. I tried the Habanero Chili and it was really missing the kick I was expecting. While the drinking chocolate missed the mark for me, I'll be back to purchase gifts for friends, family, and coworkers! read more

A great addition to Southport corridor! I love the "Wall of Chocolate" and their sample boxes. I've tried their ice cream and matcha - both recommended! There is also nice seating (I definitely recommend the green chairs over the amber/orange chairs). I'd recommend this as a great end to your day after shopping down Southport. read more

I was excited to go here, but left bummed out. I ordered the classic sipping chocolate and it had no flavor at all. Just tasted like warm milk. Not thick, no chocolate flavor, the color just looked like milk. Maybe they made it wrong...but in that case I spent $6 on warm milk and that's not cool. The sipping chocolate I bought at Trader Joe's is 10 times better. The chocolates were okay, not much flavor to be honest. I wouldn't recommend this spot. I love the chocolate here and have shopped many times, but I'm disappointed that they often sell boxes very close to their expiration date. For example, in May most boxes had a best-by of 5/2025, and today (6/6) I saw many expiring 6/2025--just weeks away. How are people supposed to finish them in time, or are we expected to eat expired chocolate? I wanted to buy a couple of Luxe boxes but ended up settling for smaller ones with a later expiration date, spending around $250 when I would've spent much more. It's frustrating and makes the "100% happiness guaranteed" promise feel hollow. It's also a missed business opportunity.
