2 days ago I came to buy games and the staff was really nice, but today I went to return one of the games, and the staff was just talking with his friend and his friend was like touching everything. I asked him to search for a game and he said to wait, because he was helping a customer. The customer left and he forgot because he was talking with his friend. My experience at this location has been horrible and completely negative. The cash register section of the store displayed complete disarray when I entered the establishment. Three male employees spent their time talking trash while being loud and ignoring all customers who entered the store. The staff here seem to really be over it when it comes to their job and helping customers. I get it -- answering the same questions over and over can be exhausting. But don't pretend like a product is out of stock just to hold it back for your friends or family. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. The employee didn't know how to complete a return and when they did it instead of giving me my case back she ended up putting it in a trade card. I told her that I spent almost $80.00 in cash and then was advised that she can't give it back to me in cash. So basically they stole my money. An hour ago, I purchased a Pokemon TCG Silver Tempest battle stadium box at this location. The box was packaged normally on the outside; however, inside of the container, the bottom side of all the packs were already open mid-way. I called the store to bring up this issue, but they said they couldn't do anything due to it being a 'final sale'. Gamestop retains the right to decide whether they accept a return or not; I understand the concept of 'final sale', but what really rustled my jimmies was how the situation was handled. They didn't ask any questions or asked me to bring the product back to inspect it. It was a done deal of being a 'final sale'. That's fine, except the product I was given was a defective product. I wasn't looking for a refund, but I did want a resolution to this issue whether it was an exchange - even if I had to pay a bit more. Originally, I wanted four individual booster packs, but one of the employees recommended the battle box to me since it contained four packs as well. I guess the additional bitterness I feel stems from this interaction since this wouldn't have occurred if I'd just gotten the individual booster packs. Oh yeah, the cost of the battle box was $1-$2 more than getting four of the individual booster packs at the current sale price. Anyway, moral of the story: you should open your TCG products in the parking lot or at the store and double check the content before leaving. read more

I showed up to just pick up my preorder, I know how GameStop policy is on warranties so I politely declined the warranty and pro renewal. The employee was nice up until I refused for the fifth time. The service here is excellent!! I went in to purchase some games for my husbands birthday and Antonio and Christian helped me out. They went out of their way to locate items from an old system in other locations. These guys know customer service, they know their stuff, and the store is clean. Came in to ask about my controller warranty as my right trigger on my Xbox controller wasn't working properly. Jaime told me to bring it in to have the controller replaced. After years of not playing Call of Duty, my PS4 was just sitting collecting dust. Needless to say I all of a sudden wanted to play and drove out to this location. Val was our helper and as soon as we walked in, we were immediately greeted even though she had about 7 other customers ahead of us. She was running back and forth attending everyone in order. Not sure if she was the only one scheduled but it was pretty busy around 4 pm. She killed it! Found the games everyone was looking for through the computer and running to the section where they are located. Some she even knew precisely where they were located without the help of the computer like WHATTTTT! She helped me sign up for the rewards program they offer with my phone number and even gave my discount that same day. Val you are a superstar and wish you the best of luck with the company. Antonio had excellent communication, made great recommendations for me because I was unable to find some games at that location and when I he even searched several locations for me. Antonio even wrote sown the locations for me. Val greets everyone when they walk through the door and has an intense focus for the job... I ordered South park fractured but whole gold edition for PS4. The order was confirmed ready for pickup so I drove about 20 mins out of my way from work there. When I got there they had a standard edition which was the wrong order. That's fine and then they pull out a GUTTED COPY and said this is the only copy they had and had the dlc code separately. Now I don't really care if that's all they had but q common courtesy is to call the customer and explain that they dont have the brand new unopened copy ready for pickup like they advertised. The employees just didnt care that I wasted my time to get there. This is one of the many reasons I stopped supporting game stop and will continue to always use this company as a last resort. I don't know. This place is weird. The people are really chill and ask if you need help but then when you do need help, they kind of belittle you when you ask questions. Like your a noob gamer. (But I've noticed most gamestops do) They really push that rewards card but I don't get games every day. I only get games if I intend to play it and have been waiting for it. The rewards don't benefit me, in any way. I've had it, I don't purchase games enough to reap the rewards lol You will get hit up for extra change by bums when you attempt to get inside the gamestop. The store is pretty spacious and clean compared to other hole-in-the wall GameStops I've been in. Allen helped us out as we traded a bunch of stuff for a new Nintendo 3DS. He also helped other customers in the store and answered questions over the phone while we were browsing the 3DS games. So I live in San Diego and I come up to Hayward every holiday to do a Christmas gift exchange with my friends here and they got me the Star Wars shock trooper helmet exclusive to GameStop. I loved it so much, I started putting it together. It came in 3 pieces and I attached the bottom 2 first, and then I realized you can't take it apart anymore. So I freaked out because I have no room to bring home the helmet put together on my carry on bag on the plane. I called the GameStop in union city and they said tough luck, we can't exchange yours for one that's not put together. I then called this GameStop and Jaime answered the phone. He said to come over and he'll take care of me. I couldn't believe the great customer service he was giving me. I told him I don't have the receipt but my friend bought it and Jaime told me he could look up if my friend used his power rewards which he did. I walked in and Noel was the one who greeted me and he told me he understood my situation and asked Jaime to grab me another helmet in the back. They were so nice, Noel looked up my friends receipt and exchanged it for me no problem. The box they gave me was a little damaged, and I saw one high up on the shelf and asked Jaime if I could check out that box and he went and grabbed a ladder right away to help bring it down for me. It ended up being more damaged than mine, but wow they were so amazing and gave me great service, I had to write a review. Don't go to the GameStop in union city. They're really rude. My first impression of ANY business is how quickly they greet their customers. The people here greet me the moment I walk in and quickly tell me to ask if I need any help. Their selection is usually great. The people at the register usually ask me about preordering things. But it's not kinda forced like most Gamestops. They ask then let it go if I pass.
