Ever been stressed out trying to find a place to park? Well this garage has a good way of taking the edge off after you finally find a spot. Tucked away in the back of a Peking garage. At first it was hard to find. But got some help from the parking attendants. We had no wait and the bar didn't seem too busy. Which is why I was little upset it took a bit longer for our drinks. Other than that, the drinks were very good! The price point is about what you would expect for a speakeasy cocktail bar. It's definitely must visit. A very cool secluded location. read more

First, I will say I've come here many times before and had a great time. Tonight's experience was unfortunately not good. Yelp very clearly says that Garage does NOT accept reservations of any kind (even though I would've liked one, seeing as we were a group of 6 on a Sat evening around 7pm). The doorman stopped us upon entering and asked us if we had a reservation. We said no, since, well, their own page on Yelp says they do not take reservations. HIs completely unhelpful answer? "Oh, yeah, that's incorrect. We cannot accommodate a party of 6 without a reservation for another hour or hour and a half." Sorry, what now? Maybe update your info on Yelp? Hard pass on what used to be a pretty great spot. read more

Garage hosted a happy hour over Zoom this past summer for my workplace, and I had a great time. They went all out with the cocktail kit which included ingredients for four drinks, and snacks for pairing. I liked how they offered home delivery of the kit instead of curbside pick up. The host was entertaining and the pacing of the class was at the right speed (event last for approximately 2 hours). If you're looking for a team building event during the pandemic, happy hour with Garage should be on your list. read more

Found this gem on a couple different cool places to visit when in Austin and we absolutely LOVED it!! The security man outside the building was nice enough to point us to the entrance for the bar since it can be a little tricky to find on your own. Once we went inside we noticed it wasn't too crowded on a Saturday around 5:30PM with people who were mostly in their late 20's or early 30's so we fit in perfectly. I ordered the Indian Paintbrush and my boyfriend got the Up and Up. Both were very smooth, mine was one of the best cocktails I've had in years!! (It was the 2015 Austin drink of the year or something like that!!) The bartender, Andrew, was fantastic! Although we didn't order food, he was very excited to give very detailed descriptions of a few different menu items that made you want to order all of the items!! About halfway through the cocktails, Andrew brought out a little piece of the Scarpetta di Manzo. He told us the kitchen made too much and was happy to give a us a taste of the food. I didn't try it (since it had meat) but my boyfriend said it was delicious and exactly how Andrew had described it to us! I would LOVE to come back to this cocktail bar next time I'm in Austin! read more

**Note, I'm not sure what their current policy/times/menu availability are during the covid** ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Nothing makes you feel hip and cool like an underground bar. I absolutely loved my experience. Depending on what time you arrive, there will be a small wait at the entrance. The place is small, so of course they need to follow fire codes and only allow a certain amount of people in at a time. Once inside, you'll be seated at the sides seats or the bar. I actually like sitting at the seats that line the wall, it was both intimate and spacious. One of our drinks was the Indian Paintbrush, it was refreshing but the rosemary can overpower the drink. We also had mini beef tartare appetizers that were tasty and had a nice kick to it. However, you could not really taste the caviar toppings, and they weren't really filling. Overall, I really looked forward to coming back here again and would recommend it to others. read more

Great atmosphere, great drinks. The Indian paintbrush was my favorite. We got lucky and got in without reservations on a Friday night. Would highly recommend, it was a great experience! read more

I loved this place! It is a hidden gem in the heart of Austin. The drinks are all phenomenal, but the space itself takes the cake. The Garage is a space inside an actual parking garage that kept its same look and feel as any downtown parking spot. The semi-round bar is a great place to sit and people watch, while the seating is warm and inviting. The plus @ The Garage is that they have a nice happy hour menu available for a good deal when you're on a budget. read more

If you happen to make your way into this hidden gem you will be very happy. It's a dark quiet place inside A parking garage. The drinks were fantastic. The service was great and I enjoyed chatting with the sweet bartender with the curly hair! We will Be back if we ever come back to Austin! read more

Finally made it to garage after wanting to make a stop there for the past year. The drinks did not disappoint! I went on a Saturday night around 7 pm and had to wait about 30-40 min. to get in, but I didn't mind too much since me and a friend were going to a few different spots downtown. We only got two drinks each because we were a little hungry and they don't have any kind of food. My friend doesn't drink so she ordered the mocktails on the menu and I have to say they were pretty tasty as well. I would love to stop by more often for a quick drink or 2 but it seems difficult to do that since there's a line on the weekends :( read more

Great date night and drinks are very good. Ambiance is on point and good place for any occasion

Really interesting spot, rather small and intimate inside, and low light. Music was a bit loud at times for how small the place was. The cocktails were fantastic: of the 4 we tried, all were excellent, but they have some that look like they wouldn't be good on the menu yet turned out to be some of the best, such as the Pearlmother. Service was fantastic as well. Highly recommend this place. read more

The only reason I gave The Garage Bar 3 stars is because of the drinks, bartenders and the fact that it is in a parking garage. The servers, hostess and bouncer, if that's what he is called, were terrible! I kept being told "the hostess is really good at her job"- wrong. She sucks. The place is so pretentious and as we were leaving the lady next to me described her drink as tasting like autumn, so what, tasting like leaves and dirt? The Official Drink of Austin from 2013 comes from The Garage, The Indian Paintbrush, but the Dripping Springs Distillery should keep it for themselves as it is their vodka. I won't go back there until the hostess and "bouncer" are gone. So maybe I should have given it 2 stars. read more

I was out on St. Patrick's day with my hubby and our Yelper friend's @Rawhide and @Nikki for a night of drinks, eats, and fun. Both Nikki and Rawhide had known of this little gem hidden away in Austin. It was a little tricky to find but when we found it I was excited. I felt like I need to give a secret password to get inside. As many have mentioned, it was hidden within a parking garage. The bar was also dark and intimate. Came in here because it's been on my list forever! Prices were as expected but the cocktails were delicious. You could do a speakeasy tour of Austin; make sure you stop here! We read online how to get in and stopped by on a Saturday evening. It was a little confusing to get inside, walk into the garage like you would be walking down where cars drive and you'll come across a glass door that takes you inside. It's dark and not huge, the perfect spot for a date! I ordered the mezcal and tequila drink. Very impressed! read more

Had a great experience at Garage. To begin with, the concept is very cool - put a very trendy and modern craft cocktail bar in the middle of a multi-story parking garage. The cocktails were simply wonderful. My favorite was the Newark - kind of a spicy, boozy, whiskey based drink - somewhat similar to a Manhattan, but with a Jersey touch. The space itself is dimly lit and mix of cold concrete meeting the rat pack era. Again very cool, modern, and trendy. Everyone in our group loved the cocktails and we ended up staying here, quite happily, for hours more than we initially planned. read more

We heard about all of the speakeasies in downtown Austin, and we needed to hit one up! One night, after dinner we looked online to see which speakeasy was the closest. Garage came right up. We read the instructions online to follow the path through the garage into the entrance. As most speakeasies are, it had very dark and moody lighting complimented by hip and trendy bartenders, small booths, and a really great craft cocktail menu. We were approached right away by our server who filled waters for us. We decided to get bourbon drinks, I got one with lemon and honey and my colleague got another bourbon inspired cocktail called Paper Plane. They were served to us up and shaken. They were delicious, they were both borderline too sweet, but still enjoyable. The place itself is very small. It wasn't very busy tonight we went, but I wondered what they did once I got busy because there is very little space. Otherwise, the bathroom is cool and felt like a sauna because it was so cold everywhere else. The service was good, the prices were decent too high because it is a speakeasy, craft cocktail. Overall, I would go here again to enjoy a drink! read more

Great cocktails. I hope that is what you are after as they have little else. Some beer. Some wine. Big whiskey selection (including a wide range of Japanese whiskeys). But it's all about the cocktails. Perfectly executed standards, creative new drinks, along with riffs on old favorites. Most reviews call it intimate. And it is. But that is because it is crazy dark and very loud. Thus you need to snuggle up to you each other to chat. And you cannot talk to anyone who is not right next to you. Cocktails were lovely (I had a Seven Day Weekend and a Greenpoint). I think the drinks looked beautiful as well but I have no idea because it was so crazy dark. Seating is carefully controlled at the front door. So expect to wait outside when it is hopping inside. There is no just squeezing in. Finally it is awesome that they serve nice tall glasses of water with everything and refill them with icy cold water (no ice) regularly read more

My wife and I walked over here for a night cap after having dinner at the Lonesome Dove. This was a pretty cool hidden bar inside a parking garage that could easily be missed with the blink of an eye. The handcrafted cocktails were really good and the choices of bourbon was impressive. Very cool bar inside of an actual parking garage. We sat at the bar even though we had reservations for a table and it was really fun! It's a bit loud and dark inside but the venue was really cool. The bouncer and hostess were great, accommodating us even though we were an hour early for our reservation. 2 bartenders were working the night my friend and I went. Maharlika (sp?) was awesome! He was friendly and helpful and his drinks were on point, perfectly balanced and delicious. However, there was another bartender (bearded guy) who had a terrible personality who made drinks that were just ok, nothing special (even though he apparently was well known for making drinks). He was downright rude and attitude-y. He did not smile once and was as unfriendly to us as he was to the 2 patrons sitting next to us (I had a full discussion about it w the guy sitting next to me). Part of being a bartender/mixologist is having a personality and people skills, which he clearly lacks. One star was knocked off the rating purely due to his unpleasantness, negative energy, and overly sweet and tart drink. This place is worth a visit. They take walk ins but it's probably better to have a reservation, if the night is busy. If you go, sit at the bar and try to get Maharlika to make your drinks...they were 100% better and he has great energy! Avoid the bearded guy unless you don't mind being treated condescendingly while being served drinks that are basic. read more

"I've never seen a bar in a garage before, I never thought I'd see one; But I can tell you, anyhow, You should check this place out." Errol M, 2014 ************************ I should have ended it right there, but I've already seen this episode of "Undercover Boss." I was at Garage with Amy D, two seats magically opened up at the bar, and I thought we were being treated like royalty. Oh wait, we were. I tend to see drinking venues slightly differently than other Yelpers, and I think this place is easily among the top ten bars in Austin. And they've nailed their downtown parking issue. A very cool venue. read more

Garage - Happy Hour Duo. Very cool bar, very clever design. - Cocktail Bars Near Me - Austin, Texas

We've all drank in a garage before, right? Well, okay... So maybe we drank beer in the garage instead of hoity-toity cocktails. And maybe we drank in a one- or two-car garage instead of a downtown parking garage. But I'm sure at least one of you can relate. A friend posted an article on Facebook about this up-and-coming place late last year. It had never occurred to me that a bar could be in a parking garage. Austin ingenuity, though I wouldn't be surprised if a parking garage bar exists elsewhere. It was intriguing enough that I decided to make a point to try this place. I had no idea where it was to be located, though. I almost always park in the Chase Bank garage when I go downtown, and I happened to notice Garage across Colorado last week when I was walking to Midnight Cowboy. This evening I parked in my usual garage to attend the CultureMap Tastemaker Awards. I stayed for less than an hour. It sucked that much. Last year's event was excellent. Not sure what happened this year. So anyway, my painful, stiletto-clad feet and I decided to give frou-frou Garage a shot. Well, maybe not a shot, because I don't normally do shots, but at least a cocktail. Some professional-looking guy was standing just outside the parking garage. I walked up and said, "So this is that new-fangled parking garage bar, huh?" He looked behind him and replied , "Oh, I guess so." It was at this point that I realized he was not the valet guy or a doorman like I originally thought he was. But apparently Garage offers valet parking. They had a sign. But I saw no one valet parking any cars. So I really don't know, I guess. There's a door in the front, but you'll run smack dab into a table if you try to go through it. Go to your right and follow the curved, concrete hallway. The front patio is very nice looking with a couple of tables, and a window that overlooks the bartenders. The place is small and intimate, and it's actually kind of amazing what they've done with the space. It's like a pearl inside an ugly oyster. Bartender Paul is an expert mixologist, and he also serves as excellent eye candy. Paul mixed me a Kir Royale, and it was my first experience with crème de cassis, if you can believe it. It won't be my last. So you won't find PBR or Lone Star here, or a place to plug in your amp and electric guitar to practice with the boys, and you very well might feel underdressed in torn jeans and a wife beater, but I'll wager you'll still have a good time here. Winner gets your beat-up '70s lawn chairs and mini fridge. read more

Garage is definitely one of my favorite bars in Austin! They have a spectacular cocktail list and a cool concept. If you have never been the place is a little tricky to find. It's hidden inside a parking garage ... hence the name. Look for the green sign that says garage and you are in the right place. The owner of the bar previously bar tended at a couple of different spots on the east side. That is where I originally fell in love with his inventive, delicious cocktails. When I first learned about his new venture I couldn't wait to experience it! I have been here a handful of times since then and have never been disappointed. Everything I have had here has been amazing. The Indian Paintbrush cocktail is award winning and a popular favorite. I also loved The Girl with the Green Eyes cocktail. The menu changes up and they offer seasonal drinks as well. I had the best hot toddy I've ever had here! If you are looking for an intimate, chic setting to chill and converse this is your place. Just a heads up the drinks are on the pricey end, but they are worth every penny! read more

Love the atmosphere and concept of this bar. It's located in the parking garage and was previously a valet office. Such an awesome history! The cocktail menu follows the garage theme with vintage (classic cocktails), refurbished (their spins on classics), custom (their creations). I told the bartender what I liked and asked him to make me something but I didn't really enjoy it, my husband liked his cocktail. I would go back and give it another chance because it's a cool spot and a great atmosphere. read more

Third try is a charm! I attempted three times to enjoy a cocktail at Garage. They have little information posted via their website. I finally asked a parking garage attendant for the business hours and days of operation. We followed the blue beckoning light, walked into to a dim lit room and found ourselves a cozy area to sit. I had my heart set on the Kir Royal based on other reviews. It wasn't listed on the cocktail menus we were provided but they made me one anyway. Both the old fashion and Kir Royal were strong and well worth the price! What really sets the mood besides it is slightly tucked away in a parking garage is the the music. Staff switches out vinyl of their choice in between slinging drinks which gives it an intimate feel. read more

Of all the speakeasy style bars in town, this is one of my favorites! Easy to find but still is ~fun~ to go as you walk through the parking garage in search for their neon sign. The inside is dark and not super spacious but was not overly crowded when I went. There's a reason why the Indian Paintbrush was the 2015 drink of Austin - refreshing with a unique taste! It's also on the happy hour menu for additional savings if you are in the area between 5-7 pm. A great place for a date or catching up with friends. Service is great as I would expect nothing less of a place with this high of acclaim and popularity. They did not let the fame get to their heads! read more

Hard to describe. Hidden. Loud. Dark. Speakeasyish. Stumbled in busy Thurs night before ACL. Walking on way back to hotel from Handlebar, spotted it in walking down Colorado . . . and remembered reading yelp. Good looking crowd of 30s/40s with decent jobs. Yes indeed, these are quality cocktails with quality ingredients, at a price. The drinks are on the smallish size. But most of the classy ones (martinis, manhattens and the like) are. Corpse reviver packed plenty of wallop notwithstanding its size. The modified dark manhatten was smooth and satisfying. Had a snafu with the waitress order, which was cheerily offered as a comp. Would return when in the area. read more

You know how everyone is always looking to find that 'secret-nobody knows it but us-cool-fun-interesting-intimate' bar? Well, I think that I've found the newest addition to that scene in Austin & I want to share this place with all of you fine people. Hidden in the parking garage of the building on Colorado between 5th & 6th street, Garage Bar is a quiet oasis in the middle of Downtown Austin. This bar was transformed into a quaint, hip spot that used to be the valet station of the parking garage, so the layout and original ceilings give it a cool vibe. Definitely hard to find because there is only the words 'garage' painted on the front and once you get inside the garage, you'll see the fluorescent sign that reads 'cocktails'. Just like every other specialty cocktail bar in town, the drinks are on the pricey side but they're made with quality ingredients & care which makes a difference. I had a Moscow Mule (was on a kick after stopping by Hangar down the street) and loved it! Connor, one of the owner's, was super friendly and welcoming, explaining to us how they came about opening this place & what they are hoping to become. I did find out that they have a happy hour from 5-7pm with beer & wine specials along with $6 cocktails - so I'll definitely try to stop in for that. Welcome to the neighborhood, Garage - so glad you're here!!! read more

Favorite new cocktail bar in Austin. And I don't throw that term around lightly. Tucked inside a parking garage on 5th and Colorado, Garage is cool, dark, intimate, unpretentious, and amazing. I came in around 6 on a drizzly, slightly colder evening by Austin terms for a good read and a cocktail. They have a limited selection of classic beverages on their happy hour menu but I decided to try out the Scofflaw with rye, dry vermouth, blueberry grenadine, and bitters. It was a nice balance of bitter and sweet- a good first drink for the evening. What really struck me about Garage was the service. The bartenders and waitress were very friendly and gave me samples of cocktails they were creating for their fall menu and asked for my feedback. It's like a dream come true for me- free well-crafted drinks AND I get to feel important by giving my amateur mixologist opinion?! I will definitely be back to try their drinks once they roll out the menu. I probably looked like I was quadruple fisting it because I had various glasses around me! The waitress also recommended that I try the Final Word, which is like the Last Word but using rye in place of gin. It too was delicious, particularly if you like Chartreuse. It's always wonderful finding a place that can make drink recommendations truly catered to your palate. There are so many positives about Garage from its ambiance to the lovely drinks to the customer service. I will be back many times in the future. read more

It's kind of like a speakeasy in that you would have no idea where to look for the bar in this parking garage deck. It's hidden in plain sight; there's a sign that says "cocktails" where the entrance is -- just keep walking down towards the dark double doors, and that will lead to the bar.
