This is my go to local Mexican restaurant right now. Always greated and seated right away upon entering. Painted brightly. Mexican music playing. Big menu with lots of choices. They bring you fresh salsa and chips for the table. The salsa is so good. I also enjoy their queso a lot too. The rice and beans are fine. Their chile rellenos was pretty good to satisfy my craving. Most recently though I git their chimichanga which I liked much better. Food always comes out fast. No complaints for a quick good Mexican meal. read more

Atmosphere is amazing! The decor is beautiful and the seats are all so cozy. Food was hot and fresh, steak was alright, ordered medium and it was more well done, but it was somehow still full of juice and had my favorite level of fat content to meat ratio. They're not bad in a five star kind of taco way with consistently very good hospitality and prices you wouldn't or shouldn't complain about. I mean, I've enjoyed them everytime I've been in whether they were convenient or I went out of my way just because I was craving em'. And yeah, I do. I'd much rather give them the money than yo quiero yaco taco ...so I like a good value and I like to shop businesses who offer that. Taco Tuesday yo! And the lunch menu. This restaurant was highly recommended by a co-worker and local resident. So, I decided to take my mother to Garcia's Mexican Grill for a mid-week lunch. I immediately noticed the large parking lot with ample parking. Upon entering, I noticed the bright and colorful Mexican decor from the walls to the tables and chair backs. We were quickly seated and our waitresses took our order and served us equally as fast. The service is on point and staff seemed to all work together efficiently. The food and prices were very good. We ordered the tacos salad with shredded chicken and the Super Lunch, which consisted of 1 burrito, taco, 2 enchiladas, and a quesadilla filled with beef, served with rice and beans. While the ground beef was ok, we both agreed the shredded chicken was better. Overall, we had an enjoyable experience at Garcia's. With the good food, excellent t prices and wonderful service, this is definitely on the "go-to" list for future Mexican fixes! read more

If you are in the DeLand area, I recommend this place. It's a big building with lots of seating! Lots comfortable booths, tables, and a bar area. We were greeted with such a great smile from everyone. Dulce took care of us and she was so sweet, she did just a great job at ensuring we had a good experience. The queso fundido was so good! Packed with flavor. I ordered the steak tacos and they were so tasty. The carne asada was a favorite. Their desserts were delicious and taste authentic. I was feeling very good yesterday and decided to stop at Garcia's and I ordered a combo of chimichanga a taco and a quesadilla. I ate some chips and dip which tasted good that they brought but then I ate my meal about half of it and within two hours, I was vomiting And that meal came right back up! And I am next to never sick so I would not suggest eating there. I know I will never be back again and I have eaten there a few other times and never had a problem so I know it was the food. read more

We love this place! Mostly for the extra large frozen margaritas. Highly recommend the banana!!!!! This was the first time I got the steak and cactus and it is now my favorite. Garcia's is a fan favorite in my house! There is no better Mexican restaurant around. I've brought anyone that visits me here and they have nothing but great things to say. The service is great and everyone is so friendly. From the time you walk in until you leave you are treated so kindly. The seating also adds to the atmosphere. We ordered this in from DoorDash and it arrived still hot. The food was well spiced and had the perfect level of heat. We ordered the Enchiladas Supreme, Taco Salad and Super Burrito. The Enchiladas weren't over sauced. Every flavor shined through beautifully. The steak was well seasoned and the marinade flavors were on point Chicken was moist. Beans weren't dry. Cheese was perfect and not overly heavy Ranchero sauce was delicious. The taco salad was well put together. A thicker layer of beans on the bottom would've been preferred as the bottom of the shell was extremely soggy and inedible. The chicken was very moist and well seasoned. Had a great lunch here (again)! While the facilities are a little run down, the food is overall very good (depending on what dish you order). Some are most certainly better than others. Others, you have to request (like the Chile Rellanos heated in the oven, not the microwave - which can happen at peak times.) Larger parties seem to wait longer for their food to come out, while small ones are pretty quick. (So remember you have the free chips + salsa while you're waiting) Most of the items are bland for the local pallette and can be easily requested spicy, including fresh jalapeno slices. There's a variety of Mexican hot sauces on the table and a special house blend, to give you that kick you want! The service is usually very good and attentive. I ordered, and also HIGHLY recommend the Large Shrimp Soup! It was ABSOLUTELY delicious, healthy and fresh with medium shrimp, rice, pico and fresh avocado in a chicken stock. (I put in plenty of hot sauce to perk it up!) Next time I order it I will ask for the shrimp to be grilled first and more fresh cilantro. I also had a Side Garden Salad that comes with a choice of 2 Ken's dressings and is not really notable other than the chopped bell pepper and I crushed some of the free tortilla chips on it. If you order a Taco Salad (also a decent choice), be sure to ask for EXTRA lettuce. I also recommend adding extra a la carte items to your order, so you can try them out and understand how to order them next time. Garcia's has become one of my favorite lunch spots in DeLand that offers some tasty plates at some very decent prices. They're also a favorite spot for Marg's and Happy Hour. The open sign was off, and they were only taking cash due to technical issues. We hesitated about going in, but I am so glad we did! You know how some mexican restaurants use the same flavoring in every dish, so they all taste the same? Not this one! We got chicken chimichang's and steak quesadillas and they were both delicious. Came here for my birthday, There was no wait but nobody welcomed us when we came in & we kinda stood around for a few minutes till we were acknowledged anyway, The server was nice and efficient He made sure we had everything we needed drinks etc. The food was phenomenal the presentation was beautiful We were deciding between Mi Mexican next door or Garcia's and this place was very reasonably priced and the food was delicious definitely coming back here again, also they had lots of margarita options that i'll try next time. We used to love this place. It was solid food and great prices. They have DOUBLED the prices. Yes, inflation exists at this time. But they significantly increased their prices for the same quality of food. They also have the worst margaritas that are more comparable to Gatorade. Never had an issue with the service. read more

Food tastes great, however once I got home I immediately got sick with terrible stomach aches leading to vomiting from both exits if you know what I mean. A girl and her mom came in right behind us and somehow ordered drinks, their food, and received their food all before our waitress even came over... To start with I probably won't be back. I am Vegan and I must the refried beans were very good, no lard, I would give a 8.2 out of 10. The bean chalupa with guacamole and lettuce, and pico de gallo was very good. I give it 8.4. The bean burrito was good with a good sauce rate 7.2. The bean enchilada had a lot to desire, the red sauce was not tasty, 3.3. The Salsa was good and so was the hotter salsa, 8.2. The chips average at best 5.2. The rice was hard so I give it a 3.3, I like cooked rice. The restaurant had a bad smell, smelled a little like poop, not sure where it was coming. The service was average. The food had been sitting before we got it, was warm at best. Overall I give it a 6.2. If the smell was not present I would have given it at 6.4. I like my food hot!!! Price is very reasonable. Only giving three stars because of past experiences. We went to Garcia's for taco Tuesday last night . They have a deal but not for the good tacos so I ordered the street tacos. My sister had the chicken fajitas, well done * . We ordered the large Guacamole and usually it's so good. Last night it was bland and mushy. We tried adding our own salt and pepper but it was inedible honestly. The fajitas came and the chicken peppers and onions were barely cooked and had to be sent back . My steak tacos were just browned no texture to them at all . Our drinks were watered down . Over all a regrettable experience. Our waitress was very kind and attentive definitely the star of the show . I'll go back again because it's usually my fav local mexican place . I think they're making things too far in advance to try to stay ahead of the crowd on a busy night. But personally, I'd rather wait longer for fresh food than have my food right away and it be tasteless. read more

The first time I tried Garcia's, I ordered lunch to-go with several others from work. I heard it was good but I was disappointed with the lunch. I honestly don't even remember what I ordered. I know that doesn't help, but hang in there, the story gets better... After that, I never wanted to go to the restaurant. However, last week, my husband and I were looking for something different for dinner. He suggested Garcia's and I was feeling adventurous. So, I gave it another try. Ya'll...it was the BEST Mexican food I've had in a long, long time. Whenever I see a shrimp burrito on a menu-it's mine. I was ecstatic to find that the burrito had HUGE shrimp in it, and the restaurant wasn't skimpy-either! I counted at lease 9 large meaty shrimp in my burrito. Why would I count the shrimp? Because I was trying to make a point to you fellow yelpers that this is the real deal! Okay, shrimp aside, they've done something magical, or gross, depending on how you feel about veggies. They have your traditional onions, peppers, and tomatoes in the burrito, but they also have squash! Never have I ever seen squash in a burrito. *sigh* It was delicious. Everything else on the table could be described with the same enthusiasm. The chips and salsa (which arrived as we were being seating), the extra queso we ordered, my husbands steak and cheese burrito-everything was spot-on! Other mentionables - The restaurant itself is brightly decorated and very clean. The staff wore matching futbol jerseys and it was a very professional setting compared to other Mexican restaurants I've been to. A manager could be seen walking around checking on people, waitresses were cheerful, and we were greeted by the hostess and seated immediately. All in all, I'm so glad that I gave this another try. I've ordered from here multiple times during the pandemic, never disappointed with the quality of food or the portions, which are ginormous. Dining in for the first time as I write, it was truly nice that they remembered who I was. It's a small town thing that adds to the charm of DeLand. The atmosphere is cheerfully authentic in its color vibes. Music plays at a low volume so conversations are easy at the tables. Service is fast, the servers are very courteous and I think that was the masked Manager who just popped by my table to inquire if everything was to my satisfaction. Definitely a Si, Señor! My usual is the Enchiladas Verde pork - ever so tender and tasty, not too salty. The rice is perfectly fluffy! If only I could get my home version this good, serious here. Great Spanish rice is an art which obviously they have mastered. I really like that the booth seating is high-backed, allowing for both that sense of privacy and six degrees of pandemic separation. There's also a bar up front by the entrance that is not in direct view of the entry. And as with my pickup orders, there's way more food than I'm able to scarf up in one sitting.
