Amazing! I have a 1978 Civic and never thought it would be so complex to restore it. I had my car at another shop and the ignition broke and most everyone I knew or talked with said good luck. Lloyds was welcoming and they always were very happy and respectful and to add, inviting. My ignition works perfectly and they even utilized my AAA discount and they were the ones who recommended Lloyds to me. There were other issues with my car and the fixed my door latch which they fabricated the connectors. Impressive! Then my car didn't run right and so they installed a new Weber and not a copy. The tire folks told me I had uneven tire wear and since I was in need of my 3rd set of tires in 10,000 miles, they suggested an alignment. They actually suggested Midas, but due to a relationship with National Auto next door, I was turned on to these guys. When I called to inquire about services, they couldn't have been any nicer. Like most auto places, they tried to discourage me from waiting and suggested I leave the car for the day. In order to do that, you either got to give me a loaner, or have enough retail and entertainment for me to be comfortable while I'm in the area. This place is a desert, and a loaner wasn't an option, so I decided to stay. Ironically, the interior was comfortable, not at all what I expected. There was probably room for 8 people to wait comfortably. There was a TV, but it wasn't on and they had bottled water and chips non gratis. They told me book time for my car was 2.5 hour, so I should expect to be there for at least 3. Book time is a joke. For example, if you wash your car, you probably take 30 minutes to rinse, wash, rinse again and dry. That is book time, what it takes the average person to complete a task. A friend of mine used to be a detailer and he could wash and dry a passenger car in about 3 minutes. It's not about rushing, it's about repetition. When you are good at something it doesn't take as long and book time is about charging you more. In this case, they had a flat fee for services but always know what you are dealing with when you choose a mechanic. If it takes them an hour to complete a service, they shouldn't be charging you for 2.5. Long story short, I was there for less than an hour, they completed the service, and I couldn't be more pleased. The level of professionalism, kindness and courtesy are attributes this industry lacks and it was refreshing to experience them today. Again, off what I consider the beaten path, but their strong review profile speaks for itself. I've been driving for 40 years and this is my 3rd alignment. Not a service most people need often, but whatever you need, if these guys offer it, I recommend it. read more

I had aftermarket headlights installed that worked out okay. However, the headlights adjustment was not included. Beware of additional costs or be prepared to take your vehicle to an entirely different auto body shop to complete service. I took my vehicle back to the body shop for the headlights adjustment and was told to do it myself. read more

I've been taking my cars to Lloyd's for years because 1) they know their stuff, 2) they're good people, and 3) the shop is AAA-rated. Point 1: We've talked cars and they explain things as fully as I'd like. I'm a down-in-the-weeds kind of guy when it comes to cars but if you're not, they'll explain things in a way that makes sense to you. I've seen 'em do it. Point 2: Last time I was in, I asked about my brakes and a possible warped rotor causing pulsating when I brake at highway speeds. They confirmed that it was warped and could have turned the rotors to fix it, but the brakes still have 15-20,000 miles left on them. They gave me the choice of turn them now or wait for the next brake job, when the rotors would be turned anyway. Great show of respect for my wallet. Point 3: The AAA rating is important because AAA conducts random audits of customer satisfaction. If they don't get a very high percentage of positive reports (in the 90%+ range, I believe), the AAA certification is pulled, so it's in the best interest of the business to keep its customers happy. My daughter and her two girls were on their way home from an out-of-state trip when her oil pan was punctured by a large road hazard. I'm not sure how she got hooked up with these guys, but Shelly saved the day. She talked my daughter thru the process of getting her car safely to the shop during heavy traffic in an unfamiliar area. One of their mechanics was kind enough to stay late in order to perform an emergency repair so they could complete the last 30+ miles of their trip. Everyone was over-the-top helpful and gracious, and also provided some treats for the kids. Shelly, Tony, and unnamed tech, thank you so much for helping my family thru a very unsettling experience, and working with her to make sure all the damage from the incident was noted, corrected and included in the insurance claim. I brought my 2015 Honda van in thinking I was going to need to replace my transmission they went above and beyond for me. They ended up doing a transmission flush and a couple other things, and I've never been more satisfied. They only had to have my car for one day, which in the past at other locations, I've been out of cars for weeks at a time, they were honest upfront and it was a very welcoming great atmosphere!!! "Act like you own the place" was Lloyd's catch phrase. He is one of the kindest mechanics I have ever encountered. My boyfriend and I were having car trouble- our car kept over heating repeatedly. Lloyd and his crew helped and fixed the problem swiftly. And they also found other issues with the car that other mechanics never pointed out to us. Lloyd made us feel welcome and as if we were at home! If we ever have car trouble in that area again, Lloyd's will certainly be the first place we stop at! Paid over 5 thousand dollars a few months ago to dave my engime, AS Tony Caroll, said i neefed all these parts imcluding turbo charger, pistons. Timimg chain. Battery. Qnd other parts . Still bad motor he fucked me. I called him when my car does a few months later He offered to tow me to his shop. Then charges me 125.00 for tow. And billed me for 135 engime imspection. We recently had some unexplained issues with our Toyota Camry. Had it worked on at 3 auto repair places in the last 6 weeks. Lloyd's was the third place and simply outstanding. Since the computer diagnostic didn't reveal the issue, Tony (a master mechanic was working the front desk) did a test drive. I use Yelp and other review sites a ton but never post reviews myself. My recent experience at Lloyd's warrants a 5-star note. I rolled in about 3:30, towed in fresh off the highway. My car randomly died and I needed to be back on the road asap. The guys at the shop quickly assessed what needed to happen, explained in terms I understood, and told me it could take an hour to get the replacement part or might need to be done in the morning. They closed at 5-something so I was preparing for the worst but expecting the best. Low and behold, my cell rings not 45 minutes later. They got the part, fixed the issue, and were done. During a recent oil change on my 1996 Ranger, I was informed by a local Ford dealership that my serpentine belt needed to be replaced. They gave me a quote of $192 plus tax. I decided to shop around and forgot about it for a couple weeks. Then yesterday, on my way home from work, I drove by Lloyd's and remembered the wonderful job they did on another vehicle a few years ago. I stopped in and asked Tony for a quote, which he priced out at $96, including tax. Sounded like a good deal to me (since I have neither the tools nor the time to do the work), so I asked to make an appointment. He said, "How about now? It only takes about 15 minutes." Cool! I recently moved out to Des Moines from Shoreline area and was looking for a local mechanic. I'd been having some problems with my truck and didn't have the time or knowledge to fix them on my own; My speedometer and odometer went out and weren't functional- I tried a few things myself such as replacing the VSS on the transmission, but that didn't work, so I went to a junk yard and picked up a spare instrument cluster from a truck of the same model and year, but didn't install it because I couldn't. So I ignored it for a while, but I decided I'd get it fixed now. I went in last week, talked to Tony and he was very professional and nice, we talked about vehicles and he gave me a few pointers and said he'd be able to take a look at it and fix it. I made an appointment earlier this week to see him today, I went in this morning, talked to Tony and the tech about the issue, the tech then went and took my truck for a drive, giving an overall diagnostic and seeing how things were working. After that they took it in the shop and began examining what they found and checking out the components in the system. We found that the part I had installed, I didn't install it correctly, so that was part of the problems, they fixed that up, but it still didn't work. Tony asked if it was okay to proceed and replace the cluster, because the time had already exceeded what they quoted me; I gave the go-ahead. They then took out my dash, plugged the new instrument cluster in, replaced the backlights for it and verified it was working before installing everything back to the way it was. They put it back together and it looks perfect, everything works great and it even fixed a problem with my cruise control not functioning properly. After that, we went over the paperwork, talked about what happened, and they gave me the results of the inspection; I paid my bill and was on my way. Tony and his crew are great people, very nice, fast, and knowledgable in their trade. I'd recommend this place to somebody who needs work done on their vehicle, he's not going to rip you off, and Tony will give an honest answer about what's going on with your vehicle. A++ read more

After a trip back from the lake, our Forester ran into acceleration issues. I had to keep pumping the gas to get the car to move. NOT GOOD. All my friends were freaking me out saying stuff "its the transmission " followed by horror stories of their previous experiences of transmission issues and their accompanying price points. While driving from Seattle to Tacoma on I-5, my car started having serious problems. I got off the freeway and looked for help. A gas station attendant in Kent directed me to Lloyd's Automotive. Tony and his staff immediately came to my aid. It was near closing time, and they still made time for me and narrowed down the possible problems. Trip savers! Last week I was on my way to Squamish, British Columbia from Colorado with my two sons but without my husband. My check engine light came on in Seattle so I pulled over at the next auto shop which happened to be Lloyd's. He pulled the check engine code for me right away FOR FREE, and gave me advice on how to handle it. He could've guaranteed some business for himself by telling me that the part had to be replaced right then. Instead, he explained that the code may be a glitch or an actual issue but said the car was drivable and explained what could happen with it if there was an actual issue. He cleared the code for me so I could see if the sensor was triggered again, and I was on my way. My brother in law was able to order the part in the next town by phone, I picked it up on the way, and he changed the part out in Canada when we met up. What could've been an unexpected lost day or two of the trip and a thousand dollar fix ended up being a few hundred dollar fix. Thanks, Lloyd's!! read more

A few years ago my car needed a used engine in it and they did a good job. Tony will let you know what his prices are before he starts the work. My nephew the end of March bought a lemon car from a dealership. Sears at first fixed the car but then the coil on one of the cylinders went out. Sears could fix it but couldn't guarantee that it was the only problem. Also there was a light switch on the dash board that was out too. Between my nephew and Tony they talked about what was wrong with the car. Tony listened to what my nephew had to say and then told use his opinion. Turns out they were both right on what was wrong with the car. Tony fixed it and guaranteed his work. Yesterday I had a bolt stripped on my car and Tony fixed it. Excellent customer service.
