did horrible work for way to much didn't bother giving usthe well cover we paid for leaving a huge hole in my back yard. didnt prime or seal the egress window, plants and animals climbed in through window seal openings. a ligitimate contractor told me it wasn't primed or sealed. charges way over whats normal, ie other contractors I spoke to since. also found out from contractor that fixed his work that he didn't pull permits or do anything to code. his team also dumped what seemed like 100 pounds of broken up concrete in my backyard which I had to end up lugging away myself. read more

You're going to love these people if: - you don't mind having to pick out new materials because the contractor changed suppliers, - you don't mind getting permits yourself, - you don't mind paying extra (after the contract is signed) for licensed professionals to do the work (or fix code violations) instead of whoever they send over, - you just LOVE having subcontractors walk on your clean floors (despite promises that all workers will lay down tarps), - you don't mind waiting 10+ months for a "three week" job, - you are happy with shoddy workmanship, - you really enjoy taking time off for someone to do a job, just to have nobody call or notify you that nobody is coming, - your idea of a good time is dealing with all sorts of frustration (this is just a sample of the numerous problems we had) And our bathroom remodeling job was very small. I hired these people as I had a flood in my kitchen. They were supposed to extract the water in my kitchen and bedroom for $500, 6-8 hours. They sent an employee who spent an hour and only did a 4X8 area. In addition, I needed to replace the fascia around the tope of my house. It was suggested I put tarp over it to keep the water out until I could replace the fascia. Their employee (same one) nailed the tarp into my tin roof causing it to leak all over. Cost $250 In addition, they installed a new floor in my kitchen. The day after it was installed, nails popped up all over, the wet quarter round was re-installed and I found out the same employee damaged the toe kick at the bottom of my cabinet. In spite of telling Mr. Gallagher that I was amenable to having another employee straighte out the issues, he refused to send another contract. Cost $700 I subsequently had to hire another contractor to straighten out all the issues. I filed a small claims action against them. They did not show up in court and I got a judgment against them for $1975 which, as of the date of this post, has not been paid. It cost me an addition $2800 to repair all the issues with their work. I have filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau, the Village of Frankfort and the Illinois Attorney General's office. I am a senior citizen on a fixed income and Gallagher devastated me financially. read more

I contracted with Gallagher on May 23, 2016 to rebuild my 12 x 13 deck. As of today, July 15, 2016, they have had half the money that I put down but nothing has happened. When they took my money, it was going to be 2 -3 weeks and now we are on 2 -3 months and I was told this morning that "we still don't have a crew". First, it was because of the weather. More recently, Ken, the owner called to tell me, over 1 month later, that the color and product that I chose wasn't available and I would have a 2-tone deck because of it. He sent out someone last Friday who showed me new samples and I picked another color. I asked him when they could start and he said someone would call me on Monday to discuss that. No one did. Their website looks great! The person who answers the phone is wonderful. The people who come out to estimate are prompt and professional. The people who come to measure make you want to make lemonade and cookies. But after they take your money, that's the end of it. You never hear from them again unless you call them. read more

my first review was done after my work was completed it has not been a year since my work was done and i have at issues with the grout falling out they repaired a few spots and the repaired grout does not match. Now i have more grout falling out i contacted them(also shared pictures ) starting on dec 27,2017 and as of today march 1st 2018 the issues have not been repaired and it one excuse after another why they have not come to fix it when i signed my contract with them i was given a 8 YEAR WARRANTY really thank god its only the grout what a mistake i made i should of stayed with the the little guys for this remodel but was afraid of them going out of business stupid me this remodel was not cheap over $18,000 .00 i should of realized something wasn't right when 3 i had different project managers because they either were fired or quit . now i have to pay someone else to come out and regrout my whole shower . The main reason why I hired this company is because they claim to be a minority women-owned business and, I like to support woman in business. This company however, falsely advertises who they claim to be! I paid Gallagher Construction Group, Lisa Marie Jobbe, to replace my roof. I paid $10,000.00 him more than the required percentage as a down payment to begin the work on my home. After several phone call and e-mail, he also, bullied the customer when asking the question or through the e-mail when the job will begin the work! Instead, he stated that I had to pay him an additional $400.00 before he can start the job. This Gallagher Construction Group are a fraud! Do Not Hire this company to do any work! They target people, take their money then the work never gets done! From my recent research, he has done this to other customers as well! I hired an attorney! Hope he gets exactly what he deserves! I filled out a request online about a month ago for a quote on a roof repair. We've never dealt with contractors in the past but I was a bit surprised when I realized they were calling me 15 minutes later. I was at work but the lady on the phone was very friendly and offered to call my wife for scheduling. They sent someone out the next day to take a look and give us a few numbers of what we would be looking at. We were hoping to have the repairs done within a few days but they said they needed a solid week to schedule and they did follow through with that timeline. I would definitely use Gallagher in the future and recommend to others. read more

I had Gallagher Construction Group install a roof. They filled out the paper work for the insurance and I thought everything was great and then I experienced some problems so I went up on the roof to check what he problem. I found they did not caulk where the roof meets the side of the house. I called them to have them to correct the problem. They said they would but they never showed. Now I have to pay someone else to come in and fix the problem they caused. I am seeing if my insurance deductible will be greater than the cost to repair. THIS IS AN UPDATE post ON THE SAGA OF GALLAGHER CONSTRUCTION COMPANY. AVOID DOING BUSINESS HERE!!! OR MY STORY COULD BE YOUR NIGHTMARE TOO! If I could give negative stars, I would. So this nightmare will not end. All I would like them to do is to do what is stated in the contract that we both signed after waiting a year on a project that should have taken 3 WEEKS, AND A YEAR LATER, IT IS STILL NOT RESOLVED, and fix any damage they caused to my house​ BY THEM which is extensive because of doing work not up to industry​​y standards.(YES I HAVE PICTURES). Interestingly enough, I also was given notice from a worker who stated they had not been paid. I contacted a lawyer regarding this issue and the fact Gallagher was in breach of contract after a year later on a "three week project". While we were playing phone tag with my lawyer, I got a mechanic's lien notice from Sunbelt rentals that they were going to "put a lien​ on my house​" if Gallagher did not pay them for the use of their services (boom and scaffolding in the post mentioned earlier Nov 2017). I paid Gallagher for their services per the contract. The rest will be paid per the contract when they finish the job per the contract. This was very upsetting. Sunbelt Rentals​ is the company that​ Gallagher subcontracted with to​ rent scaffolding and a boom. After much communication with Sunbelt, I was told I was not the only one who got a notice and they had NOT been paid "one penny" on my project AND others PROJECTS. I AM NOT ALONE! This is not just "my issue" on "my project". Other clients of Gallagher construction​ company are dealing with​ the ​ same issue, according to what I was told by both Gallagher and Sunbelt. I paid Gallagher per the contract. I have copies of all money paid. Gallagher has not paid Sunbelt Rentals. This story of not doing work on time and quality work and "fixing" the problem is a consistent repeating problem and is not an "isolated event". Problem: Having a contractor, like Gallagher, not pay their subcontractors/workers​/material supplies, can result in the OWNER PAYING TWICE - SEE #5 below. 1) So, in order to do a​ just review for YELP, I researched contractor​ laws. " 3) "When this happens ​if the homeowner doesn't have a good contract - someone trustworthy to consult with on the legal aspects of the construction project - the temptation is usually great to just make an extra payment so the project will be over.YES, CHECK, THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED TO ME AND THEY ARE PUTTING EXTREME PRESSURE ON ME TO PAY THEM MORE MONEY WHEN CONTRACT STATES I PAY THE REMAINDER ON COMPLETION OF WORK." 4) "All too often, what actually happens is that instead of moving the project along, it is further delayed. YES, CHECK, THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED TO ME. The homeowner is out more money and subcontractors who the contractor hasn't paid (and who the homeowner didn't even know about) start calling the homeowner.YES, CHECK, THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED TO ME. They are now asking the homeowner to pay them directly, and threaten to file liens against the home if they don't receive payment.YES, CHECK, THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED TO ME. 5) "Because of statutory mechanic's lien rights that subcontractors have, if a homeowner isn't careful about having a good remodeling contract, and in how payments are made to the contractor, that homeowner runs the risk of having to pay twice for the work that is done YES, CHECK, THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED TO ME AND I DO NOT WANT TO HAVE TO PAY TWICE-- once to the contractor and once to the subcontractor who has recorded a lien against the property." In my "lawyer letter", sent by certified mail, in January 2018, I asked , among othee things, that Gallagher: 1)A complete​ list of all material, contractors and suppliers, and sub-contractors, suppliers, used on this job. 2)We also requested they been paid in full and sworn statements stating that AND THAT THEY PAY SUNBELT AND SUBCONTRACTORS, AND OTHERS IMMEDIATELY IN FULL. WE. ARE STILL WAITING FOR A SIMPLE REQUEST per my lawyer. I wouldn't recommend this company to my worst enemy. We were taken advantage of, and I am sick about it. Dan Gallagher is an amazing bullshitter, and thats how this company works. It started with the overpriced (I take the blame for signing the contract at this price) basement remodel for my dad who is disabled. They started out by sending in a crew of 3-4 guys. They were great workers, but after a few weeks, they disappeared. There were a couple of days that there was nobody working on the basement. Eventually different guys showed up, and the same thing-they disappeared and new guys came in (come to find out Gallagher wasn't paying them, so they just found more suckers to do free work). Obviously there wasn't any communication between these crews, so that slowed things down a lot. This entire time, my dad is living in a hotel and paying out-of-pocket for extra caregivers, so time was an issue with this project. Eventually they finished and the "cleaning crew" came in. The "crew" of one young lady cleaned the best she could, but honestly it was a joke. After the basement was finished, they started on the kitchen. They had ONE guy that did the entire kitchen remodel-flooring, counters, lighting. Dan texted me frequently asking for the remainder of the money before they even finished. Thankfully, I knew better. The kitchen was eventually finished, and I was SO glad this nightmare was over...or so I thought. I just got a notice that there is a lien on our house. Gallagher hasn't paid the granite company that installed our counters, so now we are involved again. I am beyond pissed off at this piece of shit company. read more

THIS COMPANY IS NOT TO BE TRUSTED I wish that I would have done a better job researching this company before contracting them for my home project. Every poor review that you read about them is 100% true, and I would strongly recommend that you do not spend even $1 with these people. We signed a contract with Gallagher in May of 2017 to replace the deck and siding on our home. We put 50% down and they told us the project would start in 4-6 weeks. After we made numerous calls and e-mails, they finally began the project at the end of August, 12 weeks after signing the contract. But that's just where the nightmare began. They took over 6 weeks to "complete" our project, and still have never returned to address the remaining issues. Their subcontractors openly complained to us about the Gallagher's and one of their "Project Managers" took over our project after nearly a month after calling their other Project Manager inept! The contractor would show up for a few hours here and there, then leave unexplained, with no scheduled return. We had to clean up after them nightly (when they did work). On the final day of the project October 10, 2017, we had to sign a Notification of Completion Order. We had written a contract giving them until the end of October to complete all remaining action items. To date, June 2018. They have still not returned to complete. We have called and e-mailed dozens of times to have a representative review the remaining issues, but now they won't even return our calls. They promised numerous times to have someone out here, only to blow us off every time. We have finally gone to another contractor to complete our project. If you are looking for a contractor that charges fair rates, communicates and completes projects, these are not the people for you. I cannot warn you enough! These is not a trustworthy business. I had Gallagher Construction Group do some siding work to my house in Lockport, and WOW I was impressed. They were very professional and very knowledgeable the whole time it was a fantastic experience. I was very hesitant at first but the staff made me feel super comfortable about the work they were doing. AVOID THEM AT ALL COST. They will sell you on how wonderful they are. Don't believe it. I found them on Home Advisor, somehow they are not checking or verifying who they are recommending. If I could give no stars that's what I would I give Gallagher Construction Group. These people should be prosecuted for the harm they are doing. They took half of my money in May, was to start in June but didn't show up until the first week of July and walked off the job after a few days of working. My house left in shambles. After a volatile conversation due to numerous calls either not acted upon then not returned, my home left exposed to damage because his company walked off the job, my landscapers having to clean up behind his crew, and the list goes on. Michael Gallagher claimed and assured us this was a rare thing that happened, he's going to make sure they came out and complete the job immediately. That was a month ago. To make things worst his office called asking for the remaining balance. Now I'm having to get my attorney, the Village, and insurance involved because these Scram artists can put mechanic liens on your property or worry as in Michael Gallagher words show up to rip the material off the house. I thought this was a reputable company, not that I was going to get ripped off. After promising to return our deposit immediately (the next day) during mediation at the village after several months of trying to bring closure it took over a month and a half to get our money. read more

Consumers Beware. This company sales grand ideals but fails to produce results and lack commitment to completion of my project in a timely manner after they took my money. I contracted with Gallagher 5/20/16 for a kitchen and bathroom remodel and gave them a deposit. At which time I was told they had expert interior decorators. One, the owner wife and the other the general contractor. Two, both would provide tons of cabinet samples and designs for me to choose from for my project . I should have known there would be problems when the general contractor showed up a week later unprepared and without any samples and stated he was not informed to bring anything nor did he have any ideals or suggestion and wanted to reschedule. To make a long story short, after countless text and emails to the general contractors demanding a start date and his numerous excuses for delay in my project, I was given an option to get a full refund of my deposit. Of course I jumped at this offer. Excuses range from waiting for samples, permit, then cabinets mfg, to waiting on date from the contractor. The refund option only came because I contacted the Home Advisor and complained Gallagher had taken my deposit and failed to give me a start date after approx. 2 months of going back and forth. After a while the general contractor would not even respond to my emails or texts. They are very unreliable and unprofessional. Even after the request for the refund, they continued to derail my project by delaying my refund and preventing me from finding another contractor. It took them an additional two weeks before I got my check. Again, BEWARE of this company, even if you find them on Home Advisor or Angie List and they give them good reviews, do your own double checking. read more
