Poor Craftsmanship, Long-Term Damage…read more I hired Byrne Johnson (worked with Bill) for a new roof in 2024. Problems started right away: unsealed nail heads and jagged shingle edges hanging over the eaves. Bill came out to fix those, though I had to withhold final payment to get it done. Two years later, we found water coming up through a floorboard in a bedroom. The cause: the chimney was never flashed properly and the shingles around it were poorly installed. Water had been pooling and running down inside our wall for two years. It took a stretch of heavy storms before enough water reached the carpet for us to feel it underfoot. I called Bill. He said he was too busy with roofing jobs to come out, and that despite my 5-year guarantee, this wasn't covered under warranty. The roofer I hired instead was taken aback by what he found -- not just the chimney, but crooked shingle lines, more unsealed nails, and missing flashing in other spots. That company is just as busy this time of year and still managed to show up and fix it.

It was a father and son, and they were so respectful and personable. It was a pleasure to have this crew at our house. Matt took care of the permit, hiring a great crew to work at our house, and made sure we were happy with everything. It was clear that he cares about his customers and puts them first! I would strongly recommend going with this company. This is the first time I have written an online review, and it is because this company deserves the positive recognition!

The post tear-off and installation clean-up they did was unreal. It looked as if they were never there from ground level, and from a higher up view, the roof looked amazing. I would highly recommend choosing Abode as your partner for any home exterior work you need done. Great people to work with. A++

There were no surprises and everything went off without a hitch. JE's crew came up from Lansing to roof my Wisconsin house. Its about 90 minutes away so they stayed in the area until the project was fully completed. They worked hard and long and I actually missed them when they left. But I know that I will see them again because I have a leak in my Chicago roof and I wouldn't trust anyone else to fix it. It was 10k plus project, on a steep roof, with multiple peaks and the only thing that got damaged was a motion light. Not bad, I'm actually impressed!
