The area in which they had to work in made it a challenging job, and the property was on a hill so that amount that they had to dig was significant. In short, this was no small job. What impressed me most about them was when I told them what I wanted, they gave me ideas based on their expertise. I sometimes worry that contractors will simply give me what I ask for, whether it makes the most sense or not. While I've researched the needs, I'm not a pro and I felt like they listened to the project needs and offered insight to deliver the best result. After meeting about 5 landscapers over the past 2 years, none of them could communicate with clear direction, act on our design vision, or give us any confidence that we'd be happy with their end product. But we gave it 1 more try, and boy are we so glad we hired Herencia Landscaping. From the outset, they were clear communicators and we could tell they were action oriented to achieve what was largely a pencil-on-paper vision of what we wanted. They first took and ran with our backyard design and we had several rounds to make sure the design matched what we wanted. Then they scoped and quoted the project, and everything was fair & reasonable and very transparent about what it would take to complete. We signed right away! Jonathan's execution of the project was incredible. It was delivered on time, on budget, and was to a higher standard than we'd even been hoping for. When some of the plants in our design weren't readily available, they provided some alternatives for consideration and were always in communication as some of our decisions had cost implications. I never felt blindsided which is a huge plus when making such a big investment in your home. They gave us a clear schedule of the number of days it would take over a few weekends and they made it happen! They also managed to keep to the schedule despite us adding a bit of extra work to their scope toward the end. Their attention to detail is notable. They had caught on to how personal the project was for my husband and I in relation to a family loss and they were kind in creating a moment for us to celebrate the yard's completion with our family. I recently hired Herencia Landscaping to replace my front walkway, driveway and porch with pavers. I looked at their website--beautiful. I called their number and was immediately greeted by one of the owners, Alejandra. Within an hour, her husband Jonathan was at my house measuring and assessing the scope of the job. A few days later, I was on a Zoom meeting with Alejandra, where she explained their bid and answered all of my questions. For me, price was not the biggest deciding factor in choosing a contractor to do my project. I was looking for a professional written contract, a start and finish date, a high level of customer service and communication, and the reassurance that my time and property would be respected. Herencia Landscaping delivered on all counts. At 7:00 a.m. on a Monday morning, Jonathan's team of workers was already on site with a huge array of equipment. Removal of demolished concrete and delivery of supplies was coordinated expertly. When it was time to lay out the lines of the new walkway, porch and driveway, they made sure to include me in the decision-making details. When a glitch was discovered (the previous homeowners had run some bare electrical wires for the irrigation system under the driveway), Jonathan had an electrician among his crew who quickly solved the problem. Not only did they re-route the electrical wires, they provided me with a nice four-gang electrical outlet to be used for my Christmas lights. These thoughtful details really went above and beyond the written contract. I had confidence in every one of the workers. They are a tight team; in fact, one of the older workers related that he has worked with the family for thirty years. And I must say, even my chihuahua guard dog approved of the crew.
