I've never been treated so poorly by a retail sales person in my entire life. Been in a few times since I recently moved into the area. Spoke with a younger guy a few times regarding the fact that gamestop now sells cards. He was always helpful and said to check regularly for new stock. Today I went in to do just that and it will be the last time I do. Possibly for games too. The lady with the eye shadow and dark hair was by far the most rude sales person I've ever come across. 1st she was on the phone with what I guessed was her manager for 10 min while I was standing at the counter to ask a question. Never once did she tell the manager that there were customers waiting (I wasn't the only one). After she finally got off the phone she proceeded to have an attitude because 8 min into her conversation I asked her to tell her manager that she had customers waiting. After I called her on her rudeness she literally proceeded to mock me and said, "You'll get over it." Also mocked me for trying to get cards in the first place which blew my mind. I left the store in utter shock by the whole interaction. I worked in sales/retail for 4 to 5 years and I would've been fired immediately if I treated a customer like she treated me. read more

Stoped by yesterday just to ask a Noob question regarding a game my son likes. Normally I get the "do you even play video games" look at other gaming stores. To my pleasant surprise Ryan was supper helpful in explaining everything and making some solid recommendations. With service like that they have a costumer for life. This is a local store tucked away in the corner of the shopping plaza next to sprouts. Recommend you check it out. I came here to buy a PS5 which they miraculously had in stock. They told me in order to buy one I had to sign up for a year of premium membership to their online service. No one I know who has bought this from GameStop has reported anything like this. The gentleman who was working told me that this was just store policy. I have no beef with him, he was just doing what he was told. I don't know if this is even price gouging, it's a high demand product and GameStop is conveniently trying to capitalize on this and make a few extra bucks. Went in to trade some games and get a new one. Kloey was the one helping me and she was so rude I could not comprehend what she was doing working with people. When I asked if one of my games that was unopened was worth more since it had never been opened, she responded with that's not how it works, it just doesn't. And then I asked if they had a game in stock and with out looking for it she said they didn't have it because "they sold a lot of things in the past few days". Then they told me to go to another GameStop in Vista "that should" have it in stock according to their records. Sure enough, the Vista location did not have it either. The lack of interest in the customer's time, and the lack of attention to detail is unacceptable. Stuffs you can find besides video games here might be overpriced but if you can't find them anywhere else, maybe you don't have a choice, looking at some Marvel's Legends on the clearance section, clearly you can tell they aren't marked down for $19.99 because that is the regular price at any other retails, again they might be smaller business and try to make a living, I hope the practice works, they don't even let you trade in old games or consoles anymore. read more

Yesterday, I found some Wii games and went to Game Stop on Mission Marketplace to see if they could use them. Kloe (sp?) took one Wii Sports Resort and the the Wii hardware that came with the game. But she removed a motion adapter from one of the controllers - an item that is clearly needed for Wii Sports Resort. Then she asked If I want store credit or cash. I took cash. At home I looked at the games she did not take and found one I liked to play but it needs a Game Cube. I went to the Game Stop website and found they have several Game Cubes. Today, I went back to bring, again, the original box for Wii Sports Resort with the paperwork that explains that a motion sensor is required. The woman in the store was engaged in a conversation which she continued for some time before turning to talk to me. I explained that it looks like she really needs that motion adapter for the game to function - and she finally took it. Then I explained that I would like to buy a game cube and use my store credit from yesterday - and certainly give the cash back first. She told me: absolutely not.... furthermore they do not have a game cube for sale. I was surprised by her attitude, said Thank you and left. Saturday - 8:30 I was heading into the store for a trade-in and immediately after I walk in I politely said how's it going and I get "I didn't ask you how you are doing. I asked what brought you in today." I have no issues with the people that work there during the week. THOSE employees are incredibly nice, respectful and knowledgeable. I now know not to come on The weekends unless you want to deal with extremely rude people and from the manager no less. I wasn't able to get her name but she is a brunette with a tie-dye multi colored mask. Great store but the manager has some serious attitude problems. I live all the way in Chula Vista (Eastlake) and I drove all the way here to pick up a PS4 Pro. I literally couldn't find it anywhere near me - I checked Best Buy, Target, my nearest GameStop & no one had it in stock! I found out that the only GameStop that had it was here in Oceanside. I called this location and talked to Alexis. She was so sweet over the phone and had so much patience to listen my difficulties in trying to find a PS4 Pro! She welcomed me over and assisted me in holding one for me, especially since I was willing to drive an hour and a half from my home to this location! I arrived and was greeted by Ryan & Larry. Alexis was here and was just about to go on break, she was so nice enough to take the time to meet me and I was glad to thank her in person! Ryan was able to take over and ring up my purchases which include the PS4 Pro, a rewards pro card, warranty, and a PlayStation plus network! With a big purchase, Ryan was nice enough to comfort me by walking me to my car with all of my purchase. Had an awful experience with Kloey today. My husband planned to go in to the store and trade in some games while renewing his pro membership in order to utilize certain percentages off towards the pre-order of a new game. When we initially entered, Kloey complained of always being in the store alone without anything to do. When my husband walked up to the register to start the process, she immediately called another employee asking if they could look up her employee ID as she couldn't remember it. Fast forward to Kloey completely botching the entire transaction by processing the trade-ins first, and then proceeding to renew the membership on another transaction. This effectively prevented the percentage of those trade-ins to go toward my husband's new game as he'd requested and explained. She also proceeded to tell him that she couldn't pre-order the new game for him despite the fact that it is coming out next week. At this point in time, my husband was tired of trying to explain what he was trying to do to someone who was very clearly new. He asked her to go ahead and refund the membership and he'd go to a different shop. She responded that she couldn't cancel it???? Now my husband used to work for GameStop. He knows that cancellation can be done along with the pre-order of new games (hello??). When he pushed back about the cancellation, the employee proceeded to call her 'manager'. She then began lying on the call stating that she had told my husband prior to the transactions that she couldn't pre-order the game. When my husband asked her why she was lying, she proceeded to break out the crocodile tears. He quickly apologized and told her that he wasn't angry with her, but that he would appreciate if she told the truth. Instead, she very dramatically told the person on the phone that she was being harassed and told my husband that if he didn't leave, she would call the police. This entire interaction was completely unnecessary. She had mentioned that her manager was available at a different location and that if needed additional help, he should go there. So we went to the other location to speak to the manager. Turns out, the person Kloey called and who she sent us to was simply another employee. No manager, no resolution, no nothing. So now my husband is out the cost of his membership, the percentage of his trade-ins that should have gone towards a new pre-order, and the pre-order for the game itself. Absolutely terrible service and a ridiculous escalation over what was clearly this employees lack of knowledge. The fact that there was also no management to be found is insane to me. read more

This GameStop is fairly small but with the new layout and new staff I would suggest stopping in. I walked in Saturday night just to see what was in stocked for used games as I am building up my classic system libraries. The gentleman there let me know about a great sale on used systems specifically PS3. He was very friendly and didn't make me feel like he was working to make a commission sale. Wish I had his name to give him a shout out right now. I came back on Sunday looking to buy one and ran into Alexis and Aaron. Aaron rung me up and was very nice. He did not give off the attitude like I was wasting his time like you get from other stores. As for Alexis, I must say she was star of the week. I did not get her title but as someone who worked in retail in the past and was a store manager, Alexis gives off the vibe of an A+ store manager. She allowed me to look through multiple used controllers to ensure I was happy with the one I got. She also answered any of my questions. Lastly she gave the GameStop run down - powercard, games available at other stores they can look up for me, warranty etc. I never felt pressured to get anything I didn't want to. I am coming back to this store mainly because of her and her team (if she is the store manager and it is her team). read more

This is the usual GameStop location I frequent and have been going to for years. Prior experiences at this store were mostly bad in the last couple of years, owing to rude staff and poor management all around. I almost took my business to their Vista location! But I gave this store another chance and once it seemed evident that there was a turnover in staff and management for the better, I continued to buy here. With that being said, I'm writing this particular review to give a shout-out to Roger and Alexis- two employees at this store. I've had to drop in a few times in the last few weeks to pre-order some games (when your wife wants a game pre-ordered... you pre-order it) and these two advisors have gone above and beyond on numerous occasions to make me feel like I am valued as a customer. They are both resourceful and knowledgeable with their products, going out of their way to make sure that you have everything that you need. Will be back. read more

She went as far as contacting local stores where I live (more than 50 miles away) and making accommodations for me to get my product in a timely manner. Sad that I have to write this review... But this is the second time I have had a issue with picking up a pre-order early release..game release time is 9 I show up at 9:26. And was turned away . SHM so I call them , I was told that no one showed and they waited tell 9:15 . And they gotta go home. So just waste my time!? My time is worth money too!! I think it's time to start getting game from ps4 network to be honest. That way I don't hold up the employees from going home. And just a suggestion but maybe you should stop doing early release of games if you not going to be open when people come to pick up there pre ordered pre paid game. For the last years, Angie has been helping us with our pre-orders with Funko Pops, games and anime orders. She always has the best customer service, helpful and she is very informative by telling lets us what's coming out soon. She remembers what Funko pops we like and treats us feel like family. Any Gamestop you go to is busy- it is what it is. I figured for a Sunday, it wouldn't be busy- but when I walked into this one, as the norm for any Gamestop, the register line was 10-12 customers deep- with 3 different groups of people, all needing help. There were only 2 associates on staff yesterday! I was totally impressed. Not only did they hold down the fort, but they were very friendly and personable with everyone that came in, they greeted customers as they walked through the door, whenever they left the register area to go into the back- even though they were busy- they still made it a point to stop to the different groupsof people and let them know that they were there to help if they needed anything. When I finally made it up to the register- despite the fact they had a store full of people- they treated me like I was the only one there. They were totally sweet, helpful and had a high-energy/non-condescending demeanor about themselves- which I totally appreciate. There's nothing worse than having to ask for help from someone who looks like they're pissed off to be working that day. I've worked in customer service my whole life and the fact these associates kept eye-contact with their customers, a smile on their face and in their voice and remained pleasant and helpful- will keep people coming back. The store is organized well. I don't shop here often but when I do it's always easy to walk in and find what you're looking for pretty quickly and if not, an employee is happy to help you out. What was I didn't find so great the last time I visited was our cashier's attitude. Her name was Angelica. She talked me through the benefits of the membership but seemed very frustrated/offended when told we were going to pass this time. She rolled her eyes and told us "I'm just going to keep asking each time you come here," (which makes me not want to return). Was she planing on remembering our faces just for this purpose? Because if so that is very unsettling. She seemed as if she just wasn't convinced that I understood what I would be missing on, which is just not the case (I also found that her assuming that was just a bit disrespectful). I understood all the benefits, but being an "PowerUp Rewards Member" is not just a necessity for me right now, nor is it an expense that I am so eager to take on (like most people, I have greater priorities). She also doubled how long our check out process was by refusing to let us pass up on the offer. The other cashier with the glasses and short hair seemed much more friendly. I wish I had gone to him as the check out experience was the only negative part of my experience. read more

Me and a friend of mine went here to do a trade in offer on a Xbox one x that they had a good deal on at all GameStop locations. First off I'm going to set my situation up so you can understand my frustrations. I am a father of 2 young children so shopping for anything is always a chore and as always I had my two young kids with me during this trip. So I call the store asking for details on the Xbox one x the salesman on the phone gladly gives me all the details and I say thank you I will be coming in later for two Xbox one x systems he tells me great see you soon. For some reason I did not ask if he had them in stock. So we pull up an hour later I tell my buddy to run in to check if they have them in stock because I forgot to ask and I don't want to pull the kids out the car for no reason. My buddy runs in asked if they had 2 Xbox one X's because we were there to trade in some stuff to get them the salesman said yes we have them in stock. At this point my friend runs out and gives me the big thumbs up. Now I pull the kids out of the dad mobile all the games and systems proceed the lengthy process of the trade the salesman tells me I am missing a cable or 2 and if I don't have them I will loose about 30 bucks in credit so we all pile up in the car go back to the house to grab the cables and return. At this point I come back in and say we're back! Nobody purchased those systems while we were gone in a joking tone haha no says the salesman. So we start again everything is coming to an end and the manager goes to the back room to get the systems peeks in the back totally putting on a show and says something like oh we are all out!!?? Now at this point all bells are going off because I worked in the cellphone business with sleezy commission based salesman for years and know exactly what he did. Basically he opened the store this morning saw his stock and was fresh out of the biggest sales item he had but still could not send crappy numbers to his DM or he would get chewed out or reprimanded. So he keeps putting on this show comes over to my kids with a box full of cheap toys left over from old game promotions and proceeded to give them things that were not child appropriate for a 3 and or 5 year old full choking hazards and everything including a pin that has sharp edges. Now at this point I know exactly what I'm dealing with either he is a complete moron or he is a pathetic 40 year old virgin that has no business in any customer service position. So now that I know what I'm dealing with I look at my kids and see they are both hungry and just want out of there. I ask the manager to find the closest store with two units and of course it's a 40 min drive away in San Marcos. I really wanted to tell this guy to shove it but did not want to do the entire trade over again in San Marcos so I just got the credit for the games and took the systems because I would not have got the deal in San Marcos without trading the systems there. I realized this at the last moment before finalizing the trade at the Oceanside store and I'm sure that manager would have let me walk out of there not getting the full credit for the promo. So we are off to San Marcos we all pile into the car and are off. Now we reach San Marcos kids are hungry and screaming why can't we have those toys that man gave us and I reply some people give kids toys there not supposed to give them because even though he was 40 for some reason he has never encountered a child in his life. So we have a nice lunch at Chick filet and go into the San Marcos GameStop everything goes smoothly accept the saleswoman there is trying to do some strange thing where she trades in a game that I don't want to get me more credit or something more sales BS I'm sure helps her commission out in some way. I tell her I have had a long day do what you need to do to get us out of there with two Xbox one Xs finished it all up and the ordeal was over. Now I don't really blame the sales staff in all of this I blame GameStop as a company for putting them in a situation where they need to screw over the customer to hit there sales goals but on the other hand they could go work somewhere else well maybe not the 40 year old virgin who needs better acting classes but everyone else involved in this company your all on a sinking ship that just hit a giant iceberg! read more

I was trying to do Christmas shopping for my nine-year-old son. Despite knowing nothing about electronics/gaming. Needless to say I ran into multiple issues that I quite frankly had no idea how to resolve. I ended up having to go back-and-forth to the game stop 5 times and talk to them on the phone at least 3 times. I am sure that I was visibly frustrated (because I was). Despite my impatience and negativity, every one of their staff was incredibly helpful, insightful and patient with me. I just wanted to make sure that the staff that was working at GameStop last Sunday evening the 29th received the recognition they deserve. If there is a customer service award they should each get one for every time they had to deal with me. Due to your professionalism and patience you have gained a lifelong and loyal customer.
