Close-up of a package from the Walk of Chocolate. $8/pack of 6 or $20/3 packs.

Hotel Chocolat is a welcoming little oasis. I visited them twice recently and was impressed by both the quality of their products and the friendly service. I've tried two of their hot chocolates: ginger and dark peppermint. Both were excellent and not very sweet. The latter was a positive for me, as I usually pass up hot chocolate because it's often very sugary. I had the ginger with whole milk and dark peppermint with skim (oat milk also an option), and both had great flavor. The one with whole milk was definitely richer, but the skim one didn't taste watered down. There are nice touches if you want to stay there to enjoy your drink (or pastry). Very thoughtfully, there are glasses and a tap for water, which helps if you choose one of their richer options. I also bought chocolate here, after tasting a sample that was excellent. The two-sided Wall of Chocolate has a lot of choices with helpful descriptions, and there's even a touchscreen on one side where you can answer a quiz on your tastes and get recommendations. My only nitpick here that prevents 5 stars is that the chocolate packages are packed very tightly in the displays. I was a worried about damaging the chocolates when I pulled them out, and I found it impossible to put a package back in after I looked at the ingredient list and decided against it. Overall, Hotel Chocolate is worth the visit, especially in the dead of Chicago winters.

I first learned about Hotel Chocolat through a Yelp event at the Lincoln Park location, and it was so good we wanted to come back to buy chocolate gifts for our family for the holidays. And then we were extra excited because they opened a location in Wicker park! Right by the 6 way intersection by the Damen Blue Line stop. When you walk in, you are immediately immersed in a gorgeous seating area, brimming with green plants and wooden furniture, and an overall cozy and lush ambience. People were sitting with their hot chocolate and reading and chatting, and it's just a lovely place to be. When you walk further in, you will encounter the store where they sell the chocolate and the counter where you can order drinks and pastries or check out. I love how seasonal the chocolate is. It was November so a lot of the featured chocolate was adorably in the shapes of penguins, Christmas trees, and gingerbread men! We had fun browsing and choosing chocolates as gifts for loved ones. They even had some of their chocolate puddles for sampling. We love the salted caramel puddles and they make for a perfect gift! They also have some chocolate boxes with varieties of chocolate and in different sizes. For the quality and unique options, it's really a great price. We recently gifted my mom the gingerbread person-shaped chocolate, which was also gingerbread flavored. She really loved it, and she's typically very picky with her chocolate. She said it's not too sweet and had a nice flavor. Will definitely be back for more chocolate gifts and to enjoy a drink in the gorgeous cafe space!

I had meant to go to Discourse Coffee nearby, but there were mechanical issues so I came here instead. So glad that I did! Upon entry, this place is beautifully decorated with walls of chocolate, neon signs, and foliage. I got a hazelnut praline hot drink and a chocolate cube croissant with a shot of chocolate on the side. It was so good- the hazelnut flavor was wonderful, the croissant was crisp, and the dipping chocolate was nice and rich, all perfect on a cold day. For any chocolate lovers, this is the place for you!

Tried the truffle of the week, Baileys and they also had a line of brewery inspired flavors, so I tried the Clementine Cider. One also random star of the show is the well stocked washroom! Equipped with ample space, changing table, baby wipes, diapers, sanitary pads and tampons. Kudos for being well stocked for all the ladies and mamas out there! Keeping them out at room temperature kind of melted them so I put them in the fridge. texas heat is too much for their sensitive fruity nature ;) There's a little card which tells exactly which chocolate is what flavor .
