Good food but very slow service. We ordered a breakfast burrito and The Michelle, neither of which should have taken terribly long. But it took our food about half an hour to arrive. The wait service wasn't very friendly either, and we had to ask every time we wanted anything, even just drink refills. Despite the good food, I don't plan on going back. read more

If I could give 10 stars I would! There is a reason the line extends outside and down the sidewalk. They gave coffee while you waited which was good by the way. The wait was not long although it appeared it would be. Gailey's used to be an old pharmacy which gave it a eloquent charm. There was a guitarist and harpist playing light music on a Sunday Morning. So cool! Our food came quickly and was so delicious! I can honestly say that it was the BEST BACON I HAVE EVER HAD! Not sure how they cook it, but WOW! The pancakes were light and fluffy. They even had sugar free syrup (my hubby is diabetic) which you can't find very often in a restaurant, food was awesome, our waitress was awesome and the atmosphere was awesome! Gailey's is pretty good. I love that it's within walking distance of my apartment, and I've had many great hangover breakfasts here with friends. The food is decent, portions are huge, and they have genuinely good hollandaise sauce, something I think is hard to come across. Gailey's is the best place to get breakfast in Springfield, MO. The staff is great and the food is amazing. They are typically understaffed so it takes a while to get your food. Stopped in again to try and get a seat. Clearly short on staff and the lady running the front of house was running around a lot but not getting much done. Thank goodness the waitresses were helping her cope. The lady and I both had the bear hug. Eggs cooked perfectly and being sunny side up that is harder to find than you might think. Hash browns were ok. Crispy on the outside with a center like mashed potatoes. Different but not bad. The bacon was cooked well without being charcoal and the biscuits and gravy were very good indeed. So lots of stars for the food and the atmosphere but minus one for the service. Gaileys, the reason i love life! Well to be hounest life is pretty good anyway, but with gaileys in the morning its... well, darn close to perfect. When i first moved here (April of 2007) and like a newly hatched duckling took my first wabbly steps outside my Loft, Gaileys was one of the first places i saw. From the outside one can see a couple of people by small wooden tables, in stalls and even a few frying pancakes and eggs. It looks inviting in a "Truckstop, eat for a buck" kind of way, and it is. And so much more. It is rumered that the owner of Mud Lounge and Mud House also owns Gaileys, i think its true, it just havent been coroberated yet. And one must say that wile Mud House and Mud Lounge is friendly and hip Gaileys is like coming home to mom. The Caf/Breakfast restaurant is sparsly decorated and quite large (It is housed party in the lobby to an apartment building), to the immediate left of the entrance there is a Bar with stools for single sitting and the quick coffe. Besides the bar seating there are tables aswell as booths. The staff at Gaileys is among the friendlier i have ever met (including my own mom some mornings), and will go to great lengths to see to it that you get exactly what you want! Especially the waitress girls are amazing at keeping their spirit up stressful mornings, allways greeting you with a smile. The Menu at Gaileys is what sets it apart the most from "Friendly Bobs Truck-stop breakfast". Of course you can allwys get the usual; Eggs, Hashbrowns, Sweetbrowns, Beans, Sousage, Patties, Links and other traditional Non-diet food. But there is allso a great selection of metro-breakfast food like Fruit plates, Bagels, Grenola and other tasty and calorie-friendly alternatives. I myself choose the "Bear Hug" (monster meal with Bisquits, gravy, Hashbrowns, eggs, links and bacon) or some days the yougurt with fruit that is just great! In the town of Stockholm - Sweden from where i hail, before moving to the US 1 year ago. Gaileys just wasnt to be found, unless of course you felt like riding 90 miles into nowhere and asking for a truckstop, and even then, not even close. Gaileys is allready an institution for me, having missed only four or five mornings since i moved here a month ago. And i strongly suggest a visit! read more

My friend and I love the atmosphere and food. The guy Heaven is a wonderful sever. Our problem is the wait times, week days or weekends there are enormous delays in getting a seat. But the biggest problem is the time it takes to get your order. The cooks seems preoccupied with something other than cooking. He may need some coaching or short order management classes. Sometimes the wait for your food is close to an hour witch means I can cook faster at home and save on gas and parking head aches. If you are diabetic or need to eat and run this is the wrong place. Great menu, wonderful service but the wait time is horrible. FYI: I wrote this review on my third cup of coffe waiting for breakfast. Gotta find a another breakfast spot. read more

I love the food at Gailey's and (to me) the staff has always been friendly. Decent sized portions for a reasonable price. They have live music on Saturday and Sunday. Get there early unless you like waiting. If you get there much after 9:00AM bring something to read. The place is always packed and the limited space they have for a cook staff make the wait for your food even longer. One thing to do to help alleviate this issue might be to give people menus while they wait and take their orders while they're being seated. An appropriate quite I heard once was, "I went to Gailey's for breakfast and had a nice lunch." Don't get me wrong. I'll go to Gailey's before I go anywhere for breakfast, but just know what you're signing up for. They lose 1 star for the wait before seating and 1 star for the wait after being seated. read more

I will start out by saying the food was good...but NOT good enough to have to wait an hour to be seated & another hour to receive our food. A wrong plate was brought to our table and then removed by the server when we asked where one of our plates were. I sincerely hope it was not then taken to the correct table as I believe that is against health code. One of us didn't receive the French toast part of the breakfast until completely done eating the eggs & bacon. (It's a French toast breakfast plate- don't bring it without the main course). I heard the hype about this place and decided to give it a try... I went during the week around 9am...got seated almost immediately. When it was time to order, the waitress seems uninterested in us and what we needed. I ordered the biscuits and gravy and a side of sausage links...and I was not impressed whatsoever. My biscuits were rock hard and the sausage wasn't very good either. Maybe I just came in on a bad day... Maybe not. Either way, I won't be coming back. Which I don't know if it was actually all that good or if it was because I was so hungry after my 47mins of waiting for it after I ordered, that anything would've tasted good? My food was warm, others at my table had some cold fries. We walked in and had a seat and told someone would be "right with us" 5 minutes later, we retrieved our own menus. After about a total of 8mins of waiting to be greeted by our server, we ordered drinks and food. We all looked at our watches during the whole horrible experience. The service was sub par, and the food was nothing special as well. We went here for breakfast and were seated right away. Our server helped us immediately and was very attentive. The food came out fast. So I'm not sure if this place improved or we went at a less crowded day. It is very small and has few seats. its more like a small old ice cream shop turned restaurant. But the food was good and the service was good as well. We had the biscuits and gravy, two eggs, sausage (which came out burnt like we ordered it), and their sweetbrowns (hashbrowns made from sweet potatoes. This was my families first time visiting we heard great things about. We walked in and it was surprisingly bigger than I thought. It was packed but we took a chance, they have chairs and a sofa for your waiting pleasure. Our name was taken and it only took 20 mins for us to be seated. Our waitress was awesome she brought waters to the table immediately (that may be the norm) we looked at the menus and she answered questions. Our food was great didn't take very long to come. We could see the cooks from where we were sitting which I thought was cool. The only ding was my hash browns, they were not that great! The second time, I ordered the "Mystery Jeff" which comes with two eggs, a bowl of yogurt with fruit and granola, and I substituted the hash browns with bacon. The food is still delicious and so is the service but the last three times I've been the food is soooooo slooooow in coming to the table. The mornings I've been in were not busy and I sat in the room where the cooks are doin' their thang. At first I thought they were training someone new and that was why it was so slow, but going back two more times, it was still that slow (same cook). Great food, fun and funky atmosphere, nice staff. I went her with one of my teenagers and two senior citizen family members. We were seated pretty quickly even though the place was packed. The service was a bit slow, obviously because someone had called in sick or something. Our server was also hosting cashiering and I was satisfied with his apology for our wait for the food. He was also really hustling. Honestly, I didn't think the wait was bad, but our older relatives kept complaining about it. My kid had the Freedom Waffle which comes covered in fruit and whipped cream with a side of eggs and bacon. It was great. I had the French Quarter, French toast served with eggs scrambled with ham and cheddar and a side of potatoes. Delicious. One of our companions had a Cali sandwich and said it was good. The other got the Big Bite Mike which is an omelette with peppers covered in queso. It looked great and he said it tasted great as well. We had to wait about 10 extra minutes for our check, but only the oldsters found that to be a problem. Will definitely be back. Very clean place, too. read more

Located in an old hotel, the Hotel Seville, AND in the attached older pharmacy...Gailey's offers an amazing breakfast selection from freshly made omelets, parfaits, sausage biscuits and gravy (called the Bear Hug!!). Coffee was tolerable, and service was fantastic. After reading some of the other reviews, I was hesitant....but we had a better than ever experience. Food was hot, creative, and the price was right. Oh Gailey's - so much potential! The food at this restaurant is creatively designed and tasted great! I had El Jefe skillet (which was amazing) and a side of biscuits & gravy (very good). My sons had blueberry hill (pancakes) and chicken & waffles - all delicious. If it weren't for the slow service on this quiet Wednesday morning I would have rated this cute cafe higher. We got to seat ourselves...it took a few minutes for a server to acknowledge us and bring ice waters. A few more minutes and I got my cup of coffee, which was quickly emptied by the time we got to order and not refilled until our food finally arrived. It was a full 10-15 minutes after we finished eating before we got the check so we could pay and leave...lots of sitting around and waiting.
