We went to Gami burger the Friday after they opened for lunch. It was busy, but the wait wasn't too crazy. Food: the burger was pretty good. The sauce that comes on it is a little spicy with a kick, which I really enjoy. I got the curly fries and they were terrible. Like worse than Jack in the Box. I had to throw them away. Way too salty. My husband got a burger too and waffle fries and liked them. My son got a grilled cheese and shoe string fries. He didn't eat much of the sandwich, but that isn't saying much because he's 4 and that's typical. Also, I don't drink beer much at all, but I found it odd that they don't offer even 1 local beer. Everything is from somewhere else. I would love to see more local brews featured. Ambiance: I like what they have done to spruce up the restaurant. It's nice. I am very sad they got rid of the kid friendly outdoor space. That was literally the reason the majority of people who frequented that establishment at the business prior went. They had one tiny golf putt putt thing in the back with some wide open space. Not sure if they are planning to do anything with that space, but there used to be trucks and stuff outside kids could play with. Without that, I don't think I would frequent the restaurant as much. It was nice to be able to eat in peace while your kid played even if the food was so so. It was something that would keep us coming back. Without that, even with better food, the draw just isn't there. There aren't many kid friendly places in this part of town. So I was really sad to see they didn't keep that as it was what was so special about Willie's. Would have been nice for them to take that into consideration while remodeling the outdoor space. Price: I thought it was fair. $13 for the double burger and your choice of fries. $9 for kid's grilled cheese and fries. I don't know why they are charging 8.75% tax though when the tax rate in Carmichael is 7.75%. Their CPA might have a field day with that sometime haha. Customer service: everyone that worked there that we interacted with was nice and friendly. Food came rather quickly for how busy it was. Unrelated to the establishment, but it added to my experience. The guy behind me in line cut and somehow ordered before me. I didn't say anything to him because it was so busy, but that didn't make my experience any more pleasurable. Overall a solid 4/5. They still have some kinks to work out like the gross fries. And I really wish it still had the family friendly vibe it had before. I probably won't go as much due to that, even if the food is a little bit better. read more

Wanted to get in on the hype and check this place out, was not disappointed! Got a double gami with bacon and sweet potato fries. The burger is perfect, there's a slight soy sauce flavor going on somewhere that gives it an extra something combined with some really nice not too vinegary but just right pickles. The sweet potato fries were awesome, had almost like a slight cinnamon taste maybe? Just worked really well. The only think I can see being an issue is parking is a bit tight, but I believe taking stars away from a business' rating for stuff like that is lame brain behavior. Can't wait to come back! I ordered a children's cheeseburger for 9$! The burger slightly bland and totally not worth the price. I also purchased waffle fries for 5$ which was more reasonable. When trying the fries I was met with an explosion of seasonings and not in a good way. They were over seasoned and tasted like a not so sweet churro. The game sauce tasted a little fishery, literally and in my opinion was a thousand island sauce gone wrong. The service was good with polite and well mannered staff. I placed a pick-up order and was pleasantly surprised at how quickly it was ready. The food was delicious, and the customer service was excellent! When I walked in looking a little lost, one of the team members immediately asked if I had a pick-up order and even knew my order by name. While my fries were still cooking, another team member kindly directed me to the water bar and a spot by the window. She offered me some fruit-infused water while I waited--a refreshing treat! True to her word, she later brought my food right to the table and made sure all of the sauces we had ordered on the side were included. Our favorite burger spot in Sac! The staff is incredibly friendly and kind. We also love that there are the arcade games - makes it easy for one of us to eat while the other entertains our 3 year old. Speaking of whom, she loves the PBJ or grilled cheese on milk bread (and I love sneaking bites because the bread is soooo good). And don't sleep on the chopped salad! Tried Gami Burger twice now and it did not disappoint. We're already big fans of their sister spot, Origami, so expectations were high and they totally delivered. Ordered a Gammy burger and waffle fries half hour before they closed. The food was awful. I had to throw away the fries as they were nothing but crispy and cut my gums! It's like they sat out for an hour and then we're dropped in the oil again. Literally inedible. Burger seemed thrown together and not tasty. Maybe I'm spoiled with their predecessor. Absolutely unacceptable that they would allow that poor quality out the door after only being open for so little time. Poor management! The employees should care and not allow that to happen. Fantastic. 10/10. The burgers are excellent and all fry selections are unique and delicious. The non-burger sandwiches are also amazing. Ahi and chicken are some of the best I have ever had. Staff is great and ambience is amazing. Parking can be tight, but the quick response for taking out makes up for it. Visited Gami today for the first time. I had the chopped salad with Chicken (I wish they offered it with burger patties as protein) and let me tell you it was one of the top 5 best salads I have ever had. It was loaded, lots of great fresh ingredients, mixed really well and a solid meal. Please don't ever change it (well except for the beef option, lol). My buddy had the double burger with bacon and that looked great also, it's what I'll try next time. All in all, a great overall experience. If I had to make one recommendation I'd say when the line is 15 deep maybe consider 2 cashiers to move things along. Go see them you'll have a great casual dining experience. read more

I chose 1 star because negative is not an option. Being a new establishment in my neighborhood I thought we would give it a try. Parking is limited as it was when it was Willy's. As my daughter and I walked up we were greeted at the door by an employee. We didn't even get to step inside as the employee said to us, " Just to let you know we are out of food and will be closing". So we left and went elsewhere. From what I've read the owners are not new to the restaurant business. How do you open a food establishment and run out of food by 4:20 pm? I am all about supporting local business but will not be going back to Gami. Wish them well. read more

Keep in mind for my review it was super busy, line wrapped around the inside of the building. ( and the food was still absolutely spectacular!) My family went here today and we tried everything. I personally only tried the gami burger/ sides but I'll put everyone's review on here as well. We got a pastrami sandwich which everyone agreed was amazing. The burgers were all good, tasted great but a little too rare for our taste. However it was super busy so I'm assuming this is why, they were slammed. The presentation was awesome. The inside of the place was very neat and clean. Sides: shoe string fries were good basic fries. Curly fries were seasoned great, crispy, and my favorite of the fries. Sweet potato fries were also fantastic. The waffle fries were a little stale tasting however again, super busy and this is their grand opening. Onion rings were absolutely phenomenal. Overall I would say we're 100% coming back, and the food was spectacular. Can't wait to try some of their shakes/ other food! read more

I have eaten a double Gami burger with waffle fries...i agree that the fries were overcooked and salty but i enjoyed the burger the first time... I had attempted to order on line but did not hit the pay button the first time....I arrived 15 minutes after the order was to be ready when i was first informed that they did not have an order for me. So, in front of the owner who was "showing (me) my error," I re-ordered right in front of him. I let the owner know that i would be waiting on the outside bench. I sat waiting over 20 minutes when i asked if my order was ready again..that's when the apparent owner said they did not even have my ticket...again. I showed my phone to the owner which showed the receipt for my order and the time of 1:04 pm but he stated, once again, that they still did not have my order (after another 10-15 minutes wait, totaling now over 40 minutes wait). Frustrated by the website and circumstances i blurted out that "i'm just trying to order a fucking burger." I then re-ordered successfully a second time. The owner, refusing to look at the now TWO separate CHARGES with the second order to be ready at "1:10 pm." THE DOUBLE GAMI BURGER: BURNT cheese, BURNT patties, BURNT bun, NO pickles, NO sauce, NO onions etc. etc. DISGUSTING representation of what they claim to provide you..My over-cooked, burnt burger with abnormally salty and overcooked waffle fries (which also DRIPPED with GREASE), like the numerous bad reviews before, had only one green tomato (not even on the bun which was also burnt on inside and out) and a way oversized chunk of iceberg lettuce. And, as my numerous neighbors agree, it is so DISAPPOINTING that GAMI BURGER and their DILLITANTE owner and staff think that it's ok to VERBALLY ASUALT A CUSTOMER frustrated by the numerous fails of their website, after patiently waiting now over 45 minutes (and the owner knew i was waiting) and now having to re-order a third attempt. I empathize they are very busy and they've just opened this new location so I imagine there are bugs to work out (I come from a family of restaurateurs) but MULTIPLE RUNNING OUT OF FOOD, BURNT PRODUCTS, WEB-SITE DEAD ENDS AND FALSE or ERRONEOUS LINKS and the pleasant experience of the OWNER and STAFF speaking CONDESCENDINGLY to me without a willingness to look at the "facts" regarding my 2 orders that were made. Instead, they decided that my use of the word "FUCK" stating that I was frustrated in my numerous attempts to order a burger, their consistent lack of keep me addressed, their web-site failures... justifies them being RUDE CONDESCENDING, and , obviously, off subject...clearly, the OWNER IS TOO IMMATURE and apparently (control issues and all) incapable of humbling himself to an apology. I walked away to end the argument and when my piece of BURNT BURGER and OVERCOOKED, SALTY FRIES were finally ready (over 50 minutes of waiting) the owner then took it upon himself to lecture me on being "sorry YOU don't know how to use a website...no one else ever has and we've received countless on line orders." Well, mr owner, have you been reading any of the reviews??? In total agreement with my numerous neighbors directly in the neighborhood, I am VERY DISAPPOINTED with this burger place...I think the service for take-out can be overlooked but the off the scales RUDENESS of the OWNER and YOUNG and again, IMMATURE STAFF will be hard for me to overlook. TV: And, to boot, the owner has a very large tv screen airing the ultra-violent sport of CAGE FIGHTING...personally, i don't find myself to be overly conservative nor judgmental but, i noticed countless young children in the restaurant while the violent airing of the sport was playing on the owners big-screen tv. We are very happy that Gami Burger has opened in the neighborhood! We absolutely love Origami in East Sac and couldn't wait to experience their new concept. We've been three times since they opened and everything on the menu is delicious. Highly recommend the the classic double burger with lettuce, tomatoe and grilled onions. Pro tip - you can add any protein to the salads, the mixed baby greens salad with dark meat crispy chicken is a 12/10! The staff is also very nice and attentive. The first experience has exceeded my expectations!! Gami Burger is becoming one of my favorite places for a great burger!! I ordered a double gami with mushrooms, bacon and avocado, I loved the result; I completely forgot to add a fried egg, but my next stop I will. Good service, they let you eat, it's not like in other places that come to your table many times to ask while you eat. Even though they are busy, they don't rush you so that others can eat.
