I enjoyed it. My 1st-grader enjoyed it. Enough square footage to occupy you for at least a couple hours, plus food onsite to extend the visit further. (Don't expect heaven on a plate at Jax Grill, though. It's only a means to an end.) Love that this is a paperless and token-less experience: One card holds all your funds AND your ticket count. Very excited to bring my daughter here for her birthday. Seemed like a great place to relax and unwind while having some fun. We entered to an empty reception area with a sign directing us to the bar if we wanted game cards or food. We went to the bar, no one there either. We stood there and waited and a very pleasant young woman greeted us, offered us suggestions as to which game card to get. She processed the order and walked away, I had to yell "hey, we want to order drinks too". To which she replied "oh, sorry I didn't realize". Not to nit pick, but you're a server, you should ALWAYS ask if there is anything else. Not too big a deal but it still is just serving 101. We began to play games. Then we realized that about 1 in 3 of the games was malfunctioning in some way. We tried to find a manager but could not even find an employee. So, we continued playing, making note of all the games that ripped us off. Then we needed to get more drinks, we stood at the same bar we were at when we entered, my credit card receipt was still sitting on the bar and we could not find anyone to serve us. We went back to playing, finally found someone to help us and got credit for the games, along with an explanation of why those particular games were malfunctioning. Overall, a very bad experience. I feel so-so about this place . I will say they have ALOT of cool games to play with and it's really cool how they even have bowling lanes. They also have great selections of prizes to pick from. However , the ticket reward system is unreasonable . Most, if not all of the aracade games were extremely expensive for no reason . Something as simple as the claw machine was 6 tickets . If you play for tickets honestly expect to see your money down the drain , we paid $45 and it lasted us not even an hour. The customer service was great and I love the fact that they have a dining area and that it's located in Ybor; which has a lot of places to visit .I wouldn't come back just because it's just not worth the cost. read more

I'm giving a 5 star which is rare for me because I see all these negative reviews and many are unfair. First of all my kids had a ball and it's rare to find a family friendly place in Ybor. Yes it took awhile to get a drink but kudos to the owners for carrying local beer. If you're going to a place like this for food quality that's just sad. Eat elsewhere there are great restaurants within walking distance. It's just a fun place with hard working staff that are patient and great with the spoiled tourists that tend to infest Ybor and think they can be rude and demanding to everyone. Please replace some of those new fangled contraptions with a Pac Man or Galaga for us old fogeys. I would give Gametime 4 stars because it's a really fun, unique place to pass the time. Can't think of anywhere else in Tampa that I can fairly inexpensively whoop some zombie ass with my husband (Zombie games are the best, duh). I 'm deducting a star because quite a few duo games had one side out of order. Lame. I'm not skilled enough to be a solo zombie slayer quite yet, so I'm going to need Gametime to get with it and fix "player 2" so I don't get eaten alive by flesh hungry maniacs in the first 2 minutes. I wanted it to be good. I recently went to Dave and Busters and had a BLAST. Unfortunately it's not the same vibe at Gametime. Even though we had the place to ourselves, most of the games were not able to 2 player connect. After we spent $40 or so, we had a acquired just less than 1000 tickets. Odd, at Dave and Busters 1000 tickets bought me all kinds of cool stuff. There was nothing special here, and the ticket prices were WAY overpriced. We had dinner in the restaurant to take advantage of the "spend $ in the restaurant and get that on a card" promo. Too bad that promo stopped at 7pm and we had ordered at 7:06pm. So we tried to enjoy our over-priced microwaved food, but they couldn't even get our orders right, and our appetizer was brought out after our meals. Considering we were the only people in the restaurant, it's not like they were busy. I thought this would be a wonderful way to spend our 5 year anniversary. But we will probably never go back. It's not worth the hassle of parking, and after dropping $100 on it all, I'd have much rather done any other number of things in Tampa. read more

Our plan was to grab a bite and some drinks, and then shoot some pool. I'm not sure why they even have a restaurant. The food was mediocre. I split nachos with a friend and half of the cheese wasn't even melted. Also got a chicken quesadilla. That was better than the chips, but it wasn't anything special. Our waitress was very nice and friendly (I'm guessing my friends are regulars because she knew them well), but it took a long time to get drinks and even longer for the food. The concept and location are great, but the actual experience? Meh. The drinks were a little pricey and the service wasn't great. I got a card to play games for an hour and I'll admit that was pretty fun. Sometimes the card wouldn't work between games so we had to wait a few minute... That kind ate into the game time. My mom and I were in the area and decided to check out GameTime. We got there around noon and were seated in the bar. I have to say we loved our bartender, Scott maybe (I feel terrible I can't recall his name, but he was great). We opted for the $16.99 eat & play deal. She got the cobb salad and loved it, it looked fantastic and the chicken was great. I got the French dip and was less than impressed, there just wasn't much meat in the roll. The 2-4-1 drink special was great, so we got our money's worth. The gaming was fun, I was just so pumped they had Skee Ball!! The other games were alright, we had a really fun time. They redid Game a Time and it's way better than before. Thursday's you can come in to play $10 unlimited video games. ( doesn't include ticket games to win prizes) my family loves to kill time here with drinking a few beers, playing a few games with the kids and winning tickets to pick prizes. I love the remodel which has brought the place to life again. Lots of cool games to play for all ages, they serve decent food and beer and the place isn't over crowded. This arcade is 5 stars. The staff went above and beyond to make my kids and I happy. The staff was incredible, very accommodative. They stored our to go food and umbrellas at the front for us, my son accidentally swiped games he didn't play bc he wasn't sure how to swipe (he's 6) and the manager reloaded our card for us, held the table where we ate for us so we could play and eat. Exceptional service. You also can't beat $15 to play unlimited arcade games for an hour. The food were larger portions too. Highly recommended for anyone who has kids, or any adult who enjoys arcade games. They also had a lot of new games other places like Dave and busters doesn't carry. We went there on Sunday 4/3. Their website (for Tampa) advertises a 'Sunday 4 Pack Combo' for $39.99 which includes game cards and a 1 topping pizza. I took my kids and requested this promotion. I was told that they are no longer accepting that promotion. There is nothing more frustrating when a company advertises something and you drive across town and are simply told "we are not doing that anymore". I even showed them it advertised on their website.... but that did not matter. We were told that we could do the dine and play for $16.99 - food and 1hr game (no ticket games). So with drink,tip about $80++ for the kids. I was just about to purchase when they said that they would have to get food first then play. I had 4 kids ready to play and was being told they have to sit down and have lunch first... we really did not want that it was early and they were ready to play. The person working the counter said that is how it works. Their games looked/were good, but they do not honor their promotions/advertisements, and not having the flexibility to get lunch promotion after play... I give them only 2 stars, this is bad management. read more

My company did a team outing here on a Tuesday afternoon. They greeted us with a platter of food which was good bar food. Pizza, wings, tenders, moss sticks, cookies and brownies. Also we got 5 drink tickets each which was plenty (after sharing with the light weights). The games are pretty on point; there are definitely a multitude of games for everybody. I will comment on the games and the establishment only as I know better not to order previously frozen and deep fried food here. We usually go to dinner before or after coming out for a few games. They have definitely updated the inside from what it used to be. It gets a little warm inside which I think has to do with the machines or they keep it that way so you buy more drinks!! Speculating over here. I have never seen the staff actively whipping equipment down or anything so I come prepared with my own hand sanitizer. I think they can definitely do a better job at keeping the place clean. My favorite game has to be the zombie apocalypse! My twelve year old loves coming here. It can be a little pricey, but on our most recent visit, we bought a card for $25 that gave us 140 credits, which gave him about 45 minutes of play time, plus a handful of game prizes (stuffed toys and a ball) and enough tickets for small collection of fun dip. He has a great time, so it was money well spent. Most of the games run about 4-10 credits, some a little higher (14 to 35 game plays depending on what you like to play). The variety of games is great...arcade games, virtual/simulation games, a bunch of prize claw-cranes, skee-ball, basketball hoops,and mini bowling alleys, to name a few. One of our favorites is the "Pac-Man Smash" air hockey table. There is also a very nice restaurant/sports bar that I have never experienced (too busy having fun in the game area with the kid), but all in all, it is very well laid out (I've noticed a few updates in the last few years), clean, and most of the games were operating (I saw one or two out of order). It is much larger, less noisy, more well-lit, and cleaner than the arcade nearest our house, so it's worth the 25 minute drive. read more

I recently went to Game time for a work party. I enjoyed the atmosphere. They reserved the bar area for our large party. The bar area was a nice open area with pool tables. The service in the bar was quick and the servers were pleasant. We had a buffet and the food served was good. We enjoyed salad, rolls, rigatoni, potatoes, prime rib, chocolate cake and cheesecake. We also enjoyed time in the game room. It was a little crowded but that's expected for a Saturday night. We had a good time playing almost all of the games at least once. It appeared some of the games needed to be reset or fixed. They could probably be more prompt on repairing these. I enjoyed my visit to Game time and would definitely come back for a game night. I really enjoyed coming to Game Time! The atmosphere is really fun and the game selections they have are cool too. My favorite game is one where you pretend as if you are on a roller coaster ride and it actually makes you feel as if you're in it. You can choose different scenarios and be in a cave roller coaster ride, etc. (That scenario is the best). This is a good place to hang out with friends while you're down in Ybor. The price isn't bad either. The cons though are that. ... 1. The staff is not the friendliest or helpful. I stood at a booth waiting to be helped so I could start playing games for well over 10 minutes. Staffers even saw me and walked away. 2. The game selection could be better. They need more games because you can easily get bored after about an hour. I do recommend this place still if you like arcade games, skip ball, and food. It's fun and I will still return. Haven't been here since it was gameworks, there were a lot more games before. I can probally say it compares to Dave and Busters in Orlando. We went at midday during the week and it was dead, but startied picking up before we left. Some games were shutoff, I think it would be hard to get on a game if it got busy? I would go on the week day afternoon. There aren't many of the same titles available. The food looked like grill entrees, I think I saw a sign that said a burger, bag of chips, drink and like 10 tokens for $14.99 but can't be sure. Let's just say I would not eat there. They should put more games in there, i didn't see but maybe one newer title. Many games were from the old game works. I did like the Rambo game. The place is way overstaffed for such a slow weekday. They need to handle their costs better. I hope they get better in the future as there is not much competion out there. read more

My grandson is visiting me from Jersey. I don't have to tell you guys the weather has been miserable. It's been raining for 40 days and 40 nights! Ok, I'm exaggerating......barely! This kid has been stuck in the house for 2 weeks. I'm feeling badly, I'm thinking he's never going to visit me again. I looked on the Internet for fun indoor activities and I found Game Time in Ybor. We went on Thursday about 3pm, there were a few kids there which is fine by me. My grandson had the run of the place and he enjoyed himself. There's the usual types of arcade games. There's also a restaurant and bar but we didn't eat there. My grandson is a picky eater, not a foodie like his grandma. This is the 2nd time at Game Time since it used to be known as Gameworks located in the historic central Ybor. We were here for a tween birthday party of only 4 girls. We had made reservations for a table at 2pm for lunch (it was Sunday game day - so wasn't too sure how busy it would be) and were seated immediately. Had a nice and considerate waitress asking if we wanted to put the cake we brought in the freezer and putting the girls winnings (they were very large bouncy balls) in a spot away from the table. For the most part she was pretty attentive but for not having large restaurant area and hardly any guests I expected more. We ordered 2 pizzas and wings for everyone - wings were decent and pizza was okay. The dough was not cooked thoroughly but enough to still be edible, perhaps if it was cooked thoroughly it would've been a decent pizza. There are so many other restaurants in the district with same price better quality food - if it wasnt for having 4 girls here for the birthday, I would not have eaten here. Now onto the games, looking around there are some new games from my last visit (about a year ago) but nothing to get excited over. I preferred the games that were here when it first opened, more interactive games you actually get in/on. My last visit there were a lot of out of service games where this I noticed most of them were working. You can choose from two type of games cards, an hourly or one with a select number of credits. The hourly limits the type of games you get to play where the card with credits purchased allows you to play all the games. We purchased the cards with credits for the girls and it did not last very long. Depending on the type of games, age of people in your party and your budget this is something to keep in mind when purchasing the cards! From an adult stand point I was not impressed with the games they had. I asked the girls for their opinion and they didn't seem too impressed either but did have a fun time. I guess it depends on your level of "gaming" and expectations of the type of arcade games you are looking to play. Game Time is more game over for me - not someplace I would personally visit again. read more

When your in ybor gametime is a great establishment for anyone from kids to adults! You can spend hours here they have a lot of different games. I came here with 3 others and we got two cards loaded with the $25 dollar option for about 180 credits each game costing around 3 to 8 credits. Not all the games give you tickets for prizes. One thing I think should be noted is that we where confused as to why we did not get any tickets but a lady said the tickets go directly to the card when swiped. We hung out for around a hour and a half in the end we want to the prize area and we had about 700 points each. The prize selection did not have much to get in that point range so you can save the points for later but we decided to get some candy. Another thing to mention is they have a wonderful happy hour for the 21+ crowd from 4pm to 8pm with half off all liquor and draft beer. I picked up a cigar city jai alai 16oz for around $2.50!! I always have a ton of fun at this place. There is definitely something for everyone here. The food is great and the prizes that you can win are way above average. Literally, I come here about once a week because it's down the street from me. So, I have seen it at many times a day in various states of crowded. Thus, sometimes it can be unexpectedly understaffed in the blink of an eye but the bar staff is always kind and competent. The floor staff is also great. Sometimes games get hung up, that's normal. But, Alicia and the whole game crew are always on top of it, with a friendly attitude. read more

When we went in, we explained it was our 1st time, the 'hostess' a male/Jaron was nice but I did not feel him to be too experienced. Our drinks arrived fast, 2 for 1. We ordered a pizza and a chicken tender plate which were 2 of the things that would give you a free card for the arcade games.. It's like an adult 'Chuckee Cheese' it's good. Not great. We just left gametime as we stopped in for lunch before we headed to an event we were booked for. First off, the place is understaffed. Melanie the bartender we had as there weren't any servers there was fantastic. We had 2 orders of Nachos and a Chicken and Waffles. With barely anyone in the restaurant at 330 it took almost 45 minutes to get our food. We wanted to speak to a manager, and the manager, a lady who after asking her name as she never disclosed it, named "Tony" was the absolute worst manager experience i have ever had. She offered no empathy or even an "I'm sorry" Had I not turned my head to talk to my friend, i wouldn't even had noticed here since she didn't even adress the table when she arrived. That type of management will kill your business. When we told her it took forever, her response and I quote was " We only have one cook".... UNREAL. We finally got the kitchen manager Lynn who said its not the first time conmplaints have come in about Tony. He took great care of the situation and apologized profusely She needs a new line of work.
