This review is only on my dining experience, I did not participate in any games. You guys really need to work on your chicken fryer. I've had jerky more tender than the "chicken tenders" or the "4$ added chicken to the nachos". But if I want dry and hard to chew chicken, you'll be the first place I consider. My husband was itching to play some arcade games so I went on Groupon and bought us two passes. We had read a lot of the negative reviews, so we didn't have the highest expectations but we figured it would be fun to go shoot some zombies and play some racing games. I should preface this all by saying that I'm not a gamer and don't need super complex or new games to be wholly entertained and in the interest of full disclosure- we DID go in the peak of Seattle's Coronavirus panic. The place was virtually dead (and we loved it). Perhaps this is also why the place was super clean? I read a lot of reviews about how "disgusting" and "filthy" it is which was not our experience. Also, when you go to a place where the demographic is largely kids and adults who are drinking- give the staff a little slack. Kids/drunk people are sticky gross tornados of soda/beer! There's only so much you can do to stay on top of things (case and point, a dude on a date sat a bag of food down on barstool next to me, was too drunk to notice it immediately fell off and splashed ranch all over the floor and then tried to blame me for it. Bruh, your date was not impressed, lolz). We were expecting to play for just a couple hours but wound up staying for four and would have stayed longer if I hadn't hit my beer-without-a-sensible-meal-threshold. I supplemented with an order of fries which was tiny but whatevz. It was enough to keep me going for another hour or so. I read the food is super overpriced and not great, but it's a corporate Arcade guys- what do you want? I also read a lot of criticisms about the staff- personally I thought they were great. I only interacted with 4 people and 3 of them were super friendly and helpful. The 4th one was fine, she sold us our passes. Not particularly friendly but maybe she was having a bad day. Our bartender was really nice and attentive. We are definitely coming back. The only criticism i have is that the bathrooms could stand an upgrade-- this place looks like it has a massive capacity and the bathrooms were a little on the old, small and icky side. read more

Not too crowded on a Saturday night and didn't have to wait for games. Don't open a tab at the bar though! I opened a tab and when I went to close the tab at 10:40 (they close at 11 on Saturdays) the bartender had already closed out my bill and added 18% for a left card... when I pointed out the place wasn't closing for 20 minutes she didn't say anything. Their loss because I would normally tip at least 25% at the bar but I tipped nothing on top of what they charged and left. I won't be back. I have been to Gameworks many times in the past and have had a good time. Over the years the restaurant has been getting worse and worse. Tonight was it, I won't be back. The service was extremely slow. They don't service food upstairs so you have to get a table downstairs. you can take your food upstairs up after you have sat down, ordered and waited 45 minutes for food. and hour and a half has gone by so you might as well stay downstairs. it took a long time for them to take our drink orders, long time to take dinner order and when the food came they didn't bring forks, napkins... I had to ask and that took a long time. This place is fun to play games and meet people but if you are going to order drinks or eat, skip it and go to other game and food venues. read more

The menu at the Gameworks restaurant has changed for the better. Their sections are a lot more mature and pro-foodie. It is a decent spot to chill and relax with friends or to wait for your kids as they play in the game room. The beer selection is very good and reasonably priced. First of all, I had my coat (with my phone and game card) STOLEN from the arcade while I was playing a game of air hockey. The must have people wandering the arcade looking for people who are distracted to steal their stuff. It's a big ruse...someone apparently "bought" my phone for $75 about an hour after it was stolen and offered to bring it back. We gave them that much plus some just so that I didn't have to buy a new phone, but I'm almost certain it was the person who stole it or was working with them. Second, as for the restaurant, it was the worst service I've received in my life. Our waitress spilled beer all over the table and said she'd wipe it up...never came back to do so. I ordered a chicken salad and she forgot to put the order in. She did give us a gift card to make up for it, but that would mean I'd have to go again. Finally after all this, when she came to clear the table, I asked for a box. She came back to the table with the check but without the box. The next time she came back to get the check we asked for a box again. Said sure again and left. She kept walking to all the other tables around us, and didn't bring the box. My boyfriend eventually had to go to the bar to get us a box and we left. The food was meh. The service was awful. I had my stuff stolen, and only got to play two games before my card was stolen. I'm done with this place. I've been here countless times and it's just getting worse and worse. The service is slow as can be- it took 20 minutes to get a water. 1 hour for food. The bathrooms are about as good as a port a potty, reek of absolute shit because they have to keep the doors locked so junkies don't go in and shoot up- no soap in the dispensers, sticky floors. Half of the games are out of order. Plan for waits for EVERYTHING IMAGINABLE. Granted it's a Saturday- but come ON. CLEAN the bathrooms. Brought my 29yr old son & his wife for a Saturday game day, we had a drink & lunch then off to play, 2hrs later my daughter in law & i sat in the bar for another drink only to watch a red headed waitress dive straws into both our drinks and sample them, not once, not twice but several times and chat with another co-worker while our whiskey drinks were literally being drank straw full at a time by this stranger. Just before the now 2oz less each drinks were brought to us the red haired waitress tells the bar tender, "hey these are good" I've never been so upset at a bar in my life. If you have a free night in Downtown Seattle, see if there's a Groupon for Gameworks! We bought the voucher as we walked into the door and got our two gaming cards, one for the unlimited games and one for the ticketed games. There was a decent variety of games, so we were able to spend at least two solid hours playing. Lots of shooter games, air hockey, basketball, skeeball- it was as good as Chuck E Cheese back in the day! We also stopped by the bar for some pre-game adult beverages, which were a bit pricey, and to catch the last quarter of the playoff game. We didn't get food there because nothing seemed too healthy on the menu, so we went to a nearby restaurant and came back for more games and to redeem our tickets. I love the concept of GameWorks, and I think I remember it being a nicer establishment when I went in many years ago... Now it's just filthy, the service in the grille is insanely slow (we had to hunt down a server and place orders even though we weren't in his section), the pizza was awful, the bathrooms are as disgusting as a truck stop, at least a third of the games weren't working and we didn't realize until after we attempted to play them. Driving type of games: the steering was completely locked and not functioning, another driving game timed out while we tried to make our selections... Made the mistake of buying a pass on Groupon that was for the "arcade games only"... didn't realize this was maybe only 1/4 of the games there as the rest were the "ticket" games. Overall, just not a great experience. The kids loved it but we would have had just as good of a time at Chucky Cheeses or the like. I will say the beer selection in the bar was the best part. My kids and I have never been here before. I didn't tell them where we were going and waited to see their reaction when we went through the door. When they saw the games and lights - they were in kid-heaven... until they didn't find games they liked. They mostly played Pacman and Frogger and some air hockey because there wasn't anything else that appealed to them. Pretty good amount of games but most games has only one of a certain type. It was expensive but the kids liked it. When you add up the parking garage price and GameWorks admission you can expect to pay a couple hundred dollars for a few hours with the family. Food wasn't good but I suppose that isn't why people come here. For the price, I will probably take the kids to Family Fun Center next time.... read more

We were seated upstairs and the server who introduced herself to us disappeared (and never reappeared) when we asked about the happy hour menu, so another server eventually took her place and we waited a while for the plate of nachos to split. This place didn't hit anywhere near top marks for us in terms of food quality or good service, but they had a good selection of games downstairs and it's at least quite clean. read more

I remember when Gamewerks opened- it was a clean place with great games. Not anymore- what a dump! Our jackets were stolen from our feet while we gamed- including my 8-year olds new coat! It's hard to believe, but this place has been open almost 20 years, and frankly, it shows. I remember it opened with a ton of promise and then fell on hard times as it became more popular to play video games at home/online, and now on your phones. Over the years to try and stay fresh Gameworks keeps adding different "concepts" which gives Gameworks no real identity. There's a sports bar/restaurant downstairs, then a mish-mash of arcade games strewn about over 2 levels, then there's the ticket games, and then now an e-Sports area (where people play networked PC games). That said, we had my son's 10th birthday party here, and for him I can't complain at all. We had a nice little party room, some kid-friendly food and snacks for an hour, and then the 10 kids got game cards that covered 2 hours of unlimited video game play. The 9 and 10 year olds certainly enjoyed it and the noise and crowds and disorganized (to me) layout didn't seem to bother them one bit. Maybe I'm just not the target audience anymore, but outside of taking kids here (not a cheap proposition given the cost of game play) I don't know why I'd go back. read more

The one time this year I got a babysitter was to come here for my birthday present. Considering how expensive it can be to go out and have a babysitter for two kids. I was so excited. But the bartenders ruined it for me the lady with the glasses and brown hair is one of the rudest human beings I have ever met. I'm a former bartender, waitress, and cocktail waitress, and I'm very tolerant and patient but I have never been treated this poorly. We left game works without eating like we planned or using our game cards. Today when I originally arrive at Gameworks, Phil is my bartender in which he provided a clear description of their menu. Phil provided a clear description of the hot wings and explained the opportunity in which the hot wings can be hotter and how to request of them. At which point I requested hot wings hotter and Phil was able to substantially provide hot wings that exceeded their current menu. At this point I was introduced to Tiffany, the bartender running the bar with a smile. Tiffany was able to introduce me to Elysian space a local IPA of Seattle, WA. Tiffany provides a wide array of support on local craft beer as well as the menu for Gameworks. Also, she is very popular with the locals based on her charisma and stunning good looks. As a visitor to Seattle, I felt like a local all night and I give credit to be staff, especially Tiffany. read more

We waited patiently at a table after I had flagged someone down who told us to seat ourselves. We moved to the bar after no luck. All bartenders and the manager continued to ignore us as I clearly tried to get their attention with an "excuse me, excuse me." Spoke with one of the staff asking about where to park and the staff said parking is FREE when we were getting ready to leave it go up to to staff member and ask her how the parking works and staff said I made a mistake I thought it was FREE and ended up paying for parking...... My fiance and I came here for a place to eat without spending too much money while we were here for sakura con. The server we had was great, but the food was the problem. We ordered a pizza and some nachos. Originally I had called ahead asking what size the pizza was and they said it was 16 inch for about 10 to 15 dollars but due to sakura con they were serving a pizza that was around 7in x 12in (rectangular pizza). We were excited until we got our food. The meat lovers pizza was a little 4in x 7in, hardly enough to split between 2 people, and the nachos were 12 dollars for a ton of chips with a little cheese and a couple small jalapeno slices. Not really worth it on the food half for either price or portion. The gaming half of it reminds me of a small dave and busters and also had a pc/console gaming area upstairs. This part was the only reason I am giving it more than one star. That half was a pretty cool place for a little family fun. read more

Having said that, the only thing I liked was the chicken wings. Chicken tenders was dry, chips were not crispy, and worst of all, everything was cold. Discovered this place on a Sunday movie date with my bf. GameWorks is conveniently located next to the Regal Meridian so we were able to come right after finishing a movie next door. It's a fun and affordable way to extend your date night stopping by here. They have air hockey tables, basketball machines, DDR, and just your typical Dave and Buster's style of games (does anyone know what that is in Seattle?). They have prizes that can be redeemed in exchange for tickets. I wish that the basketball machines here gave out tickets. I was bummed to discover that they didn't give out any so we left the place with 0 tickets but we still had a lot of fun. Also, don't throw away your gaming card because you will have to pay a small fee for a brand new one. You can just keep it and reload every time you run out of credits. read more

Gameworks is pretty much like a Dave and Buster's. 20 bucks got me all you can play games within 3 hours, but I think this pricing is only eligible Monday through Fridays. The bar was pretty crowded, and it took a while to get a drink. The games here were pretty fun, except the fact that most machines were sticky (...from drinks). My friend and I took her son of 5 to gameworks today. Unfortunately, as we were walking in the door a man (completely out of his mind) basically pummeled right through us! The staff was already in the midst of removing him from the premises and were so kind and apologetic. They immediately made sure we were ok and comped all of our food, drink and game cards which was totally unnecessary but very appreciated! We were visiting from out of town. The service was mediocre. The waitress changed after our first 15 minutes there. Our order was incorrect and they kept trying to give us other tables' food at least twice. The food was typical Happy Hour food that you'd expect; nothing fancy. None of the staff seemed like they wanted to be there (including the managers) which set the vibe for the whole place. My glass of wine was served in a whiskey glass...and to top it off, I found a hair and some other mysterious flakes of something in my wine. Have you ever heard of a clean arcade? Yeah... me neither. So this place is OK. Considering it encourages a 21+ crowd for late night gaming, it's pretty cool. During the day it's also great to take kids when the crowd is more diverse. In all (maybe 3 times?) I've been - I've rarely seen more than one game that was out of order. Lines for certain games are short as well. I'm not really a big gamer either but there's always a game or two I enjoy playing. If I end up sitting and watching someone play games, which is mostly what I do here, there are plenty of stools and tables where I can take a seat while I wait. So, I just went to game works today, just to grab a quick drink. And to our surprise, we saw a MOUSE. The manager tried to find it and couldn't so he said he would close the front door. No apology, nothing. We asked for our checks. Three times. Our server aimlessly wandered around and came to remove our plates, without checks. He finally gave us our checks. I'm not extremely upset about the mouse, shit happens, but the way the manager handled it was not what I would expect in an establishment that should be about customer service. He didn't ask if we were okay or anything. My friend didn't want to pay for his tab and I felt that at that point the manager should have showed some concern. I don't understand how anyone stays in here for more than an hour. It was so hot and uncomfortable. It almost seemed like a hazard. We paid $18 for 2 of the weakest Moscow Mules I've ever had. I used to go here frequent before I found Round 1, but it's still nice to have an excuse to visit Downtown Seattle once every while. I usually only make my way here on Thursday nights when they have their unlimited game play for $10, it's $2 extra if you need a card to get started with or lost your card which ugh is always my case. Gameworks is pretty huge with 2 floors of games and a bar area where you can order drinks and food. I think you can also walk around with a drink in your hand. The $10 unlimited play doesn't work on ticketed games though, but it makes sense. Ain't nobody going to give you unlimited free tickets to win prizes right?
