So I waited until today (Monday) to call the garage door company we used before, but learned that the owner had closed down. I asked him for a recommendation, and he said Ramirez Overhead Doors was locally owned and professional service. They were able to come out the same day, and the technician Patrick called ahead to say he could come earlier. He replaced both springs, which come with a lifetime warranty; he had to do some re-surfacing of the rod and mounts (possibly damaged by the hammering of the guy who came yesterday). And all for much less than what yesterday's company wanted!
