Karl said I needed a Torque Converter. He put it in my car but it didn't fix the problem. The warranty company I had at that time paid for everything but a $100 deductible and taxes which I was onky suppose to pay. They charged me a 3% credit card fee because the warranty company paid by credit card. I can believe a King's Transmission thinks your suppose to pay for another company's credit card fee. I paid with my debit card. When I got my car back it was still doing the same thing. He then claimed this Friction Modifier that he sells to car dealers swear by it. He put it in my car and told me to drive it for a while. That still didn't work. I met someone else at another garage that drove my car and put his computer on it and said I needed a Transmission. I took it back to Karl who said then I needed a Transmission. Needless to say the warranty company subtracted the amount they paid on the torque converter from the salvaged transmission because they said he misdiagnosed my car. That left me paying over $1,200. I filed a complaint with the attorney General office and his wife replys after I respond to Attorney General. After speaking with the AG I was informed that I can file complaint with NC Dept of Justice. I tried to get them to fo the right thing. They are going to wished they did because I'm going to file my complaint with NC Deot of Justice. They are crooks so stay away. read more

Seeing as I know nothing about cars, it is quite painful to bring your car in for headlights that don't work. I was told that my car needed a new bulb in one side, and something else in the other. It was like, $200 to fix. They had it done within a few hours. The only reason I'm giving a 4 instead of a 5, is because I don't think it was worth $200 to fix the headlamp issue. It isn't easy to find service technicians you can trust completely. When my transmission in my 2005 Suburban failed while on the wrong side of Puget Sound, I was scrambling to find a shop that could look the truck much less fix it. You see, my wife is in the military and we are currently deployed to Japan, and I keep my truck at my Mom's for when we visit. My transmission had been giving me hints of failure but I was hopeful it would last and/or not be a dramatic failure. But the transmission died early in my two weeks scheduled visit in June, and after calling around to a number of places I had referrals to or I knew from when we lived in Maple Valley, no one was available to even look at it for a few days. I was thinking of towing the truck back to the Silverdale area when I contacted Kings. They accepted the truck that same day and gave it a thorough diagnostic (including test drive) the next morning. The unfortunate determination was that the transmission needed to be rebuilt, but they were able to start on the job immediately. I told them how important it was that I get my truck back before I returned to Japan, and sure enough, they returned the truck to me in one week (and two days before my departure.) The cost of the rebuild was high, but completely in line with the industry pricing for this service. And with the assurances I have been provided by Kings, I am completely confident that the repair is a quality one. Perfection is impossible, but good people doing good work and then standing behind that work is sometimes hard to find. You will find it at Kings. read more

I dropped my SUV off on Wednesday 8/3 for transmission issues. I was told they would do a diagnostic to find the problem. I was asked at drop off if any lights were showing , I told Allan which lights were on. On Thursday I get a call telling me my alternator was bad, and it would cost $556 for replacement and labor. I told Allen we have a warranty on our alternor and it was nothing wrong with it when we dropped it off. He explained it wasn't kicking out enough juice. We called our warranty in and got another alternator. We heard nothing from Allen until we went by there on Friday morning. Allan then told us the alternator sent was no good also. So he waiting g for them to send another one. After a half day with no communication we called Allen and told him we were coming to pick up our vehicle. When we get there, Allen told us the cost was $434. When asked for what? Allan said they had to replace the alternator 3x. We explained to Allan that was not the issue they were supposed to be repairing. Allan became very upset telling me that he can charge me for the 3x they changed the alternator. I again told Allen he was not charging me for something that wasn't the problem in the first place. I ended up paying because at this point I just wanted my vehicle to take to another place for the original repairs I thought would be completed at King's Transmission. Allen could not explain why those repairs was not completed. He then demanded that I sign the receipt in which I refused. On this receipt he demanded me to sign it said the customer chooses to take her vehicle as is. I told Allan I am definitely not signing the receipt. Allan began yelling at me and threatened to call police on me. I did not sign the receipt and Allan pulled my car out of the port and slammed the door. He did not give me a copy of the receipt, they left my fuse panel open and walked away without even checking to see if my vehicle was cleared of any danger. I've had to go back 7 times now for a transmission rebuild that was done about a year ago. It's been due to everything from them using the wrong parts, not doing the rebuild properly, or just straight leaving parts out. And now that I've taken it in for the 7th time I've been cussed out, disrespected, and threatened but the guy at the front counter. For anyone thinking about using this shop just know they do not take responsibility for their mistakes, they will say your vehicle doesn't run right even though it runs just fine, and they will now threaten you even after spending $4,200 in repairs and another $1,000 in tow bills. If you want a good shop or even just a safe shop to go to this is not for you. If you want to get threatened and have the guys try to fight you in the parking lot as you walk to your car this is the place for you. read more

I got my transmission fixed here six months ago, so far it's been running really good except there is a tiny tiny leak in the seal but Allen said he can fix it with no charge. I took my 1970 Ranchero in to Kings for a last chance repair on my brand new C-4 Transmission that a Covington shop had put in in- correctly. The manager/owner was super nice and helpful, fixed the problem for less than half of what the so called mechanic in Covington charged. King's was totally honest from the start, didn't try to give me some bogus quote and then supplement the bill later, didn't tell me to drop it off and then shanghai me for 2 weeks hanging on to my car. He told me "first come first serve", and bring it in early morning. I brought it in, he looked gave me a quote and was within 10% of a quote and it has worked great ever since. What more can you ask for? I am coming back for new work next week and wont be taking my vehicles to other shops any more. read more

I'm from another state and on my my to Florida with time sensitive equipment for NASA - but alas they had no time to even plug in their diagnostic tool and help out. I would find another shop to help. No one expects problems but when they occur it's nice to find people along the way willing to help out and make a difference. read more

I would hesitate to go to this shop again. Strange experience was, they do check "check engine" light for NO COST but when they do check, they want you to allow them to charge you ~$175. If they say that they are checking for free then why don't they just do that. They are tricking people to pay. read more

Eric Christman of King's Transmission in Kent Washington stole $941.14 from us in 2017 for transmission parts he purchased from us. He installed these items inside a customer's transmission, collected the bill on the job from the customer and then filed for a charge back against his bill with us. He kept all of the customer's money on the job, got his money back from buying parts from us and never returned the parts. If he will do this to another transmission business, you can bet he will do this to you as well. It's a shame that shops like his exist and give the industry such a bad reputation in general. read more

I was referred to Kings by my brother who is a mechanic but does not do transmission work at his shop. I talked to Mark who was great on the phone when I explained what was happening and that my car was giving a transmission code (some mechanic talk my brother told me), he said to drive it down and he would look at it for free and then call me with the info on costs. Funny thing was that yes, it had a transmission code but the current issue causing the problems was the catalytic converter. My bro had mentioned the cat being a problem but thought the transmission was causing the immediate problem. Well, Mark gave me a price to fix it but did state that they are not an emissions shop so to check with my bro as he may be able to do it for less. Even with my family discount etc. at my brother shop, Kings Trans ended up being less. So...bottom line, Kings figured out that the problem wasnt the transmission (yet), gave me a great price to fix and had me fixed within 1 day. He gave me the info for getting my transmission fixed as well. As soon as I scrounge up the $ I will for sure be heading back down to Kings to get it fixed. read more

I came to them awhile back to fix my transmission and they charged me 1,100.00 and told me it was good..then awhile passed and I went to get an oil change at my sisters work and they told me I had two leaks in my transmission. So I called kings back and told him and brought it in and he said no charge but then he called me and said it needed a new seal and that someone must of messed it up when they put in a fuel pump,and I never even had a fuel pump put in so I didn't understand it..but I said ok I'll pay 250.00 then he calls next day and says well u really need a new transmission,I said I can't afford that..he said ok we'll make sure u keep checking the fluid..before I took it there it was running fine had no issues except the two leaks my sister told me about,after I picked it up I barely made it home,it's shifting bad and when I'm at a stop it doesn't wanna move then I hit gas hard and it finally shifts hard into gear... these guys are theives who rip off people ...I would never recommend them ever !!!!! read more

So I bought a car from my Uncle and he had payed $3,500 for a transmission by Kings Transmission. First of all that is extremely high for a transmission repair. I have had transmission repairs done to many cars in my time and most of the time a few parts need to be replace but not EVERYTHING like they did to my Uncle. That in it's self was Scummy. So the Transmission had less than 11,000 miles on it and it went out. The car has always been babied and has low miles on it. The warranty expired on the time part 3 months ago. So I called to ask them if they would still honor the mileage part. Any machanic or normal person knows that even if you drove the car hard if the Transmission was done right you still would get more than 11,000 miles out of it. I ended up talking to Adam who right away started making excuses about hiw they weren't liable and when I told him knew about transmission and that he should do the right thing he said I was a "kniw it all" and hung up on me. I WOULD NOT GO TO THESE CROOKS. I would go to ABC Transmission or Auburn Drivetrain. I've never had issues with them I just wish my Uncle would of asked me first. If I would of had a issue with them they would of said bring it in and would of done what they could to make it right. Kings know that it's obvious they messed up somewhere but they've been payed so they could care less. I will take my car to ABC Transmission and repost what they find. I invite KINGS TRANSMISSION to respond to this add with something other than how the car was driven. Like I said the car has been babied you would have to be power Shifting really hard and often to blown a completely rebuilt transmission out after 11,000 miles !!! I had my clutch replaced here about a year and a half ago. The service was awful. In the process of replacing my clutch one of the mechanics ran out my starter. They didn't charge me for the labor to replace the item they had broke but I still had to pay for the part. Additionally it took much longer than the estimated time scheduled. The REAL problem was that a year and a half later my clutch had gone out again. Strange because I've only put about 1200 miles on my vehicle since kings transmission "replaced" the clutch. I took it to a new mechanic this time. Import auto repair! I had a lovely experience with them!! However, the mechanic at import auto discovered that when kings transmission replaced my clutch they made SEVERAL errors. First kings transmission did not properly replace my flywheel. They choose to use several imported Korean parts on my VW in order to salvage a new form of a flywheel. This in turn scraped against my clutch leading to it going out shortly after the repair. Additionally, the clutch that was removed from my vehicle that kings transmission had installed was clearly a very old part. In fact, it was explained to me that this clutch must have been restored instead of replaced with a new one. The clutch inside my VW was older than my actual car! Lastly, the bolts that kings transmission used were not the correct bolts for my car. Therefore, in order to make the bolts bind the parts of my car together kings transmission used a glue. It has taken a considerable amount of time to get this glue off so that my cars clutch can at last be replaced properly. I paid 1100 dollars for this repair at kings transmission. It even came with a "warranty" that kings transmission did not honor when my clutch went out a year and a half later. In the end the old repair caused me to pay 300 more to fix what they did wrong. Additionally, I had to have the clutch they installed "new" replaced after just a year and half. This mechanic will swindle you! They do not understand VW models and I wave a flag with caution about this company. Please take your vehicles elsewhere!! read more

I have been a loyal customer for years, they are too expensive, over-charge, but are, till today good mechanics. Spent thousands there, enough to buy another better vehicle. I had issues with engine, loss of power, engine shuddering, cutting out on step hills, so took it in. I surmised it was fuel or electrical issues with the counter person, I said check "Injectors, carb, fuel pump, fuel filter, COIL PAK. $206 later, I had "4" new spark plugs. That was the problem they said. Right outa the gate it went right back to same problems. Which shows they didn't bother to drive it after they installed 7.00 dollar a piece Spark Plugs, which turns out I didn't need. By the way folks, it cost $17.50 to pull and install each Spark Plug. Blindfolded, I can find one, pull the Spark Plug Wire, put the socket wrench on it, take it out, move the plug to where I would have put a new one, return to the engine location, find it and install the Spark Plug, find the Spark Plug Wire pop it on and time? 3 minutes and that isn't even trying to be fast. They pad and over charge, even when yes, good mechanics till today. $7.00 for each Spark Plug. Set of same plugs around the corner is less than $10.00 And the test drive for 30 minutes is 50.00. They drive in around a large block or take it fast to Fairwood and back, 15 minutes tops. Back into the shop, and lo and behold! from the COIL PAK, the Spark Plug wires were going bad. Another $134.00. Incompetence and sloppy diagnostics. I'm going to small claims court on the "principle", and looking HARD at all the other work orders, will pay to have another pro mechanics view the many work orders and get a sworn written testimonial, if not out a right apperence at court. They are TOO EXPENSIVE and will rip you off, but their good mechanics. I'll NEVER go back to them. 7 years loyal customer, winced when I had to pay, "looked the other way", but HAD to have a running car. This time, they just went to far. read more

My 1999 Chevy Tahoe suffered an unfortunate event that trashed the transmission. The person who was a part of the event told me it had to go the BEST transmission place he knew KING'S IN KENT. WOW they delivered AND they asked me to bring the car back in 10 days for a check up and it goes back in 6 months so they can give it another check up! I LOVE KING'S TRANSMISSION KENT. Our car was initially towed to the Chrysler dealer and we were quoted a $5400 price to have the transmission replaced. We decided to get another opinion, and called King's as we saw it had received high ratings. Their quote was only $3500 to rebuild the transmission AND they towed our car from the Chrysler place to their location. Allen is great to work with and we would highly recommend King's Transmissions. They are honest and they did some follow up diagnostics without charging us anything extra. I can't give zero stars or else I would. I can't even begin to explain how bad this place is, recently got a clutch changed here, received an estimate agreed upon that estimate and after got told that I needed an additional $700 part which I agreed to as well, but when I went to pick up my car my bill was $200 over what I was told because according to them my car needed an additional part, but never got asked if it was okay to add. Asked for receipts of the item since I wasn't aware that it was going to be installed as well, he said "that is never going to happen" after that he grabbed the box with the old parts and slammed them on the counter right in front of me stating that I was calling him a liar and thief and told me to get out and ripped the receipt, this is one of the worst customer service experience I have ever dealt with. I brought my car there. They asked me to sign the work order or invoice before they wrote on it. I said that doesn't sound right to me. Ken Armstrong said don't worry we have been in business a long time. We are trustworthy. I believed him. They took my transmission system apart without my authorization. I ended up having to pay them $485 in cash to get my car and my transmission parts out of their shop. I took them to small claims court but Mark Shaw lied on the stand. The burden of proof was on me. July 2014 I brought my car to King transmission the current location because my car was shutting off randomly and I did not know why. Alan charged me $310.00 to "fix" the problem. After paying that ridiculous high amount my car began doing the exact same thing two days later. All he kept saying was bring it back, bring it back, bring it back, only to have my car still act up. After dealing with this back and forth thing for a few weeks I began to tell Alan that I felt like I was cheated out of my money and he got really upset with me, a side that I have never seen him before. I probably would have been better off getting my work done from a mechanic off the street. I used to bring every car I ever owned two kings transmission in Kent but after this, they will never work on any more of my cars again. Bad experience and I will never forget it. read more
