Came in to buy some product, super overpriced; ask if there's was any wiggle room if I was to buy multiples of things and they completely dusted me off; gave me really bad attitude. This is probably one of the worst places with customer service I ever seen. Acted like I disrespected the whole place for saying this product can be found cheaper at another place, told me to go there and buy it and walked away lol. Fat guy who works there needs to understand how customer service work, it's one thing to say they aren't able to drop the price, but don't speak to me as if I wasnt interested in buying products. Do not buy loose packs of Pokémon from this place. They weigh their packs. They also charge scalper prices on everything else.

This place claims that they buy magic and Pokémon cards which is not the case they buy only rare carts the girl that's in there doesn't even use the scanner she just looked at the card and sees it it's an uncommon card and it's not gold or reddish colored and just kicked him out she has he know that she threw out a $27 card Seems like they just don't want to work all they're trying to do is cherry pick they're not any for helping the customer or doing what they say they're going to do by buying cards they're just cherry picking for the cars that people don't know about I wouldn't recommend this place to anybody I drive 30 minutes before I came here again you applied for this job it wasn't a draft act like you want to be there!!! read more

I have been here countless times with a bundle of friends. Every time, we get recognized by the staff there. And without fail, we are greeted with friendly smiles and welcoming words. I've spent an ungodly amount of money and have never left upset. This place is phenomenal, the only "negative" thing is since I've only ever seen three workers, and the place gets swamped often. Didn't even go into the store as I was put off by the rude person answering the phone. I called to ask if their store carried any Warhammer products and was rudely told by the girl that answered "No we do not" then hung up on. I get that this place is Magic-centric, but there isn't any need to sound annoyed about someone asking if something is carried in stock. I have always had a great opinion about this place. When I was hard up for cash they would buy my collection slowly but by bit For the most part I felt it was fair. But the last time I tried to sell to them they literally tried to steal some rare first edition Yu-Gi-Oh cards from me after already ripping me off on pokemon cardsPokemon cards. They originally stated yeah we didn't take any of the Yu-Gi-Oh but when I got back to my car I realized they not only took some Yu-Gi-Oh cards but they took first edition ones worth quite a bit. And tried to play stupid when I confronted them. Claiming they didn't realize they were not first edition. You literally have to change tcg from first edition to unlimited to get the unlimited price. And for a card shop that has been there so long to not know how use the program they always use Is either sad or complete bs. Which they never have had a problem before telling the difference. And they originally said they took no Yu-Gi-Oh. Well they did quite a few and then told us they wanted 5 dollars back. After getting home I did my math for the pokemon I turned in alone I should of gotten just shy of 50 dollars at the price they state they give. I got 15 and was still missing some Yu-Gi-Oh .... Oh well I really really liked that place and the people that ran it untill all this. I mean they never once actually gave the percentage they claim to but that didn't bother me cause they would.come close and I looked at it like I really like the place and people I do not.mind taking a.loss for their gain as I want them to be around for as long as possible but if they think you don't know what you got price wise be aware they will try to con you rip you off and even steal from you. read more

Play or Draw (PoD) is probably the best hobby shop I have ever been to. Excellent inventory, terrifically clean and well organized space, lots of well attended events. To be completely honest, if I wasn't in grad school I would say it is easily always worth the drive. The owners, Joe and Andrew, are very helpful and have extensive knowledge about their main product, magic. In fact, Joe used to play on the professional tour. They're also there every day. They're pretty much the only two people working there which makes you feel like you're really getting to know the people running the business. This shop is terrific for: Standard Modern EDH PPTQs SCG IQs Any sort of other relatively large tournaments hosted in AZ They also fire legacy and draft every so often. Pretty much every player in Arizona knows about this place so if you're new to the area or passing through, definitely check it out. Went in to look at board games and needed some help with a couple different games. One employee was working the register and chitchatting with a guest and one employee was a gal who seemed bored to be there and was standing behind the counter not making eye contact so I couldn't talk to her and one gentleman employee was talking to a guest about her daughter dancing at Disneyland. I waited for 20 minutes and no one offered to help so I just left. I am all for supporting local and would love to have bought from there. But now I'm going to go on Amazon. This is why stores like this are dying and Amazon is alive and well. What a bummer. read more

I love this place for so many reasons. Firstly, the store itself. It is so roomy, well lit, and clean. There are plenty of tables and comfortable chairs - ones with cushion, instead of the metal folding chairs so often used in game stores. The ceilings are high and everything is spread out so well that it doesn't feel cramped. They have probably the biggest collection of Magic cards that I have seen in a local store. Great variety, and very good prices. The players are nice as well, always willing to help out those who are less experienced. It's a very friendly atmosphere. The owners are awesome. We brought in a board game and one of the guys sat down to learn it, then he ordered a copy to stock in the store. When we needed a shade of paint that they didn't have, the owners special ordered it for us. I'm so glad to finally have a gaming store on this side of town. read more

Play or Draw (PoD) is the best shop in AZ, by far. They have everything in stock 99% of the time. The owners, Joe and Andrew, are both nice guys and accomplished Magic players. They're more than happy to give deck building and playing advice, when they have time. In fact, you can frequently find them drafting with anyone who wants to learn how to play. Furthermore, PoD has one of best player communities I've ever seen. Everyone is friendly and welcoming to both veteran and new players alike. However, there is a high skill cap at this shop. Many of the players at PoD are competitive and have multiple tournaments under their belt. Nevertheless, these same players are very friendly and willing to give advice to anyone who asks. If you're looking to improve as a magic player, you couldn't ask for a better community. Ultimately, this shop has the whole package. I've been to many of the shops in AZ, and while they're all good, Play or Draw is noticeably the superior shop. If you're looking for a Magic or gaming shop in Arizona, the stocked inventory, knowledgeable and friendly owners, and excellent community at Play or Draw can't be beat. read more

The Valley has a ton of gaming stores that specialize in Magic, but I really think this one is the best of the best. It's a shame I'm not closer to them, or else this would probably be the store where I play most often. Gigantic play area loaded with very comfy chairs and full-length playmat covered tables (The fact that their playmats are still in like-new shape is a testament to how well they take care of their store appearance wise.) I didn't count, but it seems like they could easily and comfortably seat at least 50 people and probably closer to 100. As far as stock, the owner makes it clear online that they stock almost every Magic card available and he's not kidding. I've never seen quite a selection of staple cards in every format and the prices on the few cards I asked about were very fair. Definitely the type of place you want to be stocking up on store credit to grab just about anything you need. They've got a pretty solid collection of obscure games and gaming accessories, too. If you're into the tabletop or carboard lifestyle, this is a place you want to be familiar with. read more

Great store and great atmosphere. I came in about noon to just play one game with a friend. There was plenty of open seating and tables to play on. I didn't check much of the inventory but I did purchase an X-wing miniature for my game while I was there. The selection for X-wing miniatures was decent and was fairly priced for small expansion packages. It was Saturday and there was about four other groups there playing cards. On top of when I received what I thought was a fake revised dual land from an online trader they where more than happy to look at it and tell me yes it was fake. Second time I've been into this shop and I was not impressed. Customer service was bad. The first time we came in they seemed irritated that we wanted to know the prices of some of the products. They told us they used eBay low prices in a way that was very off putting, I'm asking because we wanted to buy the $200 set, but we ended up finding it cheaper ON EBAY. This led me to believe they aren't using accurate pricing. The girl had no idea what anything was. When we came back the second time it took 23 minutes before anyone asked us if they could help us. It was not that they were busy, the guy who finally helped us out was sitting at a table playing a table top game with some people. They were using profanity and it was all very unprofessional. While we were there 2 other groups came in and were also ignored. I'll take my business elsewhere from now on. Maybe somewhere that knows how to treat paying customers. read more

This store has the largest selection of cards in the valley and offers the most fair prices for both cash and trades. Their events are some of the most organized I have ever played in.
