Our yard has been a little overgrown, both because I wasn't keeping up on maintenance, and because two previous landscapers had overplanted. We were just living with it until finally I realized that we needed a reset. Someone recommended Garden Natives, and I gave them a call. I wasn't sure they would be willing to work on our yard because I just wanted a cleanup and we don't have a lot of California natives. But Amanda and Sydney came out, understood the problem immediately, were not put off by the task, and gave us a reasonable estimate. Initially they were just going to do the back but then offered that they had some extra time and could do the front as well. We went from two really overgrown yards to something more modest that I can keep going on my own. They reduced the overplanting, trimmed down the remaining plants, mulched, and gave us lots of encouragement and advice. Working with them was great because I felt like they understood what I was trying to do and had the expertise to do it, and they were very kind and friendly at the same time. I was also impressed at their crew. Amanda and Syndey are great but I was pleasantly surprised to see that the team doing the work was also exceptionally thorough and thoughtful, interested in discussing plants and landscaping and giving us advice. It really is a nice business. When I look at the yards now I can't believe how much nicer it all looks (and how many weeds they pulled). We've been gradually transitioning our yard to California native plants, and were so happy to finally find Garden Natives, who specialize in native landscaping, to do a major overhaul. We were impressed by prior work of theirs we'd seen, and from the initial consultation, we found Sydney and Amanda incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and fun to work with. They soon provided a beautiful hand-drawn plan for our yard. They were very open to our thoughts, and had terrific ideas about appropriate plants that could withstand shade from our redwood trees and stand up to our large dogs. They were also flexible about working within our budget, offering a range of options. We couldn't be more pleased with the design collaboration. Sydney and Amanda also lead an amazing crew. We were struck by their amiability and punctuality, and how they all clearly love what they're doing and working together. During installation, we requested a few minor changes that hadn't occurred to us earlier (including building some small hillocks), and they were totally accommodating. A ground cover we'd hoped for turned out to be unavailable, but Sydney and Amanda offered good alternatives and swiftly found a supplier. They stayed in touch throughout the installation process, were regularly on site, and made sure the final result was to our satisfaction. We would absolutely call on Garden Natives again. Garden Natives did our front yard and it came out wonderful. I had provided them a rough (really rough) concept of how I wanted the landscape to be along with a listing of california natives that I was interested in seeing. They did an excellent job making my concept a reality and made sure to incorporate the species I wanted in addition to adding in others they thought I'd like. We are about five months past the initial planting and all the plants are doing well and blooming beautifully this spring. These ladies serve the most delicious Yarrow with a side of amazing wait, no. I am convoluting this with something else. If you want landscape design that focuses on native, low water plantings and modest maintenance needs at excellent prices, with prompt attention and quick results, these are your ladies. They reworked my entire front yard, laid new irrigation lines and drips, built me a new rock wall and even had recommendations for my koi pond. They accommodated my wishes for some non native additions without judgement as well. They have my highest recommendation, just know that it isn't a restaurant, it is, in fact, a landscape design, consultation and installation company. I can't believe I am their first reviewer. IMO, they are the best native garden landscape business available. They have done maintenance, new design, let's say patient education (I needed a lot), irrigation (ours was a mess), to a pergola and pavers for us. Amanda and Sydney were dependable and delivered on what we wanted. Our yard is now alive with butterflies, bees and hummingbirds. We'd been struggling for years with a pretty much non-existent front yard. It started out shortly after buying the home with removing a very large ash tree with damaging roots, then removing agave that grew way too big with roots that damaged the street.
