Updating my review from 4 years ago as I have been here a couple more times. Dave is the owner. He has a heart of gold. Someone called him overprotective of his customers. I would take that any day, any time over the alternative. Thank you very much, Dave! Had a car that died; transmission blew out. Dave and company checked it out and he was straight with me that there was no point in repairing it due to the value of the car. Only charged for the time to check it out. Brought another car in for having coolant and flare issues with the transmission. The mechanic couldn't find what the coolant issue was at first, and the car was driveable so Dave said it was OK to come get my car until the parts came in later for repair. However, he called me back not to long after to say they found the issue with the coolant and it was dangerous to drive the car. After the repairs were completed, he asked the mechanic to take me out and show me how to take care of the car until I got a software update done at the dealership. Dave asked if I needed a ride when I was dropping off cars for service and made sure I understood the costs involved. He also called me back promptly and when he said he would. I will keep bringing service here for any vehicles and referring people to them. read more

Do wrong auto repair. See attached pictures of odometer on receipt and the check engine light on BEWARE SCAM ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!! Probably my worst experience with a mechanic shop. I took my silverado truck to Mark with do rite auto repair. They "repair" the truck for 1800 and less than a week I have to bring it back to them. MARK tells me I need to replace a solenoid and qoutes me 4500$ After deciding to do it with the promise to have it done in a week I ended up waiting for 7 weeks while having to call Mark for over 10 times just to get and update and being pushed another place hearing multiple excuses blaming the mechanics blaming everyone but never taking any responsibility. Eventually after I got the truck back less than 12 miles the check engine light pops back THIS IS THE TYPE OF PLACE THAT CREATES PROBLEMS NOT REPAIRS read more

I replaced the transmission in my 65 Ford truck and in the process, the exhaust pipes from the engine back 3-4' needed to be cut and removed. I towed the truck to Do Rite and the guys helped remove it from the tow dolly and pushed onto the lift. They did an awesome job running new pipes that fit perfectly tucked between the frame and transmission. Quality craftsmanship by a local, independent shop by people that care and you can trust. Long story short my alternator died and battery wasn't good. I had just come from waiting 3.5 hours at Les Scwab for them to tell me my alternator was shot and that I had to go somewhere else to replace. They recommended Do Rite Auto down the road and I was super happy to have found them! They were able to squeeze me in and got all the work done in less than an hour and owner was super nice, friendly, and upfront with the costs. My car was there for almost two weeks just for a checkup. I Called couple of times asking for status updates and each time they said that they were getting ready to check it out. However, they never seemed to follow thru and actually check my car. They did however have time to fix and work on cars that they received days after we had dropped my car off. We have 3 cars now and they have been fixing things that have gone wrong for many years now. They are very friendly and easy to deal with. They are flexible within reason, and they have in the past actually gone above and beyond by driving my grandpa home when he dropped off his car for some repair work, and I was unable to pick him up. It shows just how much importance they put on customer satisfaction. They don't want you to feel like just another number, they want you to know that not only do they care about your vehicle, they also care about you! Personally I really dislike getting that realization, that feeling that you are nothing to them, you mean nothing to them, spend your money here or don't, it doesn't really matter to us because your just this tiny little speck of nothing to us. Here today, gone tomorrow. Whatever. Oh I'm sorry who are you again? Wait wait, actually don't bother even answering that because I just realized I actually don't even care. There are many businesses out there today that fit this perfectly and they are creating a larger customer base of people who have no loyalty. More people who commit theft because they care nothing for the businesses they go to. They don't feel bad, and they think, why not steal from Walmart for example. Who cares, it's Walmart. Walmart definitely doesn't care about us. Don't believe me? You will if you ever find yourself upset about something Walmart did, a bad store experience that you had, Rude treatment by an employee, or having an employee snap at you or lie directly to your face. Standing forever in line at the one and only open check stand, while watching as 10 employees stand 50 feet away just chatting or giggling and leaving you and everyone else waiting and waiting and waiting. You go ahead and "Call the corporate phone number, make a complaint online or on the Walmart app, go and speak face to face with a store manager. See just how far you actually get. See if you actually make even a single slight difference. See if you get anything at all to change for the better. I won't hold my breath. Oh boy I really went off an a tangent there. LOL. Very fast and efficient. They fixed my exhaust leak. They thought they fixed it the first time, but missed a spot weld. So, I called them up and they made it right the next day. This place stands behind their work, and that's the main thing you should be looking for in a repair shop. Prices were more than fair too. Probably a little cheaper than everyone else. The only reason for not a five star rating is the waiting room. Something needs to be done with that. It isn't very inviting and could use a woman's touch. I'm a guy who could care less about a waiting room, and it even got my attention! Seriously though...they either need to fix it up, or get rid of it completely. Great people though. read more

They are honest, upfront, and do great work. Mark is completely transparent, gives me options, and helps me prioritize work into whats 'needed' and what can be put off. He's been around for a long time and knows his stuff - not only do they do great work he's a great person to have in your corner if your car is having issues. ABSOLUTLY AVOID THIS BUSINESS AT ALL COSTS!!!! THIS BUSINESS CAN'T BE TRUSTED. The salesman at the desk, Mark, is an ABSOLUTE LIAR, over charged me for a part and called my car a "piece of sh*t"!!! Went in because of positive Yelp reviews. Took my car in and the salesman at the desk, Mark, called me four days later and qouted me for $400 for the repair. I told Mark I can't afford it that at the moment and I would be in to pick my car up. Went to get my car, but then Mark said it'll be $70 for a diagnosis fee. I was a little irritated at first because he didn't tell me there was a fee to check my car, so it caught me off guard. I paid it though because I said I respected his mechanic's time. Mark then said he would credit me that $70 for any future work. I paid the $70 then left with my car. Two weeks later I bring my car in for the work. In those two weeks I had bought my own part (a cadaleytic converter), so the only work I needed was the installation (should've been around $250, $130 hr labor plus tax). He calls me the next day and quotes me for $370, saying I needed a sensor replaced also. Again I was irritated because I felt like he was doing that thing mechanics have a reputation of doing of charging and fixing unnecessary things for extra cash, but I needed my car so I gave him authority over the phone to do the work. I come in the next day to get my car and he charged me $417, after tax. I questioned the charges, and also asked him about the $70 discount. This is where things went south. Mark told me that he NEVER quoted me for $370 AND the $70 would've be applied to the previous work, had I gotten it done. I challenged him about both and at the end I paid $347. We started arguing because I was mad about the inconsistent numbers he kept giving me. I told him that was dishonest of him and he clapped back by insulting me. Mark said I wasted his time with my car and that my car, and I quote, was a "piece of sh*t"!!!!! Holy crap, I couldn't believe that!!!!!! I then pulled out my camera and started riding recording because I wanted hard evidence of what he said!!! There was also another customer there that who witnessed the whole thing and took my side. I ended up paying for the work and I left. To add insult to injury I looked up the the additional part my car needed, an oxygen sensor, and HE CHARGERED ME $100 FOR IT!!! I got great service here. The owner is very knowledgeable and gets straight to the point. My car was having trouble starting and the engine was sputtering and stalling, and he instantly recognized that my alternator was failing. All the places I went to before had assumed it was the battery. My vehicle was repaired in a timely manner and now runs right as rain. I took my truck in late Friday afternoon just to get an estimate to replace my muffler and exhaust pipe after it broke and was hanging. I only expect that they would look at it and tell me what their cost would be but to my surprise the mechanic lifted my truck and then invited me out to look at the broken muffler and explained what he would do to get me back on the road and approximately how much it would cost if I wanted the same brand muffler or that he had a knockoff of the same brand but much cheaper if I wanted. First off, I appreciated him showing me and explaining in detail what he felt was needed and appreciated even more being given options to save money. I was even more appreciative when he took me back in the office and said that he would stay and do it for me right then and there if I wanted. I couldn't believe it and didn't expect to have it done so quickly. The whole process, I kid you not took less than an hour. The owner is super friendly and made it known that they aren't in the business to take advantage of people or to upsell. I can't recommend this place any higher than to say if you want to take your car to guys you can trust then this is the place. I was hoping that I made the right choice with Do Rite Muffler. As it turns out, I did!! With no reviews on Yelp I was a little worried; they have been in Kent for 20 years, and they have no reviews?? I called about having a muffler installed on my F-150. The guy on the phone said even though someone called in sick, they could still do it today if it was there by 3. It was 1 oclock-- I pull in, they put my truck on the rack, torch the old muffler off, weld the new one on, done in 30 minutes! They have a NEW address now: 21225 84th Ave S. Kent WA, 98032 --at 212th and Central next to Chevron. Do Not goto the old 208 Central It cost me $150, not sure how that compares with other shops. (no tail pipe, just a muffler--looks like a $50 Napa special) I always went to Certified Brake and Muffler Next to Lake Meridian until they went out of business a few years back. Okay, fellas! Here's your glowing review! Dave, Guy, Steve and all you guys there at Do-Rite.... These guys took me in as a broken down 29' Beaver coach, two weeks ago when I broke down in Kent, 12/2/16, and ended up in their parking lot over the weekend. Fortunately, it was only a clogged fuel filter, and they had me on my way Monday afternoon. I was so impressed with their reputation as exhaust specialists, I scheduled a muffler and pipe replacement with Guy Thomas, for my journey back to Oak Harbor, on 12/15/16. He had me out by closing. Then, through NO fault by Do-Rite, my fuel filter of 2 weeks, clogged up again when I left their shop and I had to spend another night in Kent, so they could look at it again today. They practically dropped everything to accommodate my 29' Beaver intruding in their small parking lot for another day while they replaced the fuel filter again. I can't say how much I appreciate their generosity and customer service toward me! They made my vacation to CA bearable, even though I never made it to CA, I met some wonderful new friends, whom I plan to take my rv's 1983, 454 Chevy engine and motor to, whenever it may need work. I went here on 07/16 to get my dual mufflers on my mazda. I informed Guy that I'm really short in time and I work 7 days a week. I asked him if he can get it done and he told me he will get right to it. He got the muffler job done within 2 hours and I was able to get to work on time. I think the price I paid was fair for the job and Guy and his crew are honest and nice guys.
