STAY AWAY THEY ARE HORRIBLE. Do not recommend to my worst enemies. I have worked with and a friend owns a mitigation company. They are bottom of the barrell. Had a house fire disaster Solutions did the mitigation and reconstruction. They did not clean a majority of the household items that they removed. Left my house a total wreck. Did not clean up after themselves. The owner hushed me in my own house where we then got into a verbal altercation after the company broke my peloton bike. They don't have licensed electricians doing th electrical which led to many other issues after they "completed" The Work. The crew chief/supervisor George called me after the verbal altercation with his boss and said he does not represent my teams values and work ethics. Considering the fact that I have not been able to get the company back to Fix the issues from their incompetent employees who also lie Tells me a lot about the overall company. I've called my insurance and told them not to use them anymore. If they offered to redo everything for free, I would deny access to my home. They lie, They do work halfway, They don't clean up, And they won't come and fix what they messed up. Very unqualified and lead by an ignorant, Rude, And deceitful owner. read more

I own and operate four rehab facilities in northern Illinois. I have had various different disasters over 15 years in practice so I have had exposure to multiple mitigation companies. I wouldn't say that any of them really impressed me to the point of carving out 20 minutes of my insane schedule to write a review, good or bad. Obviously that changed when I met CJ @ Illinois restoration... Unfortunately about 2 months ago I had toilet water coming through my ceiling into my therapy bay from the dermatology clinic upstairs. I obviously freaked out and immediately called CJ who I had recently been introduced to. He literally stopped what he was doing and was at my clinic in 15 minutes. He took control of the situation and to my astonishment, had a team pull an overnight to 100% clean and de-nastify my space. I was able to treat patients the very next day! The story doesn't end there. The people responsible for the mess were less than cooperative and CJ and his crew were phenomenal go-betweens to get the mitigation and the rebuild covered as quick as possible. I did not know that any mitigation company also did the rebuild work! 100% made a shitty (no pun intended!) situation so much more tolerable. I can't say enough about CJ and his team. I cannot speak highly enough about the entire staff and crew at Disaster Solution/Illinois Restoration Services! Back in mid-January 2023, my dishwasher sprung a leak. The leak caused damage to my whole main floor and sent me and my family to a rental home for several months. Disaster Solution was recommended to me by my insurance company, USAA, and I am so happy I contacted them. They arrived quickly after I reported the damage and got straight to work on water mitigation. The first team to arrive was extremely friendly, empathetic and communicative. I had a full house - two toddlers, 3 dogs, a cat and I work from home (plus 20 or so plants that needed to be relocated). The lead of this crew was JB (Jeremy B). He was sensitive to all of this and incredibly patient as I worked to reorganize and rearrange my home. Once I got myself organized, him and the crew boxed up the rest of my belongings, wrapped my furniture and took it off to storage for me. After water mitigation was completed, I was contacted by my project manager, Mark. Mark - is - the - BEST. He was extremely thorough, provided ongoing updates and promptly returned calls (or just answered them immediately). I never experienced a delayed response or frustrating moment with Mark and his crew. They always arrived on time, usually had answers to my questions and, if they didn't, I'd hear back within 24 hours. All in all, my little disaster took 5 months to fix. The insurance sometimes dragged, the materials took some time to arrive, but I always knew that if I had a concern that I could simply call my estimator or project manager and they would walk me through the process or provide me with an estimated timeline. I'll never forget - the first time Mark was telling me what his email address was he joked and said "it's not @disaster-solution(S) with an (S), it's @distaster-solution.com because there's ONLY ONE SOLUTION". I still roll my eyes at this joke, but, he was absolutely correct... from start to finish, it felt like one solid, cohesive solution. I am forever grateful to this crew! (A special shout out to Dave who worked tirelessly to fix my home and had to listen to my toddlers screaming while doing so.) read more

Our basement flooded due to sump pump failure. Jim, and Julie and the whole team responded very Quickly with mitigation efforts. There communication throughout the mitigation, clean up and rebuild was outstanding. Our basement rebuild turned out better than we could have hoped, and even working with them and our insurance company was easy. We look forward to using them for future remodel projects. read more

Replace original roof on house that was 25 years old. Roofing job was more than basic as the roof had 14 skylights installed when house was built. One skylight was leaking and many were foggy. Summary: - Worked directly with Jim Sharp - President and Jeremy Lohrens - VP. - Very prompt to inspect and send estimate. - Work completed in a reasonable time. Pictures of completed roof sent via email. - All seemed good until multiple leaks began. Then the NIGHTMARE BEGAN. - Customer Service and response time was HORRIBLE. - The issues have been going on for a year with no resolution or attempt to fix. They have denied responsibility for the work (see below for details) and are now ignoring all contact from me. - They do not have the skills to work on roofs with skylights. - Hard to believe this treatment isn't because I am a woman. I highly doubt they would treat a man this way. Details: - I asked with Jim Sharp - President and Jeremy Lohrens - VP very specifically whether shingling a roof with skylights concerned them (some roofers weren't interested in job due to skylights). They said they have worked with skylights for years and had no concerns at all. They also had a glass guy to work on the skylights that had lost their seal. - Estimate was approx. $14,000 (excluding glass for skylights). This was about $2,000 higher than my other 2 bids but Sharp came across as the most confident about working with roof with skylights. I trusted him. - Work was completed in August 2015. Sharp emailed me pictures of the completed work since I was out of town on the last day of work. - 2 leaks from skylights. One in Sep 2015 repaired quickly by Sharp's roofing team. One in Apr 2016 repaired by glass guy while he was working on a cracked skylight. No further issues. - Water stains on ceilings of various rooms of the house began 7 months (Mar 2016) after roof installation. - Sharp dealt with issues over text and email, did not come out to inspect. He said it wasn't related to leaking but a condensation issue due to lack of insulation. Sharp misdiagnosed this completely. - I hired someone to blow in insulation and repair drywall, it rained and leaking continued (Nov 2016). - It took Sharp a month to get someone to come and inspect roof (Dec 2016). A roofing supervisor and Lohrens (VP) found issues with caulking around skylights. After showing me pictures of the issues, I was told they used the wrong caulk and it dried and cracked. I was told Sharp would get back to me with a solution. - I waited one month and finally got a hold of Sharp (Jan 2017). He said he was not convinced his team did the caulking. I was APPALLED. He was going to talk to his guys and get back to me the next day. - Next day, I get an email from Lohrens that the leaking was a "maintenance" issue and they would fix it for $1400. I called him immediately and he said they were not convinced they did the work. Well, I had pictures sent to me when work was completed back in Aug 2015. You can clearly see the bad chaulk job. When I told Lohrens I had these pictures, he asked that I email those to him. - I haven't heard back from Sharp or Lohrens (now Mar 2016). They have ignored my calls and email. I documented everything, all texts, emails and phone call history. - Since then I have hired a skylight expert to fix my issues and a contractor to repair the inside ceiling damage. - HORRIBLE experience. 6 of 14 skylights leaked. I can't even escalate since I am dealing with President. read more

I lost power one night and the battery back up on the sump pump failed. This resulted in my basement having about 6 to 7 inches of standing water in it. I called Illinois restoration and after explaining the situation to them they told me that someone was on the way with equipment to pump the water out and to start the drying process once the water was out. They showed up within the hour and in about 40 mins they had all the water out of the basement and started the drying process. Mr. Lohrens was at the house until about midnight making sure that everything was going smooth, he also came back the following day to check moisture levels in the basement and to see what spots still needed some more attention. In all they had the equipment in my basement for about 4 days and I have not had a single issue with mold or mildew. Mr. Lohrens did come back about a week after the equipment was removed just to check everything out again and make sure nothing was missed. I would recommend them to anyone and everyone after the level of service I received that night. read more
