The Game Over staff are friendly and helpful. Their Tacoma Mall store is closer to me and this was the first time at their Bellevue store. Besides used items, they stocked new third party accessories, soundtrack albums, and gaming related items like toys. Prices are comparable to others locally and online. I found certain used accessories to be less expensive than online comps and picked up an Xbox controller headset adapter yesterday at a good price. I enjoy that both stores have mini gaming museums. My only negative is the large amount of games without original packaging on the shelves. A couple of sections were a sea of white with hand written names. I'm always appreciative of alternative Game stores like this. They have retro games and the setting is almost always matches that with nostalgic posters and other decor all around to take you back to the yesteryears of gaming. You can find quite a bit of preowned games and accessories here. The store is pretty orderly in terms of system library displays and the alphabetizing of what is in stock. The staff guy working there was cool and helpful. Asked him about a game. They didn't have it in stock but he checked their other store (i believe he said it was in Tacoma) via the computer out of stock their too. I appreciate he went ahead and checked without me asking, especially since I didn't know there was another store in the first place. Now I do. One drawback here at Game Over is the stock is pretty lacked. A few preowned games I was looking out for were not there, they're not even rare or uncommon games. Perhaps there are others just like me that see the value in these particular games. Still though, the preowned section for all the consoles were stacked with common titles and lots of others were nowhere in site. Nice staff but OUTRAGEOUS prices on retro. First time stopping in. I'm a retro collector. They're asking $100 for a GBC, when you can buy them online for $60 easily. My last three GBC purchases were on Ebay and Facebook Marketplace. All three were cleaned, recapped capacitors, and were only $60. To charge $100 to some random customer who doesn't know market prices is criminal. Do not make big purchases here on old hardware. Nice staff, and they seem to have the correct equipment to test games on the fly before you buy. But they do not have a very big selection of retro games. There were only about a half dozen GB games for sale, about 2 dozen GBA games and there was only one retro console for sale from what I saw. Needed some cash to cover a medical bill, so I brought in some older sealed games after being assured I would receive comparable value based on what they currently sell for. I was told I could only get store credit as they didn't have cash, which I understand. My issue was when I came back to the store, everything I sold was marked for close to $1000, when I was only given $150 in store credit. The employees are deceitful and malicious in their taking advantage of any lack of knowledge on the part of the seller. They even tried to convince me not to use the store credit on the single item they had that I wanted. A 500% markup is ridiculous, and predatory. Will never go their again. I'd rather play the eBay lottery over giving these leeches another cent. read more

There used to be a retro video game store nearby called "Video Game Era." They closed down for some reason, but like a phoenix rising from its ashes, Game Over has kind of taken its place. It's a store that, like Pink Gorilla, specializes in older games. I like this place because they actually sort their items in chronological order of release for the most part. I saw stuff as old as the Atari 2600 and as new as the PS3 era. They also have a sizable collection of games for all these systems. My biggest complaint is that a large proportion of these games are shovelware and wouldn't be worth very much. Prices can also be rather high on some used games, even ones that have no value like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. But the store seems to be doing everything else right, which is why I'm a fan. I did see some interesting gems in there like Final Fantasy VII and a Kingdom Hearts II poster. I just hope to see more must-have titles at this store in the future. read more

Amidst a period of boredom at work yesterday, I decided to google "local retro stores" - specifically, looking for local stores that would allow me to get a fix for my newfound appreciation and hobby that is Retro Gaming. And, I'm happy to report that Game Over Videogames is precisely what I was looking for! First and foremost, walking into the store was a pleasant experience - anything becomes a pleasant experience to the awesome tunes of the Persona 5 Soundtrack. Right off the bat, the store hit me straight where it matters (Persona 5 is one of my favorite games of all time btw). So, that was a good start. Then, I got to speak to the Manager of the store, Ryan. Very nice person, very knowledgeable about games and the many consoles and companies represented in the store by the products on display. The rack of consoles behind the counter is one of the first things anyone that walks in would notice: lots of consoles, from NES, SNES, and GameCubes to Xbox and Playstation units. Games are properly displayed per console platform, with GameBoy and DS games behind the class counter, and the rest of the games in shelves across the length of the store. Long story short, I stayed there over an hours on what was supposed to be a short 15 minute stop. If you are a retro hobbyist, interested in past generations of consoles, or just curious about the store, I would recommend anyone to pass by and check out their selection. I was told by Ryan that they accept games for store credit (similar to Gamestop, but for retro goodies!), they have services for replacing old batteries in game cartridges, and they have occasionally events and little tournaments in the store! Grade: A (could be A+ after the next few visits) *Note: this does NOT mean they have every retro game or every rare game out there. They MIGHT, because someone might bring it in to sell it. But, even with that, it's still worth the trip. read more

Based on the high scores, I thougt I would check these guys out. When you walk in, you see multiple titles from ever video game platform ever. HOWEVER, they lacked titles from current platform Xbox 1 and especially PS4. The good news is you can find current gen titles almost anywhere. The few current gen titles they had were not in demand or fairly priced. Seeing opportunity, I decided to bring in some hot titles from my collection. Long story short, I brought in 8 titles and a new controller, all in min condition. I was offered $8 and 15 in trade. My jaw hit the ground and the girl started to process a trade. I stopped her and advised I wouldn't be trading in my titles for that price. I zipped over to Gamestop. They gave me $30 in trade for 6 of the 8 titles, but where not interested in my PS3 controller. I took it. I felt my titles were worth more, but when I considered what I would get selling online, this was a faster alternative. If you give low cash for titles, you need to sell titles for less. The reason Game over doesn't have current gen titles on the shelf is because no one is going to trade in titles worth $12-15 for a dollar. Their collection of classic system titles can't be met anywhere else, but let's be honest. When you can emulate, or download classic games for pennies, why would you pay $8 for an Atari 2600 cartridge that is dirty, dank and most likely a garage sale, Goodwill transplant. read more

Clean, well-organized and good prices! Has a nice feeling of nostalgia. Even though the games are used, they come in mint condition. I got the DS lite version of Legend of Starfy for only $6!! When you purchase something, they tell you that if theres any problems with the game then you have 10 (I think it was 10?) days to come and bring it back. Staff were also very helpful and answered all of my questions! The store also sells a couple of hand-held Nintendo consoles, some gameboys and a nintendo ds lite for fair prices. Next to the cashier is a little Nintendo 64 where I was able to play an 8bit mario game with some friends which was really neat. The back of the stores also has some handmade video game themed crafts made by customers for sale which I thought were really cute. There are monthly tournaments for retro games and (as with all used game stores) their stock is always changing so you may walk away with a gem you hadn't expected to find. I'am extremely pleased that a shop like this that sells all old games of our childhood (My favorites N64, Gamecube, PS), have managed to find a perfect little spot outside of the Crossroads mall. If you're a true gamer or want to share old games of your past with your kids today, Game Over is the place to go. Located outside of the mall right next to Barnes and Noble Bookstore, this little shop has alot of games for a decent price. Mind you most rare games are very high in price (50-100) for an old system like the PS, PS2, N64, etc but if you're looking for a pretty common gamecube/xbox360 game, most are in the price range of 10-25 bucks. Not a bad deal considering Gamestop no longer sells those types of games anymore and you've been relying on ebay all this time to find possibly good deals on your old games. That is if they aren't damaged and the seller on ebay is 100% legit. Game over is only one of 2 small stores in our area. You've got the Bellevue store (this one) & one in Seattle (The rest are based in Texas). I'm pleased this shop is so close to home because going all the way across the water to find a game i'm looking for isn't what i call fun. Besides loving how convenient this shop is and how this is a local business (nothing like Gamestop), the employee's at this location are very knowledgeable and friendly. Even if you can't find what you're looking for, they appreciate you stopping in none the less. The layout of this store isn't very big but the games are conveniently displayed and is always clean. You got games on the walls but you also got some pretty snazzy glass cases where they store some cool figurines and unopened games to go googoogaagaa for. And besides games they also have accessories, clothes, boardgames and in the back you can see some local game art, that is a bonus! If you're looking for Xbox One or PS4 games i warn you this is not the place to go. There is almost nothing of new games in their inventory. This is mostly dedicated to older games but they do have alot of Wii and 3DS games. Overall my experience has been pleasant and my friends all shop here so of course we'll be back in sometime soon. I'm just hoping the next time i go in, they will have what im looking for (More in the PS, PS2 & Gamecube section). To start off my Seattle trip, I came here to this Texas based retro game store right after getting settled with my hotel. Walking in, shelves with video games placed in alphabetical greeted me with a welcome by the store cashier at the time, Brian. I continued to browse and found that most of their more valuable games (mostly playstation JRPGs) were behind the counter or behind a glass case on the side of the shelves. On one corner, they have a little hangout spot with a television and a little couch. I did not see anyone hanging around there but it seemed pretty cool as they had some Japanese video game commercials playing as I was browsing their Atari selection. In addition to video games, Game Over Videogames also sells some gamer clothing. Looked at a few shirts and they seem pretty cool. I came back the next day contemplating on buying a PS One they had on display after buying a copy of Tales of Destiny and Mega Man Legends 2 from yesterday. I ended up buying it and found it to be in great condition alongside a PS One screen. To be sure, I double checked to see if the machine worked and Brian was able to hook it up further showing how in great condition it was. I also bought a Playstation memory card because mine tend to end up at Hogwarts or Narnia just from dropping it in my room. One little nitpick though is that the memory cards are not formatted when you buy them and have to delete the data on there yourself. Not a big deal but something to consider. Overall, I like this place a lot from their selection. I asked how often they have sales and from what I was told, Game Over Videogames tries to have at least one sale every month. I came in during the Labor day weekend and they had a sale of 'buy two get one free' which cleaned out their selection. I love the customer service these guys give (Thanks Brian!) and when I come on back to visit/live in the Seattle Area, I will be sure to come back with some friends. read more

All retro stories are having a harder time keeping in rare, uncommon, and Mario 3 style games. But they do about as good of a job as you can in this climate. This place is like a time capsule! I mean if game stop existed in the 70s and 80s this would be it. You walk in and see just hundreds of game cartridges from all walks of life, there's even mint condition old systems to buy. I don't remember the name but they sell modern stimulator clones that look like old systems but are modern stimulators to actually play on the old systems which is pure awesome in my book. The plushie collection is awesome! I feel like they went to Nintendo HQ and picked the best out of the bunch but watch the prices since if you're a plushie binger it might clean out your wallet. They do have some modern consoles too. Saw some pre owned 360s and what not so you might find a good deal? But don't expect to come here for anything for the newer consoles. If they ever get a purple edition Nintendo 64 I'll swoop it up. And if that jungle green is sitting long enough I'll grab it too! I'll be back for sure for my PS1 and N64 needs. The problem was sometimes it would take me like a half hour to get a game to load (just because of the nature of using 30 year old hardware) so I brought it back for a Retron5. That was exactly what I wanted except then my Retron had manufacturing issues, so I brought it back for another one.... then that one had issues so I brought it back for ANOTHER one. Finally I got a Retron5 that worked and not once did the employees of the store make me feel guilty or bad for what felt like excessive returns. If you ever apply here watch out! I turned in a resume like a year or so ago. The called me 4/20 about seeing if i was still interested in working there. I decided to go there after work and after i went to get something I really wanted. With all of the jobs I have had they let me know about what I would be making. So I was just inquiring of about the starting pay was the guy there was "That's for qualified applicants." Every jobs has told me this guy was a total idiot. The staff members I have met are nice, and the store is great but the one thing is I bought a copy of a game for the xbox that was priced eight dollars higher than the copy for the playstation and when I asked why that was the staff could not give me a reason.
