Wow! Pepe's Cantina is a beautiful Mexican restaurant with great food and service. Everything was delicious and fresh. We got a pitcher of Royal Premium Margarita (strong and delicious) and the rosemary garnish for the cups was smoked right at the table. I loved that they made the guacamole table side too. It was fun to watch, and you can have the guacamole customized just how you want it. I had the Chimichanga with Angus Steak, Peppers, and Onions. The steak was flavorful and tender. The cheese sauce covering the Chimichanga was delicious. My favorite side was the Sweet Plantain, it was perfectly cooked and delicious plain or dipped in a sauce/sour cream. Went for late lunch, early dinner. Had water, house margarita and chips and salsa to start. I appreciate a bottle of water on my table as I drink a lot. The margarita was good, honestly a little heavy on the tequila. (I know I know). Chips and salsa were okay. Chips were warm, salsa thin. Had lunch portion of verde enchiladas (chicken) for my main. Great size. Especially since I had the churros for dessert. Go for the churros! Restaurant itself is cute, nice lighting and music. Service was attentive and friendly. Other than the churros everything was just okay hence the 3 stars. I'm always on the lookout for great Mexican and this just wasn't it. read more

Swung by with the family for a late Saturday lunch. The small front dining room didn't have room for the nine of us, so we got put in the larger back room ... by ourselves ... sometimes our server came by but we were often left waiting. We had largely polished off three bowls of tortilla chips and salsa before our orders were in: three more were brought out. I tried the made-to-order-at-tableside guacamole one of us ordered: good. I got the Chicharron Platter with Yuca Fries and Sweet Plantains. The Yuca Fries were the star of the show: soft, just slightly crunchy on the outside and with an outstanding dipping sauce. The Chicharrons were three strips maybe four inches long by a half inch, cut part-way through into individual pieces (a bit lacking, but part of that was due to my splitting the platter with my better half.) The Chicharrons were generally well cooked, though only one of mine was crisp enough to be bit into individual bites. The other required the assistance of a sharp knife (which had to be requested) to sever. The Sweet Plantains were a little dark from overcooking but were ripe enough. read more

Mira!! Easy solid four or more for tasty Taco Tuesday tacos. Was my first time in. Everyone was very helpful, friendly, and nice. Al Pastor tacos were pretty good. Also went with the caldo de pollo which was good but a little fancy for me. I tend to prefer more rustic versions of it; but it was good. Ordered via DoorDash which is always scary cause you don't know if the food is gonna be even warm when you get it. Happily it was packaged well and made it from Debary to Deltona without issue. We got the combo fajitas for 2 so we could try the chicken, shrimp, and steak. We were super pleased that it came with 2 of the side trays with pico, sour cream, guac, rice and beans so there was no need to try n split. The fajitas were well seasoned and perfectly cooked. The veggies still had snap to them, the chicken was surprisingly still moist, shrimp was plump and steak was tender. Let's talk about their rice, my gawd!!!! Never have I ever wanted to write a review just about a side dish. Rice is rice, it's rice, tomato sauce, spices, it is what it is. Nay nay Pepe's said hold my Corona. This rice was moist with a teeny hint of lime. I want this rice by itself, at the bottom of rice bowls, everywhere. This is the best Mexican rice I've ever had. House salsa has a nice kick to it and I was happy to see blue corn chips cause that's rare and they're so good. My only complaint is the refried beans. These were a sauce consistency more than a refried bean consistency. Yes, refried beans are soft and mushy but you can still see a bean shape here and there. These were absolutely put through a food processor and made wetter. I'm not sure if that's just how the give them for the fajita side plate or if that's how theirs are. Don't get me wrong the flavor was on point but they're definitely a sauce consistency. We will absolutely eat here again read more

I'm never in this area so we didn't know where to eat, I'm glad we stopped in. Ambiance was nice, clean, service was good. I ordered the chimichanga which was great and the other two people I was with, ordered the enchiladas, both loved their meals as well. We had such a great experience! We tried a few happy hour tapas and everything was absolutely delicious. The chicken empanadas, carnitas tacos and the Mexican street corn were next-level good. The happy hour menu is definitely worth it -- great variety and perfect portions for sharing. Everything came out fresh and full of flavor. Vegans beware- they got rid of all vegan friendly cheese AND the chocolate dessert. We've been regulars here for a long time- my husband loves the burrito queso and XXL burrito. I'm vegan, and they used to have a full veggie friendly menu with vegan "meats" and "cheeses." They still have vegan "meats" but no "cheese" or "queso." The vegan quesadilla and nachos were my 2 favorite things. Our server, Adrianna, (4/25) was very sweet and understanding, but she could only serve us food and take our feedback. We came for dinner tonight and sadly only ordered drinks. It's not the same without 'cheese' with or without dairy. We'll continue to order occasionally for my hubby, but sad we have to find a new local date night spot. We had our wedding dinner here lol. read more

Great little Mexican spot! I wished I lived closer. We all enjoyed our cocktails and food. They have a large menu with a variety of items for all types of diets. We chose from the lunch menu and the serving size was perfect. Happy hour from 11am -5pm. The drinks were well made and so good. Our server was friendly and attentive. She also was our bartender. Stopped for lunch after seeing the manatees at Blue Spring State Park. Nice lunch menu with good options. Everyone loved their food. I had carnitas enchiladas topped with poblano sauce, it came with beans and rice. Very flavorful and tender carnitas with a good poblano sauce. My husband had beef enchiladas topped with mole sauce, very tasty mole, a bit sweet however spiced perfectly. Our visitors from England raved over how good their dishes were. The free salsa they serve is a tomato cilantro blend and we had two servings, it was served with warm chips. Very attentive service, definitely recommend! read more

Went in for lunch today and left hungry, they cut there menu way down and done away with a lot of good foods. Ordered the xl burrito which I've had several times and it's always good and filling , well not today, they cut the size to maybe a 3rd. Don't think I'll be returning. read more

Welcomed new addition to the area. Have had it twice now. The queso fundido is a must! It is topped with chorizo and is delicious. Meal comes with chips and salsa too and the salsa is fresh , tastes good. For my meal I got the chili relleno. Hit the spot. That came with rice and beans. A little pricey but the food is good. Came for Friday happy hour, arrived around 4:15 it was quiet at first then it started to get busy. Salsa and chips were okay, I think salsa needs a tad more flavor but good nonetheless. Ordered the house margarita for happy hour, but I was not a fan of the mixer they used so I ordered a passion fruit margarita (not on the happy hour) but I was actually able to drink it. Birria tacos we're good too, the rice and beans that came with it were smaller portioned than what I'm used to. Good experience nonetheless , waitress was wonderful, very attentive and fast service. The aesthetic is modern, they have outdoor seating both in the front and back with fans and umbrellas. We shared the trio fajitas, table side guac and queso. This is hands down our very favorite mexican place. The xxl burrito pastor with Octopus is so damn good we order it between the two of us every single time we visit. The flight of ceviche is the freshest, most flavorful ceviche ive ever had, including having ceviche in Cancun or Mexico city!! This is a def 5 star secret in our neighborhood!! read more

This place just opened up and I just had to try it! I've been here twice now and I really like it. It's close enough to work and my house so it's in a really convenient location for me. The chips and salsa are standard at Mexican restaurants. They give you unlimited chips and salsa. The chips are good and the salsa taste fresh. I find a lot of places have watery sauce so it was nice. I had the Carnitas Quesadilla which was great, usually pork is not an option on the lunch menu so it's nice that there's more variety here. I do think the quesadillas could use a little more cheese but the flavor was still good. They cook the rice perfectly here, usually a lot of Mexican places over cook it. The beans were standard. The queso is great here and a good addition to any meal you get here. We also ordered a margarita and a dessert cocktail, the Abuelitas coffee. My friend who can handle her drinks said it was quite strong even for her. I on the other hand don't drink much and thought the dessert cocktail was a bit strong tasting. I was hoping it would be sweeter like a dessert but it was still good. Everything I've tried here so far has been really good. I do think the quality and taste are better than most Mexican places in the area. Service is a little slow but the staff are very friendly here. I would recommend trying this place out. I look forward to coming back and trying more of the menu items. read more
