I have had Garcia fix my car for years and he did a good job until this year when my opinion of him changed. My car was hit and the drivers side door was damaged, requiring a new door. I had had good experiences with Garcia and I wanted him to work on my car because I liked supporting his mobile auto repair business. I got an estimate from another repair shop and asked Garcia to match the offer of $1200. He agreed. The plan was for me to leave the car at my house while I was working and he would fix it and pick up the check from my housemates while I was at work. I called him while he was working on the door to see how things were going and he told me everything was fine. When I got home, I was furious to find that the door did not open correctly and the black stripe around my car was white on the driver side door where it had been painted the wrong color. I checked with my roommate and he said that Garcia had picked up the check, despite not finishing the work or contacting me to let me know what was going on. This seemed really sketchy to me so I called Garcia a few times and got no response. I left a message and cancelled the check with the bank. It took him 3 days to come back and take a look and he repainted the stripe and fixed the way the door closed and he had the audacity to be angry with me for having cancelled the check, which he had tried to cash without finishing the work.
Two months went by and I was on a road trip to California when I put my key in the drivers side door lock and the lock mechanism pushed into the guts of the door. For the rest of the trip, I had to walk to the other side of the car to unlock my car. A week later, while I was still on the road, I tried to open the door from the inside and it would not open. I could hear metal moving around in the door and the window wouldn't roll down without making a horrible noise. For the rest of the trip, I had to climb out of the passenger side. Garcia had done a horrible job installing a new door and everything was falling apart.
When I got back in town, I called him up and he said he would take a look at it on a Tuesday. I called him Tuesday morning and he said that he wasn't working that day, but he would be in his shop after 8:30 the next day. I down to his shop, about a half hour drive, by around 10 and called him up and he told me he wasn't there and wouldn't be there until 1pm. This is all a huge waste of my time. and he showed no remorse for forgetting and leaving me hanging.
This is the first negative review that I have ever posted online. I do not do this lightly, but I want others to know what they are getting themselves into. I definitely do not recommend working with Garcia. read more
