HAPPY HOUR is everything here. Half price drinks, which are already reasonably priced, make this a great place to have a few. The games are really fun and the prizes kind of stink but what did you really expect? Everyone working here was really helpful. I even lost my player card like a dumbie and they were able to help me out. They had someone cleaning the bathrooms and machines quite frequently. I've never touched the food here so I can't comment on that, but I did have a margarita and it was quite good! read more

I was meeting some friends for an early mid-week dinner in Ybor City, and was able to skip out of work early that day. Since I had about an hour to kill, I wandered over to GameTime in Centro Ybor at the corner of 8th Avenue and 17th Street to blast the crap out of some aliens before dinner. GameTime is an arcade attraction filled with video games, multiplayer games, ride-simulators, and the opportunity to win tickets that can be cashed in for prizes. There's also a restaurant with a full bar inside, and in the evening this place gets crazy busy with teens and mouthy Ybor d-bag toads. But during the day this is serious geek Heaven for those of us who need to get in our shoot-em-up Terminator fix. GameTime is brightly-colored, noisy, and a heck of a lot of fun if you enjoy these type of arcade game places. I checked out various video games that let me take out my frustrations on aliens and zombies and a criminal who looked surprisingly like a former boss. It's the simple things in life that give me so much pleasure. :-) I wandered around the inside, looking over the place, and watching the people having fun, before settling in front of one of the video terminals with my official alien blaster weapon to gleefully mow down an army of blood-sucking reptiles. Die you scumbags!!!! Muhahahaha! Before too long it was time to walk over to the restaurant and meet my friends, so I handed my string of tickets to the guy next to me who was struggling to kill the aliens. After a quick fist-bump and nod of respect, the guy was back to blasting away with his gun with some new-found confidence. My work here is done! We had a lot of fun playing video games, winning tickets for prizes, competing in multiplayer pac man and in various carnival type games. I had won a gift certificate but it had expired. The manager, Aldon, told us they would be happy to honor it. We enjoyed ourselves a lot. The burgers were very good and meaty on a delicious toasted roll with excellent toppings. We will definitely be back. Bring your youthful energy and enjoy their specials. Some pretty good deals and a lot of entertainment and wholesome fun for the money. This review is based on the dinning experience. I was invited to this location for a birthday brunch. The party consisted of 13 people. It was a Sunday around noon, the restaurant was pretty much empty aside from one other table that looked like they had ate and had already moved on to the games- seemed like a kids birthday party. Now I know better than to expect a good brunch at an arcade but truthfully there was no reason (at all) for their food to be so bad! Our server was overwhelmed and no one stepped in to help her despite just standing around. The kitchen also looked overwhelmed with 2 chefs initially, a 3rd jumping in and a guy who was in a dress shirt (probably a manager) jumping into help. Lets start with my honeys drink, we saw a picture for a fancy bloody mary with bacon and shrimp (the works, etc.) we ordered one and confirmed with our waitress it would bring everything pictured. It did not. In fact 3 others ordered bloody marys afterwards and it got worst- they came with no ice- we had to ask for a cup of ice which didn't help it was like room temperature tomato soup. Third time has to be the charm right? No! Honey asked about the picture bloody mary (again) and this time were informed its an upgrade- he ordered it. This drink took forever to come- turns out they had to cook the bacon- despite the fact there was tons of bacon in almost every other dish ordered which had been served at this point (he ordered his second bloody mary at the same time he ordered his food). The shrimp was disgusting we both spit it out and the bacon was a sad little piece. On to the food, I got chicken and waffles- chicken was okay but the waffles were pancakes cooked in a waffle maker, this was confirmed when i sampled my honeys dish which was the pancakes, they were horrible! How do you mess up pancakes? There were a lot of let overs. I did not get pre meal photos since it took forever to get our food and we were starving. Finally our checks took about 30-40 mins to get from the time we asked for them. The manager was close by and seemed unbothered. The benefit to eating here was that we did the eat and play so we got $15 game cards with our food, unfortunately everything took so long that most of our party was unable to use their free game cards. GameTime is a lot of fun. I have been here a few work happy hours here and have had a nice time with each happy hour. I like that GameTime is affordable. I have been to Dave & Buster's, as well, and I find them to be overpriced. GameTime has great happy hour specials and group discounts. The only food I have had is platters of bar type food (wings, cheese sticks, spinach dip), but it has been pretty tasty! As for the games, there is a big selection here. It is a bit over stimulating to be in the game area, but there is something for everyone. At my last work event, we did a team builder, which was super fun! They broke us into teams and we competed in the different games and it got pretty competitive. I'm excited to bring my kids to GameTime when they get older as it is fun for the whole family! read more

I loved GameTime before they went to do their renovations late last November. I was stoked when they finally re-opened and couldn't wait to go back with guests. Little did I know that the new gamecard for unlimited play was changed forever. You can't use your card to add credits for the game that you were currently playing which was lame. So if you died in a game and wanted to continue with your card, it had a hold of at least 1-2 minutes. When we figured this out, we were very disappointed and felt awful that this place we had been raving about to friends was actually lame. I don't think we will be returning anytime soon. This place though looked very nice with its new renovations, is actually not a place for game time. Go here only if you want to be at the bar or eat there. Fun games but the cashier "toni" completely ruined my friends and i mood, she was completely rude and didn't seem to care at all about anything, it was obvious that she didn't want to be working which I understand but you work in customer service so if you're having a bad day the LEAST you could do is put on a fake smile which she didn't even try to do. Kids would enjoy Gametime but for me it was okay....Lack of game machines and bad food. Well I guess I am wrong for hoping a good food from a game arcade place. The price is not bad....One food item and one hour unlimited play for $15. That does not include the ones with prizes and tickets. They do have another combo with one food, hour unlimited play, and $10 prize game for $21. But I would say go for $15 without the prize games....because they place everything impossible to get. It sucks that they do not validate parking and you have to pay $5 because most of the time you won't find a spot. GameTime failed miserably to accommodate my son's 1st birthday party of 18 people. We had booked two reservations for 10 each on Open Table as advised by 3 different people on their corporate and party planning staff over 3 weeks in advance. When we arrived for our reservation they had two separate areas set up for 10 people each even though the banquet could clearly accommodate our whole party together with a couple more tables added. Then, when I went to set up as host, she refused to let us set up until 80% of our party arrived. The manager was rude and rigid stating policy with no concern for the customer. Fortunately, I was able to very quickly get our whole party moved to Tampa Bay Brewing Company (all sitting together) a couple doors down because I refuse to give GameTime my money. 1 star is too many! read more

Spontaneous trip to Ybor led us to this neat place. We have driven by it many times before but finally took the time to look inside. We each got a 1 hour unlimited play pass. This was awesome as everyone could play together or do their own thing. Loved playing the huge connect four and space invaders with my daughter while the hubby and son conquered all the zombie shooting games. Eventually we all ended up playing air hockey and duckpins. All around we had a fantastic time. We will be back. read more

I absolutely love this place. It's Dave and Buster's without the headache from a thousand kids around. There are less games, but they have better games! I absolutely love the baseball game and bubble hockey. Dave and Buster's does have better prizes, but Gametime is my spot. read more

Gameworks has greatly improved itself since my last visit. Although many of the arcade game that used to be there have been replaced with air hockey, UFO catchers, and ticket games. All the games there seemed to be working on this visit. They still have the DDR arcade systems which can you occupied for plenty of time. They introduced some new arcades there too. I saw several updates to games and played a sit down shooter, similar to the old Jurassic Park, which was really fun. There is actually more SEGA stuff now, the air hockey with Sonic the Hedgehog and basketball hoops were something that weren't there before and adds a little more flavor to the place. Maybe because they are trying to reel in kids a little more now. The staff looks friendlier than before and the crowd improved greatly. Gameworks has done me proud and hopefully with time they will be able to get more arcades and go back to how they were once upon a time. read more

I do like the concept of paying a flat rate to get unlimited gaming... I learned quickly that two hours was going to be one hour too many, but we had already paid. Many of the games were outdated and a few were even glitchy. It's like Dave and Busters, but there aren't as many quality games. Plus, we could never really figure out the delay between games while using your card. Perhaps we were a little too quick? Best game - the demolition driving game with a simulator style seat. Got into that game too late, but could see myself going back to play an hour of that one! read more

We had an absolute blast here I think this was the best place I went to during my trip. Cant say anything bad about it at all. Lots of games open clean safe environment. Easy to get to and lots of things for grown ups as well as kids. Awesome food great pricing. I cant complain about anything. We happend to stumble across this place while walking, my friends at first didnt wantvto come in but I convinced thm and Im glad we did. We stayed for about 5 hrs between playing pool, eating pizza, extended happy hour and the hundreds of games we hadca great time. read more

When I was visiting my family a few weeks ago we were walking around Ybor and decided to stop in for a drink (and some games). I have not been to a place like this in years so I had no idea what to expect. I was exited to play some games so that I could win my nieces some cool toys. I had to ask around to figure out what to do and how to get started. I was instructed to go to the counter to put some money on a card. The card is what we used to pay for the games and "e-tickets" were uploaded to the card as well. After playing games back in my day we receive real tickets and now they just are electronic???? That's no fun! As I was playing games I didn't know how many tickets I had earned and I had no idea how much was left on my card, I was so confused. This is much different for someone like me to comprehend. Eventually we were out of money on the card and decided to pick out prizes. This was a hot mess to figure out. There were only 2 people working the counter and there were probably about 10 kids (and me) waiting to cash in for our prizes. I had to have patience for real. I figured out the amount of tickets I had by asking the girl to swipe my card and then I picked out prizes quickly just so I could get out. I was very shocked with how much fun I had at GameTime! I'm not a huge fan of arcades but this was very fun! I feel like the prices were reasonably priced & we got a lot of play time for our buck. We got the $25 play card which came with 150 points. Each of the games ran between 3-8 points, so it was fun to try a lot of the games! My personal favorite was the air hockey table & also the giant wheel. The variety in games was very nice too. Anything from racing games, to a giant connect 4, to Flappy Bird, and to the crane machine. I had a blast at game time! read more

I'm always nervous using delivery services as we've had several bad experiences not getting our food at all or an incomplete order but no problems this time. This was our first time trying this restaurant and we loved it! All of the items we ordered were hot and tasted awesome. The ribs and chicken were moist and had great flavor. The mashed potatoes, green beans and black beans and yellow rice were great too. The greek salad comes with potato salad which they all should and was also great. The pita bread was warm and soft and the sweet butter was the perfect accompaniment. My only issue is the menu options are limited otherwise we'd probably order here a lot more often! read more

The Short Version: Basically so few games were working that after 3 hours we had played everything we could several times and thought about just leaving with time left over. We won't be coming back. The Long Version: I have been to GameTime a few times, most of my visits went fairly well - the food was okay the drinks were moderately priced and the games were working well and what you might expect. I had no real complaints until visiting last night. My friends and I purchased the 3 hour timed card, we understood that this meant we would not have access to all the games and that we would not accumulate tickets but we were fine with this after reviewing the list of games and finding the we would have access to the majority of them... or so we thought. Right off the bat I was unhappy to find my favorite game (the down the clown game) had only one unit working, but it would be unfair of me to judge the whole experience on this one broken game. We soon found over 50% of the games you are able to play using the timed card were broken, two more broke while we were there. The only working down the clown game broke while we were visiting and the Pac Man Air hockey machine broke down in the middle of our game and was not fixed during the next 2.5 hours we were there. In addition to the Pac Man Air Hockey and both Down the Clown Games some of the other games that were broken down all three hours we were there were the Boxer game, all but one of the Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, Milk Jug Toss, a lane of the mini bowling, 2 of the show down racer seats were broken, 2 of the five basketball hoops were not working at all and 2 that were on were broken, and some of the skee ball lanes were broken. Thats just naming a few of the broken games we encountered. Basically so few games were working that after 3 hours we had played everything we could several times and thought about just leaving with time left over. There were 7 of us which means between us they made $210 which is a lot to spend for nothing to be working or at least in the process of being fixed while we were there. We come here a lot because we live close by and have kids. My suggestions: get the hourly play time and not the points. You don't get tickets with the timed play but those tickets are worthless really. It's super expensive with the points. I learned the hard way. Also, DO NOT EAT there. The food was gross and I don't like using that word when talking about food. I mean, it was really really bad. The bar takes forever! So give yourself 15 minutes or more to get a drink. Arcade-wise, unless you have young children and/or love skee-ball & claw-drops, save your money and invest in home gaming systems. With poorly maintained games and inattentive bar staff, this "arcade"/bar/"restaurant" will satisfy only children and mostly indifferent consumers. Bar-wise, no matter what time of day or how many customers are present, it's bound to take a while to get a drink. They do eventually serve actual alcohol, however, so they've got that going for them. Free water, too! Food-wise, the only item I think is worth the money is French fried potatoes. You'll be satisfied if you're used to eating previously frozen food, though. A friendly staff member is extremely rare. I can only recall two people who's courtesy brought a smile to my face over the past 5+ years. I've had more male staff members try to hit-on me during that time. Honestly, this place could be great. I love arcades so when my 12 yr old cousin came down to visit, I figured it would be a good idea to take him to GameTime because I knew he'd enjoy it. And enjoy it he did. I received a coupon in the mail for a free 1 hour card with the purchase of a $20 all access card. I gave him his card and off he went. With the timed card you don't accumulate tickets to cash out prizes, but that didn't bother him because it was an hour of game time -- all he wanted to play and it was a lot. The all access card that I had for myself accumulated tickets and my cousin cashed out the prizes. There are a ton of games including skeeball, basketball, beer pong type game, racing games, shooting games, pacman, carnival games, ect. All so much fun. BEWARE - with the all access card there were games where I thought the card didn't scan, but it did. This ended up using most of my credits. I found this out due to my checking the card history on the available kiosks. I did bring it up to the attention of the manager. We were given 2 30 minute timed card; however, didn't accumulate tickets. They handled the situation quickly thankfully. After playing some more and cashing out the tickets, we decided to eat there also. Adam was our waiter, and while it was his 1st day, he did great. Food was ok, nothing outrageous, it was decent bar food. They also have an incredible deal of ordering a meal and getting an all access card with 60 credits. Brought our kids here on a Sunday afternoon and it was not busy at all. Parking in Ybor ok Sunday is free, so if you come on a week day you have to pay. We received a ticket in the mail for 1 hour if free game time with a minimum purchase of $20 game card. Our times card did not allow us to play all the games because the card did not collect tickets. They have a decent amount of games and they also have mini bowling. The staff was average, no one went out of their way but it wasn't awful. The arcade itself was like any arcade, dirty and loud. Lots of games where broken so that was disappointing. Honestly, I would rather pay more to go to Dave and busters and have a bigger selection of games. They do have a dining spot and a bar but we didn't stay to eat. A good spot if your looking for a smaller arcade with less kids. read more

1.5 stars. I'll start off by saying that this might not be a good review of Game Time as a whole. Mostly due to the fact that we didn't play any of the games and/or experience that portion of Game Time. Went there on a Sunday afternoon and the restaurant and bar was pretty dead. We were then sat at a table and were completely ignored. There were a bunch of waiters talking to their fellow employees and more or less huddled in a corner. A few of them walked to tables of people already there including some tables right next to our table but they all refused to look in our direction or even acknowledge we even existed. I'm going to go against the grain here and declare to the world I LIKE THIS PLACE. I have been going here for a few years and use it as a starting point for Ybor nights... I mean, what's not to like about an arcade with a bar? This place is fun, and you can never go wrong taking a date or a group of friends here when you can't decide what bar to go to or what to do on a weekend night. We purchased the Yelp $20 for $10 deal and I highly recommend that anyone else wanting to visit does the same. Actually I think everyone in my four-person party did, which was a great idea because we had plenty of points to spend between us. The people working here were friendly and accomodating. And here's the best part... Chris and I won eight stuffed animals. Yes, EIGHT. Pretty much on every try with that darn claw machine. Not bad... although in usual fashion, a sad-looking little girl appeared at one point and after I gave her the pink elephant we had just procured, she proceeded to follow us around for the remainder of the night demanding we put money on our cards and win her more animals. Oh well. I can't resist cute children. And the rest of the stuffed animals went to the dog. That's what you do with cheapo arcade winnings... In addition, they have some fun games like Skeeball and basketball. Maybe not as many games as other arcades but to me it was fine. They had no problem crediting our account when the games didn't work or got stuck. Best part of the night: Chris hit the jackpot on one game and won 1200 tickets! We spent it all on candy. Ok these 4-5 Star reviews have to be employees or people paid to upvote. I will be detailed and clearly outline my experience so everyone can understand what to expect when coming here. I went here on a thursday evening where they do the unlimited play from 7PM-close for $10. Upon arriving I noticed the place completely lit like the club when they are closing down and trying to get everyone to leave. Not a huge deal it's just arcades are normally dimly lit for a reason. I also noticed it was dead which I thought was surprising given the awesome unlimited deal. After beginning to play the games I understood why. MANY OF THE GAMES ARE BROKEN. Let's start with the shooters: Terminator Salvation. My partner and I played this game and not only was the aim off but only one of the guns would not recoil/click/react when pressing the trigger. We moved on to another shooter same problem. We played Transformers, DeadStorm Pirates and a similar (sit down and aim)Vampire game. The aim and controls were not properly calibrated so it basically would not fire where you pointed the gun. On to the Toss/basketball/football games: Next we played basketball hoops. Two of the machines had broken card swipes where you could not even play and the one we settled on kept giving points even if no baskets went in. We eventually discovered that if you just hit the basketball on a certain point on the rim you would get points for a completed shot. The football game was ok although a little beat up. The beer pong game was cool but boring since that's REALLY a game you don't really care to play virtually. Racing Games: There's a HUGE 6 car Sega Formula 1 racing game toward the left of the game room. Anyone that's a gamer knows that if it's sega it's gonna be OLD since sega stopped making those arcade games a very long time ago. It's certainly time for that game to go and be replaced with something more recent. The graphics are extremely old and the controls like most of the other games are not properly calibrated so you spend more time being frustrated than actually having fun. There is also a WRC rally game which was fun in all honesty although the controls seemed a little realistic, and not too arcade-y. I'm a 32 year old nerd from the old school arcade era so I'm very forgiving when it comes to arcades these days since I remember blowing 20-30 bucks back in the day all in quarters on games I only got to play for minutes at a time but gametime just needs to step their game up. All in all I would say this wasn't a good experience at all. Way too much of the gaming machines are Outdated and broken which for a place whose main draw is gaming machines kinda kills it. I have went to Dave and Buster's in Orlando before and I can tell you their machines are much better, they all work they way they're supposed to and they have the proper model. If they do not infuse some fresh elements into this place it probably won't be open much longer. read more

I feel so-so about this place . I will say they have ALOT of cool games to play with and it's really cool how they even have bowling lanes. They also have great selections of prizes to pick from. However , the ticket reward system is unreasonable . Most, if not all of the aracade games were extremely expensive for no reason . Something as simple as the claw machine was 6 tickets . If you play for tickets honestly expect to see your money down the drain , we paid $45 and it lasted us not even an hour. The customer service was great and I love the fact that they have a dining area and that it's located in Ybor; which has a lot of places to visit .I wouldn't come back just because it's just not worth the cost. read more
