The team is always eager to help, they helped me find exactly what I was looking for.

I visited the GameStop at Sun Valley Mall today to make a simple return. I chose this location because I was already in the area and wanted to avoid making a separate trip to the Brentwood store. Unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. During the return process, the employee assisting me repeatedly pushed the Pro-Membership instead of simply processing my refund. I politely declined multiple times, approximately five or six times, explaining that I haven't had a pro-membership in several years because I rarely shop at GameStop anymore and wouldn't get enough value from it. Rather than respecting my decision, the employee, who identified himself as Caedon and stated he was the store manager, continued to pressure me. When I declined again, he told me that it would be better for me to shop online because customers who shop in-store without a pro-membership hurt their stores. His tone came across rude, condescending, and unprofessional. I understand employees are expected to promote memberships, but there is a difference between informing a customer and repeatedly pressuring them after they have clearly said no. Being told not to shop in the store because I chose not to purchase a membership was unacceptable. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this location. If this is how customers are treated by the store manager, there is a serious need for improvement in customer service. read more

Really disappointing experience. The staff was unprofessional and rude, not just to me but to the customers ahead of me as well. I was picking up an order and was rudely questioned for my ID and email address. When she claimed my name wasn't on my ID, I was confused because, of course, my name is on my ID. I really miss the other GameStop location by Kohl's. The customer service there was so much better. read more

I had a disappointing experience during my recent visit to the store. Despite 3 employees being present, no one was available to assist me. When I asked if a specific item was in stock, an employee dismissively told me to look for it myself. This lack of assistance and dismissive attitude were very frustrating. Never going back. read more

Very disappointing experience at the Sunvalley Mall GameStop with Caedon, who apparently is the store manager. I went in on a Saturday to buy a brand new Switch 2 as a gift. After I declined a $100 Nintendo gift card upsell (that he can get at "discount" somehow), he added a paid Pro upgrade to the transaction without asking or getting my permission. I only caught it because I saw it on the register screen. Upselling is fine. Adding a paid membership without clear customer consent is not. read more

Unacceptable. Read reviews. For my two visits, the female manager was WAY too pushy for the membership to a point it's annoying. My partner and I agree it stops us from wanting to come here. Products are also a mix of MSRP & severely overpriced. On top of this, people are pretty much getting overcharged left and right without their permission. read more

Super excited to see GameStop run a Halloween freebie for kiddos! Went today for kids to pick up a booster pack. Kids waited patiently for their turn and were super exited to see the boy in front of them get a booster pack, activity sheet and candy. When it was their turn, they politely asked for the Pokémon cards. The member of staff (Rosa per receipt) took my number and politely gave each of them a booster pack and an activity sheet. She also kindly offered me scissors for the origami activity. I declined and mentioned that they will do it later as I had to take my daughter to gymnastics to which she responded that we had to complete the activity in the store and the camera has recorded our faces?!?! I was extremely taken aback and then took the kids to the tables to complete the activity. Since when did receiving a freebie meant we had to complete an activity onsite? Additionally, why did she have to threaten me with saying that the camera has recorded our faces? I was clearly not trying to hide my face since I did not have any facial covering. Extremely unprofessional and really made me wonder about fair treatment since the kid in front of us left the store immediately after receiving the Pokémon Booster Pack and additional freebies like candy yet I was treated like a criminal when my children did the same. Should have driven to another Game Stop. Definitely won't be coming back. read more

Rosa was super rude. This GameStop has really gone downhill. I've noticed over time it's gotten dirtier and less organized, but the true disappointment is the customer service. I have had a number of occasions where the employees here have been SO pushy. But today especially I encountered a female employee (don't remember the name, sorry) who absolutely demanded for an ID, phone number, and email without ANY explanation at all. She was extremely rude to me and the two customers before me. One of them asked why she needed this information and she simply said "well you need it to buy it so." What? You need an ID to buy a toy? When she got to me of course she returned to whoever was on hold over the phone before greeting me, and just pointed to the key pad. She asked for a phone number and I didn't have an account so she asked for another. I asked "do I have to sign up for anything right now?" To which she replied simply "yes" with dead pan expression. She was so blunt it was astounding. I have never had such a rude employee speak to me this way. Then she demanded to see my id to which again I tried to avoid but she wouldn't sell me my POKEMON. PLUSHY. without it. I would have argued with her to h3ll if I wasn't on a time crunch to buy a gift. I think she didn't give me a receipt on purpose so I couldn't get her name. I'm so disappointed and I'll be sure to never come again, or maybe I will just to get her name and complain. Bye. read more

Rosa who claims to be a manager is extremely rude and escalates situations versus trying to actually help customers. She is loud, aggressive, and has a lot of attitude. She was also rude to her employees infront of customers. She refused to honor a promo that is being offered on trade ins stating I needed to call customer service and tell them their marketing isn't clear. The promo offered trade in of a controller for the value of a new one. I was offered 15.00 and when I questioned the value I asked to see a new 15.00 controller which they couldn't produce as new controllers are not 15.00. Avoid this store and wasting time with their bait and switch tactics. Rosa should not be a manager let alone an employee if they can't talk to customers or their own employee in a respectful manner. read more

The employees here need a huge overhaul. My family came in looking for something specific, unfortunately this particular store doesn't sell the same thing as the one in Fairfield. When I asked the first female employee I came across she was so quick to say, "I don't even know what that is." No "I'm sorry we don't carry that" or any type of customer service. Then when we were ready to check out the line was three customers deep and only one employee was working the register. The other female (?) employee was on the phone for about 10-15 minutes on a personal call. The man in front of me bought a pre-owned PS5 and he was asking about if he really needed to buy PS Plus. Again, female employee #1 was quick to say, "I don't know. I don't play PlayStation I play X-Box." Okay??? This is a video game store, she should have a working knowledge of various consoles right? Or is that expecting too much?? When it was our turn to check out my son just so happened to want a PS5 controller. At first he wanted black, but she said they didn't have that color. Why even have out as an option to buy then?? It'd be so easy to take out the cardboard sign so customers know it isn't available at this time. Again, I'm expecting too much I guess. She then tried to sell us a warranty on the controller for $15/year. I declined and she rudely said, "Okay, see you in 6 months then. I've had to replace my PS5 controllers 3 times." What? So she is either lying to me or she was lying to the guy in front me. Towards the end of our transaction a male employee with shoulder-length hair interrupted us to greet the other two female employees at the register. Absolutely no respect or professionalism. We left as quickly as we could, but my daughter unfortunately left her water bottle on the counter. We came back and saw there was a long line. Female employee #1 was the only one helping customers, female employee #2 was doing her own thing, and the male employee was sitting at the register eating. I approached him and asked him for the water bottle we left which we could clearly see on their back counter. He looked at me like I was the rude one for interrupting his snack break. He said nothing to me, grabbed the water bottle by the mouth piece, and handed it to me. I had the misfortune to see his hands up close and it looked like he spent the morning gardening without gloves. Gross!!! Experiences like this make me want to depend on online shopping more and more. Employees are no longer expected to have customer service skills, professionalism, or basic hygiene. read more

Visited the store today today with my kids. They beelined right to the switch games while I looked into the selection of older games. I found a Gameboy SP console in the locked case. I approached the cashier and asked it was one of the backlit ones. She said she didn't know and refused to open the case to check or allow me to check. I had every intention on purchasing it, but she treated me like a criminal because I wanted to see an item before purchase. This isn't how you treat customers. read more

If you think you've experienced lazy , unprofessional , bad customer service , wait till you hit up the gamestop in concord at the sunvalley mall. I've walked into this store several times , there's always been huge lines and you know i get it , places are busy , there's just one person at the cash register but why are there other employees talking to that employee as they're ringing up customers whilst eating frozen yogurt on the sales floor in front of customers ? There is also this one worker , this trans worker , who is rude asf , yesterday for whatever reason , they decided it was okay to have a conversation with some friends for 5+ minutes at the cash wrap as there was a line and the person next was struggling to carry the cold red bulls that they offer. There's a black guy with an afro who was eating frozen yogurt at the cash wrap , in front of a line of customers without offering any sort of assistance and sounding so absolutely bothered whenever customers would ask questions about product. The transgender individual is just rude and could use some better customer service + also learn to not talk to their friends while there is customers waiting to be rung up and there's another dude in there with short black curly hair , light skin , who's constantly rude as well and needs to learn better customer service. It seems like there's several other reviews on him. read more

Tricked (deceiving sales tactics and blames it on the kid not knowing) my kid into purchasing there $4.99 1-warranty for her little nightmare 3 game and won't even refund the service! They said the price $49.99 ($39.99 was the real price) was because of the bag fee but failed to say the warranty. I guess they really need to get their bonus at my price of tricking my child. They said we knew when we checked out. Lairs!!!! They said their system locked them out to process a refund due to the debit card! Karma is a bish, wait and see.... There is a reason your business is failing and it's not just the rise of digital purchases. People just don't want to be bothered by your bulk-spit. Here is an example of my interaction today while purchasing a new game: ("GS" is the extremely pushy GameStop employee, and "M" is me) Gs: "I have that game for you right here. Let's get your phone number" M: "#" Gs: "Looks like your premium account has expired. Let's get you hooked up today for just 15 dollars" ($15 is added on the POS screen before I can even respond) M: "no thanks" Gs "hear me out, blah blah" M: "no thanks" Gs: "blah blah blah" M: "no I don't want it" Gs: "but blah blah blah (points to chart)." M: "again no" Gs: "why don't you want the membership?" M: "cuz I just don't" Gs: "do you buy your games online" M: "I just dont want the membership, I dont come here often" Gs: "but blah blah blah" M: "dude I barely play games" (lies but I just want him to stop) Gs: "okay, do you want insurance for $7" M: "No thanks" Gs: "well you never know it might get scratched" M: "No" Gs: "well you never know (shakes the game violently, so much I can here the disc sliding around inside) sometimes these games get scratched during delivery" M: "please stop" You guys are horrible and you should all be cursed. I will never come here ever again. And people, you shouldn't either. These guys are just trying to swindle you at every turn. Don't buy into it. I feel terrible for old people trying to buy a game for their grandkid. You're a bad business and you should be punished. I will smile when they are all shut down, which is coming soon guys. So you better get your resume' going to submit to the Pokémon card stores or something. read more

I've had some bad retail experiences before, but what happened at this GameStop takes the cake. Every time I come in, the same guy aggressively pushes the Pro Membership on me, to the point where it feels less like shopping and more like being cornered by a salesman. Today I tried to cut it off before it started--I politely said I wasn't interested. Instead of respecting that, the guy got visibly upset and kept pushing anyway, like "no" wasn't an option. When I refused to answer his sales questions, he actually got angry and kicked me out of the store. Imagine being told to leave simply because you don't want a membership. This kind of behavior is completely unprofessional and hostile. Customers shouldn't be treated like they're stupid or unwelcome just for declining a loyalty program. GameStop needs to seriously rethink how it trains its staff and how much pressure it puts on them to sell memberships, because right now it's creating a toxic experience that drives people away. read more

The manager is very pushy on memberships. If you don't get it he's rude and tries to argue with you. Never supporting this place again with a guy like that running the shop. Only reason the still afloat is because you're located in a shopping mall with a lot of foot traffic. Get a job as a realtor not for a damn game store. Bad shopping experience. read more

This was the worst in-store experience I have ever had in my life. Upon attempting to check out two games with my little brother, the cashier said "We're going to sign you up for Pro," without saying anything else. When they asked me to confirm the purchase, there was a 15 dollar charge for Pro, and I asked him to take it off, saying I wasn't interesting. Then, they and other worker started rambling about how good of a deal it is, interrupting me whenever I said no. After finally taking off the charge, they then did the same thing for the insurance, which took my multiple attempts to convince them I didn't want. This entire time, the second worker (had short curly black hair) kept asking nagging questions trying to convince me to buy the extras, repeating "Do you guys not even buy games? Where do you buy your games," over and over again to which I gave short answers like "Sometimes" or "Wherever" because all I wanted to do was buy my games and get out of what was becoming an increasingly aggressive and hostile interaction from the workers. After ignoring the unending questions and looking only at the cashier and not at the second employee harassing me, he said "Why are you being so rude? We're people too, you have to treat us with dignity" to which i responded "I was trying to be respectful, you are being aggressive and ignoring me saying no" he then responding by rudely telling me I was not welcome in the store and after I leave I should not ever return, which is an interesting response to someone not wanting to buy your premium membership. I will never bring any business here ever again, and will encourage others to do the same, the employee with short curly hair should never be allowed to work in any position where they are able to talk to customers, they will drive away any and all business. read more

I want to give zero stars. I don't know her name. The Asian tall lady wears a cap with a hoodie so rude to her attitude that works in the store. No customer service. She was telling people in the store she needed to go to her lunch and then she said no rush and take your time to shop a minute later she said she had to go to lunch now you have to go. I don't understand why she was telling me not to rush and then a minute later she rushed me out to the store with attitude. When I was walking out the store she had another co-worker back to the shop. The Asian lady told her co-worker, that she doesn't need her stupid sign-out anymore That is so unprofessional. If you have other co-workers why do you have to rush everybody out of the store? I think they don't care about the business! The owner needs to hire someone else who can give customer service. This is my updated review of this Gamestop. This is currently my favorite Gamestop since all the staff here are always helpful, professional and friendly. I came here wanting a specific game and Michelle really helped me out. She is awesome and is very knowledgeable of upcoming games . Her personal knowledge on the upcoming releases also convinced me to make 2 additional pre-orders for some upcoming games. This is my go to place if I want to get that special version of the game (I purchased the collector's version of god of war Ragnarok here) or an accessory. The people here always do their best to help me find what I'm looking for. While I have been to other GameStops in the area, I find this one to be the best because of its store hours and its staff. Again, thanks Michelle. You're the best! read more

I'm currently battling with Gamestop (Hayward location) over an issue with a console that I purchased from them, and I had planned on cutting all ties with them, however, in the midst of this battle, I had a very positive encounter with the sun valley mall location. The manager Tim there went out of his way and even stayed late in order to help me buy the game that I wanted. He didn't have to do it, but he did it and you don't get that sort of treatment really any where these days. Tim is awesome, and I highly recommend you go to the sun valley mall gamestop for all your gaming wants/needs. Thanks again Tim!!!! read more

I used to work for Gamestop for a solid 3 yrs and I know how sometimes putting on a smile can be hard when its slow or busy. Either way, these days I visit a GameStop once or twice a year but it's nice to see they continue to hire hardworking gentle and kind people. I'm not sure why this location has such a low rating. It's clean, the staff is nice and they seemingly have everything in order from what I can see. Mall locations are hard because you get a lot of the casual lookers and people coming to take their aggression out from an experience they had at another store. You don't get that vibe from this location, thanks Stephen for being a friendly and helpful guy. read more

I'd recommend going to a different location if you are able to. It's now 10:52am on a Friday. Allegedly this store should be open at 10am, like the rest of the mall. It most definitely is still closed. I came to this location specifically to buy a birthday present for my niece, but I will be taking my business elsewhere since the employees don't have the sense to open the store on time. I understand that circumstances arise, but still being closed 50+ minutes after opening time is unacceptable! See you soon, other locations that are more reliable :) read more

The people who work there are retarded. I went in there looking to buy FEAR the day it came out. When I asked the guy behind the counter if they had it, he replied "No man, we sold out. You aren't going to find that game anywhere....you want to reserve Superman Returns?!" "No thanks." I told him as I left. I walked right next door to Target and they had at least 25 copies of FEAR. Another time I went there to buy God of War 2 and the same thing happened. They didn't have it, but he sounded really excited when he asked me if I wanted to reserve some other weak game. Again I told him no thanks, and I was going to try elsewhere. He let out a very sarcastic "Pfft....Good luck buddy." So I went to Fry's across down the street and got a copy. read more
