We were late for our son's school play when...Oh no...the garage door wouldn't open! Turns out the torsion spring completely snapped, and I had never dealt with this issue before. Later that day (after making the play) I contacted multiple garage door repair vendors in the area for quotes. Most of the quotes for the spring repair were similar in price, but what stood out to me about Garage Door Excellence was that Mike's response was much more informative and personable than the others. He was also upfront in answering my questions about potential replacement of my outdated LiftMaster unit. I scheduled an appointment, and Dakota appeared the very next morning. He was also very knowledgeable and helpful, and I never felt like they were trying to upsell anything. I wound up going with two high cycle springs on their recommendation. Even though slightly more expensive, the added durability would be worth it since we open/close the garage door several times a day. Thank you, Mike & Dakota, for your professionalism and honest advice...we know who to turn to for our garage door repairs in the future!! read more

I came home to find my garage door was open and wouldn't close. I called and ended up speaking to Alexa who talked me through what to look for and found that one of my garage door springs broke. They were unfortunately booked for the weekend but they were able to send Dakota over to help me close and secure the garage. The following week, they sent Mike over to replace springs and service the door. I want to commend their whole team for the great communication, professionalism, and the overall excellent job they did. You definitely have a customer for life! Thank you! read more

Received several estimates and chose this company because they were literally a couple of blocks away and I wanted to support our local businesses. Definitely no regrets! They arrived on time and conducted a thorough assessment. Dakota was transparent about the process, and what to expect, and how long it will take. Very knowledgeable and gave me options based on my needs. Went above and beyond, and provided more (included) than what was estimated. On top of that, finished sooner than expected. What we received was much better than what we were expecting that can also support future upgrades to the system. I would definitely do business (only) with them again so I highly recommend. read more

Fast, reliable, trustworthy. Literally can't say enough good things about Garage Door Excellence. They live up to their name.

Had been thinking of doing my garage door for a while. Finally decided to go for it. Got a few quotes and mentioned it to my brother. He right away told me to get with Mike before doing anything and I'm Glad I did. Not sure why he didn't come up when I chose the project thing in yelp but oh well. My brother told me he had done an very professional job and that he paid attention to detail and was fair. I have to say my brother was 100% correct. He did what others didn't do, he asked to come by and check things out for himself before giving me a quote. When he came here he followed all Covid guidelines. Wore a mask and everything. Went over my options and believe it or not he was smack in the middle of the quotes I had received but he offered way way more than the other two. That's really what sealed the deal. Knowing I was getting everything I wanted and more for a fair price. Installation day came and his workers were clean, courteous and quiet. (Lol) i expected with all the movement going in there it would be loud but honestly I didn't even notice anyone was there. They got the installation done on time and it was more than I could had ever expected. They cleaned after themselves and left everything better than before. Mike came by to make sure everything was correct and noticed the two corner little windows were not the ones ordered. He promptly talked to the supplier and got it corrected. The communication back and forth was effortless and he always got back to me quickly. If I had to Recommend anyone for a garage door I wouldn't skip a beat in referring him. Not only is his job exceptional but he is also an exceptional business owner. read more

Our garage door cable broke and we called Mike at Garage Door Excellence. His tech, Dakota. Came out the next morning and was very knowledgeable. He did an awesome job checking the springs and replacing the cables. He tightened all the bolts and lubricated the rollers and springs. Dakota did a fantastic job. I would love to show a picture of how my garage doors looks take a look at the attachment. This job was a disaster. From the installer and his issues to how the owner handed the situation. I ordered a new garage door for my older home from Garage Door Excellence. They were friendly, helpful, accommodating, and gave excellent advice. My garage is a very visible part of my home and it was important to me that it compliment the look and style of the house. They arranged in advance for a time to come, removed by 90 yr old garage door, and installed the new door. They taught me all the new features, and cleaned the door before leaving. They followed Covid protocols and made me feel comfortable and safe with their work. I'd highly recommend the team at Garage Door Excellence. read more

We just bought a house which had a very outdated and rotting wooden garage door. After contacting a few different companies, Mike gave me the best first impression in terms of customer service. He was quick to respond and provide all types of descriptions and photos explaining all the types of garage doors/motors/equipment/etc available. He was very knowledgeable and genuinely made us feel like he had our best interest in mind. Mike's pricing was very competitive and we were able to have our door replaced in about a week from initial contact. Mike's tech, Dakota, was very friendly and kept us updated on timing and completion of the job as promised. The job was done by the time promised, and the garage door turned out perfect. We went with the basic chain motor and white steel door which was exactly what fit our needs, and the door is surprisingly incredibly smooth and quiet. I would absolutely recommend Garage Door Excellence for any garage door needs. read more

The springs on our double car garage door gave out- with an amazingly loud bang-on a Sunday. Called and left a message requesting service. Mike was responding Monday morning as they opened. Their schedule was full up that day but booked me for 1st appointment Tuesday morning. Dakota came out Tuesday after calling to say he was on his way. Very professional and friendly. Entire repair and tuneup was quick and well done. He even looked at our other garage door to make sure it was in good shape Price was exactly as quoted by Mike, which seemed reasonable Glad I listened to all the other top reviews-great service. Great experience. Technician was on time, polite and did a great job. Yelp makes you write more but all good.

Had an issue with a old door opener that was failing. Kept bringing the door back up on closure, with no impediments. Called Mike to adjust or review the issue. Dakota came out the next day, friendly and very courteous. Explained the issue (which I suspected...very old garage door opener at end of reasonable service life.). Offered a fair price to attempt to adjust, or a range of prices for replacement with zero hard sell. I had anticipated needing a new one, and was given a couple options, no push for any price level. We chose and he installed on the spot within two hours. Very clean and thorough, fantastic install and the new opener is a fantastic upgrade. He also took the time to adjust and lube the springs and wheels for no additional charges. Excellent communicator (both Mike and Dakota) and something I respect greatly, when I asked him to explain the differences in openers to my wife, he was absolutely respectful, clear, and talked directly to her, not at her or to me like I have experienced in the past from other people doing work at our house (I don't park in the garage, I want her to be happy with the function!). If I could give them more than 5 stars I would definitely do so. Used them previously in 2016 for wheel and spring replacement and same great service, communication and attitude. Fantastic! read more

Excellent service! Called with a garage door issue yesterday evening and today it was fixed. Thank you Dakota!

Wanted to do a few upgrades to our garage door setup in preparation for some other things we want to do in the garage (cabinets, some exercise equipment, etc.). Requested a quote and Mike was very responsive and informative in all channels of communication (email, in person, etc.) We talked through what I wanted and he offered me some guidance and confirmation for what I wanted done. His prices were very competitive and when I found out he was close by, I was sold. Great value and local? Count me in. Dakota ("Cody") showed up on time (calling ahead to let me know he was on his way), and got all the work done as expected. In all, I got a new torsion spring, new side mount opener, and raised the height of the open garage door by several inches. The garage already feels so much more spacious! read more

Got 3 estimates for a new garage door. This place beat everyone. I was a little hesitant because I rarely go with the least expensive estimate, but the owner was just so nice and professional. I highly recommend. We got a new door and opener and we are really happy. They were not pushy and gave us lots of options to look at. Installation was fast and the service technician took time to explain everything. Highly recommend. read more

My old Liftmaster of 22 years finally went out. I was in need of a new system and I found GDE on a google search. Gave them a call and spoke to Mike, who gave me a run down of my options. Mike was very informative and explained the available models and options. He didn't push anything for a sale. I went ahead with his premium choice of liftmaster. He sent out his installer...Dakota, within 2 hours. Dakota installed a new motor with belt drive, camera, new clickers, new button, sensors, tuned up the wheels, greased everything up. All I can say is wow! Money well spent and a huge shoutout to Mike and Dakota. Great service and great products professionally installed. Thank you Gentlemen! read more

This review is long overdue. I reached out to this business a few months ago because my opener was no longer working from the remotes or wall pad. Michael responded to me in a timely manner and provided estimates for a new opener without pushing an item on me. Dakota is who came and installed and removed my prior opener. He was very nice, quick, and clean. He was patient in explaining the features to me and helped me to program it. Overall, I am satisfied with their work and would definitely work with them again. I highly recommend Garage Door Excellence for your garage door maintenance. I have a very heavy and large garage door that was temperamental. Mike worked with me on all its issues, following up promptly, very responsive. His technician Dakota was knowledgeable and cleaned up after the job. I meet with all the garage door opener installers in the Fairfield area and Mike is the best. In the end, I paid more with him, but after talking to all the other installers I felt he was the best to go with. I have a double garage door with an existing 1/3 Horse Power Access Master garage door opener that came with the house I purchased (the original from 2001 when the house was built). Mike and I compared the openers he sells with the ones I was looking at online and came to the conclusion to use the one I purchased online (Chamberlain B970) with using his new springs for a double door. Mike used the existing ceiling support from the older opener and the existing wiring with the new devices saving the walls from being ripped up. Ended up having him install weather stripping on the outside of the garage door and a keypad. Next time I need service, Mike is the person I am calling no questions asked. Thanks for the great installation Mike! read more

Mike and Garage Door Excellence is #1 I'm not just saying that as a cliche' phrase either. First of all, my torsion springs broke and he responded to my Yelp request within a few minutes-not hours or days. I think where a lot of businesses fail is in providing sincere customer service and building business relationships. Garage Door Excellence... excelled! Mike was not just good at providing a timely reply to my inquiry, but also providing relevant and timely communications throughout the day on what his schedule looked like. He provided real expectations. Nobody wants to sit around and HOPE a repair job arrives in a 4 hour window block. His communications allowed me to do my work and my errands. He's very professional and genuine --AND he did a great job on fixing and tuning my garage door. I highly recommend Mike and his business. read more

Just had an excellent experience with Michael and Garage Door Excellence. We replaced 2 very old wood lift up doors with the quietest rollup doors I've ever experienced. From the measuring appointment to the ordering process to installation, the service lived up to the "excellence" in their name. We checked out other companies but went with GDE due to their customer service professionalism, ease of communication through Yelp and email, and fantastic installation. I think all of the garage door companies basically use the same garage door manufacturers so the difference is the service and installation. GDE is a winner! read more

My garage springs broke. Called Mike and he was very clear on the phone. Over the phone itself he asked brief questions and diagnosed the problem, offered a quote and even gave me the option of coming out the same day. Exactly what I was looking for. When he arrived, he was very professional and seemed like a down to earth person. We chatted as he got right to work. He knows his field of work, very knowledgeable. Offered recommendations for future improvements to the garage doors. Besides changing the springs, he improved the opening and closing of the door & adjusted the rail so the wheels won't grind. Highly recommend Mike, he is just the kind of local business we need. Honest & professional! Thanks Mike read more

I'm wasn't looking for the cheapest price possible. I was, however, looking for a company that was prompt, professional, responsive, guarantees their work for a fair price and of great value. My torsion spring broke and was also looking to replacing my almost 20yr old sectional metal garage door. Already I was thinking over $1,000. Garage tech arrived promptly...called 30mins before hand...and replaced my torsion spring as quoted ($349). He also reinforced my garage door for an additional, modest price ($60)...much more better value than replacing the sectional. I saved hundred! Well recommended. I respect a company whose owner is responsive to my questions and emails. Highly recommended! read more

My Wife & I live in Paradise valley and I recently thought I was going to sand and Paint the original Wood door on our house. Unfortunately I discovered some Unrepairable dry Rot and Realized We were going to need a new door. I reached out to a couple of different door companies, it's a Saturday and it's nearly 2 P.M. I called Garage Door Excellance and I had to leave a voicemail and I also talked to another 5 star reviewed Yelp Garage door company and the person on the line stated they were getting ready to close but took my info down and they would get back to us Monday. I hung up and immediately got a call back from Dakota at Garage Door Excellance. He told me they were in the process of closing, it was a few minutes after 2 but He took down all my information and asked what I had in mind and he stated that they would get back to us Monday Morning. I thanked him and Hung up and Dakota then called back and asked if he could stop by on his way home and get a few pics and some finishing details to give the estimators a clearer picture of what we wanted. This Gentleman could have done the same as the competition but He stepped up & Impressed Me. I have been in a Service oriented Industry for years and this Young Man Get's it! First thing Monday Morning I got a Call from Mike the Owner and I figured out Why Dakota went the extra mile on Saturday! Mike is a hands on Business Owner, Who enjoys what he does and relishes in the customer service Experience. We talked and I explained what we were looking for and He is Very Knowledgeable and He listen's! The other 5 star competitor sent a salesman, who was informative and they would Email me a Quote. Mike offered to come out but from our previous conversations and Dakota already coming by with brochures and taking pics on Saturday We knew what We wanted. Both 5 star competitors were in the same ball park on price but Mike and his crew do what they love to do and it shows by Mike's constant communication through the whole process and Dakota going the extra mile on his own time after closing on Saturday before his day off! Dakota also installed the Door and the LiftMaster 8500W Vertical opener, which is a must have! The opener is super Quiet and compact, mounts out of the way and has an automatic locking slide that locks after the door is closed, keeping out the crooks! I never write on Yelp unless You Stand above and beyond the Rest! Thank You Mike! You and Your team get it! The competition never even checked back in, never! read more

I have worked with my share of tradespeople and Mike was absolutely the best. His communication style is very professional, clear and concise; a skill lost among the vast majority in the trades services. He is very prompt in his reply and respectful not to contact after hours. His prices are also very good. He also gave me options with a price breakdown to help me choose which would suit my needs. He took my job from beginning to end without a hitch. I had my garage door opener replaced today along with the springs. I purchased the Liftmaster 87504 because I wanted a quiet motor and I was not at all disappointed. I've seen reviews on YouTube stating this opener was noisy but it's ten times quieter than the one I had previously. The only thing I can hear now is the actual door moving up and down not the motor. The belt driven motor is much quieter than the 19 year old one I had when the house was built. I love the extra features like the built in motion sensor camera, bright LED lighting and the app control functions. Downloading the app allows me to open and close the garage door on my cell phone whenever or wherever I'm at. Now I don't have to worry about if I forgot to close the garage or not. I just open the app and it will display if the garage is "open" or "closed" along with the camera display. With a touch of a button on the app, that can all be resolved. It also sends notifications on your phone when the garage door has been open or closed. This feature gives you "piece of mind" when you're out of town or on a long vacation. What's also nice is that I can have other family members access the app on their phones. Last but not least I cannot forget the installer. He was very professional, kind and very informative. The repair/installation took about 3 hours but he did a very clean job. The quality and craftmanship looks top notch. He also looked over the actual garage door and did some fine tuning to make sure everything runs smoothly. Overall, great customer service! If you live in the Fairfield/Cordelia area I would recommend these guys especially since they are locally owned! read more

Like most men, my husband tried his best to fix our wooden garage door himself and after a bruised ego he realized we needed a professional; so I called Mike. Not only is Mike professional and punctual, but he even gives you a call 30min before he's going to arrive so YOU can be ready! I don't know how many times I've gotten a 3hr window and was mid task when they showed up. Our first appointment was cut short because I had no clue you needed different springs for wood than metal doors, which he didn't have in his truck at the time. After apologizing and rescheduling for the very next day, Mike came and fixed my door as well as tuning the rest of it so it was all in great order. I'd call him again a million times over!
