Extremely poorly handled Switch 2 launch. There was a line on 6/4/25 for non-preordered consoles. Other stores figured out number of inventory and number of buyers. This store did not do that. Instead, an employee dressed like Mario talked to waiting customers, and did not clarify stock until the end. He wasted many peoples time while idly conversing with them. Additionally, for those trying to purchase or get their pre-order pick up times, the process was extremely slow, taking over an hour for 20 people to get their reservation. read more

And with their constant deals on used games you're bound to go home with a bundle of games for less than a brand new triple A game. In light of the recent COVID-19 situation, Game Stop decided to remain open, but took extra precautions in order to reduce the possible spread of the illness. As two major games were available for pick up (Doom the Eternal and Animal Crossing: New Horizons) I'm sure many people, as I am, we're grateful they remained open to allow people to pickup preorders. I didn't catch the name of the, what seemed like, single employee in the entire store when I went to pick up my copy of Animal Crossing on Friday, March 20th, but I just want to give them a shout out. They managed the stressful situation beautifully and got people in and out of the store efficiently, despite the need for a very limited store capacity of five customers. Props to them for running Game Stop on one of its busiest days during a health crisis by themselves. read more

Two stars for having games available. Service here blows. I don't know if the staff is just socially inept or if corporate is actively encouraging them to be as annoying as possible. They try to guilt you into signing up for whatever useless coupon system they have, and instead of just taking no for an answer they decide to be as condescending as possible. Gamestop is just gamestop. This is a nice location and gets a good amount of foot traffic. But the employees are great and deserve a shout out. I came here yesterday and while paying at the cash register, I awkwardly banged my wallet on the counter and all of my credit cards flew out and fell on the floor. I quickly gathered them all up and eventually left. But when I got home, I realized that one of my credit cards were missing. I went to more stores, had lunch, etc. in the meantime (about 3 hours) I was afraid that maybe someone found my card and could have used it. I called gamestop and explained what happened and they asked for verification of the card (what it looks like, name on the card, etc.) and when I told them they were happy to report that they had it! I went back to the store to get it and the manager and assistant manager knew about it and had it stored away in a safe. Honest employees make a great business! read more

Do not buy a Console from this GamesStop I bought a Nintendo Switch from them that was defective and they would not exchange it for a non broken one after telling me on the phone that they would they told me it's a feature for the Nintendo Switch Joycons to wobble on the side of he system. Had to go to different GameStop to have it exchanged and they noticed the issue right away and replaced it. Also my replacement system I got from the other GameStop doesn't wobble at all. WORST SHOPPING EXPERIENCE EVER! Trade in two consoles - took 1 hour. Place an online order in store - took 1.5 hours. When I arrived, there was one person handling the checkout. When it's my turn to trade in consoles, I was asked to wait aside because it may take a long time to process trade-ins and he wanted to checkout for other customers first. Waited 15 minutes and finally another staff came and started processing my trade-in (while helping other customers at the same time). Trade-in took another 45 minutes because they needed to fully set up the console, including requesting me to login my personal online account, in order to verify the storage. Then I was told that because there's a Refurbished sticker, they need to deduct $11 from the trade-in value. They were able to see the sticker as soon as the console was taken out but they didn't mention it until I've already spent 30 minutes in the store. They bet I would let the time waste just to save $11. That's the first hour. Then I was told that the store credit I got from trade-in could only be applied in-store, so they needed to place an order for me. The staff wanted to rush up and put the address on my driver license as shipping address without checking with me. I told him that the address was not current, and he told me that I have to wait 2.5 hours to have this issue corrected, and I have to be in the store all the time!! How ridiculous it is, but I have no other choice unless I want to give up $500+. Fortunately his call to the warehouse went through after 15 minutes and the address was changed after another 10 minutes. Shortly after I left the store, I found on the webpage that the address was still incorrect after me confirming so many times - the street name had a missing digit! I went back immediately and talked to the person who placed the order for me, but he refused to help me and asked me to call the customer service. He knew very well that it may take several hours to have my call answered by CS and there's a chance that my order got shipped out, but he still asked me to leave the store and handle this myself. I then called customer service and waited on the line, waited for an hour and finally got through. This is my second time buying at GameStop, and my first time experience was not good either. I won't ever do business with GameStop. Glad that I didn't join their paid membership which I once seriously considered. read more

Got a 3DS game as a gift, don't own a 3DS (non-gamers don't understand a DS Lite can't play it) so wanted to return it. Sealed and I totally understood I'd have to settle for store credit. Couldn't even find the employee at first, once i did he barely even acknowledged my plight and told me I'd have to trade the game in used. So I left and went to Target, sealed game, store credit only, no problem got my credit got another game for the Switch twice the price move on with my life. Now that so many digital games go on sale all the time I don't really need used games or trade ins anymore. If Target gives me better customer service why do I even need Gamestop anymore. This place is so terrible. Every time I go here I have another story to tell my friends about how weird or creepy or rude the staff and people here are. I could honestly go on for pages with the amount of stories. The people who work here are so rude, condescending, and unkempt (you can smell them from across the counter sometimes!). One time I came in to sell an old Xbox, and one of the workers (who I honestly wasn't sure if they were male or female) asked me what my favorite game for the system was. After I told them, they just went on and on about what a stupid game it was and kept asking how I could ever have liked it. Another time I called and put a game on hold there. When I got there the same day, the worker insisted that I must've called a different store because they didn't have it. I knew I called the right store, and finally the person I talked to on the phone came from the back and got me the game. The other guy didn't even bother to check the drawer they keep the on hold games in. The worst time was when the actual manager of the store at the time just started dumping his life story to me. Saying how he was fired from one place and how he hated his other job and just wouldn't let me leave. It was so weird and awkward. I try to avoid this place at all costs since the people working here are all different kinds of weird. You'll get better prices and service online. But if you have to go here, get out as soon as you can. read more

I stopped in for the new Steven Universe figures, but they were completely sold out. So I left my info hoping that maybe I'd get a heads up if more came in but, honestly? The one time I did pre-buy Grand Theft Auto IV, they sold it to midnight customers and didn't have any stock when I got off work. No discount... but got a book free lol. I love to play on my DS lite, and yes I am in my thirties now but can't seem to grow out of it. Being a fan I often visit Game Stops to peruse the selection and purchase some games to feed my habit. Out of all the Game Stops I've been too.... and there's a lot. This is one of my top favorites, my other favorite is the Crossroads Game Stop in Bellevue. Everyone is always nice and helpful, especially the cute guy, I like him the best :) They are also knowledgeable as they should be fore a specialty store. The one in Bellevue Sq is staffed by people who know nothing about games! They have a decent selection, and if they don't have something they are happy to look up the locations of the nearest store that carries the game you are looking for. Sadly on my most recent visit the closest store that had my game was in California! Anyway, being right off Redmond Way it's very convenient and they are quick, I've never had a long wait in line like in Lynnwood or Everett. This is my go to store to make some trades if I'm in a hurry. As other Yelpers mentioned they aren't the cheapest store BUT if you buy the used games and don't like them, you can bring them back! read more

I wish they were better stocked as there have been a number of times they did not have games I wanted. I've had similar problems with accessories; they don't always have the ones I want. Worst store ever. They preordered the wrong item for me and never even called when the wrong item arrived. When I finally found out about it, they refused to do a simple order look up over the phone based on my receipt. I had to visit the store to confirm that they actually screwed up my preorder! Then they simply gave me some random nonsense excuse like "there are too many reasons out of our control why you did not receive our call when the item arrived." I KNEW that they screwed up and did not call because my voice mail was never full. There was NO record of any call from the store on my phone. I even visited the store twice in between to check my order status. Worst part? Not a single apology was given, as if it was all my fault. read more

I went in today with a friend to see what was in the clearance bin. Gotta love those socks and hats am I right? I found a pair of socks that I liked. Took them to counter and got ready to pay. At the counter he asked me for my phone number , I told him I did not want to give it. He told me that in order to make a purchase I would have to do give a phone number per company policy. That doesn't sound right but I came here to buy something so okay. After more uncomfortable uncomfortable dialogue ( which I transcribed completely in my review to the GS website) I cut him off and told him I did not want to renew it and I would just like my socks. He then backpedaled and explained something about Gamestop making a deal with Microsoft or something and tried to act buddy buddy. The content of what he said isn't important. It is the pattern of behavior. He is pushy and rude. I sternly set a boundary and tell him what I need his help with. He challenges me and tries to make me feel dumb. I am not someone who gets pushed around but I do not go looking for fights. I am polite but stern with him always and he does not back down. When the energy in the room becomes palpable he backpedals and tells me something cool or fun, tries to act friendly. I always end up leaving upset. Today though he flat out lied to my face to get the sale. I knew he was lying, but hey I don't work there. I don't know the policies. I have been around the block enough though to know when someone is trying to pull a fast one on me. I called the Issaquah GameStop and spoke to the MOD.I told him I had an uncomfortable experience at another location and was hoping he could clear up the return policy for me. Specifically regarding phone numbers. He explained to me that while a phone number is helpful in tracking purchases for a future return it is absolutely not necessary for a purchase. Thank you Ryan, I thought the same thing. It is one thing to be competitive and passionate. I have been top sales man many a times. I know what it takes. I however have never put my integrity aside to make a sale. I have never BULLIED a customer and I sure as shit have never LIED to a customer in order to make a sale. I do not claim to know Matt personally or know what he is about. But as an employee Matt has consistently showed me that he is not to be trusted and that he cares more about the sale than he does about service. I am not the only one either, my friend left the store feeling off too. I work in Redmond. I have many times heard about the "rude guy" at the Gamestop and I am pretty sure I know who they mean. Not just hearsay either, I have seen him treat other customers this way too. I feel bad anyone who has been treated by Matt in the same way I was treated today. I literally paid for a hardware replacement, which is basically paying for two controllers but only getting one. So that you can supposedly come in and get a replacement for no charge. Well, thats a LIE. The store rep said " we don't have any controllers currently" pointing the the empty rack. But behind the counter is another wall of controllers that I can't have, because said customers bought them online yesterday or some time in the recent past. Where's my refund...? read more

On the occasion I buy a game it is usually an instant gratification thing so I call around someplace local until I find one that has it. I walked in with low expectations and it's still disappointing. When I used to visit this store it was always "meh" in terms of selection and service. Buying games is more than just popping into a store and "buying stuff." For instance, when you buy a suit, you usually feel like the investment is good and the service was adequate. At this specific Gamestop, you can expect nothing beyond mediocre. After having many disappointing experiences with the service here, I limited my visit to desperation (once I needed to pre-order a game that was a Gamestop exclusive and on another occasion, a Playstation Move). Now if you're visiting for a midnight release, there are no bathrooms available to customers. Not even in the mall. And when it comes to open hours, disregard the sign in the window, because they will close whenever they please. I've been here at 25 minutes until closing (as posted in the window and online) and the service clerk had already turned off the lights and locked the door. This situation has occurred twice already. On the 2nd occasion, I asked from outside "Don't you close in 30 minutes?" And the guy simply said "Yes" and walked into the back room. Do yourself a favor and offer the Mom & Pop shops a chance. If you live in the Kirkland/Redmond area, check out "Play N Trade", "Game Gurus", and "Another Castle Video Games." You will find adequate service and the better selection gamers can appreciate. I had to pick A star.... would have went Negitive if I could. Ordered a 2 controllers in June..They shipped one not the other.. Called the store to see about a refund a month later, they were supposed to send a gift card as the item is out of stock... they did not contact us we contacted them... waited several weeks no gift card ever came... order still shows pending in the acct.... Called again, again after a hour long wait to speak to someone was told that they would send a gift card... A month later Nothing call Customer service again have been on hold for 2 hours. WORST customer Service EVER! You now have my Item and my money and refuse to put my money back to my debit card.... I want my money... not a gift card from a company who in my book has a terrible record at this point. We used to shop Game Stop all the time I will NEVER shop here again. 5 months to fix your mess up and you havent SAD. read more

Gamestop is Gamestop, as others have said. Most of the time I come in, find games, dodge questions about pre-orders, pay, and leave, and hey, that's all I want. I went in today to check out Amiibos and found an uncommon Amiibo on the shelf (Pit). I was like hey, awesome! I picked it up, walked around the store for another 15 minutes looking at games, then spent another 10 minutes in line (it's the holidays). When I got to the front of the line, I hand the Amiibo to the person at the register who was very friendly. Then, the manager, looking over her shoulder, just says "No" and "That's not for sale". I say... "What? This was on the shelf, I've been walking around with it for half an hour?" The manager takes it out of my hand and tells me someone just called in and it's on hold. I tell him that's ridiculous and he says "Sorry we've been busy". By far the worst experience I've ever had at Gamestop. Haven't seen this manager here before, hope he's not here long. read more

I bought a "new" Xbox 360 system from them, and when I brought it home the cables were stuffed in there, no original wrapping, and there was already a gaming profile on the console. I can understand this if I bought a "used" or "refurbished" system, but there is absolutely no excuse to deal with this with a new system. The whole reason to buy a new system is so that it is under warranty. What if the previous person put on a hack or something that would make the warranty invalid? Don't try to sell a used system as new... at least offer a discount for an open box item. read more

My sister and I visit Gamestop somewhat frequently because of games coming out, being available to pre-order, or being out for long enough that there's probably a used copy in the store. We haven't gone in a couple of months, thanks to being satisfied with our current collection, mostly purchased from Gamestop. The last couple of times we went, the employees occasionally chimed in to our conversations about various games, talking about how much they enjoyed parts of it and other games they found similar in the aspects they liked. Usually we aren't there without a game already in mind, but they've given us some pretty sound recommendations. We usually say that we don't need any help, so it's mostly when we're basically the only customers in the store that they talk with us--which is nice since we aren't big on sustaining conversations, even about something we like as much as games. There've been a couple of times recently that they've had to inform us that they ran out of the codes for a game bonus or something like that, but that was because of a late shipment and not receiving the full amount they were told they were getting. The TV that plays ads for games is kind of annoying at times, but whenever they mention the title of a game you're interested, you are definitely going to notice. Granted, it runs through a set amount of reviews, so you'll hear it more than once if you're in the store for long enough because of browsing or lines. read more

Sorry long vent .....Wow where has great customer service gone, so we come to Gamestop and my son goes to buy a game the price says 27.99 on the game, I didn't notice the price being charged was not the correct price my son actually noticed and said um why is my total 40 dollars if the game is 27.99, the associate replies oh oh yea so I ask them if they can change the price he says I don't know so he ask another associate he says well the price went up because of the demand of the game and I said ok I understand the demand may have went up but the ticket price clearly says 27.99 so I would like it for that price and then he answers well we can't change the price our system won't let us, so I said fine I'll go ahead and pay but I will be calling corporate and they will change it, Mike goes in and tells them they need to change the price, so while he's in there I call another GameStop and tell him the situation and he says yes that they can change the price so I went back in the store still on the phone with the Bellevue GameStop associate and tell them that they can change the price, well then the Redmond associate says well I've only worked here for a month or so so I don't know how to do it, I said that the Bellevue associate will walk you through it, I then said so basically you lied that GameStop doesn't change prices it's just that you didn't know how to and you could have said that and called another store or your manager to walk you through it....vent over read more

Always had great, prompt customer service at this location. Employees are honest and helpful and don't try and upsell too much.

I just enjoy how friendly and knowledgeable the people who work here are. I am clearly not really a gamer and have no clue but they make sure I end up with something that will make me happy.
