I've wanted extensions for almost 10 years and last week my dream finally came true, thanks to Garnish, Candice, and her exceptionally talented, funny, and lovely team. Let's begin at the beginning. I went in knowing I wanted them, a few months back. During the consultation it's obvious they know what they're doing and talking about. During this, options are provided, as well as the what would be best for me personally, and next steps. I felt excited and comfortable talking to Candice about my new hair journey! During this appointment, I scheduled my hair strand test, to ensure the color would work correctly on my hair. This took about 1.5 hours and occurred a few weeks later. Fast forward to last week, I was in the chair and ready for my extensions! I was at the salon for six hours as I chose to get my color and extensions on the same day. I was so pleased with the entire experience! The vibes in this place are happy, fun, positive - the team knows how to work hard and have fun while doing so! I just loved the energy! They offered me lunch, wine, and great conversation throughout the day. I was also able to connect to WiFi and work throughout a lot of the process, which was convenient. Let's not forget the Spotify playlists. The music here is amazing & I left with two new playlists. At the end of the transformation, they provide documentation letting you know how to wash, style, and take care of your extensions. So I finally had my service down with Christine...and from beginning to end was fabulous. I had to live with a hair disaster for a month. But in this month I was able to contact Christine and tell her what my hair was doing and ask a lot of questions. She was willing to answer them and even have me come in for a second consult a week before my service to talk more about my hair and see what shape my hair was in. This alone speaks volumes to me. She walked me through every step of my service, explaining what she was doing and how long each step would take. Since I was having a lot of breakage, I kept waiting for her to stop in horror for the condition of my hair. She didn't. She spent over 4 hours with me and has brought me back to a more natural color with a lot of warmth and depth. RESPONSE to owner's comment: Thanks for the response but never was it said to me that ANYTHING would be complimentary so that is false. When I spoke to Niko about my concerns a few weeks after my last appt (purposely waited for the glaze to wash out), I told her that I wasn't happy with the outcome, especially after seeing what I wanted on your company's instagram. I told her I couldn't afford to have more highlights put in but still asked for a solution. She told me if I had come in a few days after the service, she may have been able to do something. My issue wasn't with the number of visits, the color correction or even the cost that was necessary to achieve what I wanted. It was the technique used. She gave me TINY highlights when I repeatedly said balayage and that I wanted the highlights to be visible when curly. I showed her countless photos of a dark base with balayage-effect highlights (never said I didn't want to go light...just not a light base)...nothing close to what I received. I was disappointed in the hair cut but I didn't even mention it on the call (I was willing to let that go even though I will need to get it fixed) if the salon was willing to work with me. Unfortunately, I didn't get that feeling from the call. A color wash didn't seem like a real next step to what I originally wanted. read more

My calls are always answered or returned quickly, the scheduling is on point and the experience is .. well just an amazing experience. I am a breast cancer survivor who went to Garnish after doing quite a bit of research. I knew when I got there for my first apt that my hair wasn't long enough for extensions. I met with Candice and we set a plan. She was clear about how long it would take and we discussed my 'hair goals' and how we would go forward. This process made me so much more comfortable. The pricing was very clear as was what to expect. When I was ready for extensions - all of the staff was there for my 'Transformation' and there were tears all around - I finally felt like myself again. Candice made sure i knew how to care for my new look and was very helpful with providing suggestions and hair care tips that would get me going with my new hair journey. This started in 2017 and now I have beautiful hair of my own but have kept the extensions for length and to give me some thickness. For the gals out there that are debating if this is for you...I consider myself fairly "low-maintenance", like the kinda girl who gets her hair cut once a year and maybe dyed once a year. Two of my friends had gotten extensions at Garnish and looked fabulous. My hair has never been something I love about myself...just blah, so I decided to take the leap and try it. The day before my consultation I almost cancelled, again "up-keep" was not in my personal routine vocabulary but I figured the consultation was minimal commitment so I kept it. Y'all...ohmygosh...this is not a hair salon it's like a meditation room, therapist office, and good vibe tribe all in one. Garnish is filled with such positive energy, passionate people, striving to do their best work, using hair has their tool to instill confidence in all of their clients. The positive energy i soaked in during my consultation visit was worth the consultation fee alone. Now let's talk hair... I asked Candice to make me an ashy blonde. I had asked others to attempt this on before and they never came close (part of why I gave up on dying my hair). Candice came up with a plan for my hair and when I came back and had my row put in I felt the most confident I have in years. I sometimes feel guilty about spending $ on myself, this was no different, but I knew when I got home and my boyfriend who knew the investment this was and is more frugal than Dave Ramsey only had one comment "Damn baby, you look good" I knew that it was totally worth it! As for being "high-maintenance" I had it all wrong. My hair is actually lower maintenance with the extensions in than without because I'm no longer having to wake up and figure out what to do with my limp thin, hair. Update: I got my hair dyed by Christine a few weeks ago and it wasn't exactly how I wanted it. My hair has never been dyed before, so this was a new experience for me. She called to check in a week or two after the initial dye job. I told her it was a little off and she immediately asked it I wanted to come back in to correct it. I came back in and she did an amazing job and now it's perfect. The issue was probably with my description of what i wanted and not her skill and she was still willing to fix it. I was blown away. (haha) I'm obsessed with this place. Straight obsessed. I love my hair every time I leave and feel so comfortable leaving my hair in Christine's very knowledgeable hands. The first two times I kept it to cutting and styling and have been incredibly impressed. I may try color this Friday when I return as they have earned my trust. I purchased some of the products that Christine recommended as well and loved them. True, they are pricey, but you pay for quality. Don't go to Niko if you are a black female. She does not know how to handle our type of texture. I went to the consultation and she claimed she could give me what I wanted. I wanted a blowout and a glaze. I go in for my appointment and she looks at my hair like it was some foreign object and said I couldn't get the glaze. She should have told me that at the consultation instead of wasting my time. She should have been honest with me and recommend a different stylist that could handle my hair. My hair looked like a puff ball when I got up. I wasted 90 dollars for something that look like I did at home. She knew it looked bad because she didn't take a picture after it was done. They take before and after pictures for all of their customers. I'm happy for the many customers who come out happy and feeling beautiful, but I wasn't one of them. Candice really takes her time with your hair and applies a holistic approach to your hair - figuring out what works for you and what will make you feel like your most authentic self. The quality of the extensions are amazing and I think it's really amazing that they teach you and explain what the process of extensions is as they are working on your hair. Also, Reese is who I go to to get my extensions raised (not sure if that is the technical term), but he is really so gentle with your hair and precise. I can't believe I hadn't thought to review my salon before! I honestly feel terrible about this, because Garnish is a gorgeous, well maintained, and an amazingly staffed salon that deserves a lot of praise. They may be young, at having recently celebrated their first year anniversary of their grand opening, but they certainly know what they're doing. I followed Andrayah here about a year ago from the salon she was at previously. She is amazing, definitely my favorite hairdresser I have ever had. She's great with color and cut alike, very creative, and super easy to talk and relate to; so of course I had to follow her when I heard she moved to another salon, this new place called Garnish. Upon first walking in, I was incredibly pleased. It's bright, modern, and over all attractive. Everything seems very up to date, the chairs are amazingly comfortable, and the decor is a perfect balance between chic and adorable. The rest of the ladies and gentlemen at Garnish are all perfect. Everyone is amazingly friendly and welcoming, and they all absolutely know their stuff when it comes to hair. Honestly, I couldn't give them enough praise for all they did right here. Oh my goodness! I love Garnish Hair Studio & Extension Bar! I was sent to Christine by one of my best friends, and I am not disappointed! When I first called, I was able to make a free hair consultation with Christine, which lasted about 30 minutes. We looked on Pinterest and through her different photos, which helped her figure out exactly what I needed! I then booked the appointment, which was about 3 weeks out from the consultation. At the hair appointment, she again went over what we discussed so that my hair came out perfectly. I was in the chair for about 4 hours, but it was definitely worth it! I'm an older woman who has hair loss at my crown as a result of chemotherapy and the aromatase inhibitor that I need to take. After a lot of research to find the perfect professional for crown extensions, I found Candice and Garnish studio. I don't want or need long, permanent locks, just something to give fullness at the crown. Candice spent a great deal of time explaining the whole process to me. The result is a gorgeous temporary crown that I can take out for exercise and put in for a day or night out. It's made of real hair and the color is gorgeous. My hair and confidence are restored. I just moved to the area and decided to try out the hair salon down the street from me and I'm super glad I did! I made an appointment with Christine for partial highlights to change up my look for the Fall. I'm pretty clueless when it comes to hair so she took the time to sit down, go through pictures, and really find out what I was looking for. In the end, we decided against highlights and just went for a root touch up, glaze, and blowout. It looks great! It's a little pricey ($45 for a blowout, $45 for the glaze, $65 for the roots), but she explained how this will save me money on future visits and gave me free samples and coupons. I'll definitely be back and my boyfriend will be making an appointment for a cut soon too! read more

Let me preface this by saying I've been around the block when it comes to hair color. I've gone to some of the absurdly high priced salons, the local place down the street, and the supposed-to-be-good-place-at-the-mall-that-actually-just-employs-the-bottom-of-the-beauty-school-graduates. I've been blonde, red, purple, pink, blue-black, chestnut, mocha, and everything in between. By this point in my life I know what works for me and what does not. During these 20 some odd years of hair coloring I've learned about some of the chemistry behind it: the dos and the don'ts, the steps to correct, and the processes required to get from point A to point B. Most of this education came from things being done to my hair that should have never been done by a professional worth their salt. I've been treated like a friend and like a peasant at these salons. I've been argued with, condescended to, and told that maybe I should go somewhere else if I'm so unhappy. Does any of this sound familiar to you? So picture me, mid spring when I go to someone who is supposed to transform my brassy blonde into an ashy dream. Instead she bleached me to death and called it a day. I had near-platinum hair with ZERO depth or dimension. It was a hot mess. I also paid a pretty penny for my hot mess. I was in absolute tears. Until I called Garnish for a consultation. I met with Christine, discussed at length what I was looking for, and shared a whole Pinterest board worth of examples. We talked about how the process would work, acknowledged that it would not be a quick transformation but more of a journey. A true, cool, ashy blonde is not easy to achieve and even harder to maintain if you aren't born with it. But Christine is sorceress with hair color. She got me where I needed to be and has since kept me there. We've experimented a little and when that experiment wasn't in my comfort zone, she brought me back to my safe place. I have never felt like a second class citizen at Garnish. When I go to pay for my services I don't internally rage out like I have at other salons. The number on my bill matches the skill and effort put into my locks. Her genuine spirit is a joy to be in the presence of during my time in her chair.
