I don't like leaving negative reviews for small businesses, especially when they're competing with large companies. However, my experience with Game Smash was disappointing. I brought in my son's Nintendo Switch because it wasn't projecting to the TV when docked. I was told it was an easy fix and would cost $100, so I left it for repair. A few days later, I was informed that additional damage was found and the cost would go up to $140 for a new board. While I understood that things can change during a repair, I was frustrated that this possibility wasn't mentioned up front. I was told, "I've worked on 10,000 Switches and this has only happened three times," which just felt like an excuse. As someone who also sells products, I believe in being transparent with customers--even about worst-case scenarios. That wasn't the case here. Eventually, they agreed to return to the original $100 price, but the staff became rude. When I came to pick up the Switch and asked to test it, the employee was visibly annoyed, acting as if it was a burden. To top it off, the replacement board hadn't even been factory reset--an example of poor attention to detail. I really wanted to support a local business, but this experience left a bad impression. Scam likely store at best. Do not waste your time looking at this store. It has 2 Stars for a reason. Took my gf's ps5 to get fixed for an HDMI issue. staff was okay but definitely far from good. Got the ps5 fixed, it ran for 5 months until my screen started to flicker every time it was turned on. Went back to get it fixed again and they respond after fixing it by saying " same issue ". They also didn't tell us about the warranty they had which is only three months. Went home to use the ps5 only to find out that my controller will disconnect after 5 seconds of connecting it to the ps5. Took it to another repair shop to find out they disconnect a wire that allows the ps5 to connect to your controller and the HDMI port was also a little loose. In conclusion, don't try this scam store. They suck TLDR: Scam Likely store that will keep bringing you back for repairs read more

I have come here a few times and haven't had a bad experience the staff seem nice. I went to buy games for my Nintendo. Researching later this game was similar to what I found online some places may have had it cheaper but then theirs shipping which did put it roughly same price. I feel definitely do your research before coming but it is a hit and miss on pricing some items I can get cheaper elsewhere. My son at one point was going to have them take a look at his game boy fair warning they only take cash for the deposit or something and he had to cancel. Had to take my controller back twice when I asked for it to be cleaned. After the second time it was still sticky and not functioning properly so I but the bullet and bought another. Fast forward a year or so later, I kept the controller to use for spare parts and when I finally took it apart, I noticed there was two screws that weren't replaced and there's still residue left underneath some of the basic nomenclature you remove in the very beginning of the tear down.... TLDR: don't have then clean your controllers, either buy another one or send it to the manufacturer... read more

The stores offer a good selection but do not sell to them if you have old games. So I went in to the store to sell old games and a Xbox 360 and was offered 40 dollars for everything. I had about 20 original Xbox games and 20 360 games. The 360 they offered 5 DOLLARS!!!! The most they offered for an Xbox game was .60 cents. One of these games I sold was Gauntlet dark legacy which they bought for .25 cents which they're selling for 37.99 that's over a 15000% profit percentage even gamestop offers better value for their trade ins. They need to rework their prices to at least 10% of what they sell them for. If you have games to sell look elsewhere until they rework the pricing because it's horrible. I was diligent about researching and reaching out to multiple stores for the best return on my collection of games, signed/authenticated memorabilia, consoles, and more. I was very impressed by the responsiveness and information given by 'Darrel' at Game Smash located in Avondale, who said 'On average we give around 50-60% but when buying large amounts of games we give a little extra.' This is a great offer and one definitely worth looking into. I snapped photos of my collection and provided pictures to which Darrel responded, "Taking a quick look through the collection, it looks like a decent collection of everyday games. Just a quick pricing would be about $500 to $600 for the collection, but it could be more once I see it in person and price it out." This was an excellent return considering I was looking through Ebay and other means which priced my items at an upward of $1600.00. I took the trip which was over an hour drive to the other side of the valley, waiting patiently for over 2 hours and in the end offered $350 only. This is not the return percentage that was discussed and in the conversation the percentage of 50-60% potentially more, was not honored. It was a lure, it was a lie. I was infuriated to know that the time and travel spent was not worth my time at all. I do not suggest falling for the scam of this store as it left me feeling robbed and more importantly lied to. These three employees were unenthusiastic when greeting every customer. We were almost a burden for being in their store. The employee checking my items was very distracted in talking and helping other customers while his co-worker that clearly didn't do much in the way of help, just pretended to look busy, helping only when the third employee (micro manager off to the side) would get involved. The micro manager off to the side simply acted as though he was working on another PC while watching his employees closely over his glasses. The glare over his specs were almost a look of distrust, as if he didn't even trust his own employees. Anytime a customer would be inquiring about a specific item they had for sale (most items were overpriced on the resale side) this mirco manager would simply slide into the conversation to give a clear and definite answer so there was no confusion who was in charge. I had a game called Monster Hunter Rise, which they were selling for $55 used and they only offered me $15 that was in immaculate condition. I understand wear and tear and other factors, so I don't overvalue items when I know their average worth. I have messenger conversation through Facebook and receipts to prove my unfortunate experience and want to warn others of this scam. In my case, my vehicle needed repairs and this was the only liquidation to cover the repairs. I made arrangements for a ride to this uneventful and frustrating fiasco. DON'T SELL YOUR COLLECTIBLES HERE. Edit: Since this incident I was contacted by "Darrel" and told to communicate via email. Whomever is on the other side of these emails has not only been unresponsive but also extremely unapologetic for the confusion brought on by there employees. So I had my disc reader changed ,had no problem with it. Some reason didn't want to read or load up any ps1 games. Wanted to trade in over 80 videos/ accessories but they didn't accept drop off so that means I would have to wait in the small store while they help other customers and wait for them to make up prices for each individual game. I talked with Ken on OfferUp about swapping arcade machines, sent him a video of the machine working and he told me to come down. After asking a couple friends to help load the cabinet and drive for 45 minutes - Daniel, the store owner called Ken and gave him a description of my cabinet. Works great, CRT works great, guns fire. Daniel hung up the phone and told me Ken will swap but he wants another $100. I tried calling Ken but he didn't answer. I sent a text, but no response. I went to speak to Daniel about Ken not answering, who then told me that Ken is no longer interested and doesn't want to talk to me. Confused, I wasn't sure why - Daniel said he isn't interested because the bottom of the cabinet needed a kick plate and he didn't want to take on any other projects. Feeling like I just had my time wasted, Ken said that he would SUE me if I posted a negative review. He said he has a 'Partnership' with Ken but he is the only member of the LLC and Ken just stores his arcade machines there. Both Ken and Daniel appear to run an overpriced, shady business. I would NEVER recommend this store to anyone, ever!!! Ken also informed me that he doesn't have his own business??? But that he stores machines at other gaming stores - but for obvious reasons wouldn't tell me which ones. I just unpacked two old game consoles and couldn't get either one working. After taking both in, the two gentlemen on staff went above and beyond to not only troubleshoot the issues and fix them on the spot, but also offered cheap solutions to keep both consoles running versus trading them in for next to no money. Aside from the solid game selection, the staff assisted in selecting popular games for future families for years to come. We had a good experience. My sons PS4 was overheating and would not play games. We brought it in on Saturday and they did a really thorough cleaning and was done on Sunday. Unfortunately, when we took it home Sunday it was still having the issue. So we took it back and they said they would look at it again. They replaced the fan for no additional cost and it is working great now. Everyone was very friendly and professional during my visit. This gaming store is really awesome! My son brought in my 7 yr old grandson's Supernintendo video game, Mario Kart, to see why it wasn't working properly. In a matter of a few minutes, their technician knew what was wrong and fixed it. He soldered a chip on the motherboard and "Wallah!", fixed and ready for play! The staff there is super friendly and helpful. So many items to choose from. Although I'm not a gamer myself, this store would be a gamers heaven with all that is offered here! I used to be a pretty regular customer here around 2-3 years ago, hell I think I even gave them a good review when I started going. Never really stopped but just came in less frequently. I used to love this store but over time its gone more and more downhill. The manager, Dan is constantly keeping prices high and is always and I mean ALWAYS looking to scam you. Any negative feedback is responded to by him thinking competition is trying to run him out of business. He constantly reprices games (even ones that are seconds away from being checked out and paid for) to make them grossly overpriced. I bought an n64 controller from them a few years back and when I got home and plugged it in I found out they had sold me one with a faulty control stick. Once I took it back (same exact day), Dan himself charged me to repair a faulty item that THEIR STORE sold me. And their repair prices are absolutely insane for even minor repairs. Youre better off watching a youtube video and doing repairs yourself than going here. Literally any other game store is better than this hell hole that keeps burying itself more and more by their incompetent, greedy and all around scummy manager. read more

Wow... Signs everywhere that they will exchange defective items with no issues, then they will refuse for any and all reasons. Owner won't even come out of the back to resolve the issue. Dude has no idea what customer service is. Also they tell you that you need to enter your phone number to Warranty or return any items.
