We had a free order of empanadas from A yelp event and decided to make it a dinner. We celebrated our anniversary with this amazing tasting. Parking is on the street but is plentiful. It's a smaller place so make a reservation. Our server was Mateo and he was wonderful. Very kind. Knowledgeable. And fantastic taking care of us. We had empanadas , a cheese tray , and more empanadas. They were so good ! It's a great place for a nice dinner or special Occasion. Highly recommend !

Fantastic experience from start to finish. Our server Tony was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. He knew exactly when to check on us and when to give us space. We shared a large variety of dishes and every one of them was tasty! We really loved the Gardel sauce served with the steak. It was bright acidic and salty perfection. The mushrooms and brie dish was delightful! The marshmallow and peanut dessert with grapes was so creative and delicious. Everything tasted like a home run. The prices are reasonable and even after sharing many savory dishes, ordering ALL the desserts, and splitting a bottle of wine, the total cost felt like a bargain considering we had just traveled to Argentina by way of Spain and Italy. I highly recommend Gardel and look forward to future visits!

The food was so good that I forgot to take any photos of it. Lol. I work server was so helpful and nice and we tried a couple of things on the menu. I didn't get any drinks this time, but they looked great and we'll have to do it next time. We came in on a Saturday night later so it wasn't too crowded so even though I made a reservation. We could've definitely just come in and grabbed a table. The Choco flan was delicious and the croquettes were to die for. Can't wait to come back in. What a cute spot.

Gardel is a fantastic neighborhood bar and restaurant. It encompasses alot of what the area is- a place of diverse cultures and experiences coming together to enrich those around them. We found the service to be warm and our waiter to be incredibly knowledgeable of the menu and the food pairings- important for a tapas bar. We found the empanadas to use high quality beef and the squid ink pasta to be a satisfying mix of fresh ocean seafood and homemade pasta.

Came here for opening night and we will definitely be back! We only came for drinks and dessert but were given a pan con tomate for the table. The pan con tomate were amazing, the olives were definitely on the salty side. Tony was an amazing server and was very attentive! The room to the left was very cozy and warm, which is where we sat. I think that the room to the right was slightly too bright, which is where the bar was situated. The cookie trio was very good and paired well with the wine we ordered. We will definitely be back with empty stomachs for a full meal!

Excellent food, services & vibes. Feels like you aren't in Providence. Highly recommend!

I came here with a few friends over the weekend and was sadly disappointed by the food. The service was great, and the ambiance was intimate, but the main entree left much to be desired. While the cheese plate was fine and the vegetables were more tasty, the fish was unfortunately one of the blandest dishes I've ever eaten and the mushrooms on top were basically raw. I'm not even totally sure that the fish was cooked much either. Won't be back here I'm afraid.

Argentine excellence! I'm always ecstatic to hear about Latin additions to Providence's cuisine scene, and this place is no exception. We visited on a busy Friday night and were lucky to get a table for two. My partner, who is Argentinian, was transported to his mom's cooking through Gardel's delicious Empanadas and Milanese. We topped our food off with a decadent Alfajor. If you know, you know- and if you don't, I suggest you try! The interior is intimate and romantic but still casual and eclectic. The food was impeccable and servers were all attentive and friendly. This place is already a new favorite. Looking forward to visiting again and trying out the rest of the menu & wide bottle selection!

We walked into a space that is more takeout oriented in scale, but warm and comfortable enough to sit and eat without feeling out of place. The menu runs over twenty varieties of empanada on a given day, and the range is wide enough that building a mixed order across a few different fillings was the natural and obvious way to go. The classic beef is a reliable anchor and the short rib version elevates that same foundation with a richer, more layered filling. We tried the chicken mushroom, one of the more distinctive options on the menu, and it was worth ordering for something that departs from the expected. The spicy chorizo paired well with the chimichurri sauce, which is worth asking for if it does not come automatically. The La Che is another strong option if you want to try the house specialty alongside a more classic pick. One thing worth knowing is that some varieties sell out earlier in the day, so arriving with a bit of flexibility in your order in case a specific filling is gone is a smart approach. The staff were friendly and helped guide us through the menu when we hesitated. The empanadas themselves came out hot and crisp, with fillings that felt generous and well seasoned. For an empanada stop in Newton that delivers on variety and quality, Che Empanada is worth seeking out. We would come back for the short rib and the spicy chorizo, and we would plan to arrive earlier to catch the full selection.

My fourth Dine Out Boston 2026 Winter visit: Alma Gaucha, the Brazilian rodizio, with colleagues…read more The meat was delicious, the salad station was plentiful, and we ate until we were stuffed... Meat Serving: My favorites were all kinds of beef! The Premium of Top Sirloin and Top Sirloin with Garlic were extremely juicy and tender, as you can see. I recommended medium rare, and don't cook it more than medium. Tri-Tip Steak and Tri-Tip Steak with Cheese were relatively coarse, but had a layer of fat that made them more flavorful. I recommended medium; medium-well would be too dry. Lamb Steak was juicy and flavorful, with no gamey taste, so eat with confidence. Chicken Wrapped with Bacon and Chicken Legs were garlic-flavored, but the meat was a bit tough. Cheese with Honey was a calorie bomb but really delicious; the cheese had a slightly gamey taste, and the more honey, the better. Most importantly, the grilled meats here are just the right amount of salty; only the Chicken Heart and Pork Sausage were very salty. There were various sauces to choose from, but I personally recommend the oily and slightly sour Chimichurri, or simply salt, black pepper, and lemon juice. Salad Station: Foods were plentiful and all very fresh and of good quality. My favorite was the Apple Salad, which was like the old-fashioned "fruit and salad dressing" version from my childhood--it was nostalgic and had a wonderfully refreshing sweet and sour taste. The Smoked Trout was tender and had a wonderfully flavorful fat, but considering it from freshwater , I only had a small taste. The Clam Chowder had a rich creaminess that perfectly complemented the umami of the clams. The Bruschetta, with its creamy sweetness from roasted garlic paired with the crispy bread, was a delightful little treat. Side Dishes: My personal favorite was the Mashed Potatoes, fried potato balls with a crispy, airy exterior and a creamy filling. The Yucca Croquette was like a tapioca version of Pão de Queijo, with the same crispy crust and mochi-like texture, but a milder cheese flavor. The Caramelized Bananas were too soft and mushy; cooked bananas always have a rotten taste. The Crispy Polenta was very hard, mainly cornstarch, and had little flavor. Desserts: The waiter's recommendation, the Red Velvet Cake, was definitely on point. It was less sweet and had a gentler sweetness, more suitable for Chinese tastes. If you like it sweeter, get more of the part with white chocolate sauce. The Mango Cake had a very smooth mousse and a rich mango flavor. The Keylime Pie was too sweet and sour, too strong a flavor.

The manager checked on us several times to make sure everything was okay. I found it a little excessive, my coworkers loved the attention. It was quiet and empty, maybe because we visited during lunch. I'd love to come back on a Sunday to experience it. My biggest disappointment was the restaurant's did not allow me to take home leftover food. I had a piece of salmon and some pineapple left on my plate and was told I couldn't take it home. That was beyond frustrating. They remove the charge from my bill, I would have liked to keep the food rather than receive the discount. It felt wasteful to throw away perfectly good food, especially when food waste is such a serious issue. It was literally half a piece of salmon. I don't understand the logic of losing money on the meal and throwing food that could have been enjoyed later. That left a negative impression on an otherwise excellent dining experience. Overall, the food and service were outstanding, but the no-takeout policy for leftovers is something I hope they reconsider this crazy thoughts

We tried 6 empanadas between us and they were flavorful and fun. I was happily surprised that the three were enough for a meal-I was smiling as I finished them. The spicy chorizo had a noticeable slight pepper to it, the chicken mushroom was fun with bechamel and the beef with cheese and bacon reminded me of a great Philly cheesesteak. The spinach was surprising in its deep flavor and light flaky crust. Definitely worth trying! The kind woman who helped us was pleasant, knowledgeable, and promptly prepared everything. The ambiance is cute with the coffee cups having angel wings. If you are in the area, it's worth stopping by!

I called the restaurant immediately to explain what happened and try to find a solution. The person in charge was not interested in hearing any of it. He kept insisting I had canceled the order, blamed me repeatedly, and refused to move past that point no matter how clearly I explained the situation. He eventually got rude and hung up on me. Yes, he actually hung up. When a restaurant chooses to partner with DoorDash, they take on some responsibility for how delivery problems get handled, particularly on large orders. The right response is not to interrogate and blame the customer while a ready order sits on the counter. There was no attempt to help, no offer to make it right, just defensiveness from start to finish. We ended the night with nothing. A large group of people, no food, and an experience that left us worse off than if we had never ordered at all. If something goes wrong with your order, this is how Che Empanadas will treat you. We will not be ordering from them again, and I would strongly encourage others to think twice before doing so.
