One Star I brought my vehicle to Emily's Garage in Burien for a routine oil change. Shortly afterward, my engine failed catastrophically. An independent inspection determined the cause was improper installation of the oil filter. Specifically, the protective plug was not removed from the oil filter prior to installation, which blocked oil flow and led to engine failure. This was not a defective part, it was a handling error. As a result, I was left with a disabled vehicle, significant downtime, and major repair costs. The matter ultimately required legal involvement and was resolved through a settlement with their insurer. Mistakes can happen, but this was a basic procedural failure with severe consequences. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Emily's Garage for even routine service. read more

Do not come here for an Uber or Lyft inspection. They will failure for things that are not on the actual inspection list. I was told that they were "tears" in the rear passenger was a "hazard". There are no tears. Yes, the leatherette is worn. it's a car with 270,000 miles on it and has had about 21,000 Uber and Lyft passengers in it. The service writer said that the worn fabric could "get caught on a passenger as they were trying to exit the vehicle". That is one of the single most ridiculous things I've ever heard. I could tell I had a misfiring cylinder in my car and my engine was due for a sparkplug replacement. So I decided to try out Emily's for the first time. I've been wanting to find a place within Burien to avoid needing to take my car to Southcenter for maintenance. I received a text link for the estimate and authorization process. I had previously been using Firestone as my main mechanic work, Emily's offers better pricing than Firestone which was a nice surprise! On my way to the appointment, my CEL came on. Knowing it was already misfiring, it was just confirming that was the issue. I asked them to see if the sparkplugs being changed fixed it prior to running diagnostics. It turned out that wasn't the core issue, so diagnostic was necessary. They found it was a coil. I had a coil replaced previously but under advise from Firestone didn't get all four done. Thankfully Emily's suggested all 4 being changed and the price for them to do the job was the same cost as Firestone had charged for just one! I was lucky that Emily's was able to get the additional work done that same day! They're a busy shop but very well ran. They have full staff and are extremely attentive. I'm excited to have found somewhere close by that has solid service and affordable prices. read more

Do not ever go here for any reason unless you dont care about your time. I went in on a Tuesday for a couple of minor things, wasted two hours of my time (not counting the time it took me to drive there) just to be told to come back the next day, i did and then they proceeded to waste another hour of my time just to tell me they would have to reschedule for Monday know well its something that needed to be done today. I have a three year relationship with Emily's Garage. Angela and Leslie are the gals working the front desk. The waiting room is clean and comfortable. They ask questions about symptoms and get back quickly with an estimate. The first time I went in there, the car had a major fuel injection problem. I brought my Aunt's car up from California and it ran fine for six months. Then one day the idiot lights started going bonkers. There was white smoke coming out of the tailpipe. I feared a head gasket. They diagnosed the fuel injection system and asked me if my Aunt ever did maintenance on the car. She sent her caddy to the local dealer. I used to visit her every 6 months and always helped pick up her car. There was always a hefty bill. The car is a 2010 caddy CTS with 60,000 miles on it. I was given an estimate of $2400. It was detailed and they spotted other problems. I was shown parts and did the recommended repairs. They promised the car in three days. It should have been ready Friday, but a part had been forced in and it wasn't the right one. Jason had already spent a couple hours trying to get it out. He came in Saturday on a day off and he spent more time trying to get it out. I expected the labor would be more. They stuck with the original estimate even though there must have been at least 4 hours more labor. They even said they were sorry the car wouldn't be ready until Tuesday! I have another story that happened in August 2025. The car now had 75,000 miles. I noticed the power steering was acting strange. I went to a quickie oil change place and asked them if the power steering fluid was low. It was. I was relieved. However, the next day it really became impossible to steer. I drove it in and asked Jason to check it out. The car is fifteen years old. They estimated $1200. I already did my homework and consulted my buddies who know cars. They said the estimated costs were reasonable and that the repairs were plausible due to the age of the car. The car was repaired on time and they waived the diagnostic fee. I had the car back 2 days. The electrical system in the car was going haywire. I started swearing because a fishing expedition through the electrical system is a trouble shooting nightmare. I had it towed to Emily's. I knew these issues had to be separate from the previous repair. The car would not turn over. the AAA guy had an impossible task to get it on the truck. When we got it to the garage, he couldn't get it in neutral. He got it off the truck, but it was stuck in the middle of the parking lot. I could not roll up the electric windows. I was resigned to the fact that a homeless person was going to sleep in my car all weekend and smoke crack, fentanyl, meth or all three the rest of the weekend. When I came in Monday, my car was safely in the auto bay. Jason was driving by Saturday afternoon and broke into the trunk. For some reason this car has a battery inside the trunk. He got the car started, but I am sure it was time consuming and a real bitch to get to. I was worried Jason would think I was going to accuse them of messing up my car. I have had a small service business for 30 years and have dealt with the public for 25 years before I started my business. I made a joke about being madly in love with him and just wanted to be near him no matter the cost. They quickly gave me several reasons for the problem. I prayed it was the alternator and battery. He told me I needed a new battery. I was incredulous because it was only a tear old. I got it from budget battery. He said the battery was not right for the car and I was lucky it hadn't damaged the whole wiring harness. (Typo above: year old). They gave me an estimate and waived the diagnostic fee. The estimate was very reasonable. I picked up the car, blew my true love a kiss and drove away. The day after I got it back, all the car's computer systems began shutting down while I was driving down Pac Hi-way. I pulled into the Lowe's and swore at the Caddy from hell. It was Saturday of Labor Day Weekend. Monday, I towed the car back to Emily's. I rented a car because I knew it wouldn't be looked at until at least Tuesday. The AAA guy managed to get the car parked even though he couldn't get it in neutral. When I came in Tuesday, the lot and street parking was full. I came in and smiled. I don't know why. They quickly diagnosed a faulty alternator. I told them I had the car rented until Friday so I was in no hurry. I picked up the car Thursday morning. There was no charge. They apologized. My Aunt passed in late April. I have been slow to inter her ashes. Did she haunt the car until we interned her in September? No matter. The haunted caddy from hell is doing well thanks to Angela, Leslie, and Jason the man of my dreams. If only I was 25 years younger! read more

Do not waste your time or money here. This is why; I had my car brought in on multiple occasions in attempt to fix the same issues. the first issue was a mass air flow (MAF) sensor error. They charged me for a full diagnostic, and for the work done, but my issue was never fixed. I bought my own OBD reader and found out my MAF sensor isn't reading any voltage. why am I finding this out, but the "professionals" can't? Then I made another mistake and brought it back for a malfunctioning ignition switch, I paid close to $1100 for them to replace the unit. The next day my car wouldn't even start. The front desk advised me that they will take a look at it, but they will most likely have to charge me for another diagnostic($180). I understand they need to run a business, but why am I paying for services that haven't been resolved? why am I paying again for the same issues? read more

I drive ride share. This is one of the few mechanics certified for ride share car inspections. At inspection my rear brake pads were at 4 mm which is a fail. Before having them do the work I took my car in to the dealership for a full 30k mile inspection. They measured the brake pads the same and said the rotors are fine. So I bring the car back to Emily's for brake pads and they have rotors built into the estimate for another $200 per axel. I tell them my rotors are fine and if they find different I need to see the old rotors. They say the rotors are grooved too much to be resurfaced and need to be replaced. Ok. They have my car ready at 4:57 with the doors already locked and I ask I see the old rotors. They are fine. Smooth, no grooves. I am now sitting in their waiting room while they put my old rotors back on. They were eager to run my card before the mechanic brought the old parts out. I wonder how often this works out for them. read more

I had an unusual situation with an appointment with my truck with my heater from a 2002 avalanche, but the breke line failed from rust. The staff and mechanics were able to get the parts and fix the truck within a week at a very reasonable costs. Emails and calls and texting were really a nice up-to -date responses. I would not recommend this place to anyone. I have a 2018 Honda and they strong armed me into a premium prices. $100 for an oil change. This is not my first time getting an oil change and I've never had issues getting a synthetic blend. Even when I went to a Honda dealership. But here they claim they can only do what's "recommended"- correct me if I'm wrong but isn't another word for recommendation, a suggestion? So if they warn me of the risks and I'm willing to take full liability for getting synthetic blend why not allow me to get that service? Instead of telling me I can leave? How in the world is that customer service? And my only option is to bring my own oil if I wanted synthetic blend. I would've left and went somewhere else if I wasn't so low on my oil, I could hear the grinding in my gears. Which also means I couldn't wait another two weeks for an oil change to bring my own oil- why not communicate that contingency with you customers from the jump so they're not surprised. To sum it up: bad business practice and horrible customer service, never coming back. And will warn anyone needing an oil change or any maintenance on their car NOT to come here. I was excited to to used Emily's for a quick oil change. I loved the option of making an appointment instead of showing up and waiting. I have a limited lunch break so this was a great option. I made my appointment for 12:30 PM and I arrived at 12:25 PM to a parking lot full of cars with no where to park and a waiting room with about 6 to 8 people. This wasn't the experience I was hoping for. I ended up leaving because there was no way my car would of be finished in the time they said it would be. The staff seemed overwhelmed and I'm not sure I would of received the best oil change under this environment. So today I took my car into Emily's in Burien for an oil change & air filter. I made an appointment for 9:45 and I get there at 9:30. The nice young lady in the office checked me in and away. About 11:30 I asked if they were reinventing the wheel with my car and it was taking too long. She went to check on it and came back and told me just a little bit longer. At 11:45 she said my car was done and she told me the price I about fell over. Over $200 I said WHAT!!!!!! DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE! I First brought car in & they replaced battery, crankshaft sensor & headlight ($712 total). I picked it up and as soon as I drove off brake was sticking, so much so that car started smoking. They said I had to wait to bring it back until an appointment was available which was 1 week later. Brought it back, they removed & replaced brake power boost unit, bled brake fluid & replaced vacuum line ($1358). I picked it up and as soon as I drove off the clutch and brake were sticking. I called and they would not take a look at it for free to see if they accidentally damaged or disconnected something. They said "even if we did, we wouldn't have the parts to fix it". WhaaaaaaaTF? Needless to say I will not be going back. UPDATE- took my car to a new mechanic and THEY DID INDEED FIND THAT MY CAR WAS NOT REASSEMBLED CORRECTLY. A hydraulic line was left disconnected and a gasket was missing. They also saw my brakes were at 2-3mm which Emily's garage did not even mention to me!! Think twice before taking your car to Emily's Garage in Burien. read more

Emily's Garage is relatively new to Burien. I have a used car that I recently purchased from a dealership. The car was due for an oil change. I called the dealership where I purchased the car and they could not schedule me for an appointment for a month. That was a long time, so I scheduled an appointment with Emily's Garage within a week. Scheduling online was easy. I received text reminders and the service was completed promptly when I arrived. They checked a couple of other items--filters and tires--and assured me that they didn't need to be replaced. I hope I can use Emily's Garage regularly for service and repairs. read more

I paid for a pre-purchase checkup on lexus is350 and they found an issue about an oil you near on a seal near the timing belt. What might've looked like an easy valve gasket replacement could've resulted on an a 3,500 plus repair cost. I would always reccomend taking a car you wanna with proffesionals before you buy it and this shop really does a great job checking everything. I'd say it's a little bit pricy but it's also worth it considering all the money they can prevent you from waste.
