Temper your expectations for Gameworks. It's a worn down downtown arcade that has 2 floors of a combination of arcade and ticketed games. Many of the games had ripped seat cushions, worn handles, or not even turned on. I will admit there were some pretty cool motion arcade games where you felt like you were in a moving car or off roading in a Hummer. Many families were in there and it seems like a decent place to bring children on a rainy afternoon, or host a child's birthday party. We purchased a Groupon which gave us an all day game pass plus $20 to use towards ticketed games. We didn't try any of the food or drinks, but they do have a bar for those who are interested. Although there are many signs that alcohol isn't allowed on the game floor, so unfortunately you can't drink and game. read more

The menu at the Gameworks restaurant has changed for the better. Their sections are a lot more mature and pro-foodie. It is a decent spot to chill and relax with friends or to wait for your kids as they play in the game room. The beer selection is very good and reasonably priced. Important info! For those whom aren't aware, Gameworks Seattle, WA is the last existing Gameworks location currently, this location specifically was bought out by an independent contractor after all locations shut down during covid. The store's website is Not updated because they don't have any access to it, for up to date info follow their Facebook page. The employees are hard working, kind, and family friendly, they're very informative, and anytime there's been an issue they've been helpful with resolving it. I recommend this place for a good time to hangout with family or go out on a fun date, the staff is very friendly and helpful so never hesitate to ask if there's anything wrong. Friendly reminder this is Seattle so please Please hang onto your belongings Do Not leave your cell phone or wallet left on a table/machine it could get lost or stolen! Also tickets automatically go right onto the game cards instead of wasting paper and if you keep your cards for the next time you go it'll save you the $2 activation fee per new card and if you keep your receipt they can replace the cards for you even if it's an old card. This review is of the arcade only. Decent size, a bit old though. Had to stop here as we don't have anything like this where I'm from. Thought it was odd you have to have a bathroom code to use the bathroom and that it is kept locked. Very dated bathroom but large area to change baby diaper (not on the actual changer as it was in such an awkward spot). Also when getting a new card and trying to load it with $$ the machine wouldn't take our cash. So I went in line and had the employee do it for me and she said it breaks once a week. Games were fun for my husband and son and I must've looked bored following them around with my baby so the manager stopped by twice and used a card to load credits on several games for me that I was sitting next to. So 4 stars for that- such a nice guy! Didn't have time to try the restaurant side but we might next time we're in town. Definitely will be back with my husband and son to play again. read more

This review is only on my dining experience, I did not participate in any games. You guys really need to work on your chicken fryer. I've had jerky more tender than the "chicken tenders" or the "4$ added chicken to the nachos". But if I want dry and hard to chew chicken, you'll be the first place I consider. My husband was itching to play some arcade games so I went on Groupon and bought us two passes. We had read a lot of the negative reviews, so we didn't have the highest expectations but we figured it would be fun to go shoot some zombies and play some racing games. I should preface this all by saying that I'm not a gamer and don't need super complex or new games to be wholly entertained and in the interest of full disclosure- we DID go in the peak of Seattle's Coronavirus panic. The place was virtually dead (and we loved it). Perhaps this is also why the place was super clean? I read a lot of reviews about how "disgusting" and "filthy" it is which was not our experience. Also, when you go to a place where the demographic is largely kids and adults who are drinking- give the staff a little slack. Kids/drunk people are sticky gross tornados of soda/beer! There's only so much you can do to stay on top of things (case and point, a dude on a date sat a bag of food down on barstool next to me, was too drunk to notice it immediately fell off and splashed ranch all over the floor and then tried to blame me for it. Bruh, your date was not impressed, lolz). We were expecting to play for just a couple hours but wound up staying for four and would have stayed longer if I hadn't hit my beer-without-a-sensible-meal-threshold. I supplemented with an order of fries which was tiny but whatevz. It was enough to keep me going for another hour or so. I read the food is super overpriced and not great, but it's a corporate Arcade guys- what do you want? I also read a lot of criticisms about the staff- personally I thought they were great. I only interacted with 4 people and 3 of them were super friendly and helpful. The 4th one was fine, she sold us our passes. Not particularly friendly but maybe she was having a bad day. Our bartender was really nice and attentive. We are definitely coming back. The only criticism i have is that the bathrooms could stand an upgrade-- this place looks like it has a massive capacity and the bathrooms were a little on the old, small and icky side. read more

Not too crowded on a Saturday night and didn't have to wait for games. Don't open a tab at the bar though! I opened a tab and when I went to close the tab at 10:40 (they close at 11 on Saturdays) the bartender had already closed out my bill and added 18% for a left card... when I pointed out the place wasn't closing for 20 minutes she didn't say anything. Their loss because I would normally tip at least 25% at the bar but I tipped nothing on top of what they charged and left. I won't be back. I have been to Gameworks many times in the past and have had a good time. Over the years the restaurant has been getting worse and worse. Tonight was it, I won't be back. The service was extremely slow. They don't service food upstairs so you have to get a table downstairs. you can take your food upstairs up after you have sat down, ordered and waited 45 minutes for food. and hour and a half has gone by so you might as well stay downstairs. it took a long time for them to take our drink orders, long time to take dinner order and when the food came they didn't bring forks, napkins... I had to ask and that took a long time. This place is fun to play games and meet people but if you are going to order drinks or eat, skip it and go to other game and food venues. read more

First of all, I had my coat (with my phone and game card) STOLEN from the arcade while I was playing a game of air hockey. The must have people wandering the arcade looking for people who are distracted to steal their stuff. It's a big ruse...someone apparently "bought" my phone for $75 about an hour after it was stolen and offered to bring it back. We gave them that much plus some just so that I didn't have to buy a new phone, but I'm almost certain it was the person who stole it or was working with them. Second, as for the restaurant, it was the worst service I've received in my life. Our waitress spilled beer all over the table and said she'd wipe it up...never came back to do so. I ordered a chicken salad and she forgot to put the order in. She did give us a gift card to make up for it, but that would mean I'd have to go again. Finally after all this, when she came to clear the table, I asked for a box. She came back to the table with the check but without the box. The next time she came back to get the check we asked for a box again. Said sure again and left. She kept walking to all the other tables around us, and didn't bring the box. My boyfriend eventually had to go to the bar to get us a box and we left. The food was meh. The service was awful. I had my stuff stolen, and only got to play two games before my card was stolen. The bathrooms are about as good as a port a potty, reek of absolute shit because they have to keep the doors locked so junkies don't go in and shoot up- no soap in the dispensers, sticky floors. Half of the games are out of order. Plan for waits for EVERYTHING IMAGINABLE. Granted it's a Saturday- but come ON. CLEAN the bathrooms. Brought my 29yr old son & his wife for a Saturday game day, we had a drink & lunch then off to play, 2hrs later my daughter in law & i sat in the bar for another drink only to watch a red headed waitress dive straws into both our drinks and sample them, not once, not twice but several times and chat with another co-worker while our whiskey drinks were literally being drank straw full at a time by this stranger. Just before the now 2oz less each drinks were brought to us the red haired waitress tells the bar tender, "hey these are good" I've never been so upset at a bar in my life. If you have a free night in Downtown Seattle, see if there's a Groupon for Gameworks! We bought the voucher as we walked into the door and got our two gaming cards, one for the unlimited games and one for the ticketed games. There was a decent variety of games, so we were able to spend at least two solid hours playing. Lots of shooter games, air hockey, basketball, skeeball- it was as good as Chuck E Cheese back in the day! We also stopped by the bar for some pre-game adult beverages, which were a bit pricey, and to catch the last quarter of the playoff game. We didn't get food there because nothing seemed too healthy on the menu, so we went to a nearby restaurant and came back for more games and to redeem our tickets. I love the concept of GameWorks, and I think I remember it being a nicer establishment when I went in many years ago... Now it's just filthy, the service in the grille is insanely slow (we had to hunt down a server and place orders even though we weren't in his section), the pizza was awful, the bathrooms are as disgusting as a truck stop, at least a third of the games weren't working and we didn't realize until after we attempted to play them. Driving type of games: the steering was completely locked and not functioning, another driving game timed out while we tried to make our selections... Made the mistake of buying a pass on Groupon that was for the "arcade games only"... didn't realize this was maybe only 1/4 of the games there as the rest were the "ticket" games. Overall, just not a great experience. The kids loved it but we would have had just as good of a time at Chucky Cheeses or the like. I will say the beer selection in the bar was the best part. My kids and I have never been here before. I didn't tell them where we were going and waited to see their reaction when we went through the door. When they saw the games and lights - they were in kid-heaven... until they didn't find games they liked. They mostly played Pacman and Frogger and some air hockey because there wasn't anything else that appealed to them. Pretty good amount of games but most games has only one of a certain type. It was expensive but the kids liked it. When you add up the parking garage price and GameWorks admission you can expect to pay a couple hundred dollars for a few hours with the family. We were seated upstairs and the server who introduced herself to us disappeared (and never reappeared) when we asked about the happy hour menu, so another server eventually took her place and we waited a while for the plate of nachos to split. The nachos ended up being okay, but nothing I'd ever crave or order again. This place didn't hit anywhere near top marks for us in terms of food quality or good service, but they had a good selection of games downstairs and it's at least quite clean. read more

It's hard to believe, but this place has been open almost 20 years, and frankly, it shows. I remember it opened with a ton of promise and then fell on hard times as it became more popular to play video games at home/online, and now on your phones. Over the years to try and stay fresh Gameworks keeps adding different "concepts" which gives Gameworks no real identity. There's a sports bar/restaurant downstairs, then a mish-mash of arcade games strewn about over 2 levels, then there's the ticket games, and then now an e-Sports area (where people play networked PC games). That said, we had my son's 10th birthday party here, and for him I can't complain at all. We had a nice little party room, some kid-friendly food and snacks for an hour, and then the 10 kids got game cards that covered 2 hours of unlimited video game play. The 9 and 10 year olds certainly enjoyed it and the noise and crowds and disorganized (to me) layout didn't seem to bother them one bit. Maybe I'm just not the target audience anymore, but outside of taking kids here (not a cheap proposition given the cost of game play) I don't know why I'd go back. read more

The one time this year I got a babysitter was to come here for my birthday present. Considering how expensive it can be to go out and have a babysitter for two kids. I was so excited. But the bartenders ruined it for me the lady with the glasses and brown hair is one of the rudest human beings I have ever met. I'm a former bartender, waitress, and cocktail waitress, and I'm very tolerant and patient but I have never been treated this poorly. Have you ever heard of a clean arcade? Yeah... me neither. So this place is OK. Considering it encourages a 21+ crowd for late night gaming, it's pretty cool. During the day it's also great to take kids when the crowd is more diverse. In all (maybe 3 times?) I've been - I've rarely seen more than one game that was out of order. Lines for certain games are short as well. I'm not really a big gamer either but there's always a game or two I enjoy playing. So, I just went to game works today, just to grab a quick drink. And to our surprise, we saw a MOUSE. The manager tried to find it and couldn't so he said he would close the front door. No apology, nothing. We asked for our checks. Three times. Our server aimlessly wandered around and came to remove our plates, without checks. He finally gave us our checks. I'm not extremely upset about the mouse, shit happens, but the way the manager handled it was not what I would expect in an establishment that should be about customer service. I don't understand how anyone stays in here for more than an hour. It was so hot and uncomfortable. It almost seemed like a hazard. We paid $18 for 2 of the weakest Moscow Mules I've ever had. I used to go here frequent before I found Round 1, but it's still nice to have an excuse to visit Downtown Seattle once every while. I usually only make my way here on Thursday nights when they have their unlimited game play for $10, it's $2 extra if you need a card to get started with or lost your card which ugh is always my case. Gameworks is pretty huge with 2 floors of games and a bar area where you can order drinks and food. I think you can also walk around with a drink in your hand. The $10 unlimited play doesn't work on ticketed games though, but it makes sense. Ain't nobody going to give you unlimited free tickets to win prizes right? We had soooooooooooooooooo much fun at Gameworks! We arrived around 7pm on a Thursday night, grabbed a few cocktails at the bar, and headed into the huge two story arcade... ready to get down. Lucky for us we got there just in time for their Thursday night 7pm - 12am, unlimited play for only $12 !!! So for $24 bucks we played every single video game, every virtual reality game, every air hockey, every racing game, every dance game, every pinball machine, every... you get the picture... for FIVE HOURS STRAIGHT!!! And I play hard too, I'm no novice when it comes to video games (thanks big brother)! Mix that with large amounts of alcohol, and you've got yourself an overly-competitive, shit talking, challenging you to everything and shoving it in your face when she wins, borderline evil, girl on your hands. It gets intense, I won't lie... not everyone can handle it. Hahahaha. It's not the first time my fiance has seen this side of me... Shall we dub her, Ms. Hyde perhaps? And somehow the next morning, he still loves me *sigh* Hahaha, no, it's all in fun... really. The bartender was a cool guy and made me many dirty martinis that night, and even woiuld give me a shot of extra olive juice on the side, in case he didn't make it "dirty" enough for me. This arcade does not give a crap about their customers. I was here 5 months ago, and I am still angry about how we were treated here. I came here during the big PAX convention -- at least one demographic you think an arcade would want to please. Food was bad, service was bad, but I would have overlooked that, because we came for the arcade. What really killed our night is the young woman who started making closing announcements AN HOUR AND A HALF prior to closing. The speakers were intentionally turned up really loud, and she would screech into the speakers every 5-15 minutes in a tone that could only be interpreted as GET THE HELL OUT. I couldn't believe it when the closing announcements got WORSE 30 minutes to close. They came on every five minutes, interrupting every game and conversation, and this person RANTED ON AND ON AND ON about how the Arcade was closing. We could not enjoy our time there because there were more closing announcement than music in the last hour. I am sorry that we spent our money, all 20+ of us, patronizing your business and keeping you employed. I AM SORRY that it was a personal inconvenience to do your job until closing, and you needed to remind us every few minutes about how much you wanted us to leave. I am sorry that you felt it was appropriate to treat us like shit when we had paid to be there. I am not against a business letting me know - GOD FORBID POLITELY - what their hours are and when they will close. But letting me know for an hour and a half, during business hours, that I have apparently overstayed my welcome is unacceptable. So thank you for ruining our experience. I will never come back and will discourage everyone at PAX from patronizing your business. You will get your wish with keeping our customers out of your business. read more

Why is everything sticky? Never mind, I really don't want to know. And an A for effort from the staff. Our Party Room was quickly dubbed the Sad Room - strangely shaped boxes with wrapping paper but no ribbons adorned the stained institutional green walls; the divider was so broken down we were almost invited to the lame-o looking party next door; and the "festive" Sonic tableware only emphasized how truly depressing the room really was - but the girls brought the fun and the staff were super helpful. Once the pizza and sodas were consumed and we tried to burn the place down with the sparklers on the cake the real fun began. Good thing the girls were all wearing their Birthday tiaras, it made spotting them amongst the sweaty sticky hoards of other people's kids that much easier. I remember when the concept of Gameworks was first introduced and how it was going to change what we think of a video game arcade forever. Well, that never really panned out like they wanted, but this place has managed to stay relevant through some major changes in the gaming industry. I recently spent a couple hours here with an unlimited day pass in my hand and was able to enjoy a wide variety of games from old school classics like Frogger to a high tech Hummer racing game that requires you to strap in so you don't go flying out of your chair. What was most surprising was how busy they were and what a diverse crowd there was enjoying all the same things I was. Groups of kids, families, couple on dates, and folks like me who were just there to play some games. Even though Gameworks has been around for a long time, they manage to keep the place looking clean and relatively new. There was a constant flow of employees walking around cleaning, helping, or delivering food. Honestly, I was pretty impressed with the overall experience and the only real drawback is a price tag that keeps this from being a regular destination. You will spend a lot of money here unless your intent is to play one game of Donkey Kong and bail although getting one of the various unlimited passes will allow you to have a great time without worrying how fast your Gameworks card will run out. read more

The manager didn't want me to call the cops (probably because he didn't want them to come here and make a scene). The punk then went to McDonalds and spent $.65 to check if my credit card was working. And then proceeded to Target and spent $1,300. This wasn't their first time stealing a purse. Here's the situation.....I had been in downtown Seattle for 6 days when the huge blizzard-like snow came in. The bf and I had planned to do a little site seeing for the 3-4 hours down time I had but were reluctant to go anywhere due to the freezing weather and our lack thereof proper attire. Because it was right across the street from our hotel and we were about to approach the happy hour mark! Granted, I've never been a GameWorks or Dave and Busters kind of gal. The extraneous lights and constant array of noise has always been sensory overload to me. But hey, it beats 31 degree weather. Once we were in, we grabbed drinks at the bar (drafts 1/2 off, which means my ginormous Viking size mug of Newcastle was only $5--YAY!) and loaded up a game card. Highlights: - Who knew I loved shooting games so much!!!! Primeval Hunt is my particular favorite! - They've got this Taiko Drumming game that was ridiculously fun and embarrassingly enough, killer on my arms - Cheap Drinks during Happy Hour Lowlights: - Games are rather pricey - The Potato Skins we ordered were no bueno---hard, not crunchy. - Skee Ball Machines. Out of 5, only 1 "worked". And I mean that lightly, only 3 of the 9 balls actually rolled out of the chute and they didn't even have a scoreboard. - Locating a staff member was like playing Hide and Seek. Lucky for me, I found that most of them were just scattered around playing video games. Would I come here again? This place is awful. Since they don't have Dave and Busters up here, I decided to come here with my family. I am so disappointed I did. The games were busted and old. They have Golden Tee 2004, and various outdated games. I went with my 5 yr old daughter, and the "kids section" games were awful. The venue itself has potential, as it was spatious and clean inside. I am just truly upset with the broken and old games they had. I will say this though, they have great prizes for not that many tickets. I didnt drink, so I'm not too sure on that aspect.
